Pros: Numbers is a delightfully designed and aesthetically pleasing piece of software. I used it to create a complicated budgeting document spanning across multiple pages. The spreadsheet worked well, and it was easy to track expenses by month and make changes.

I mostly use the software for much smaller projects, such as tracking medical expenses of various kinds. Numbers may be better considered a table-based software, rather than a spreadsheet program. You create various tables on a single page, and have basic formulas that can be applied within and across the tables.

The best feature of Numbers is how easy it is to make spreadsheets/tables look good. While Excel's look is bland as a standard, Numbers easily applies different formatting to tables to make them pleasing to the eye and great to include in reports or portfolios.

Cons: The biggest knock on Numbers is that it isn't Excel. It lacks some of the common-sense functionality and brute-force power of its competitor. Things that were intuitive or happening behind the scenes are more difficult to make work in Numbers. A prime example is trying to create nested functions. The parentheses and logic behind creating formulas is difficult to get exactly right. Trying to navigate to another cell often alters the formula, rather than moving location. Copying a formula to another location would perfectly update in Excel, but it becomes a bit more difficult in Numbers.

Then, Excel is just a beast. A co-worker built massive programs within Excel and frequently used powerful macros that simply could not be duplicated in Numbers. However, they are different programs and designed for different things.

Overall: Numbers is a quick and easy spreadsheet program to use within Apple. It makes clean, presentable reports for tracking and organizing data.

I've used Numbers intermittently over the last 5 years.

Pros: The best thing about Numbers, both interface-wise / user-experience wise and output-wise, is it's aesthetically pleasing. If you want to make numbers and data look cool and high tech or display data for a sexy presentation, Numbers is the way to go. You just can't have too complex of an assignment or it likely won't have capabilities that even come close to Microsoft Excel. For simpler projects and presentations, though, Numbers is the most modern and is the most design-heavy program to use when it comes to data charts, graphs, etc.

The only and I mean ONLY thing Google Sheets has over Numbers is Google Sheet projects can be logged into and accessed anywhere with an internet connection where Numbers documents are files. I might use Google Sheets for a simple list or table I need to make and share with someone (i.e. party planning, event planning, etc.) but if I'm using a program for data presentation I'll always pick Numbers.

Cons: I dislike that, feature-wise, it's astronomically sub-par vs. Microsoft Excel. There's no competition. Excel is so much more complex when it comes to features, formulas, updating numbers in charts and graphs automatically, you name it. I'm actually shocked that Apple hasn't cracked it yet since they've obviously nailed it when it comes to cell phones and computers and are giving PowerPoint a run for their money with Keynote. Numbers and Pages just don't cut it and Numbers will never be used by a finance person or data analyst until hundreds of more features are added and ease of use becomes more similar to Excel since so many are used to that user-experience.

Another huge issue is newer Numbers rollouts are incompatible with old Numbers documents. Even if new updates are rolled out and way more features are added or features are removed (only if problematic, though) a Numbers-made document should ALWAYS be able to open no matter what iteration of the program is out. Unless it's decades later. But 5 years later isn't acceptable.

Pros: This product is free with any iPhone, iPad, or Mac. I love being able to create simple spreadsheets on my phone. You can collaborate with other users of the software live. It is effortless to create PDF and or Excel copies of the spreadsheets to share with users that do not use numbers or have minimal experience with spreadsheets. Apple devices are not required to use the software, anyone that has an iCloud account can use the software on from the website.

Cons: As an expert user of spreadsheets, I most likely design far more complex spreadsheets than the average user. That being said I found some complicated formulas are difficult to create on the iPhone. I discovered that many of my older colleagues were very hesitant, even to try to learn a new spreadsheet software. It would be nice to have some video quick reference guides made to Apple standards to help with earning the conversion of some of these possible new users.

Overall: It works on any device that can connect to the internet. It is free with an iCloud account. Collaboration works flawlessly, in my experience. I just love being able to create and work on spreadsheets from my phone while traveling.

Pros: I may be biased toward Mac. I have been an Apple fanatic for a decade now. In all fairness, I use both Microsoft and Apple products and software on a daily basis. Numbers is amazing because it can open Excel files and export as an Excel file, but it has the user-friendliness of an Apple software.

Cons: Numbers has a few less features as Microsft Excel. If you are a spreadsheet guru and looking to use the most advanced features available, then Numbers is not the best software for you. Excel would be best to use. But if you're like me and you like to ease-of-use that comes with Apple products and software, you will likely find Numbers to be the best fit.

Overall: The ability to create graphs, charts, formulas and work with Excel files in a more user-friendly software.

For someone that does not have a linear, spreadsheet mind, Numbers has been a lifesaver!

Pros: Creating sheets, editing, formatting, duplicating, it is all so easy to figure out and use! From owning a small home business to directing summer camps and being the president of our school's PTA, it is so important to stay organized. I literally could not survive without this program! When I switched from Excel to Numbers it made all the difference. This is not an intimidating program, and is so easy to use at whatever level you need.

Cons: The hints I like least probably have more to do with my lack of knowledge than anything, but I wish that writing formulas for cells was easier to figure out, or that there was more instruction in doing it.

Pros: First and foremost, I love that it works seamlessly with my Apple iPhone so that I can see my schedule for the day from anywhere. I also enjoy the fact that I can access Pages (and other Apple iCloud products) on my Windows PC. It is a simple spreadsheets tool that is easy to understand and use.

Cons: It's not quite as intuitive as its competitors Excel (Windows) and Sheets (Google). Also, I could not figure out how to change all row/column widths at one time without Googling, and I am typically pretty good with tech. Overall, the features on Pages are standard for spreadsheet programs, but it will get the job done for those who aren't looking for a lot of bells and whistles.

Overall: I have a simple program that helps me create my monthly calendar, which I can view easily on either my iPhone or Windows PC.

Pros: I'm not a big fan of spreadsheets, but my day-to-day demands it from me. preparing call sheets, assembly sheets, filming plans and other documents for a shooting would not be possible without such a simple and classic tool as Numbers. For those of us who are Apple users some time ago, it is not a problem to adapt to their interface. It is much simpler and more complete than that of its main competitor.

Cons: It is true that they have simplified the use of formulas in the spreadsheets with the latest updates. However, I still seem one of the main losses of time when making a sheet.

Pros: What I love most about numbers is that it's a blank canvas and gives you the ability to keep and track data exactly the way you want. It's clean, beautiful design keeps the most important data at the forefront and is far less rigid than excel, google sheets, or similar apps. I use numbers to track everything from budget and revenue to client information. I also love that I can update files across devices with iCloud.

Cons: The only con is that it's a little hard to collaborate with non-apple users, but other than that I haven't experienced anything negative with this app.

Pros: We use Mac computers and Apple portable devices for everything and, in turn, use Numbers for all spreadsheet documents. In conjunction with iCloud, all docs are saved and sharable between devices. The interface is clean and intuitive (logical). Unlike Excel, there's very little learning curve. Lots of easy templates to jump in and start using right away.

Cons: The only "con" would be that the desktop version is a bit of a RAM hog. Maybe because Numbers tends to be rather visual and graphic, it tends to bog other graphic-heavy programs down slightly.

Pros: Numbers by Apple is a sexier, more intuitive product than it's competitor, Microsoft Excel. If you have an iPhone, iPad and/or Mac, it makes sharing documents across devices so easy. It has real-time team features so your entire team can collaborate on the same document. It's a must have for spreadsheets as you can insert pictures or media, there are templates for budgets, and it's easy to teach new users how to navigate it.

Cons: Most people use PC-based computers/systems in the workplace so you can't send the Numbers spreadsheets you create to people outside the Mac operating system or they aren't able to edit them. Not a software issue, but nonetheless a hassle when using this product.

Pros: The similar functionality to Microsoft Excel.
The price compared to Microsoft Excel.
The ease of use.
Vast amount of templates built into Numbers so you don't have to go searching the internet for them.
Ability to have a single document which has multiple tables. A single page is able to have multiple charts and sub tables. Which excel can't do.

Cons: I wish there was a dark mode where the application would be black theme! Sometimes when I open excel sheets in Numbers its not exactly the same as would have been in Excel. Apple is getting better at fixing this but its not 100% yet. Number is lacking in some of the power features that excel has but a lot of people don't use them. Maybe only 5% of users would have issue with this. Numbers is more geared towards presentation of data instead of analysis. The lack of pivot tables.

Pros: - Clean interface, easy to use.
- For all the functionalities I use daily for accounting purpose, it does its job pretty well
- Preinstalled and Free, unlike Office on Windows, you have to get it somewhere

Cons: - Companies still like to use MS Excel or Google Docs. Wish it could be the main stream, but in the short term doesn't look like it's happening.
- Sometimes converting Excel or Google Docs will mess up with the format. Data is copied fine, but the styling or the formula will be lost

Pros: Numbers is a good and reliable spreadsheets software. I find it at times more intuitive than other similar products (you can figure out how to do things by yourself, without having to navigate in tons of menus). It works pretty well for basic filtering and sorting contents, and you can use it to create nice looking graphics.

Cons: I wish I could work with different formats, but having to keep saving in several different formats each time is a little bit annoying. Like, sometimes I'm working on a spreadsheet originally created in another format, and if I hit save to continue working in my project, it will ask me to create a new file with their .numbers extension. And sometimes it will conflict with the other file, and you may end up losing some of the work. I wish it had better compatibility with other formats.

Overall: Data analysis.

I have been an Excel user for years and find that Numbers works faster and is easier to use for me.

Pros: The simple interface is a jewel for my spreadsheet needs and everything seems to work much faster than the Mac version of Excel which I bought a few years ago.

Cons: I have no problem using Numbers and like the auto fill features that seem to be exactly what I have not been able to use correctly (my fault?) on Excel. Excel reminds me of Photoshop with to many features that get in the way of the features I want to use.

Overall: Use it in my business daily.

Pros: I am so surprised at how easy Numbers is to use. As a Customer Support Specialist, we are required to report on our numbers every quarter and Numbers makes it so easy to display information in a professional manner. I always use the templates and remove what I don't need and I find that that works best for me. I have also built documents from scratch before and that was pretty simple too.

Cons: Sometimes when opening an excel document on Numbers, it doesn't display properly. Would just be nice if it converted over a little nicer, but not a deal breaker.

Pros: It's useable/editable across all devices so I can start something on my home desktop and then refer to it later from my car on mobile. It's easier to use than Microsoft OneNote and some other comparable programs I've tried.

Cons: The only thing I'd like to see added is some further sub-categorization beyond the main tabs. Sometimes if I'm using this for a really involved project it tends to get a little cluttered.

I use numbers daily and it is has become essential to our organization.

Pros: Numbers is a great solution for those who want to better understand number management softwares. It came preloaded on my Mac. (as it does with every new Mac purchase) As a user of Microsoft's Excel as well, I can definitely say Numbers has an impressive amount of features that dwarf my experience with Excel. It's layout is easy to understand in comparison to it's competition. The large number of buttons and tabs in excel is simplified in Numbers into a few buttons that are continuous across all of Apple's iWork Softwares.

Cons: While it's powerful, you get what you pay for. While I don't really have much of anything negative to say, it does lack in the amount of programed formulas you can use as compared to Excel.

Cons: It feels buggy when I click on a table and have the additional borders margins and table handle show up. It makes it difficult to move things accurately because visuals will overlap.

Pros: It is built into my Mac, so it always there for me. After you figure out how to use it, it is fairly easy to figure out what to do, but I haven't done anything sophisticated with it.

Cons: I'm more comfortable with Excel and the Open Office Cal version of spreadsheets. I get lost trying to do things that I've learned to do easily on Excel and Open Office. It took a small miracle to figure out how to alphabetize a column and have the data follow it. Getting the printer to not give me tons of extra pages of blank columns is sometimes challenging. I use Quickbooks for my business and only need spreadsheets for either very simple things or to do a budget for the non-profit. I'm not an accountant to put everything into a spreadsheet. I still struggle with functions and often wonder if I'm getting the "right answer".

Overall: I can do rudimentary spreadsheet tasks, but the learning curve on this has been much higher than Excel or Open Office version was. Maybe because I don't use Numbers as much as the other two, I'm still feeling like it takes me longer to build a sheet than in the other two.

Cons: The mobile interface isn't wonderful for updating spreadsheets. It takes a little bit to get used to the drop down menus needed to edit a cell. Typically I only use the mobile app for viewing information and I'll use the computer mostly for making edits.

Pros: I love the look and feel of the Application. Also Format is easy to change and the charts and graphics look great.

Cons: It does not have a function like Pivot Table. Formulas do not include vLookups. Making this harder for data analysis. Have to go to Excel and then go to numbers to present it.

Overall: Use it in my day to day analysis

Pros: I like that it's integrated with all my apple product. Seems like its easy to use and on the dev side.

Cons: Just not there yet on the cell side for functionality. the interface is OK, but not as good as excel. I wish there was more focus on this.

Pros: Numbers is very easy to use and is compatible with every apple device (except apple watch). It is amazing being able to start a project on a phone and pick it up later on a laptop. Anyone that has used Microsoft excel will be able to use this right away and if you never have used either of these it will still be easy to get started.

Cons: I'm pretty sure this hasn't had any big updated in a while so it may be behind on features compared to say google sheets. However, it is still an incredible software to use.

Overall: This came in handy for making invoices, time sheets and a lot more. I could start on my phone during the morning then pick it back up on my computer later on in the day.

Pros: Number will never be the powerhouse that Excel is. I'm sure Apple has worked to get Numbers to match Excel in terms of features etc but it has never had the same feel as Excel. It gets the job done and can do all of the things I need it to do, but not without some issues.

Cons: The part I like the least about Numbers (at least the last version I used) was the inspector opened in a separate window that would hide when you worked on the spreadsheet. Excel is nice that it opens on the side and stays in front. The Numbers Inspector is a bit annoying in this sense, and perhaps they have changed it recently.

Overall: Usually packaged with a new Mac computer so it's nice to have the free version.

Pros: As a Mac/iPhone/iPad user, Numbers is great for a "number" of reasons (pun intended). Handoff works great to start working on one device and to seamlessly pick it up on another. And though it's not known for it's collaboration tools, they actually work quite well. It works great on mobile too, since I can open up a spreadsheet that I've been working on my Mac while I'm on my iPhone and make a few quick edits.

Cons: As with other iWork apps, there's a bit of a learning curve coming from Microsoft Office. Sometimes when I go to enter a function that is second nature in Excel I may have trouble finding it.

Pros: I love Numbers. You can use it to make virtually any kind of spreadsheet, chart or diagram you could need. It, for a time, was an essential software for me at work. I love the pre-designed templates they provide & the built in iCloud synchronization.

Cons: In the last year there has been a few updates that I am less than pleased with. The keyboard on the mobile platform (iPad) takes up nearly half the screen. Also I've had issues with inputting dates & data into my spreadsheets since the updates. It is unfortunate because these updates are meant to improve functionality but for this software it was not the case.

We use this software at the office to provide accurate data to the Accounting department.

Pros: Love being able to make graphs on it. Its pretty simple to use (see con on making graphs). Great general stats tool, I love the colors and themes you can pick for your stats.

I used to use this program for marketing reports as well. It came in handy and eased the process when doing them by hand. It was easy to print to pdf and send to client.

The formulas are also pretty easy to use, as long as you know the basics.

Cons: I am not able to keep stats of something in an easy way. I have about 12 statistics that I keep for our company and it's not really user friendly to that degree. Its a very basic program for everyday people.

Pros: Budget software can get expensive. Numbers is free and it offers several templates which are perfect for keeping track of my spending and finances. Customer service is so easy to reach with the Apple Support App as well so in the event I need additional guidance there's no trouble with finding support.

Cons: Occasionally I'll run into editing trouble on my iPhone as opposed to the Mac. Downloadable templates aren't as easy to find as some of the Office ones, but I'm able to save my own templates for future use instead

Overall: I save money on budget software and can quickly keep track of my spending.

Pros: It is much easier to use than Excel and much more pleasing to look at. I find the features much more intuitive and cleaner than those on Excel. The graphs and charts are seamless and very pleasing to the eye!

Cons: Most people use Microsoft products (especially in grad school/office settings), and I find that exporting Numbers files to Excel usually come with some bugs or glitches... maybe even negatiely impacting the data and/or file. For that reason I usually stick with Excel because it is more widely used and therefore more versatile.

Pros: My usual want in a program is that its easy to use and puts out a good final product. This program does the job.

You can spreadsheet/chart/ create visually engaging presentations of data for your teams / presentations.

Does not have all the extra's of Excel in many ways BUT I personally prefer the set-up and final visuals created in this program.

Also you can create multiple tables on ONE document in Numbers and you cannot do this in Excel.

Worth playing around with if you use Excel to compare for yourself the differences.

Cons: Numbers is a better program for presenting data BUT not a great program for the analysis of data.

Lacks some of the deeper features you will find in Excel that assist in gathering greater information in larger data input.

No pivot table (Excel has this)

Overall: Great program for people not looking for all the fancy extras that Excel has.

Cons: I don't enjoy how the controls are on the right hand side of the screen versus on top. I am used to all of those controls being laid out in a toolbar format. I think it could be more smooth in the functionality of it.

Cons: The only downside is having to search the help function for a few quirky things that I couldn't otherwise find by myself. Even from my first usage, however, nothing took more than a few minutes to figure out and you can copy and paste from a google spreadsheet right into Numbers if needed.

Pros: Apple's Numbers makes it easier to create beautiful looking spreadsheets and charts as compared to Microsoft's Excel. The "canvas" model that it's built upon is the driving reason for this. Numbers is also included with all new Macs and iOS devices, so there's no additional cost to use. Apple's iCloud offers the ability to pretty seamlessly work on a spreadsheet across multiple Mac or iOS devices.

Cons: There's much less functional "programming" capabilities built into Numbers than Excel has, so if you have very complex calculation needs, Excel is likely a better choice. Also, due to Numbers concept of a "Canvas", it's much less useful as a file format for transferring data from once source to another. Again, Excel is a much better option if you have a regular need to export/import data into a variety of other information systems.

Pros: I like the way the interface looks, it is very similar to excel, and it's nice that Apple is trying to push the spreadsheet game forward. This software is really good for budgeting and doing more basic work. It can also share to multiple file types like CSV, which is a very good and useful feature. You can also easily arrange and color code cells, which I think is great.

Cons: When it comes to formulas and shortcuts, I can't use the same shortcuts as Excel. When I took an accounting class, this software made things a bit more complicated instead of helping. That's why I recommend this software for budgeting and basic spreadsheet work, not for professional level accounting.

Overall: I recommend this product for people doing basic budgeting and who want a simple spreadsheet software. I'd take this over Google sheets, but not over Excel for complex work.

Pros: Numbers is Apples version of Excel and has basically all the same core features, however as is the apple way, they have made it much more design focused and user friendly.
Creating smart looking presentations of graphs tables and data is much easier in numbers with the ability to add images text, move tables around and creat really nice looking documents. All without loosing the power of the spreadsheet, all the functions you expect are the, with refraining and other tables and doing complex calculations.
In the latest version you can also collaborate with other users on the same document.

Cons: Not as common as Excel so people are generally unfamiliar with how to work it, you can export to excel which works fine but you loose all the deign elements when you do this.

Cons: Like any of these number programs, there is a bit of learning curve for example which formula's do what and how to set them up properly so that they yeild the result that you are after, but for the most part you can get answers to any questions on youtube or in their help section.

Overall: Making calculations are scale. Get averages easily asking date tables questions and quickly getting super accurate answers are the most helpful parts to me.

Pros: It is a free software on Apple products as far as I know, and it is a decent spreadsheet tool when utilized. It has good design and does what it needs.

Cons: It is not Excel. Most of the spreadsheet world uses excel and it is much more practical to share files in that format. Additionally, excel has some better formulas and it can be difficult for some of the more complicated or less-used formulas to remember the syntax for two platforms that offer the same functionality.

Numbers is basically the Apple version of Excel. It is easy to use and navigate.

Pros: I like this software has the design as most apple products. However, one must be familiar with a Mac in order to use the system. It is easy to move items around and the design is very crispy and clean.

Cons: I hate that this product does not easily convert to Excel. In order to send this to someone who does not have an Apple product, I need to convert it to Excel first. Remember to do this step can be time consuming.

Pros: Numbers is a good attempt at providing a program that mimics excel but provides seamless integration with Pages and Keynote. As a Mac user I often prefer the quick and easy nature of Numbers for quick graphs and spreadsheets for insertion into a Keynote presentation. It converts excel files with ease and hosts a nice design element to make a spreadsheet come alive. Numbers is a very easy to use application and that is a benefit to staff not quite up on the excel functionality. It is a free App with most Mac computer purchases and is a slick app.

Cons: It is a great program but lacks some advanced features. But nothing that would detour my recommendation for the software use.

Overall: The app is secure and downloads safe. This is a huge benefit of the Mac ecosystem.

Pros: I am primarily a windows user, though I have found myself using apple computers once in a while. With that said numbers does offer features that windows needs to catch up with like versions , or how the test wraps around images.

Cons: This software needs to be available on other systems. I understand this is native to apple but should be available of linux and windows systems.

Overall: Amazing offering for a apple native software.

Pros: I love the fact that it comes preinstalled on all Macs and iOS devices, so I know that if I make a Numbers document I can send it to anyone who has those devices and they will be able to open it effortlessly. Also, it can work with excel files, in case I have to.

Cons: The awareness of this software isn't quite there. In other words, not everyone who has it knows about it and how easy it is to use.

Pros: This program comes free with the purchase of any Apple device. It's a great alternative to Microsoft Excel without the expense. Document files are also compatible with Office files.

Cons: My biggest complaint about this software is that you need to export and import documents in order for them to make them compatible to Excel. This makes sharing files a challenge when so many users already use Excel.

Pros: Numbers provide all functionality needed for a spreadsheet and more, plus it is very clean and well designed

Cons: The downside is that although you can save an xlsx file it just doesn`t always look right when you open more complex spreadsheet in other operating systems like Windows.

Overall: I have all my finances in order using this tool, I also do many other operations using it. I think is a great tool and every Mac user should start using it

Pros: The visual presentation of this software is the most appealing part. Compared to Excell or Google Sheets, I find myself wanting to use Numbers just because the visuals look better.

Cons: The lack of simple share functionality between people has caused me to switch to either Excell or Sheets. It could be I just don't know how to do it, or I don't know enough other Mac people, but that's the primary reason I don't use this software anymore.

Pros: I like how easy the platform is to use, how you can even use the mobile app to make edits on the go, and it's very simple to export sheets to Excel for use on computers not equipped with Numbers

Cons: Not a lot to complain about with Numbers. The only issues I've run into is mainly user error and not fully understanding all capabilities of the platform

Overall: Able to work on spreadsheets on the go, very simple

Pros: If you use Excel you can use Numbers. Convenient because it comes free with Mac. They have easy to use, professional, sleek templates, allowing you to make graphs in an instant.

Cons: Apple is known for making everything user friendly. This App is just their rendition of Excel. I wish they would have made it easier to use. There is no customer FAQ, you are stuck Googling your questions.

Pros: I like numbers because it comes free when you buy a new mac. It can do a lot of the things that other spreadsheet software can do.

Cons: I do not like the lack of features that Numbers has. It also isn't the most intuitive software out there.

Overall: I can run through large CSV's and get the data that I need out of them. I can also manipulate and view that data in different ways.

Pros: I like the out of the box templates (calendars, logs, schedules, etc.) available. I used many and others were great thought starters. I always enjoyed the ability to represent data on a graph easily. I believe this was a big advantage vs. MS Excel.

Cons: Understanding and using formulas is a bit tedious compared to MS Excel. Handling large amounts of data is also a bit difficult. These are minor issues for me, because being able to quickly graphically express data is such a timesaver.

Pros: Numbers allows data to be organized as I please. I can select the fonts set the borders, I can move, resize at last create and edit worksheets as is done in Excel with the same quality and efficiency.
I can use the apple pencil to make calculations create formulas at last it is a powerful tool and as competent as Excel and can be used on several platforms whether they are "fixed" or "mobile".

Cons: As a negative point as I see in your competitors is that the software is heavy and requires a powerful machine and its purchase price is not cheap but for those who need an alternative tool to Excel certainly will not regret.

Cons: I think overall its a pretty loaded app and works well within the apple ecosystem that being said there's always room for improvement especially the mobile versions, I know that the size of the keyboard is an issue.
