### "A free cloud based spreadsheet application"

March 19, 2026

5.0

Pros

Customisable permissions for collaboration and sharing of files. Automatic version history saving. Very easy to sue and fits seamlessly into the Google ecosystem of apps. Also, it's free for personal use to you can get used to it before committing to purchasing it professionally.

Cons

Sheets uses App Script instead of VBA so if you were accustomed to the Excel scripts you'll need to learn a new language.

Cost. As the base product was not free it was more effective to have the team use a product that they would have access to for free personal use. It got rid of the learning curve.

### "User friendly and effective but poor chart design capabilities"

March 14, 2026

4.0

Overall, it is user friendly and gives you a lot of value for free or with a low cost of Google Workspace.

Pros

Google sheets is very user friendly. Anyone can pick it up and find where things are enough to accomplish what they are trying to do. Connections to things like apps script is helpful when needing to do complicated things. Formulas such as ArrayFormula are incredibly helpful as well.

Cons

Working with charts in sheets is difficult. You can't sort your data a certain way, you can't format each data point easily, and you have to do through custom formulas in conditional formatting to highlight duplicate values. If you need it sorted and formatted in individual colors, the colors change when the order changes. Charts are the biggest issue with Sheets.

Sheets is much cheaper than Excel and allows us to share it much easier through Google Workspace.

### "Wouldn't Know What to Do Without It!"

February 20, 2026

5.0

Google Sheets has been a huge asset to my personal and business life. This is a free tool I use on my computer and on the go to track spending and time (for clients). Amazing!

Pros

Google Sheets is free and works just as well as the paid version of Excel. I use this for my personal finances, goal tracking, vacation budgeting, and business-related expenses, time tracking, and more. It's incredible what you can do through Gmail, and I appreciate that I can collaborate with others and access it anywhere.

Cons

Google Sheets can be a bit difficult to use (for my personal finances) through the app. It'd be nice if it didn't zoom out when I was moving around the document.

### "simple, collaborative and an overall reliable spreadsheet tool"

January 11, 2026

5.0

Overall, its a great tool to use for most datasets. It's reliable and allows you see timed updates, so it's great for data tracking and other collaborative projects. While it may not replace other advances data analysis tools it can accomplish a lot of tasks efficiently.

Pros

Google sheets is very easy to use, the interface is clear, it allows for collaboration. Its ideal for team projects and has useful functions to calculate/graph trends or outputs. The integration with other google tools also make it efficient and it's accessible from all devices. Best part is that it's free, but you do have to upgrade for more storage.

Cons

For very large datasets or advanced analysis its a little limited compared to others (like Excel). Working offline is available but it's not as smooth as working online. Furthermore, customer service is also very hard to reach like most google platforms.

### "fantastic tool"

November 6, 2025

5.0

Fantastic tool. We use it for so many applications; for keeping an eye on accounts, creating check lists, rotas etc.

Pros

A superb tool for data bases, records, diaries etc. very easy to use and absolutely free so great value for money saves automatically in Google drive so can be shared with colleagues for collaboration. formulars are easy to set up with commonly used formular available in a drop down menu. Just as versitile as other branded versions of the software. you can draw from other google sheets and documets too which makes life so much easier.

Cons

Functionaility is great, It'd be great if you could password some sheets to be locked from sight. so you can share a file amongst collegues but only allow each member to see a dedicated sheet.

### "The only sheet you need"

December 18, 2025

4.0

Using Google Sheets in comparison with Microsoft Word is such a breeze. The UI is intuitive, it's easy to apply formulas, it's easy to use data formatting, and the templates were great. And now with the use of Gemini AI, it just makes easier.

Pros

Very easy to use. You can directly access it from the web. You can access it from anywhere. User interface is very intuitive, and it makes collaboration smooth. There are many templates available that you can directly make use of.

Cons

This variant YouTube lacks feature capabilities of Microsoft Excel. Google Sheets also has performance issues. Sometimes it freezes and slows down as workloads become large or complex.

### "Use daily and love it! "

April 13, 2026

5.0

Truly, my experience with Google Sheets has been very positive. It’s a flexible and reliable tool that supports collaboration and data management across a multi-school system. While there is a learning curve with more advanced features, its ease of use, accessibility, and integration with other Google tools make it an essential part of day-to-day operations.

Pros

Google Sheets is a powerful and collaborative tool that works especially well for managing data across multiple teams. In a multi-school system, it’s been extremely useful for tracking donor information, event data, RSVPs, and internal reporting. The ability for multiple users to view and edit in real time is a huge advantage, and the integration with tools like Google Forms makes data collection seamless. It’s also very accessible and easy to share, which helps keep everyone aligned and working from the same information.

Cons

While Google Sheets is very functional, it can be more limited than Excel when it comes to advanced formulas, data analysis, and large datasets. As spreadsheets grow more complex, they can become harder to manage and easier to break if multiple users are editing at once.

### "Excel Stripped Slightly But Quicker"

December 20, 2025

5.0

Generally this is the go-to tool for our organization when there's any numerical problem at hand, whether it's logistics or finance. It's never created more problems than it has solved.

Pros

Google sheets allows us to do everything from building budget projections and forecasts, to handling scheduling and logistics for our programming. There are an increasing number of good templates with interactive functionality that typically you would need something like Air Table to get in the past. As an international organization, formulas that connect to real-time currency conversion are extremely helpful to us. The collaboration is strong with an intuitive way of seeing comments, which is a pain point for other spreadsheet services.

Cons

At times, pages with a lot of calculations can load more slowly. Compared to installed solutions, it can sometimes be harder to reference other data sets as connections.

Alternatives considered

[Microsoft Excel](https://www.capterra.com/p/176574/Excel/)

Reason for choosing Google Sheets

The accessibility on multiple devices, with a feeling that it is native for each of those devices, was a major deciding factor.

### "Time saver!"

November 17, 2025

4.0

Google sheets is very useful in the office I work in. We use it for multiple purposes, including a calendar with upcoming jobs we have scheduled and to show vacation days we have planned. It is useful for us to track jobs that are in, who is working on them, and what the status is. It helps keep our office organized and saves us a lot of time by not having to go around and ask where a job is at.

Pros

Easy to use, can access from anywhere (desktop or mobile!), good for documents that need to be edited by multiple people

Cons

Not as many features as some other spreadsheet software, not as easy to use some features that are available

### "Google Sheets: Where Numbers Go to Party… and Panic"

April 9, 2026

5.0

Google Sheets is like that coworker who’s brilliant but chaotic. Amazing when it works, stressful when it doesn’t, and always keeps you slightly paranoid about what someone just deleted.

Pros

Collaboration is instant—you can watch your coworkers panic in real time. Automatically saves everything, so at least your mistakes are preserved. Formulas are powerful… when they actually work. Free and cloud-based, so your spreadsheets follow you everywhere.

Cons

When multiple people are editing the same sheet, it’s like trying to play Jenga while blindfolded. Rows move, columns vanish, and your carefully colored charts turn into abstract art. Someone deletes a formula you spent 30 minutes perfecting, and suddenly your “quarterly report” looks like a toddler’s doodle. Hundreds or thousands of rows later, you start to feel like you’re trapped in an infinite spreadsheet dungeon. Where does it end? What am I even doing with my life? That one missing row becomes a philosophical quest.

Pros

Google Sheets is highly flexible and easy to use for organizing and analyzing data. In my role as an assay development and integration technician at Vital Bio, I frequently use it to track experiments, manage data, and collaborate with team me

### "The standard for team collaboration"

December 1, 2025

4.0

Google Sheets is the backbone of our team's daily operations. While it does lack some of the hardcore data processing power of Excel, the ease of sharing and collaboration makes it the superior choice for day today business tasks.

Pros

Real-time Collaboration: The ability for multiple team members to edit the same sheet simultaneously without version conflict is unmatched. Cloud-Native: I love that I can access my data from my phone, laptop, or any browser without needing to save or email files. Version History: Being able to easily restore previous versions of the document if someone makes a mistake is a lifesaver.

Cons

Large Data Lag: It tends to slow down significantly if you have too many tabs or tens of thousands of rows. Printing: Formatting a sheet for physical printing is often frustrating and difficult to get right compared to Excel.

### "Excellent product for small business"

April 20, 2026

5.0

Overall, Google Sheets has become an integral part of my small business experience. Whether I'm tracking my schedule, figuring out my quarterly expected tax payments, or staying on top of expenses vs revenue, Google Sheets is the first tool I reach for.

Pros

As a therapist in solo private practice, having the ability to use a HIPAA compliant version of Google Sheets allows me to keep my own books and track my own schedule seamlessly. For a free produce I absolutely couldn't ask for more! The formula calculations allow for me to automate things including my quarterly expected taxes, on top of tracking my expenses and income as I go to stay prepared for tax season. The user interface couldn't be more intuitive. For those in small business who need/want to, there's a simple way to share your sheet with anyone you wish. There's a variety of templates to get you started as needed, and while I've never needed to contact customer support, I'm sure it's just as high quality as the product itself!

Cons

I wish the multiplication function were a little easier to find the first time I use it in a sheet - there's a lot of scrolling required, which is totally fine and literally the tiniest of things to dislike. The face that this is the only thing I can think of speaks volumes to the product.

### "Google Sheets Honest Review "

July 22, 2025

5.0

Overall, I use Google Sheets for personal work, like personal budget sheets, tracking expenses, etc. and I've never had an issue with it! It comes with many templates but there are some features you won't find, like you can with their competitors. I use Microsoft Excel with my job, since they provide it and there's more features included, but honestly if it wasn't provided, I would be using Google Sheets and avoid the costs of Excel. I used Google Sheets for all of my wedding planning and tracking gifts, and it worked out great! I love how you can still share the sheet between multiple people, and easily transfer your work to the mobile app, if preferred as well.

Pros

I love how easy it is to use Google Sheets, especially across Gmail accounts. It's nice that all of Google's apps are in the same spot too and most can be used on the internet, without having to download a separate application.

Cons

The only thing that I don't really like is Google Sheets doesn't have as many options as their other competitor(s), BUT the service is free of cost too, so I can't really complain that they don't have as many options/features as the competitor that is very expensive.

### "Google Sheets for Small Business Owner"

April 25, 2026

4.0

I've been using Google Sheets for a couple of years now. I appreciate the affordability of the platform and am happy with the spreadsheets I've been able to create for my clients. My clients and I both love the fact their data on Google Sheets is kept organized and shared easily every time it's updated.

Pros

I like the various templates that are available on the platform. I also appreciate the budget friendliness for a small business owner who is always looking for ways to save resources.

Cons

As a "non-tech" person who has had to teach herself everything as I've gone, I wish Google Sheets was a little more beginner/user friendly.

### "Effective data management with Google Sheets"

November 28, 2025

Have been using google sheets for many years and always found it offers the value for money I need to get my work done. The customer support is helpful.

Pros

It offers a wide range of features that can help ensure an efficient day to day workflow. The user interface is easy to navigate and manage data. The collaboration tools allow for teams to work effectively.

Cons

Doesn't have some of the formula calculations prompts that other spreadsheet services offer. Doesn't offer the same flexibility of some similar templates.

### "Google Sheets makes life easier"

September 15, 2025

5.0

My favorite Google product by far. I use it at home for personal projects as much as I do at work. I can access my sheets from anywhere, collaborate with others in real time, and use formulas to accomplish pretty much anything I can think of.

Pros

Why does anyone even bother with the old spreadsheet software anymore? Google Sheets makes life so much easier with tons of functionality and easy syncing and access from anywhere.

Cons

Every once in a while I will find something that is a little bit harder to do in Google Sheets but then an update will come along and that will get fixed or added. I really don't have any big complaints. Maybe some improvements in the mobile app, but there really isn't a great way to do some things on a big spreadsheet on such a small screen.

At the time Microsoft only had Sharepoint for collaboration that was very clunky with file check in/out. Google's real time collaboration blew that out of the water.

### "Made spreadsheeting enjoyable"

May 18, 2026

5.0

I went from disliking spreadsheeting, to enjoying the capabilities of Google Sheets - now making the experience enjoyable, and I'm finding more reasons to open it up for every-day activities and planning.

Pros

As it's cloud-based, and I have never liked spreadsheets in general, having real-time collaboration and integration has meant I've actually enjoyed learning all the functions and features, and having access to templates makes things easy to get going. Now with the integration of Gemini, it really pushes the ability of the platform.

Cons

Sometimes it struggles a little bit with important XLS files, but overall it does a good job of retaining the formatting, formulas etc.

### "Google Sheets is IT"

October 27, 2025

5.0

I love google sheets - I use it every day. Very pleased with the product and will continue to use it. I have not had any issues with it to this point, and I have not had to call customer service a single time because the sheets is always operable.

Pros

Man, I use google sheets every day. As someone that is not that great on excel and sheets, I found sheets to be very straight forward and user friendly. With it being a free service, it is top notch for what it offers. I am able to use sheet for money tracking with my significant other, and this makes tracking our finances that much easier.

Cons

The Application on the phone is not as advanced as on the computer. Hoping the application gets updated. I think a phone friendly version could exist, it is simply like im looking at a computer and makes it difficult to accurately keep track of my daily finances

### "great product"

July 21, 2025

5.0

I have been very happy with Google sheets. This program was a switch from office and aside from the lack of a mail merge, I have not regretted the switch.

Pros

One of the best features that I use all the time is the collaboration feature, being able to not only look at, but also interact with the same spreadsheet as someone else has been huge! The autosave feature is great! I also love the ability to see revision history.

Cons

The inability to do a free mail merge is something I miss from Office. I often print mailing labels from our CRM and their is no free/easy way to do this from Sheets.

### "Google Sheets does EVERYTHING I need it to. Developed an entire payroll system, tax calculation, paystubs and all"

May 12, 2025

5.0

Overall, I have been VERY pleased with Google Sheets. I can't imagine using anything else for my sheet tasks anymore. They integrate nicely into other software, there are tons of extensions you can safely use. Again, I have developed an entire payroll system down to calculating federal taxes, tracking what is due and printing paystubs, all using Google Sheets.

Pros

I LOVE Google Sheets. I use it for a lot of my work functions. I have an entire payroll system I developed in sheets from inputting hours, to calculating pay, to calculating the federal taxes to withhold, to printing the paystubs and tracking the payroll taxes due. Google Sheets saves me the expense of Microsoft Excel and its features are just as robust and rich, and sometimes more user friendly.

Cons

I have literally nothing I don't like about Sheets. If I've ever encountered any, I don't remember them, so they must have been things that weren't so important.

### "Easy to Use and Great for Teamwork"

May 29, 2025

4.0

Overall, my experience with Google Sheets has been good. It’s easy to use and helps me manage caregiver schedules, track client needs, and share updates with my team in real time. It’s great for staying organized and working together. However, as the company grows, it gets harder to manage everything in one sheet, and it’s not the best for handling private or complex information.

Pros

As a Customer Care Manager, the best part of Google Sheets is how it lets you collaborate in real time with your team to manage caregiver schedules, track client feedback, and update service requests instantly. You can share live sheets with coordinators, quickly spot issues like missed visits or open shifts, and ensure smooth communication without constant back-and-forth emails. It keeps everyone on the same page so you can focus more on client satisfaction and less on chasing updates.

Cons

It can become difficult to manage as things get more complex. In a caregiving company, when you're juggling dozens of caregivers, client schedules, and last-minute changes, Sheets can quickly get cluttered and hard to keep organized. It’s easy for someone to accidentally delete or change something, and it doesn’t have built-in features like alerts, task tracking, or proper user permissions that you’d get with dedicated scheduling or care management software.
