Co-Founder | Creative Director Marketing and Advertising Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Intuitive software to keep all your accounts organized" March 10, 2019 4.0 After a 2-month trial run, we were forced to move on from Shift, as great as it was due to the Gmail account restriction. If you use Gmail for business, then this is a great solution to streamlining all your services under one roof. Pros Shift is great at it's core functionality: having all your accounts logged in and ready to go, without having a million browser tabs open. This is especially handy if you have multiple accounts for the same service (ex: multiple Gmail accounts), as it saves you from having to log in/out or switch accounts. Shift supports a ton of services natively, such as most major email provider, social medias, CRM's, and other business software. Cons The biggest drawback of Shift is the fact that your Shift account must be tied to a Gmail account. If you use Outlook/Office365, you'll have to connect it to a Gmail account first in order to set up your additional emails. For companies that use Office365 for all in-office accounts, this obviously won't work, since there's no workaround and no solution in sight according to support. Review Source Steven D. Honestly from going to their website, downloading the free version of the software, buying the upgraded version, using it....it's all been easy and enjoyable Pros It saves me time and energy each day as it allows me to SHIFT between the major tools and platforms I work from. Fast, easy, light. I love it. Cons I learned right after paying for it that there is another software called Station that is similar and free. Pros I really like the way it looks for me to be logged into multiple accounts and have access to mail and calendars for these accounts. I also really like that Boomerang is now usable within Shift. The customer service has been spectacular, and always very responsive. Cons I use Google Calendar for meeting reminders and want notifications from calendar, WITHOUT getting notifications from email. I want to be able to select only certain notification types instead of all notifications for any account. This is a big deal to me, and I've had to use another app for calendar reminders that I really don't like at all. Review Source Colton M. I love having all of my email accounts and frequently used web apps in one client. It has a clean, attractive design, and it performs well. Pros I really love the number of available integrations and the fact that it doesn't try and reinvent the wheel by offering a new user interface. It simply wraps the standard web interface of Gmail and other integrations, there's no need to learn new controls or workflows. Cons If you're running it on multiple machines you might notice that sometimes if you add an account or integration on one machine it may not reflect on the others and you have to manually add it. December 12, 2017 5.0 Pros Shift really keeps the number of windows/tabs and applications to a minimum. Before shift, I had 3 different browser windows open, each for a separate email account. Now I just have one and can free up the clutter of my desktop. Recently with Shift Pro Advanced, I can now link my other task management applications like slack and asana so I have all details in one place. I've cut my workflow time in half just because I don't need to keep switching windows. Cons The only con I can think of with this product is the price of the Advanced version. Being able to easily have access to all of my GMail accounts without having to log in and out of them constantly has definitely made me more efficient. I adore that Shift is always improving and updating, adding pulgins and such that make it the easy choice for email. Cons Sometimes when opening certain drive items, it opens them up in the browser, prompting you to have to log into the proper account again. I can't figure out how to stop that but honestly, it's minimal compared to how annoying logging in and out used to be when I just used my browser for all my email accounts. Review Source CC COLE C. Then you have the multi-tab problem. It makes it too difficult to manage. This tool helped create a simply solution. Pros I love that this thing consolidates all of my emails, crm, and communication channels all in one. This as made life that much easier. Especially people that are using one screen, this is the perfect consolidation tool to use. Cons I have had some problems with this tool not syncing well with hubspot or boomerrang. I'm one of those people who keeps taps & windows open, and I was losing my freaking mind before I found Shift. Being able to keep all of my work stuff organized in one program has been a game changer for me! Pros I love that you can have multiples of the same app saved on the sidebar for multiple accounts. Also, I leave Shift open for a couple of weeks at a time & it has never force-closed on me for an update (this is a huge one for me). Cons Some of my apps will sign me out after idle time (which is fine & makes sense), but Shift doesn't fill form usernames when I go to sign back in. Or even having the option to save my password in that app would be nice. Sounds like a small thing, but I have long email handles and those few seconds add up over time. Google Voice - when Shift is open & I receive a Voice call, it would be great if some kind of notification popped up that would take me to the call. By the time I get to the Voice App (and have to sign in for the third time), I've missed the call. Review Source Minh L. Computer Software Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Really bad" October 19, 2018 1.0 Pros I've been using Shift for a few months now as my main email client, and I like the fact that it works offline for Gmail -- I use Gmail and gmail is good. Cons I've tried to like Shift, but I keep wonder, what is the point of this app? It's essentially a few browser tabs wrapped in a fancier, fantastically buggy UI. It never works properly and makes everything from downloading docs to loading emails a chore. I almost always find myself going back to the browser because something in Shift simply doesn't work -- which is amazing since Shift adds so little, it's just a wrapper around other websites. I wasn't expecting that it would also enable me to have all the apps I use to run my business at my fingertips. It just makes my life easier and more efficient and I really notice the difference when I don't have access. I only have Shift on my desktop machine and when I need to get work done on my laptop the struggle is real. Pros I like that everything I need is at my fingertips, in a visually appealing way, with no chance I will accidentally close a tab. Best features are LastPass integration and having each Google Drive file pop out as a separate window! Cons It can be buggy - moving slowly, windows don't open where they should, kicking you out of accounts seemingly at random. I also don't love that Google Drive windows automatically go to the back no matter which window you were in last. Review Source David C. It integrates with Grammarly and other important Google extensions to help you replace the need for your browser in most cases. It also integrates with a ton of apps like Dropbox, Hubspot, Asana, and more so you access those directly from Shift. Cons The browser/link functionality needs some improvement and few glitches here and there that will be fixed as more users report them. Shift helps me amazingly. Just wish it didn't eat through my computer so much Pros I love the fact I can go in between my multiple emails, various Google programs, and add apps. Love all of those features. Cons I'm not a fan of the fact that I can't have both sheets and docs open (for example) at the same time without opening a new window. I love the integration of other apps like grammarly, etc. Cons I wish there was a refresh button so that I could check if the email has come in just like on a web browser, instead of having to wait for the app to update on its own schedule. October 25, 2019 5.0 We use, Slack, Hubspot, Cooper CRM, Google Mail, Whatsapp, Trello, and ton of other cloud based solutions. Most now have native apps but its not practical to have all these running. Pros Integrations to all the cloud platforms we use internally. It allows me to combine personal email amd corporate and clearly seperate wothout having a million tabs opened in Chrome. Cons No really downfalls of solution. Only one I’ve come Across was a lack of an extension support for a new CRM we adopted, Copper. Other than that Shift supports almost all the cloud platforms we ir anyone could ever use. October 21, 2019 5.0 I currently have a couple different emails I use for work and have my a couple accounts for my personal business. Shift allows me to swap between all of these accounts without cross-pollinating them. I love it. At work I have a laptop with two monitors and one monitor is always dedicated to Shift! Pros Shift makes the integration and access to multiple programs very easy and simple. I love switching between email accounts and accessing everything I need very quickly. Cons The only issue I have had with Shift is that I sometimes have to login multiple times to an add-on/application because it isn't syncing well. I have also had to reboot the software a couple times because it was being "buggy". All of which I think is a natural part of the process and appears that the support team is actively working on ways to improve on these types of issues. Review Source Elliott G. Their support persuaded me to stay when I sent a request for a refund within the 14day period, and told me to try their new beta v8 version, but that had more issues than the previous version. Now I am not able to get a refund because i'm outside the 14 day period. It's sneeky and not very 2022 for a SaaS company. Pros It's a great idea. It's a simple but effective tool to consolidate your desktop and make you extremely focused on the important things. Pros Love the idea of Shift and keeping every single email account along with other software at your fingertips. We love not having to go back and forth between tabs to look at different email accounts. Everything including all your fav extensions are right there in one place. It's great. Cons The team at Shift feels slow to fix certain bugs when they update versions. Typically when they put out a new version, something will not be caught up and you'll have to wait for a glitch to be fixed. We went through many email management systems before finding shift and shift has been a life saver. With the extra tools we were also able to find other services that help optimize our time too. Pros The ability to manage multiple inboxes. I currently track 5 inboxes and the ability to track all of them in one place is a huge time saver. Cons Which there were some apps. We use Sunsa along side of asana that would a good app to add Reason for choosing Shift Too many to list or remember all their names. The free version was a great experience. Cons The Advanced package's ability to access 3rd-party applications is great, but it's overpriced. Pros \- Handle multiple gmail accounts - Handle multiple google drive account - Use multiple different addons With multiple clients wanting me to log into their google drive accounts and e-mails to do internal work, this is fantastic and I haven't found anything that will allow me to move from account to account and do work within their google drive smoothly like Shift. Cons I am ALWAYS having to log back into my accounts. Whenever something wrong happens, their solution is to restart the software... which has me log back into EVERYTHING as well. I use LastPass for my accounts, and they are continually uninstalling LastPass from my app and having me reinstall it and log back in. It gets very tedious and annoying. Pros Let's you avoid having multiple windows open and consolidates all to the SHIFT window. It was also a good price. Cons HUBSPOT integration is poor. It also routinely LOGGED ME OUT of my logged in accounts. With hubspot the gmail integration was poor for workflow I explained this to their support. Reason for choosing Shift It sounded great, but it's Hubspot integration is not ideal at all I explained that to their support and it keps logging me out daily of everything in SHIFT which made it more annoying then it was worth.
