September 18, 2017 5.0 Pros We've been using Wenduct for over 2 decades and have had great success with it. We actually realized about a year ago that we hadn't updated in years, but the product still worked very well. Now that we've upgraded, we have even more functionality. It definitely requires some training, but we've been able to on-board 4-5 employees on it relatively quickly (3-6 months with close training by a seasoned estimator). Cons The hardware fails from time to time, but the software has been pretty reliable. That said, setting it up initially takes a lot of legwork. Review Source BS Brian S. Training went well, we were supposed to receive on line licensing and never received and have not been able to access the program we are paying for. Desire to put this program to use. I am able to pump out bids so much faster than before. And I'm just getting started with it I have been using it for 2-3 months now and i can honestly say it was an excellent decision to switch from McCormicks to wendes or at least it was for me. Cons Breakdown of estimating hours for equipment is not very good, wish it had AC/R piping included. I want one estimating software to open and quote a project. Regarding AC/R piping even though it can be included in the sheet metal program, it is piping and users who have used in Wenduct find it much more accurate to use in the Wenpipe Piping Program. I was told about the Wenpipe program by Gene Kaplan, a consultant with the company. He set up a webinar and showed me how easy and user-friendly the system is. After our webinar I was convinced about how well the program is put together and how user-friendly it is. I have been using the program for about 4 months now and I have been extremely happy with the program and the results. Gene has also helped me out with questions on the system and has personally walked me through certain areas that I didn't know or understand. Customer support has been terrific. When I started with Bombard 8 years ago, we were using WenDuct and WenPipe with digitizers. I had some previous experience with Wendes at a previous employer. We had always received excellent support with the five licenses we had. A few years ago, we upgraded to the on-screen version of the software because of all the paper costs we were incurring. Wendes has been great helping us adapt and implement their software into our hardware and various other requests and requirements. I've used it for many things and I use it as a tool, not a solve for all my problems. That's how I feel AI should be used - a tool, not a savior. I like how conversational it is and that I can ping pong back and forth with it when it comes to ideas, solves, and troubleshooting. Pros I've really enjoyed using ChatGPT as a sounding board at work. I, of course, use it for personal things too, but for work, it's been great as well. I work in the tech world and sometimes I need to just write out what's going on and go back and forth with ChatGPT. I have the free version, but I'll likely opt here pretty soon to get on the pro version. It's a great tool for troubleshooting, it remembers everything, so if you have a recurring problem, you can use the history to remember either what the solve was, or how you got to the solve. I also like that you can personalize it to respond how you like. Sarcasm, factual, no humor, a lot of it, pure data, etc. Very customizable. Cons The free version is fairly limited in how much you can talk to it or send screenshots/pictures which is why I would want to get the paid version. It is also a little out of date from the real world, but only slightly. And most of the issues I deal with when I go to ChatGPT don't need up to date real world responses. My piping estimator does not like the product at all and has the same dislike of their screen takeoff. I am considering switching to another software. Pros The support is outstanding but the program is very outdated and I have bee waiting for the new 64 bit program for years. I have been using the product for 15 years and have become very familiar with it. Cons Takeoffs tend to take too long due to a number of issues starting with the dislike of the screen takeoff and constantly needed to restart from freeze ups. The additional material and lab is fantastic and we can compare poundage to actual cost Cons The updates could be more frequent and a confirmation of what was updated would help. We are a Canadian firm, so our costs are different from the world market. We deal in sheet stock so we are selling our metal as a 3rd person cost. Adjustments are frequently made with in the system. The system usually glitches and our estimates sometimes do not have the labour costs.
