I've been impressed with the ease of use and mobile platform. Pros Ease of use: easy to set up folders and files, easy to quickly sort through inventory. Cons It's a little expensive if it was being used by an individual, but they might be able to use the free version. Reason for choosing Sortly It is better in every conceivable way. Being able to create a barcode and tag for a product without a label is a huge plus. Our team has a really easy time scanning barcodes to help us keep track of all our parts. Sortly has become part of our daily operation. Histologist Research Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Sortly in the Laboratory Environment" January 25, 2019 4.0 This was exactly the application that I needed when I started our Laboratory inventory system. It is easy for my staff to look up if we have any chemicals on site, and the ability to add custom fields and tags allows us to keep a list of all of our Hazardous materials and link the SDS(new MSDS) forms to the chemicals, as OSHA and other agencies require. Pros To be honest, it is 'dumb' software. It has a very basic structure that allowed us to fill in and sort things as we needed to without fighting against any templates or pre-designed structure that got in our way. It is super easy to integrate the iOS/Android app as a barcode scanner, something that other inventory management software charges \*thousands\* of dollars for, as well as expensive hardware to use. Most of your employees already have cell phones, or can be issued ones for work easily. Cons It is not quite as intuitive of an interface as the design would lead you to expect. A few good video/YouTube tutorials would be helpful. The team is still developing features as clients give them input, so things can change quickly. App does not always push to update versions and old versions can be out of synch with the database. Uses Avery labels when I would prefer a zebra printer for printing labels. Review Source BM Beth M. Limited to how many folders you can have within a folder. I was in the process of designing my own custom app for tracking my equipment, but am glad I didn't go too far down that road before I discovered Sortly. Pros What I love about this software is how flexible it is... if pressed for time I can quickly snap some pictures of what I need to inventory, and come back later to fill in the details. Also, the custom fields really help me fit it into my own systems. Also, the more you use the software, the less time consuming it becomes because the information tends to be already input... now I mostly am just moving things around. Cons A lot of what I do is basically "Checking in" and "Checking out" equipment... making sure what SortlyPro says is in the case is actually still there... there's no simple solution for that... but I've worked out my own way of doing it. I also wish the "History" option worked better for what I do... would be nice to be able to easily see where a piece of equipment has been... but the current format for History is basically a very complicated list. More robust features in the system would be nice, but it's a great starting point for small companies. Pros Sortly is easy to use and fast to set up which is excellent for a small team. We were able to jump right in and begin using it quickly with a relatively low learning curve. It's "lite" management feel is nice when you're needing to keep track of small office functioning and basic inventory management. Sortly is also adaptable to our needs and we appreciate having that flexibility within the system. Cons The "inventory lite" feel makes it easy to use but also eliminates features that seem necessary for medium to high inventory functionality especially if you need to track resale products. Some simple things like cost vs. price aren't built in, creating the need for many custom fields. Our team finds it easy to use and it has helped us keep better track of equipment. Pros The interface is great and it provides all of the features we need as a small business. Cons There isn't much to not like, but occasionally there are a lot of options to choose from, making it feel a bit cluttered. Reason for choosing Sortly Mostly due to affordability. It was overwhelming at first, but any new program is. I however have been able to get assistance and questions answered as needed. Pros I like that a file can be created per room. Inside that folder is more folders to have everything listed by groups. I really like the reports as well. Cons The only cons I have are due to lack of experience in the program its self. Maybe some quick glance training could be available. This is the possibility that these do exists I just don't know or remember that.
