### "Google Sheets Can Do It All"

March 18, 2026

5.0

I use Google Sheets to collaborate with other offices, allowing for easier editing of critical and time-sensitive projects. We have created our own templates for a few things, the main template being our product catalog, which we also use to help keep prices accurate and match across offices/companies.

Pros

Google Sheets, both free and paid, is one of my favorite new pieces of software in the last few years. It has allowed us to collaborate on important documents even faster than before, with real-time changes being made as we go. It couldn't be easier to use, and the user interface is nearly perfect. I have documents with complex formulas set-up, so all I, or my coworkers, need to do is plug in a handful of numbers, and we'll get much more data back as a result. We even use it for simple collaboration projects, such as catalog editing. Google Sheets is worth every cent.

Cons

Google Sheets is lacking a few features that Microsoft Excel has, so occasionally we will have to export to Excel, make a few changes, and re-import the file to Sheets. Customer support is also somewhat slow, and sometimes unable to offer solutions.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Google Sheets

I chose Google Sheets for the collaboration and real-time updates and notifications, as it has allowed us to speed up our workflow on certain projects exponentially.

### "Simple, Reliable and Very Useful for Daily Business Operations"

April 22, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience has been very positive. It has helped us improve visibility of data, reduce manual work, and build useful trackers without needing expensive software. We still use it regularly because it is practical, reliable, and quick to adapt when business needs change. For day-to-day operations, it has been a very valuable tool.

Pros

What I like most is how flexible it is. We use Google Sheets for all sorts of things like tracking purchases, monitoring hire costs, invoice logs, cashflow, and general reporting. It’s easy to update, easy to share, and multiple people can work in it at the same time. It also works really well with other Google tools like Forms and Drive, which helps us keep processes simple.

Cons

When spreadsheets become very large or complicated, they can be harder to manage and sometimes slower to use. You also need to keep things organised properly, otherwise files can become messy over time. For very advanced processes, a dedicated system may be better than relying only on spreadsheets.

Alternatives considered

[Microsoft Excel](https://www.capterra.com/p/176574/Excel/)

Reason for choosing Google Sheets

We considered Microsoft Excel, but Google Sheets was a better fit for the way we work day to day. The main advantages were real-time collaboration, easy sharing, cloud access from anywhere, and no issues with different file versions being emailed around. It also works well with other Google tools we already use, which made it easier to build practical internal trackers and reporting systems.

### "Google Sheets"

July 1, 2025

3.0

Overall my experience has been good, but between the mobile issue and the fact that some formatting is only done automatically and can't be manually adjusted, the program isn't what I would like it to be

Pros

There are lots of great customization options, automated setup, and a large variety of ways to store and showcase data.

Cons

The mobile app is basically useless due to the fact that data doesn't display correctly within the intended cels - it will instead overlap with cell borders. This makes the entire spreadsheet format unusable

### "A free cloud based spreadsheet application"

March 19, 2026

5.0

Pros

Customisable permissions for collaboration and sharing of files. Automatic version history saving. Very easy to sue and fits seamlessly into the Google ecosystem of apps. Also, it's free for personal use to you can get used to it before committing to purchasing it professionally.

Cons

Sheets uses App Script instead of VBA so if you were accustomed to the Excel scripts you'll need to learn a new language.

Cost. As the base product was not free it was more effective to have the team use a product that they would have access to for free personal use. It got rid of the learning curve.

### "User friendly and effective but poor chart design capabilities"

March 14, 2026

4.0

Overall, it is user friendly and gives you a lot of value for free or with a low cost of Google Workspace.

Pros

Google sheets is very user friendly. Anyone can pick it up and find where things are enough to accomplish what they are trying to do. Connections to things like apps script is helpful when needing to do complicated things. Formulas such as ArrayFormula are incredibly helpful as well.

Cons

Working with charts in sheets is difficult. You can't sort your data a certain way, you can't format each data point easily, and you have to do through custom formulas in conditional formatting to highlight duplicate values. If you need it sorted and formatted in individual colors, the colors change when the order changes. Charts are the biggest issue with Sheets.

### "Easy to Learn and Use"

April 9, 2026

I have been pleased with the ability to collaborate with my team using a product we can all access through our Google Business account.

Pros

I love that Google Sheets is part of the Google Suite and no additional product is required to be purchased. Works just like Excel, so not much of a learning curve.

Cons

I don't have any complaints, it was easy to learn and formulas are just as easy to create in tables using Google Sheets.

### "Great tool for spreadsheet collaboration"

May 1, 2026

5.0

I absolutely love google sheets. I oversaw the finances for a pretty international group (not a business) and we were able to have individual sheets for each group in each city and connect all those in a master sheet that would consolidate the information and process it in one place.

Pros

I love that it is free and that I can access it on my phone very quickly. I love that I can control who I share it with and who can edit and who can only see. It is very easy to use and I can create formulas and eve link to other sheets in those formulas.

Cons

I think the creation of charts and visuals could be better. I think the user could have more control of that.

### "Very Useful"

May 5, 2026

Overall, I have had a great experience with Google Sheets. I have used many of its features and it has helped me stay organized with my team.

Pros

I like how user-friendly Google Sheets is. It is easy to use formulas, edit cells, and share with others. It is a great tool to collaborate with others. The options for templates are endless.

Cons

I least like there is not an ai tool to help create formulas. I think adding a chat bot would be useful to enhance the user experience.

### "Free version of Excel. Ideal for personal use."

April 9, 2026

4.0

When I say ideal for personal use, I mean small budget tracking, medium lists, etc. Huge workbooks with multiple tabs, won't work well. However, you can use in work environment as well, several users can share and edit at the same time.

Pros

Free. Very easy to use. User interface is very friendly. Easy to understand if you already know excel, good built-in formulas.

Cons

\* While limit is 10 million rows, it starts having issues long before that. Performance is very slow with a large workbook with multiple tabs thousands of rows each. \* Limited advanced features from excel \* Stable internet connection required

### "Fast, Collaborative, and Great for Everyday Use"

April 1, 2026

5.0

Google Sheets has been a dependable tool for managing data, tracking tasks, and collaborating with others in real time. It’s intuitive, lightweight, and perfect for quick analysis or shared projects. While it can struggle with very large datasets and lacks some advanced formatting options, the convenience and seamless collaboration make it an excellent choice for everyday work.

Pros

Google Sheets is easy to use, highly collaborative, and works smoothly across devices. Real‑time editing is reliable, formulas calculate quickly, and the interface is clean. Templates are helpful for quick setup, and the cloud‑based design makes sharing effortless.

Cons

Large or complex spreadsheets can slow down, and some advanced features require add‑ons. Offline functionality isn’t always consistent, and formatting options are more limited compared to full desktop spreadsheet tools.

### "Google Sheets does EVERYTHING I need it to. Developed an entire payroll system, tax calculation, paystubs and all"

May 12, 2025

5.0

Overall, I have been VERY pleased with Google Sheets. I can't imagine using anything else for my sheet tasks anymore. They integrate nicely into other software, there are tons of extensions you can safely use. Again, I have developed an entire payroll system down to calculating federal taxes, tracking what is due and printing paystubs, all using Google Sheets.

Pros

I LOVE Google Sheets. I use it for a lot of my work functions. I have an entire payroll system I developed in sheets from inputting hours, to calculating pay, to calculating the federal taxes to withhold, to printing the paystubs and tracking the payroll taxes due. Google Sheets saves me the expense of Microsoft Excel and its features are just as robust and rich, and sometimes more user friendly.

Cons

I have literally nothing I don't like about Sheets. If I've ever encountered any, I don't remember them, so they must have been things that weren't so important.

### "Simple Group Spreadsheets"

March 13, 2025

4.0

It has been very helpful in tracking information personally but also making data available to the different teams I work with.

Pros

Having a spreadsheet that is so easy to use and accessible is helpful on the go but even better when working with a team. It’s just so easy for everyone on the team to have instant access to the content and data.

Cons

It doesn’t have the power of Microsoft excel and you will need to spend time searching how to do some things, or even asking other people how to do things on it.

Pros

I love it - I literally use the tool on my Mac, iPad, and occasionally on my iPhone. It's my go-to solution for storing and viewing data.

Pros

Super easy to use and find functions for various projects. Its a tool every student to business professional should have in their tech toolbox.

Cons

### "simple, collaborative and an overall reliable spreadsheet tool"

January 11, 2026

5.0

Overall, its a great tool to use for most datasets. It's reliable and allows you see timed updates, so it's great for data tracking and other collaborative projects. While it may not replace other advances data analysis tools it can accomplish a lot of tasks efficiently.

Pros

Google sheets is very easy to use, the interface is clear, it allows for collaboration. Its ideal for team projects and has useful functions to calculate/graph trends or outputs. The integration with other google tools also make it efficient and it's accessible from all devices. Best part is that it's free, but you do have to upgrade for more storage.

Cons

For very large datasets or advanced analysis its a little limited compared to others (like Excel). Working offline is available but it's not as smooth as working online. Furthermore, customer service is also very hard to reach like most google platforms.

### "Google Sheets Honest Review "

July 22, 2025

5.0

Overall, I use Google Sheets for personal work, like personal budget sheets, tracking expenses, etc. and I've never had an issue with it! It comes with many templates but there are some features you won't find, like you can with their competitors. I use Microsoft Excel with my job, since they provide it and there's more features included, but honestly if it wasn't provided, I would be using Google Sheets and avoid the costs of Excel. I used Google Sheets for all of my wedding planning and tracking gifts, and it worked out great! I love how you can still share the sheet between multiple people, and easily transfer your work to the mobile app, if preferred as well.

Pros

I love how easy it is to use Google Sheets, especially across Gmail accounts. It's nice that all of Google's apps are in the same spot too and most can be used on the internet, without having to download a separate application.

Cons

The only thing that I don't really like is Google Sheets doesn't have as many options as their other competitor(s), BUT the service is free of cost too, so I can't really complain that they don't have as many options/features as the competitor that is very expensive.

### "Google Sheets is IT"

October 27, 2025

5.0

I love google sheets - I use it every day. Very pleased with the product and will continue to use it. I have not had any issues with it to this point, and I have not had to call customer service a single time because the sheets is always operable.

Pros

Man, I use google sheets every day. As someone that is not that great on excel and sheets, I found sheets to be very straight forward and user friendly. With it being a free service, it is top notch for what it offers. I am able to use sheet for money tracking with my significant other, and this makes tracking our finances that much easier.

Cons

The Application on the phone is not as advanced as on the computer. Hoping the application gets updated. I think a phone friendly version could exist, it is simply like im looking at a computer and makes it difficult to accurately keep track of my daily finances

### "Better Than Excel. "

October 27, 2025

5.0

Overall, I now prefer Google Sheets over Excel. The ability to share and realtime edit in a collaborative manner is what is the biggest separator.

Pros

Its extremely intuitive. Most data programs like this are very user entry heavy, meaning it doesnt learn as much until the data is entered. With Google Sheets, it allows for more suggested data formulas than others. Other programs don't often do this.

Cons

Sharing ability to those outside of your organization can be tricky and confusing. It sometimes requires multiple steps to allow others to view and edit documents in a much longer time than wanted.

### "Shared spreadsheets for production and inventory."

We followed BOMs, WIPs, and downtimes in a single location, created dashboards that alerted bottlenecks, and standardized handoffs so supervisors, planners, and finance all functioned off the same numbers without needing to follow files behind them.

Pros

Templates, pivot tables, and a wide function set enable the team to model capacity, demand, and yields easily, while version history, comments, and access controls ensure that production, QA, maintenance, and procurement stay in sync in one live spreadsheet.

Cons

Big sheets can freeze, and shared permissions must be established with care so that broken links, duplicates, or monthly rollup overwrites do not occur.

Easy to use on desktop and mobile. I use Google Sheets to keep a list of the books I read and packing lists by holiday type (e.g. for hiking, warmer climates or winter breaks). It's very easy to edit these lists from mobile.

Pros

Recently I have used Google Sheets to write a script to give me a weekly report of relevant UK company filings - a huge saving of time vs doing this manually. Gemini helped to write the script - and the whole process was free of charge.

Cons

I see Sheets as a lite version of Microsoft Excel - it is less scalable and practical than Excel - I prefer a desktop application (for full offline working from time to time), which Sheets does not have.

### "The Premier Collaborative Spreadsheet Choice"

June 1, 2025

5.0

Google sheets has been, and will continue to be, my top choice in spreadsheet collaboration due to the simplicity of its use, and the ever growing Google AI capabilities that make the input and organization of data a breeze.

Pros

Google sheets is by far the superior platform for spreadsheet collaboration with a work from home team. What makes the platform even better is its seamless integration with other products in the Google Suite. Being able to transfer living charts from Sheets to Slides and Docs is an incredible feature that I use daily.

Cons

There is currently no ability to rotate the data on pie charts that you can generate from data fields. This is an incredibly irritating missing feature when a team requests the chart to be rotated and I have to explain that Google hasn't implemented the feature.
