Grad Student and Research Assistant Education Management Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "I use it everyday" October 22, 2019 5.0 Pros \- Easily go between different email accounts without frustration, especially if you often go between different google accounts - Utilizes other accounts like todoist, facebook messenger, evernote, whatsapp, and icloud notes Cons \- Dashlane still isn't integrated - Sometimes has difficulty with gmail accounts that require your organizations log-in on your organizations webpage. - I can only have one shift window open at a time. This limits the ability to use shift to have both your calendar and email open at the same time, other than the limited ability already available in a browser gmail window. - Shift is, in some ways, a glorified web browser...so in that sense it's probably over priced. Pros I enjoy having a centrally located place for my individual email accounts on my desktop. I also like the ability to add extensions and apps. Customer support is very willing to help too! October 13, 2020 4.0 In general, its just a huge boost to productivity. There's issues and bugs, but they aren't major yet and I'm hopeful they are working through them. Pros I really love how easy it is to manage all your email, messages, chats, etc. all into one easy to navigate suite. It has a ton of integrations that allow you to pull virtually everything into one managed experience. Cons They have some work to do on tokenization and some of their integrations. I have to keep logging into gmail randomly. Android web messages stopped working and I'm not sure why. LastPass stops working sometimes and you have to go through the setup process again to get it working. Its a huge boost to productivity UNTIL one of these things breaks and you have to spend a few minutes sorting it out. Review Source Cole G. Everything I needed at my fingertips all the time. It integrated all the G-suite apps, as well as many of the other apps I was using, under one roof. Cons Now that I work at a larger company, with MS Exchange email, the app doesn't work as well for me. I use it on my home PC for gmail access. But not on my work PC Review Source GJ Greg J. I've thoroughly enjoyed using the software and think there are some really unique features to it, but the price tag is going to be prohibitive to some. Pros I love how simple Shift has made it for me to switch back and forth between some of my most important apps (email, Slack, Hootsuite, Trello, etc.). It's intuitive enough that I caught on quickly to everything it offered, and I appreciate having one go-to app for everything I need. Cons The pricing for the "premium" version is pretty steep for the concept of this software. While I get a lot of value out of it, I'm not 100% sure if I'll re-up on my subscription at the end of it simply because I got 50% off to start out. Moreover, it's important to note that while this is an extremely useful program, it's essentially just a container that opens up the web/progressive web app versions of whatever service you're using. With that in mind, it's ultimately just a replacement for leaving a web browser open with your key tabs. Whether or not that's worth the hefty price tag is ultimately up to you. The only complaint I have is the LastPass extension has never worked and it's annoying when my gmail account logout and I can't just use LastPass within the app. Other than that it's great! Pros I like that it brings several software that I use under one app. Cons I don't like that fact that the lastPass extension doesn't work in Shift. Review Source PM Paul M. I hated having multiple windows open in my browser and having to switch between tabs. Cons I am having to sign-in to my accounts and authorize shift to access my info too frequently. I don't have to do it this often online. Once approved, shouldn't Shift be recognized by Google? Alternatives considered [Kiwi](https://www.capterra.com/p/189215/Kiwi/) Reason for choosing Shift Kiwi was not as functional. I am currently paying for it and do not use it at all anymore. Pros It looks nice, and the premise and 'core' integrations work well with the trial version. Cons Once I paid for advanced I noticed that any additional integrations I added would require sign in on every boot of my machine. Now I don't know about others, but I have used integrated password managers for as long as they have been a thing, and Shift not supporting Lastpass in the embedded apps is EXTREMELY tedious. If the core value prop of the app is to have everything in one place and make your life easier then it doesn't deliver on that front for me. Director of Development Higher Education Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Good Idea, but not enough functionality to keep me as a customer" December 23, 2019 4.0 Overall my experience was good, but I decided that it did not provide enough value beyond just using a regular browsers with multiple tabs. It's a great idea and if the functionality was a little smoother I may have kept it. Pros It organize my e-mail accounts along with some of the other project management tools in one place and formatted in a nice way. Cons I didn't like the functionality with some of the apps. Pros I like the most obvious benefit of all which is that I am able to have all of my google emails under one roof without having to hassle with multiple browsers etc Cons I find that the accounts that I have setup require me to log back in again frequently OR even worse, the page will just show the "loading" graphic and the email will never fully load- this happens quite often and I have to delete the email from my account and create it as a new one from scratch and I am doing this probably 1-2x per week- VERY annoying! I used a lot of additional apps to manage productivity with to-do lists and it is so helpful to have everything in one window. I also love that Shift maintains Gmail's interface. It allows me to make use of Gmail's built-in features like labels and doesn't require that I learn a new organizing system. Cons The PC version of Shift works flawlessly, but the Mac version is a little glitchy. I wish Shift would improve the bugs in the Mac version so that I could use Shift across all of my devices. October 22, 2019 5.0 Shift makes logging into several Gmail accounts a breeze but with its ability to also bring in so many apps like Slack, Trello, Todoist and Google messenger. I now have one screen running Shift and I have complete access to all the programs I need in a day. No more keeping several tabs open or jumping back and forth. This also makes cutting and pasting text between emails and text so much quicker. I really enjoy Shift and have recommended it to several of my clients. Pros Having an easy way to jump between to programs and email without having several tabs open. Freelance Research Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Shift attends to all of my needs" October 17, 2019 5.0 Shift, overall, has made juggling my various business and work obligations as a freelancer/self-employed seamless, easy, and integrated. I Pros I deeply appreciate the integrated functionality with Google. Being able to seamlessly switch between my various Google accounts for work makes it super easy for me. Rather than having to navigate multiple tabs, I can see them all quickly, and easily, on my sidebar. I also appreciate that the other apps I use like WhatsApp, Slack, and Harvest, all integrate into the platform, improving my productivity and reducing stress. Cons The only thing I don't like is that I will have to grant permission to Shift for my google accounts, regularly. If there is a way to fix that, it would be great to know as it is a nuisance. Works great on the Mac. Keeping accounts synced when a new one is added. Cons On the Windows Side (Where I spend most of the day) it seems that I really need to close the program at least once a day to keep it from hogging all the memory in the system. It saves me and my team a TON of time each day. Cons My only issue is Mixmax stopped working on the Stable version of the app and it's still not fixed on that version of their software (but fixed on the Beta version). The Mixmax integration was one of the main reasons that we decided to use Shift and not having it for a while on the Stable version was frustrating. I switched to using the Beta version now and Mixmax is working perfectly on that version. Pros I liked the idea of linking my accounts to make life easier. HA! Cons From trying to adjust settings to linking accounts, every step was infuriating and time consuming as I constantly went in circles. The chat bot was totally unhelpful and gave me news links instead of help. I was required to use Google to get to the Shift instructions I needed and none of it was correct for what was on my screen. It really declutters the desktop and makes it easy to ignore them when I'm trying to focus. Slack, GSuite, Whatsapp, Messages for Android all work pretty well. Cons Some app / integrations do not work well. The Castbox app refuses to stay authenticated / logged in; I have to re-authenticate every day. A lot of the indicators / notifications are not live, they're live-ish. I.e. I'll get the system wide notification 20 to 30s before the app icon shows an indicator for it. This works the other way too - I'll go into the app and mark the item as read, but it will take 20s before the app icon updates and removes the indicator. Review Source KA Krista A. Shift simplifies it all into one streamlined workspace to help organize me! Pros It allows me to have my personal email and 3 of my different work email accounts all in one workspace, along with the other apps I use regularly for my jobs like Google Drive, Slack, Dropbox, Airtable, and Pandora. Cons Since one of my jobs is at a college, I really wish that Moodle was one of the apps you could integrate with Shift. I am slightly aggravated due to the re-occurring issues with apps crashing rendering the software almost unusable. When it works it's perfect. When it's not it's not fun to work around due to the dependency I've developed with it. Pros Ability to switch between different accounts including the entire software suite. Easily switch between gmail, sheets, google analytics, etc per account that your signed in. It's added bonus of having several business based apps built-in is a welcome pleasure. Cons Software does not always work. This is very annoying and much like a competitor's software. Currently I have an issue with the software crashing when using google analytics tab. YIKES. It was hard and I missed outlook UNTIL I found SHIFT. It's fantastic - all my emails in one app, all the integrations! Such a great product for anyone with multiple emails and ways of communicating. I feel like I’m actually on top of my emails and messages! Pros Love seeing all my notifications in one place and being able to toggle 3 email addresses, 3+ messaging services, all in 1 spot. Cons I get signed out of email and fb messenger all the time and have to log in again— but I don’t get a message from shift that I’ve been signed out so I have to check every day to make sure I can still use every channel. I would love a refresh button on every channel— sometimes I’m logged in but I can’t use that email on shift for some reason. It’s a little fussy sometimes and that’s frustrating.
