Signed up on Smile over 15 years ago. Have sampled all kinds of other loyalty apps over the years and nothing came close to smile in terms of price and functionality. The experiences I've had with their support team has made me a client for life.

Pros

Originally it was ease of setup that drew us to smile. However I have to say that the best thing about this app is the customer service. It is always a delight to deal with their staff.

Cons

I really can't say what I like least because I have not identified any issues with the platform or limitations. I suppose some more in depth reporting would be helpful.

Reason for choosing Smile.io

It was more about timing than anything. We had adopted a loyalty program very early on and Smile was one of the only apps at the time. Having said that, using it and working with their support team has only affirmed that we made the right decision.

We only launched the programme a week ago but my overall impression has been great. Customers have started engaging with the programme straight away, and we have already started seeing customers redeeming rewards, and have just had our first referral! The customer support team have also been fantastic and have been there to answer any questions. Special thanks to \[sensitive content hidden\] who have both been fantastic.

Pros

The app is relatively straight forward / quick to set up and offers lots of options for how customers can earn and redeem points. I think the referral feature is especially useful for customer acquisition. I think the customer interface is great and looks fantastic on the website. The customer support has also been fantastic.

Cons

I think it would be useful if there were more options for tailoring notifications in the app, although this can be achieved by integration with Klaviyo (or similar providers). I also think it would be super helpful to have the option to let the customer earn points by signing up to our mailing list. At the moment, we have to get customers to sign up to the Loyalty Programme and email marketing list separately, so we use two different popups. It would be better if this could be integrated, so the customer signs up to the Loyalty Programme, and then from there they can sign up to the mailing list (and earn points as an incentive).

### "What is good about Smile io?"

As customer, I enjoy purchasing products as I can redeem points, rewards, and avail discounts. The app also notifies me about my earned coupon and use it instantly.

Pros

For business owners, smile io will help them to attract and retain customers by creating a unique earning programs. You can give out coupons, rewards, points, and discounts that the customers are looking for as they also want to earn as much as they spend.

Cons

It is not advisable for starting businesses to use this app as they charged 50$ monthly. It is a bit pricey but I think it is still worth to try. When I am using the app as a customer, a bug occured that alter the redeemed points I want to make but it only happened once and I think most of the apps experience bugs that is even worst then this. So, I still recommend this!

Pros

Everything feels so easy to make updates, which I am so grateful for! It's user-friendly so our team can go in and make changes as needed.

Cons

I've found that Smile will make changes to their program often without warning. We've experienced issues when updates were made to our POS system, and it took us off guard.

The Smile app has been one of the easiest loyalty and referral apps I’ve set up on Shopify. Their support team, \[sensitive content hidden\], were always quick to respond and incredibly helpful with any technical questions I had. If a feature wasn’t available, they didn’t just brush it off; they passed along recommendations to their product team as possible future enhancements. Unlike many other apps with endless chatbots or large teams of agents giving generic responses, Smile has a small team of real people who actually care and help you get your program up and running. That personal touch really stood out. I’ve been very happy with both the level of service and the product itself, and I’m already seeing Smile make a positive difference in my customer lifetime value. Highly recommend!

Pros

I most enjoyed the customer service that I received. Before choosing Smile.io, I met with \[sensitive content hidden\], who was able to guide me through how to set up the app and work through some complicated scenarios that I had. After engaging with another loyalty product about their offerings, hoping to get a meeting to chat through the specifics, I received a link to a price list and setup guide. Smile.io's customer service is incredible!

Cons

There were a few things that I wish the program offered. Our company has a subscription model product, and I wish I could reward only customers who have a subscription with loyalty points. This functionality does not exist without complicated development.

It’s been great. Customers really like collecting and redeeming coins. Making the switch from a subscription offering to Smile.io was the right move to make for my business.

Pros

Smile.io integrates well with my Shopify store. They make it easy for customers to redeem rewards online or in person.

Cons

It’s a bit clunky when using search for customers. If you choose the wrong name you have to re-type the name instead of simply going back. It would also be nice to be able to merge customers within the app.

its a great option for people with bigger stores wanting an ease free rewards system, its seamless to use on the site and customers never have issues, plus my fave feature is the integration on the checkout page.

i think the ease of use and the variety of what we can offer customers is the best, we were able to customise their rewards at our discretion and then optimise based off feedback.

i think we've got no issues now and all integration issues have been sorted quickly. for example, wholesale all in one wasnt compatible and now its perfect!

In one word, excellent! We probably haven't used the full potential of Smile, but just what we have been able to do has increased our customer loyalty and built lifetime value for many of our customers. It's been a very succesful part of our offering to customers and increased our brands legitimacy and authority.

Pros

Smile was very easy to set up and adjust for each of our 3 brand websites. We were able to offer a simple rewards program within minutes. And we are able to easily adjust the program when we are running promotions.

Cons

Can't think of anything too negative. They have been adding features over the 5+ years we've been using the app that have addressed any concerns we had.

They constantly improve the product which increases its value without changing the price. They team is super responsive and helpful.

Cons

The fact that the getting access to the API was so expensive. But they did me a sold and gave me free access. Best company ever.

Great app to set up and for my customers. Good price and integrations. Love that can also offer product rewards and also like that for bonus tiers the gift cards are automatically sent.

Cons

Wish it could be applied at checkout but that's only available for shopify Plus. Also if you don't have the floating bubble (mine is in menu) it does take time to load so customers often have questions about that.

It has been a fabulous experience so far. The team was extremely helpful in the set up process as I did have a few snags setting it up. But customer service handled it quickly. I do wish I could offer more points automatically like for reviews and UGC but that doesn't seem to be a feature quite yet. Hopefully soon.

Pros

So far everything works well. My customers are earning points for purchases and able to use them on future purchases. It helps the customer feel appreciated for their support.

Cons

The only real complaint I have is that the set up process was a bit difficult and I had to reach out to customer service a few times for help. However, they were quick to respond and fixed everything.

The ability to customize this app is limited, even on the more expensive plans. The initial sales rep that I spoke to made it appear to be a lot more customizable than it actually is.

Cons

If I had to mention something I like less, it would be that the points system can feel a bit limited. I’d love to have more actions or behaviors automatically earning points, beyond the standard options.
