Usually, you get what you pay for, but with VirtualBox, you get much much more! This software is easy to use and an invaluable asset for a blended environment. I support both Mac and PC users, and being able to keep abreast of the new operating systems on one piece of hardware is awesome! It is also easy to use as an imaging solution in concert with FOG. Cons I can think of only one "con." (Granted, I have not tried this in a while), but the ability to run in transparent mode (ala Parallels) is lacking in stability. I can use and tyr different OS because of VirtualBox. Pros I am using VirtualBox on my 2011 Macbook Pro to run Windows 10 and it works flawlessly. I love the fact that is is completely free and it has lots of functionalities. The specs of my Macbook Pro are not that great and outdated but still, running VirtualBox is really smooth. It is lightweight and I can customize how I allocate the resources of my Macbook. Learning and using it is easy and they have a helpful community that are willing to help users if they encountered any problems with it. Cons The only minor drawback of VirtualBox is i can't copy and paste from my host or native os into the virtual os. November 6, 2018 4.0 VirtualBox is excellent allowing me to run a variety of operating systems within an existing system window without the need for a local disk partition. Pros As a system administrator, VirtualBox is very useful, as it gives me the possibility to study and evaluate an operating system before migrating to it, or installing an end user. It is not necessary to create partitions in the local hard disk and the use of Ram memory is very low, for me this is one of its main advantages. Its installation does not require advanced knowledge, as its interface has extensive documentation at technical and user level that facilitates processes. It is very useful for creating ISO images on physical CD or DVD drives for new installations. Cons You must have a basic knowledge of the use of RAM memory and the capacity of the Local disk, this in order to make an appropriate configuration for optimal functionality, depending on the operating system you want to install. I'd recommend it anyday. Pros I love the fact that virtualization allows for these separate environments to run within your machine as though it were a completely different set of hardware and thus separate from your computer. Virtual Box makes it possible to do this with as many operating systems as you care to run and your system can handle. It literally operates like a completely different system so when you login - its as if you are remotely logging into it. You get a system with configuration options before you fire it up which allows you to allocate your hardware resources to the virtual machine if you like and specify things like if the mouse becomes exclusive to the virtual machine up on click and which wifi device you want to assign to it eytc. Cons It still can be difficult sharing resources within your computer where you don't have full access to USB devices etc without some work put in. Review Source Ricardo A. Pros I find very useful the user interface and options VB has when it comes to sharing content between the host and the virtual machines. The auto-expanding virtual disks are also a great feat so you dont have to worry about how much you are gonna need. The customization is really good and the network management is really neat. Cons I wish there would be more cloud connected features even for a small price, so you can import and export machines with ease, have some backups and storage, but I guess AWS, DigitalOCean, Microsoft and others can handle that. Virtual machines, including Windows, Linux, and several archaic operating systems can be emulated, including OS/2, Windows 95, DOS, etc. Cons It cannot emulate Macintosh computers well. It's free too. Compared to KVM, VM Ware or Hyper-V I get a little slower disk write access, and a little lower network performance. I would not use it for a big farm of VM but I use it in daily basis in my own and work computers for testing, developing, always clean OS, etc.) I would definetly recomend it. Cons Given the price, I would not give any cons to it but being a little picky, I would appreciate a better disk performance and better dynamic ram management. However, after I got to know VirtualBox and was able to rescue my whole childhood in such a practical and easy way, I will never stop using it. Pros I use Oracle VirtualBox to run applications that only run on older systems. I never imagined that a free tool could offer such a good return. It is certainly the best tool to run, for example, older operating systems.
