Our experience with 10Duke has been overwhelmingly positive. We selected them over other licensing products in the market for two main reasons: 1) we felt the 10Duke solution was more flexible and configurable than the legacy licensing systems like Thales, FlexNet or Reprise that we also looked at 2) we needed a licensing partner that was able to accommodate our enterprise requirements (particularly from a security standpoint), and that's where other smaller vendors in the space like LicenseSpring fell short in our view. We feel we made the right choice for our requirements and our overall partnership with 10Duke has been a very positive experience. They have an experienced team with a ton of know-how, and they're interested in your success. Based on our experience I cannot recommend them enough, especially for more established businesses.

Pros

First of all, the platform is rock-solid, reliable and has a lot features especially on the user management side that others don't. But what really stood out is how responsive and helpful their team has been throughout the whole process. Unlike some of the Saas based licensing tools we looked at, with 10Duke you also get a designated team who will work with you and are super responsive.

Cons

We went through a pretty big overhaul of our entire workflow so figuring out how a new licensing system fits in was not a walk in the park, but we got there in the end.

Switched from

[FlexNet Licensing](https://www.capterra.com/p/208701/FlexNet-Licensing/)

We needed to add more licensing functionality with less effort and to reduce license activation related issues. Essentially we wanted to bring our licensing to the modern cloud age.

Our overall experience has been extremely positive. The platform itself has been exactly what we hoped it would be, but we also feel we're getting a great return on investment now that we're spending much less time figuring out licensing on our own. 10Duke is very reliable, we haven't had any major issues (we're on the long term support version which probably helps) and whatever minor problems there have been the team has been very quick to respond.

Pros

It does everything you'd want a licensing platform to do. It's very configurable, any new requirement or workflow idea we had it was able to deliver. Their support teams are very quick to help and knowledgeable, and they really helped us through evaluation and integration all the way to production. 10Duke have helped us pretty much automate our licensing process, which has been a huge improvement over the legacy licensing system we used to have.

Cons

Licensing can be tricky and getting everything set up wasn't always easy. But this isn't really a critique of the platform itself but licensing itself. 10Duke guided us through everything step by step.

Lack of responsive support, same bugs that persisted for years, very high price for what we were getting, and the system wasn't improved at all for many years. The difference between 10Duke and Thales is night and day, because 10Duke actually listens to you and is interested in improving.

Overall, I am extremely satisfied with our experience. 10Duke Scale ticks all the boxes, works and gives me peace of mind.

Pros

I personally like how easy 10Duke Scale is to use. The online dashboard is brilliant. We previously had our own system which was clunky and buggy.

Cons

I feel like some of the terms used and the workflow in the 10Duke Scale dashboard are not as clear as they could be. Perhaps it's because I'm not terribly techy or maybe it's European terminology vs North American terminology. Once I wrapped my head around some of the terms and flows, every works tickety-boo.

Reasons for choosing 10Duke Licensing

10Duke actually called me and we had a meaningful discussion. 10Duke understood our needs, and in fact made some changes to 10Duke Scale to suit our needs. I am impressed with your product and equally important, with your people.

10Duke covered all the important factors - but critically (i) They understood our technical and commercial ambitions (ii) They provided a solution that enabled both (iii) Experts in their field

Pros

The 10Duke solution was the key for enabling the technical and commercial migration from desktop software to the cloud, integrating desktop applications, on-premis and cloud based web services via its Identity and entitlements / provisioning solution. In simple terms, it allowed us to offer 1) Customers a single ID to access all our products and services 2) Immediate provisioning and automated e-commerce 3) Improved services and commercial offers based on customer usage

Cons

The 10Duke solution is very flexible and configurable - almost too many options in terms of commercial / license models.

The 10Duke entitlements system was flexible and powerful enough to adapt to the broad range of licensing requirements from our extensive product portfolio almost out-of-the-box. We were up and running with a proof of concept quickly. We developed our own client software to consume and release licenses, interfacing to the 10Duke entitlement server. The best part of the experience was working closely with the account management team at 10Duke who were extremely helpful, very knowledgable and guided us through the onboarding process very effectively, presenting creative solutions to our integration challenges.

Pros

So far, the system has proved extremely reliable and scalable, handling the load from our most recently major launch of Cubase 12 with ease. Integration with the APIs was straightforward and the 10Duke Entitlements conceptual model was more than capable of modelling our complex portfolio of existing products. The 10Duke Entitlements solution set us up to provide a streamlined customer experience as well as broaden our commercial offerings in the future with flexible licensing models while allowing our own developers to focus on delivering amazing new features and services in our music software.

Cons

The documentation online is a reasonable starting point, but it quickly becomes apparent that there are some things which aren't completely explained. Our technical contacts at 10Duke were quick to help fill in the blanks, but it would be good to be able to be a bit more self-sufficient, especially in areas such as the Graph and REST APIs. We don't rely heavily on the built-in "SysAdmin" tool, as we have interfaced some of our user administration directly to the Entitlements API. This is probably for the best, as the sysadmin has some quirks which would make day-to-day usage mildly frustrating.

10Duke Entitlements was able to grow with our business. It was always performant, scaling with our user base. Each new requirement that our business discovered was able to be implemented by extension of the existing solution.

Pros

The 10Duke Entitlements engine was the only product, in our assessment, that had the flexibility and extensibility to support the existing license models for our existing desktop software and the web based software we were bringing to market. Through a highly extensible design, the 10Duke Entitlements engine can be extended to deliver any authorization and licensing solution you need.

Cons

The documentation for the software would benefit from extension into a user guide that covers the extension points and some potential patterns or authorization and licensing.

The existing dongle based licensing system was inflexible and the users of the software found the physical token cumbersome.

Reasons for choosing 10Duke Licensing

10Duke was the only product that could sensibly support desktop and cloud software solutions with the same backend and license models.
