It allows us to deliver beautiful websites with at least average performances. The developing experience is great and the clients usually pick up the basics, that allow them to edit their website, without much effort. Pros This is an highly intuitive, fast and feature rich page builder that not only has great maintenance and support it also has a huge online community that enables you to make the best out of it. The page building process with the three breakpoints allows you to build responsive websites without almost never needing to write a css media query. For more advanced users there's also the hability to code custom widgets with a fairly simple and we'll documented "framework" which allows you to create very complex and personalized components that feel native to elementor itself. If you can't code ther is also a infinite amount of plugins with entire collections of different components/widgets that will surely fill your needs. Cons Like any page builder, it's a bit "heavy". This doesn't necessarily mean that your website is going to be slow, but you'll need to keep performance in mind while you develop your pages to minimize the load time. Also the viewport breakpoint system could be a little more flexible. It's fine for 90% of the time but there are some, more design focused, projects that need extra breakpoints which end up needing to be added via hard-coded css. Owner/Web designer Design Used the software for: 2+ years ### "The best Page Builder for WordPress" April 8, 2022 5.0 Overall building sites with elementor goes so much faster for me with their kits feature, site settings and theme builder. To have a universal header and footer saves a ton of time and to also have the choice of whether you keep it on all pages or select pages is great if you want to vary the options depending on the page. My time spent building sites has been greatly reduced with some of their mroe recent features which are availbe in their pro version. Pros Elementor makes site building so easy and the fact that it includes so many built in features means you can reduce the number of other plugins needed for an effective site build. I personally think it is far easier to use than some of the other page builders on the market, and I have tried a few. Now elementor is integrating with SEO plugins like Rank Math as well as course builders like Learn Dash which makes the types of sites I usually build work much better since these plugins "speak" to each other. Its extensive functionality eliminates the need for so many other plugins I used to use like form plugins. My favorite feature is being bale to download an entire site as a kit, plugins and all. The next is being able to edit site wide colors and fonts with site settings. Cons For newbies there might be a little bit of a learning curve especially when it comes to tweaking things like margins and positioning of widgets. The other con is that when they do updates you may find some of the features getting a little glitchy, but if you let their support know they are very responsive. There are a ton of features that you may never use if you are new to design, and it can be very overwhelming. There are occasional updates that reset some of the styles, but they usually can be fixed quite easily. My clients always complaint about the loading speed issues. Then luckily I found Elementor. It made my life easier. Now I develop most of my website with Elementor. It has tons of premade templates that I use for different types of Landing Pages. Thousands of tutorials are available on internet related to Elementor, so whenever I try to do something new, I never stuck at any point due to Elementor's ease of use and the tutorials. I'm really thankful to Elementor's team for providing such a brilliant addon for WordPress in free of cost, and yes offcourse if you want to do more, you just need to spend some dollars to upgrade to the premium version, and every dollar spent on Elementor, worth it. :) Pros The best thing about Elementor is that its 100% FREE + It use very less server resources as compared to other website builders. The premium version is also available with extended features and if you buy the premium version, then the sky is the limit.:) I used to use another website builder (don't want to mention the name, but a small hint: That website builder changed it name some times ago :)), but the problem that I was facing is server resource usage. I usually host websites on shared hosting, so it was really very difficult for me to optimize my website speed and performance, that resulted in bad impact on SEO. Then I found Elementor, initially I started with the free version and I was amazed to see how easy to use Elementor is. Then I analysed that Elementor uses very low server resources and has lot of additional functionalities as compared to the one that I was using since long ago. I loved it at first. When I launched my own agency, my go-to was the Astra theme with Elementor. I don’t even know how many sites I built anymore. It really was a beautiful thing. Now I’m the in-house head of digital marketing for a company. My boss insisted I use another theme and host with Elementor. It’s been nothing but problems. Elements are glitchy, don’t work, or don’t display right on mobile. Their support chat almost always escalates to tier 2, which will only communicate by email with the main email on your account - not ideal for teams. Recently, they released a version that corrupted my site. They admitted it was a known bug, but of course, I didn’t get the email because it went to my boss. I rolled back on my own, but didn’t shut off the updates because I didn’t think Elementor would release something that totally breaks sites. When it happened again, I tried to restore and my site went to all 400 pages. I tried again and it went to all 500 pages. Then it came back on its own, but was still glitchy and unusable. For a week, I was in contact with their support. No resolution. I eventually gave in and tried a third restore. My site’s been stuck in restore mode for two days for a task that should have taken 20 minutes. Support just keeps telling me to wait. That’s literally what tier 2 tells me every time. They will not escalate it higher. Nobody will put me in contact with anyone higher or a manager. Pros When it works, it makes WordPress sites as easy to work with as Wix, SquareSpace, or Weebly. My favorite theme (Astra) builds with Elementor, so I can build a very nice customized site in about a day despite not being a developer. Cons It’s buggy. Elements, like the typing/ animated text were released even though they don’t display properly. They were left buggy for forever (many months). I’m not even sure they’re working right now. Oftentimes, things don’t display right on mobile either. Their latest update broke my site. I didn’t realize it was Elementor’s fault, so I left updates on. Two weeks later, it broke my site again. Pair that with their shoddy hosting that’s often down and crummy tech support/ customer service and it’s a recipe for disaster. I wasted so much time going between Elementor and the theme’s developer with each blaming the other for things not working during the build. I have a total of 3 devices control, mobile, desktop, and tablet. All I need to do just, select the screen size and start doing the design for the other devices, that's so easy. A non-tech person can easily play with elementor, that's why all my clients love this page builder a lot. Cons In elementor latest version, I've noticed few annoying bugs. The design I create with elementor, it does not work perfectly in all browsers. All-time I can see the expected preview in google chrome, but in other browsers like Firefox or Microsoft edge, design CSS does not work. There is another big problem I've noticed on elements. Whenever I made a change from the back-end, I update the web page but it does not work because of useless conflicts. The plugin often creates conflict with other important plugins. There are plenty of pain points that I hope get better as it continues to mature, but I'm able to build some really cool sites much faster than when using the Genesis Framework. If a client wants a new page or a new section on a page that task is significantly easier with Elementor then Genesis. Pros I love that Elementor allows me to create layouts and add design elements that would take a significantly longer time. It's as simple as installing the plugin and activating and if you want the additional features the yearly cost for Pro is very minimal especially for the features you gain. With the Genesis Framework you would have to build out widget areas in functions.php which was great compared to the prior methods but with Elementor it's as simple as adding a new section and styling it. At the end of the day, time is money. Cons For a new user (the client) it's still not as user-friendly as most of them would like. If they are used to the old WordPress methods of doing things change typically comes with some resentment. Depending on the complexity of the project there are many different areas of the admin that the user will have to look to figure out where something lives and even then it's not self-explanatory for someone without a web design background. It's come a long way and will always continue to get better. Another major pain point for me as a designer is making padding and margin consistent from page to page and even section to section. Since Elementor allows every section to be modified you can very quickly have a page that looks much different than the rest of the site. And since edits can be done on a page by page basis as well as a global basis making modifications can be very tedious depending on how it was built from the start. Reason for choosing Elementor From my research, I just felt Elementor and Elementor Pro had more features that interested me. It is very easy to use as I only need to drag and drop elements to wherever I want them to be. Elementor had been resourceful, and I highly recommend it. Pros Elementor is a WordPress page Builder. By far, it is the best WordPress page Builder I've used. Among the reasons for which I prefer it to other page builders include: 1. Ease of Use: I had tried other WordPress page builders, but Elementor remain the easiest I've used so far. After installing the plugin, there is a two minute explainer video that explains everything one need to know to get started. 2. Cost effectiveness: Though Elementor comes as a freemium software, the free version had been serving me, and I've seen no pressing need to upgrade to the premium version. Unlike many other softwares whose free version are nothing to write home about, Elementor's free version had been amazing. 3. Ability to save a design as a template: Elementor allows me to save any design as a template so that I only need to import and edit it whenever I need to use it again. This saves me the stress and time of having to start all over again. 4. Availability of free pre-made templates: Elementor comes with free templates that can just be imported and edited. This makes it very easy to build a page. The templates can be edited to suit a purpose, after which it can then be saved as a new template for future purposes. This is an amazing feature. 5. Availability of sections: Pages built with Elementor are divided into sections. This makes it easy to design the sections as desired, thereby making the page to be easily editable. Cons Elementor is an amazing software. The only thing I don't like about it is that if one desires to go premium, the one will have licence to use it only on one website. If there is the need to use Elementor on another job, one will need to purchase premium right again. This is a turnoff while considering that some other softwares gives one access to use one premium software on more than one websites. Apart from this problem, Elementor is amazing. I started out using Visual Composer because that was the main visual builder that everyone was using. Over time Elementor plugin got better and better and their visual builder got better and better. To the point where it got better than visual composer, and as a result, over time, many people started transitioning over to using Elementor, and now it seems like it is the most ubiquitous visual builder for WordPress and rightfully so, it is a great visual builder. I just think they need to make it a one-time fee versus a yearly payment option, in my opinion. Pros The biggest benefit for me was the sophistication of their visual Website Builder. I know some developers don't actually like the visual website builders because they're used to working with code directly and writing it out manually. But for me, I do minimal amounts of coding, and I would rather see a visual representation of my designs. Since I'm used to designing with something like Adobe Illustrator or Affinity Designer, I appreciate visual design. So for me, being able to see the design and to freely move things on the page very easily is very important for designing a website. Another big benefit to Elementor is that there are more advanced functionalities that you can do, compared to something like visual composer. Cons The biggest cons to Elementor is, It's pretty limited on the free version. You can still do quite a lot on the free version, but if you want to get into the nitty-gritty of a design with custom CSS, and other more custom or advanced features you have to pay a yearly fee. And in my opinion, this yearly fee seems a bit high. If it was a one-time fee, it would be a much better proposition. I hate how every company now wants you to pay monthly fees, and guess what we do it! I don't know why, but many people are used to this model now, including myself. For some instances, it makes sense, where you are paying a monthly fee for a buffet of media (ie Spotify and Netflix). But since this is a software you may only use once or twice a month after your initial design is done, a yearly fee doesn't make sense to me. I understand that web developers will use this on their client sites and it makes sense to just get the 1000 site license. That would make sense. But for people with 3-5 sites or just one site, the monthly fee just doesn't make sense to me. I think there should be a tool that you can design your website once. And maybe make very small changes over the coming months, or years without having to pay, essentially, a monthly fee. So, if you want to get the most benefit out of Elementor, you have to pay for the use of the software or the plugin. And under that value proposition. You're not getting a lot of value for the money. Pros Some of the key features of Elementor that I like most include:- User-interface friendliness: Elementor has a very friendly user interface that makes it absolutely easy to use even without any coding knowledge. Items are well arranged and automatically get grouped into separate categories. For instance, I know where to locate different widgets, where to change brand styles, and where to add assets like photos and others - it has another cool feature to revert back to previous histories. This is great because I get to switch back to any previous layer whenever I feel something is wrong.- Drag-and-drop and template library functionalities: they are very helpful as they allow me to easily rearrange elements in the editor and import templates straight from the editor without the need to jump to any external pages.- Responsive design: Elementor also offers previews across several screens. I can set the viewport and have the editor scale to it. This is very important for user experience.- It supports quite a few extensions which are great for advanced functionalities. Cons What I dislike about Elementor is:- It affects website performance when I use more than 5 add-ons. Elementor sin duda esta diseñado para facilitar el trabajo y hacerlo simple en un par de clicks , arrastrando y soltando como si fuera un juego. Pros Lo que mas me gusta de elementor es el amplio abanico de widgets que ofrece, es increible el nivel de personalizacion que se puede lograr de tus sitios webs y de una manera bastante facil de implementar. Cons Creo que la mayor desventaja de elementor es el precio que me parece un poco elevado al menos en el caso de usuarios que necesitan trabajar con varios sitios a la vez, pues el plan basico solo te permite trabajar 1 solo sitio, y el siguiente plan solo 3 sitios. Para sitios ilimitados debes adquirir el plan mas caro. Pros Muy intuitivo, muchos recursos audiovisuales gratuitos para aprender a usarlo, tiene versión gratuita y la versión de pago me parece que lo justifica, interfaz muy amigable, evoluciona cosntantemente. Cons La herramienta evoluciona tan rápido que a veces es difícil mantenerse actualizado a tiempo de todos los cambios y mejoras que implementan, y se está volviendo complejo acordarse de todo lo que tiene la herramienta. The built-in modules allowed us to seamlessly incorporate products from our store into popular blog posts. Pros The Woocommerce modules allowed us to insert our products into regular WordPress pages and blog posts either by shortcode or dragging and dropping. Any kind of website can be created with no coding skills needed. Worked surprisingly well with many WordPress themes that did not officially support Elementor. Cons The built in templates, both "blocks" which are webpage elements and full website pages have boring designs out of the box. You'll probably need to hire a UI designer if you want your site to stand out. No native support for popular SEO plugins like Yoast or SEOPress.
