Pros: Numbers is a delightfully designed and aesthetically pleasing piece of software. I used it to create a complicated budgeting document spanning across multiple pages. The spreadsheet worked well, and it was easy to track expenses by month and make changes.

I mostly use the software for much smaller projects, such as tracking medical expenses of various kinds. Numbers may be better considered a table-based software, rather than a spreadsheet program. You create various tables on a single page, and have basic formulas that can be applied within and across the tables.

The best feature of Numbers is how easy it is to make spreadsheets/tables look good. While Excel's look is bland as a standard, Numbers easily applies different formatting to tables to make them pleasing to the eye and great to include in reports or portfolios.

Cons: The biggest knock on Numbers is that it isn't Excel. It lacks some of the common-sense functionality and brute-force power of its competitor. Things that were intuitive or happening behind the scenes are more difficult to make work in Numbers. A prime example is trying to create nested functions. The parentheses and logic behind creating formulas is difficult to get exactly right. Trying to navigate to another cell often alters the formula, rather than moving location. Copying a formula to another location would perfectly update in Excel, but it becomes a bit more difficult in Numbers.

Then, Excel is just a beast. A co-worker built massive programs within Excel and frequently used powerful macros that simply could not be duplicated in Numbers. However, they are different programs and designed for different things.

Overall: Numbers is a quick and easy spreadsheet program to use within Apple. It makes clean, presentable reports for tracking and organizing data.

Pros: This product is free with any iPhone, iPad, or Mac. I love being able to create simple spreadsheets on my phone. You can collaborate with other users of the software live. It is effortless to create PDF and or Excel copies of the spreadsheets to share with users that do not use numbers or have minimal experience with spreadsheets. Apple devices are not required to use the software, anyone that has an iCloud account can use the software on from the website.

Cons: As an expert user of spreadsheets, I most likely design far more complex spreadsheets than the average user. That being said I found some complicated formulas are difficult to create on the iPhone. I discovered that many of my older colleagues were very hesitant, even to try to learn a new spreadsheet software. It would be nice to have some video quick reference guides made to Apple standards to help with earning the conversion of some of these possible new users.

Overall: It works on any device that can connect to the internet. It is free with an iCloud account. Collaboration works flawlessly, in my experience. I just love being able to create and work on spreadsheets from my phone while traveling.

Pros: There's no way to talk about Numbers without mentioning Excel. And visually, Numbers is better.

There's a much finer control over every single visual aspect of how your spreadsheet appears - from colors, borders, spacing, everything. Excel is UGLY and there is no getting around it. For aesthetically pleasing work, Numbers is a clear alternative.

Cons: NO PIVOT TABLES! This is a feature from

Excel that is missing.

No Visual Basic scripting that you'll see in Excel to give your sheets more interactive elements.

Overall: Overall, Numbers is a better spreadsheet program. The distinction of sheets with individual tables contained within and control over the design of those tables makes it much easier to create good-looking spreadsheets. You actually put something togheter from a design standpoint, rather than being the victim of an interface.

There are a few specific features of

Excel (pivot tables, VB scripting) that you don't get here, but for most users you'll end up with something that's much more visually striking and human readable.

Pros: You can't discuss spreadsheets without reference to Excel -- the leading product and the best thing Microsoft ever created. Numbers is not to be compared with Excel -- if you are a power user! Excel has too many features and functions. But, 'for light use' Numbers is terrific. Easy to use, lighter and faster and 'prettier' than excel. I do simple reports every week and I do them in Numbers because I can get a better-looking result, faster. ALso, number has that cool sliding cell format... so you can have some analysis complete but leave a slider (not a value) for one of the parameters and quickly demonstrate its effect on the final result. Really, all spreadsheeets should have this.

Cons: It just lacks the scale a power to do 'major' analysis. There are so many features in excel like vlookups, pivot, etc. that are not included. It's a spreadsheet for 90% of your use cases. Not all of them.

Pros: I like numbers sleek look and how it compliments the Apple OS. I use a MacBook air primarily at work and at home when needed for spreadsheets. It has the functions and formulas I require to run my spreadsheets, as well as the editing functions to make the excel file uniform and presentable. It is free on my Apple Iphone, which is great. It has a professional look and I can convert files to Microsoft excel as well if needed, and PDF too. Overall, this meets my day to day needs for running spreadsheets at work.

Cons: I am more used to using excel, and its advanced functions. This is a basic spreadsheet that can get the job done on a basic level. No issues with that. But if you need something more advanced to run pivot tables, v lookups, etc, look no further than excel.

Overall: It allows me to use spreadsheets on the go with my phone. It is free to download as well. It has all of the functions I need to finish my day to day tasks at work.

Pros: It's free, this is a good point, and the quality of the software is also great. So these are the two points which already make it an important competitor. Numbers also has almost all functions you know from Excel and integrates some features to explain them while you are typing them in. This is good for newcomers and students. The interface is good and friendly. It's not the typical office software interface. The software starts fast, this is really cool.

Cons: You can't work on macros which is a big plus if you used Excel by Microsoft and the handling of Numbers when you create charts - especially 3D charts - is not perfect. The file format is numbers, so it is likely that, if you import an xls-file, not everything will work as it should in Numbers. Maybe you can't open Numbers-files in Excel, too.

Overall: At the end of the day Numbers is the choice of the worker who is just wanting to add some data and who is not going into the deep with details or who wants to do some big data analysis. For this you better Excel which is worth the money. But students, office workers and entrepreneurs should take Numbers because it's for free and offers almost the same features which you get with Excel.

Pros: It is easy to use, there are many pre-designed templates available as well, allowing you to create budget sheets, calendars, menus, and more. It's versatile without being overwhelming. In addition, you can set up your own spreadsheets that are tailored to your needs.

Cons: There's nothing I don't like about numbers, but I would be interested in more pre-designed templates, especially for calendars.

Overall: I began numbers unsure if I would like it, because I had always used Excel programs for PC. When I moved to Mac, I switched to numbers and I haven't been disappointed! Numbers allows for all the actions I used in Excel, especially creating my own spreadsheets, tailored to my designs. The sheets are easy to design, allowing me to add and delete columns and rows quickly and easily; change font colors, and work multiple math tasks within the spreadsheets. I liked numbers so much I have added it to my phones and iPad! Now all my work on my Mac can be accessed quickly on my iPhone. This is a great piece of software and I highly recommend it!

Pros: Create simple, slick looking spreadsheets for all sorts of personal and business applications. I've found using numbers to be the simplest way to track finances for my business expenses. Also, sharing across the Apple economy makes using numbers the best way to track your spreadsheets on the go. I'm always prepared with Numbers! You can also export your spreadsheets as Excel documents and PDFs: so, sharing your spreadsheets with other people is simple as well.

Cons: Numbers does all the base things that other spreadsheet software (like Excel) can do, but if you need something more than basic calculations and exports: you may want to consider another piece of software. Performing complicated tasks is not what numbers is for.

Pros: I may be biased toward Mac. I have been an Apple fanatic for a decade now. In all fairness, I use both Microsoft and Apple products and software on a daily basis. Numbers is amazing because it can open Excel files and export as an Excel file, but it has the user-friendliness of an Apple software.

Cons: Numbers has a few less features as Microsft Excel. If you are a spreadsheet guru and looking to use the most advanced features available, then Numbers is not the best software for you. Excel would be best to use. But if you're like me and you like to ease-of-use that comes with Apple products and software, you will likely find Numbers to be the best fit.

Overall: The ability to create graphs, charts, formulas and work with Excel files in a more user-friendly software.

Pros: Numbers is very similar to the Windows competitor, so this was easy to learn. I started using the Windows program first and then moved to Apple products at work and had no trouble knowing the product. There are a few small variations with names of things and placement of tabs, but overall I have had a great experience with the functionality of this program. I use it for multi tab/page spreadsheets with formulas (functions) that are integrated between all of the tabs/pages. There is also no issue going between Mac and Windows because they can be exported to the correct file type to be opened and edited.

Cons: The only thing I have not been 100% satisfied about is how many templates there are. I think there could be more of a variety of the templates, but this is a very small thing in my opinion because I most of the time I am building my spreadsheets from scratch.

Pros: Numbers is a spreadsheet that provides different ways to present my records in different forms. I like its ability to make spreadsheets that incorporate tables and images that really make my files impressive. I was also amazed on how this spreadsheets ease my burden in collaborating and sharing spreadsheet files with my team on different apple devices. I must say that this software makes my spreadsheet files more interesting than ever. Numbers increased my productivity and it provides all the features I am looking for a perfect and functional spreadsheet software.

Cons: Hopefully, in the future Apple provides a way of connecting its software products with other vendor especially connecting to database.

Pros: Very easy to use and visually appealing, Numbers has a well-designed UI that should be very familiar to Mac users. Though a spreadsheet app, it allows you to easily create layouts and presentations with strong graphics and attractive templates.

Cons: Though probably more than enough for general business use, it lacks some of the features that power users may need. Formulas are a bit limited. The horizontal tab structure makes sheets with many tabs difficult to manage.

Overall: Numbers has been a key piece of software that we have used as we have grown our business for the last nine years - we have never felt a need to search for an alternative. We have used it for everything from reports to invoices to SOP manuals. The layout and print friendliness of Numbers makes it a real boon.

Pros: As a Mac user, I am quite used to using Numbers for pretty much anything. It has an easy to use interface, fun and colorful templates, clean and sharp presentation. It is a user friendly application that can be accessed through the computer and through the app. My favorite thing about Numbers is that my presentations looked their best with all of the Numbers templates.

Cons: There are two things that always get to me about Numbers. The first one is that, even though the app for mobile devices is great, it is a bit hard to manipulate and do many things through the app. The next and perhaps the most important is that if you are a frequent user of spreadsheets, Numbers is not the best.

Pros: I find this app fantastic to use, and works great for me as I use it everyday. You can set drop down boxes with different products or what ever you need . I have found it saves me a lot of time as it can be printed out or emailed directly to the office or a copy to the customer before you leave their house. I have used numbers for 5 years plus and only gets better with time. Great for my window blind company.

Cons: Can get a bit laggy when a software comes out but haven't had that problem recently. iOS 10 was the last time I had any real problem since then it has been pretty smooth.

Overall: My experience with numbers has been great overall and wouldn't do without it really does save me hours of work in general.

Pros: It is easy to figure out. I took an Excel class in Jr. High School, so I know that a spreadsheet can do some cool stuff, but I have long since forgotten how to set up all the formulas. I love numbers because everything is so searchable. The icons don't mystify me and I have rarely, if ever, had to look up a help article because I can usually figure it out. It is awesome!

Cons: Sometimes I get frustrated that I can't color the cells without re-clicking on the crayon box, but that is such a minor thing.

Overall: Numbers is where I track all my budgets, keep all my business growth indicators, and keep up on my business. I am so grateful for the intuitive nature of the software or I would feel in far over my head.

Pros: Creating sheets, editing, formatting, duplicating, it is all so easy to figure out and use! From owning a small home business to directing summer camps and being the president of our school's PTA, it is so important to stay organized. I literally could not survive without this program! When I switched from Excel to Numbers it made all the difference. This is not an intimidating program, and is so easy to use at whatever level you need.

Cons: The hints I like least probably have more to do with my lack of knowledge than anything, but I wish that writing formulas for cells was easier to figure out, or that there was more instruction in doing it.

Pros: First and foremost, I love that it works seamlessly with my Apple iPhone so that I can see my schedule for the day from anywhere. I also enjoy the fact that I can access Pages (and other Apple iCloud products) on my Windows PC. It is a simple spreadsheets tool that is easy to understand and use.

Cons: It's not quite as intuitive as its competitors Excel (Windows) and Sheets (Google). Also, I could not figure out how to change all row/column widths at one time without Googling, and I am typically pretty good with tech. Overall, the features on Pages are standard for spreadsheet programs, but it will get the job done for those who aren't looking for a lot of bells and whistles.

Overall: I have a simple program that helps me create my monthly calendar, which I can view easily on either my iPhone or Windows PC.

Pros: Unless you're an accountant or having to work with very big data, this tool will provide you with all the basic use you need. It creates charts, functions, formula and even transfer well to other apple products (like presentation, etc) A ton of time we use spreadsheet software just to open XLS files that partners or clients send us over (we're huge on cloud base software rather than offline apps), so this tool is perfect for quick previews (it opens up rather quick than the other heavy tool) The design and simple and pretty as well. If you ever need any quick chart, there's always beautiful templates and voila, your report is ready :)

Cons: None for me but may not be comprehensive and in-depth enough for users that work with big numbers and data. Plus, it's free, so what is there to complain?

Overall: Numbers has been great for me, light, quick, providing me with all the functions I need and works well with other Mac Apps without any complication.

Pros: What I like about numbers is that its easy for managing work in terms of accounting & computation. Also, with cloud service you can easily access your file in all your devices. With lots of tools inside the program you can easily do your job.

Cons: The least I like about the software is that you wont be able to download or use it in a windows operating system. Also, if you are a windows user you'll be confused at first because the commands are different. But as you progress it becomes more easier.

Pros: I'm not a big fan of spreadsheets, but my day-to-day demands it from me. preparing call sheets, assembly sheets, filming plans and other documents for a shooting would not be possible without such a simple and classic tool as Numbers. For those of us who are Apple users some time ago, it is not a problem to adapt to their interface. It is much simpler and more complete than that of its main competitor.

Cons: It is true that they have simplified the use of formulas in the spreadsheets with the latest updates. However, I still seem one of the main losses of time when making a sheet.

Pros: What I love most about numbers is that it's a blank canvas and gives you the ability to keep and track data exactly the way you want. It's clean, beautiful design keeps the most important data at the forefront and is far less rigid than excel, google sheets, or similar apps. I use numbers to track everything from budget and revenue to client information. I also love that I can update files across devices with iCloud.

Cons: The only con is that it's a little hard to collaborate with non-apple users, but other than that I haven't experienced anything negative with this app.

Pros: As a OS based kind of app (designed to be integrated with the OS features) this application works seamlessly within MacOS and iOS, great cloud integration and easy to use, great combination of templates if you dont want to start from scratch, and does a great job converting MS Excel files and/or exporting to MS Excel. The app does what its supposed to do, and does it gracefully. It has a great explanation of Function uses and is great for collaborative work.

Cons: Coming from MS Excel it lacks some of the functionality in complex operations, and if the functionality is there is not that clear how to get to it, I haven't managed to combine formula results in between pages to add to a more complex formula.

Overall: It is great for quick calculations in time and effort to get visual representation of resouces used when and on what those efforts has been used (kind of Gantt charts) as well as to quick glance of some aditions on the fly on the phones.

Pros: We use Mac computers and Apple portable devices for everything and, in turn, use Numbers for all spreadsheet documents. In conjunction with iCloud, all docs are saved and sharable between devices. The interface is clean and intuitive (logical). Unlike Excel, there's very little learning curve. Lots of easy templates to jump in and start using right away.

Cons: The only "con" would be that the desktop version is a bit of a RAM hog. Maybe because Numbers tends to be rather visual and graphic, it tends to bog other graphic-heavy programs down slightly.

Pros: Sometimes it's hard to love the kind of work that involves spreadsheets. But numbers makes it possible. With the classic Apple polish on the interface and snappy responsiveness, it makes spreadsheets pleasant to work on. Exporting to Excel, CSV, and PDF means that it's truly cross-platform. You don't have to work with a bloated interface just because your colleagues do.

Cons: I wish the formula function was a little bit easier to use.

Pros: If you are an Apple user with simple needs then Numbers is for you. You can build very beautiful spreadsheets very easily with Numbers. It is simple to use but yet powerful.

Cons: Don't kid yourself, this is not an Excel replacement if you are really using the power of Excel. There are numerous powerful functions that Excel does that numbers cannot do. I would like to see them close that gap more.

Overall: It is a great tool for those who live in the Apple ecosystem and need easy to use yet powerful spreadsheets. If you need very powerful tools or exchange sheets with non Apple then stick with Excel.

Pros: Numbers by Apple is a sexier, more intuitive product than it's competitor, Microsoft Excel. If you have an iPhone, iPad and/or Mac, it makes sharing documents across devices so easy. It has real-time team features so your entire team can collaborate on the same document. It's a must have for spreadsheets as you can insert pictures or media, there are templates for budgets, and it's easy to teach new users how to navigate it.

Cons: Most people use PC-based computers/systems in the workplace so you can't send the Numbers spreadsheets you create to people outside the Mac operating system or they aren't able to edit them. Not a software issue, but nonetheless a hassle when using this product.

Cons: There isn't much negative to say about Numbers. Sometimes, the program runs a little slowly but that could be because of my old computer.

Cons: I wish there was a dark mode where the application would be black theme! Sometimes when I open excel sheets in Numbers its not exactly the same as would have been in Excel. Apple is getting better at fixing this but its not 100% yet. Number is lacking in some of the power features that excel has but a lot of people don't use them. Maybe only 5% of users would have issue with this. Numbers is more geared towards presentation of data instead of analysis. The lack of pivot tables.

Pros: - Clean interface, easy to use.

- For all the functionalities I use daily for accounting purpose, it does its job pretty well

- Preinstalled and Free, unlike Office on Windows, you have to get it somewhere

Cons: - Companies still like to use MS Excel or Google Docs. Wish it could be the main stream, but in the short term doesn't look like it's happening.

- Sometimes converting Excel or Google Docs will mess up with the format. Data is copied fine, but the styling or the formula will be lost

I've used Numbers intermittently over the last 5 years.

Pros: The best thing about Numbers, both interface-wise / user-experience wise and output-wise, is it's aesthetically pleasing. If you want to make numbers and data look cool and high tech or display data for a sexy presentation, Numbers is the way to go. You just can't have too complex of an assignment or it likely won't have capabilities that even come close to Microsoft Excel. For simpler projects and presentations, though, Numbers is the most modern and is the most design-heavy program to use when it comes to data charts, graphs, etc.

The only and I mean ONLY thing Google Sheets has over Numbers is Google Sheet projects can be logged into and accessed anywhere with an internet connection where Numbers documents are files. I might use Google Sheets for a simple list or table I need to make and share with someone (i.e. party planning, event planning, etc.) but if I'm using a program for data presentation I'll always pick Numbers.

Cons: I dislike that, feature-wise, it's astronomically sub-par vs. Microsoft Excel. There's no competition. Excel is so much more complex when it comes to features, formulas, updating numbers in charts and graphs automatically, you name it. I'm actually shocked that Apple hasn't cracked it yet since they've obviously nailed it when it comes to cell phones and computers and are giving PowerPoint a run for their money with Keynote. Numbers and Pages just don't cut it and Numbers will never be used by a finance person or data analyst until hundreds of more features are added and ease of use becomes more similar to Excel since so many are used to that user-experience.

Another huge issue is newer Numbers rollouts are incompatible with old Numbers documents. Even if new updates are rolled out and way more features are added or features are removed (only if problematic, though) a Numbers-made document should ALWAYS be able to open no matter what iteration of the program is out. Unless it's decades later. But 5 years later isn't acceptable.

Pros: Numbers is a good and reliable spreadsheets software. I find it at times more intuitive than other similar products (you can figure out how to do things by yourself, without having to navigate in tons of menus). It works pretty well for basic filtering and sorting contents, and you can use it to create nice looking graphics.

Cons: I wish I could work with different formats, but having to keep saving in several different formats each time is a little bit annoying. Like, sometimes I'm working on a spreadsheet originally created in another format, and if I hit save to continue working in my project, it will ask me to create a new file with their .numbers extension. And sometimes it will conflict with the other file, and you may end up losing some of the work. I wish it had better compatibility with other formats.

Overall: Data analysis.

Pros: I find Numbers to be extremely useful and convenient since I am able to open workbooks on my computer, or even out in the field on my iPad or iPhone and make quick adjustments as needed! The functions were translated to the various formats really well and are instantly learned if your familiar with the desktop version.

Cons: There have been instances on occasion when I needed to complete a task in Numbers and it was slightly more clicks than had I used Excel.

Cons: Limited - I dont understand why Apple does not put mail merge function into either Numbers or Pages! I hate anything Microsoft and refuse to put Word on my Mac, but I get really frustrated that I can not easily make mailing labels.

Overall: I use numbers to create all kind of spreadsheets and databases to keep track of teams, events, and budgets for our church.

Pros: Every update of this software seems to just get better and better. Numbers now has everything I need to create an informative and appealing spreadsheet. It definitely does not have all the features of some of it's spreadsheet competitors, but for my business it serves its purpose and I love the mobile layout and free-form canvas. Spreadsheets I created on excel are easily available (through the cloud) and are easy to view and edit. Having to create speadsheets on a mobile device, as I often do, is definitely more tedious than using a desktop, but Numbers makes it as painfree as possible to create a great looking and informative document.

Cons: It is still more basic than other spreadsheet programs, but depending on your business and what you are using it for it might be all you need.

Pros: Numbers comes free with Mac Book Pro. It has all the functions of a quality data base program and spreadsheet. The help feature is easy to search and and use. Changes are saved automatically saving you from lost work during unanticapated shut downs.

Cons: Takes a little time to transition if you are an excel user. Understanding that changes to the table are made under the Table tab and not the general tool bar is the key to using it quickly and efficiently.

Pros: Numbers is for the most part more intuitive for me to use. I find that it also produces more visually appealing and compelling visualizations of the data. Numbers also has wonderful integration with the rest of the iWork Suite (Keynote, Pages) which has greatly improved my work flow when making presentations that include representations of data sets. The adaptability of numbers to function on my laptop, iPad and iPhone also is incredibly useful.

Cons: I do find that the more graphical approach to the formulas component within numbers to be a bit clunky at first in comparison to other spreadsheet software which present this in a slightly more barebones and straightforward manner, but there is a learning curve to functions regardless.

Overall: If you are an apple product user the seamless integration of Numbers and the stunning outputs make it a worthwhile investment.

Pros: Works really nice across all my devices (iPhone, iPad, MacBook). I LOVE the sharing feature (working with multiple people on the same document).

Cons: I do not like the web application that much. Its cool for people without an apple product but some basic features like copy and paste style are missing. (Just the style, not the text etc)

When working with diagrams:

Creating a diagram is easy. But it is really hard to configure the axis and labels for the axis. For example I would like to have a diagram that shows the measured voltage as its Y-value and the X-axis should show the time in nano seconds. After trying for a while I was able to show just 5 values for the time on the x-axis. But the labels showed "0.98" and "1.96" and so on. I want to have even values like "1" and "2". It would be better to read.

Addition to diagrams:

A cool feature would be to add vertical lines to a diagram. For example I want to highlight a specific period inside the diagram. That is not possible (just horizontal lines). So I have to add smart-art-lines to the diagram.

Overall: Its (at least for me) easier to use than Microsoft Excel. Its easy to use. That's a huge benefit.

Pros: Numbers is easy to use and makes it easy to manage multiple tables on a single sheet which makes visualizing data the way I want more intuitive. Personally for certain data, I like using a native app and keeping local files. For information that requires more collaboration over time, I'd use a cloud based solution instead, but Numbers has its place for me as well.

Cons: It is true that for business use it is better to have tools that are more cloud based, and the fact that this isn't and that you will have to export excel files separate every time you save if collaborating with Windows users can be frustrating.

Overall: I use numbers for managing and organizing lists of leads that aren't ready to go into the CRM yet, and for business reports and projections that don't need cloud based collaboration.

Pros: Like everything about Apple, it's very easy to use and it just looks beautiful. Let's say you're not a professional and you don't need something too advanced. Numbers is then a better choice than Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Numbers doesn't require much effort to make a nice chart or data sheet. And it also works just perfectly with both Mac and iOS, so you'll always feel right at home if you have both.

Cons: Numbers still doesn't have as much functionality as other alternatives. But if you are going to use numbers, it's probably because you don't need anything too difficult. And Numbers is a great app for that.

Overall: If you have a Mac and/or an iOS device and you don't need something very advanced, Numbers is a great app for spreadsheets. I've been using it for quite a while, and I really love it when I need a simple but beautiful spreadsheet or a chart, and I don't have time to work with MS Excel. It's simple, it works well enough, it has most of the functionality I need. I love it.

Pros: Easy to use and navigate. The formatting and templates look really great and translate really well over to keynote. I love the built-in help which makes any questions I have get quickly answered. I like that it is compatible with Excel and Google Docs.

Cons: Sometimes exporting from Excel can cause some issues with the formatting and don't perfectly translate and need some editing. I would just say that since not everyone uses apple products it is a bit more difficult to work within the office and to compete with excel.

Overall: Pretty good experience with Numbers. Been using it for a while and have been trying to get more people in my office to use it. It's a bit of a learning curve for those who aren't used to it but the support helps and the conversions from Docs or Excel help.

I always use the templates and remove what I don't need and I find that that works best for me. I have also built documents from scratch before and that was pretty simple too.

Pros: Numbers is a great solution for those who want to better understand number management softwares. It came preloaded on my Mac. (as it does with every new Mac purchase) As a user of Microsoft's Excel as well, I can definitely say Numbers has an impressive amount of features that dwarf my experience with Excel. It's layout is easy to understand in comparison to it's competition. The large number of buttons and tabs in excel is simplified in Numbers into a few buttons that are continuous across all of Apple's iWork Softwares.

Cons: While it's powerful, you get what you pay for. While I don't really have much of anything negative to say, it does lack in the amount of programed formulas you can use as compared to Excel.

Cons: Having most of my formative experiences with spreadsheets in Excel has biased me, as I'm sure it has many others, against Numbers. While I'm sure the software is perfectly useful, the interruptions in workflow caused by my having to look up how to do something in Numbers that I can easily do in Excel make it unlikely that I will ever make the switch to Apple's spreadsheet. Apple should increase the overlap in functionality between the two softwares if they ever want people to use Numbers.

Pros: I have used Numbers as a student making projects for class. The reason I like using numbers instead of other similar programs is that Numbers allows you to customize the look of your graph, table, chart, etc. in many more ways than its competitors. I loved using numbers when I needed to make graphs presentable for presentations and posters.

Cons: I wish that Numbers had all of the functionality of Microsoft Excel. Excel is much better at creating complex spreadsheets, and dealing with very larger data sets - something that I have yet to figure out how to do with Numbers. It would be great to see Numbers expand their computing ability to mach Excel so there was more functionality with the same ability to create great looking charts and tables.

Pros: Even as a complete novice the software is intuitive enough to create basic spreadsheets using basic formulas and functions. These are understandable and the UI doesn't try to hide or hinder this. For more advanced users it is very easy to create quite detailed spreadsheets and to make them look pretty! Something often underestimated - data should be easily understood and readable. Easy to open and export multiple different file types.

Cons: Some more complex features and formula feel hidden. Can be a bit slow opening certain file types.

Overall: Numbers allows us to understand and interpret our finances clearly. With ease we can extrapolate information on hourly rates and productivity and see what projects are most profitable.

Pros: Very easy to make page layouts, Numbers is a spreadsheet with design and presentation at its core. Saveable sort-lists make managing data easy. Consistent tools across the Mac platform make it user-friendly for Mac users.

Cons: Doesn't quite offer the same level of functionality as Excel. Not as intuitive if you use files with a large number of sheets.

Pros: I like the overall user experience, it's easy to create spreadsheets and graphics. It also have some nice templates for different purposes.

Furthermore, with iCloud we're able to share documents between devices with ease.

Cons: I actually feel that it lacks some of the complexity of Excel, if you really want to work with data and structured information.

This is a great alternative to Excel and works seamlessly through iCloud for sharing.

Pros: This is easy to use software and works great through iCloud for sharing, or for syncing between multiple computers. I work on several different computers and love that I can call up a Numbers sheet no matter where I'm working and have all my work sync'd.

I like being able to combine other elements within my Numbers document rather than it being one giant spreadsheet and nothing else. It's nice to work with spreadsheet values in addition to supportive material in a full layout in numbers.

Cons: It feels buggy when I click on a table and have the additional borders margins and table handle show up. It makes it difficult to move things accurately because visuals will overlap.

Pros: This app is very easy to use. There are so many different options when it comes to types of charts and spreadsheets that you can either create or use one of their helpful templates. I can use this app for home and for work to figure out my financing for regular bills, and or large or small projects. I can also use it to plan meals, my work schedule, and even keep track of how often I exercise.

Cons: There is not much that I would change about this app. I just wish that it was accessible on my android tablet and my HP computer at work, because sometimes it is hard to see on my iphone 5s.

Overall: I have been able to fine tune my personal budget. I have also been able to very easily create a schedule for my employees.

Pros: Apple Numbers is a really good program - so good that some of our workers decided to continue using it after we made the switch over to Google Sheets. While Sheets may let us share work with each other, it will never come close to the feature set that Numbers has.

Cons: Numbers has a lot of pros, but with pros there's always cons. There is a steep learning curve - very steep. At first glance, someone who has never used this will never make it past the first box. Finding where things are and how to work with some of the features will take a while, but after that working with it is a breeze.

Overall: Numbers can be an invaluable tool when the connection to data servers is less than optimal, as a local solution while the connection problem is fixed. Although some computers here run Excel, the employees who have stuck with Numbers have stayed at the same level of productivity as those who use Sheets, or Excel.

Pros: As mentioned in the title, this is a good product. It's very easy to use and works well even with excel files. The functions are all very similar to what you already have learned from excel so you don't have to be nervous about using it. It also is really easy to make some stunning looking spreadsheets (if there is such a thing).

Cons: Sometimes it's ease-of-use and simplicity make it feel like it's a little "under powered" or lacking in features or options. Also, I have noticed some performance issues on large spreadsheets with lots of calculations when trying to scroll.

Overall: Overall, I have had no issues with numbers. I prefer it to excel because it's so much easier to use and has a better design.

Pros: It is built into my Mac, so it always there for me. After you figure out how to use it, it is fairly easy to figure out what to do, but I haven't done anything sophisticated with it.

Cons: I'm more comfortable with Excel and the Open Office Cal version of spreadsheets. I get lost trying to do things that I've learned to do easily on Excel and Open Office. It took a small miracle to figure out how to alphabetize a column and have the data follow it. Getting the printer to not give me tons of extra pages of blank columns is sometimes challenging. I use Quickbooks for my business and only need spreadsheets for either very simple things or to do a budget for the non-profit. I'm not an accountant to put everything into a spreadsheet. I still struggle with functions and often wonder if I'm getting the "right answer".

Overall: I can do rudimentary spreadsheet tasks, but the learning curve on this has been much higher than Excel or Open Office version was. Maybe because I don't use Numbers as much as the other two, I'm still feeling like it takes me longer to build a sheet than in the other two.

Overall: I started using this app since i bought my first MacBook on 2012, at first i found it difficult to steer on the application for the reason that i was familiar only with excel but after a few month of continuous usage, i found out that the numbers' platform and design is way more easy to use than the other. Pros: I love that Numbers is native to Mac and that it just simple works. It has a very clean and intuitive interface and so simple to accomplish whatever I need. Plus, since most of our offices are on PCs, I can easily export to Microsoft Office with one click. The entire iWork suite of software is perfectly amazing,

Cons: The mobile interface isn't wonderful for updating spreadsheets. It takes a little bit to get used to the drop down menus needed to edit a cell. Typically I only use the mobile app for viewing information and I'll use the computer mostly for making edits.

Cons: I think Numbers will fulfill the needs for most users that need a spreadsheet software, however, if you are a power user there are some functions that are not available yet.

Pros: I can collaborate with friends or family on a shared spreadsheet. It is simple enough to use where I can be efficient even if I am in a hurry. I can create one page with multiple tabs rather than creating multiple separate pages which makes it easier to navigate through my spreadsheets.

Cons: For the times I DO want to access more features for a more in depth spreadsheet (RARE), I would need to resort to Microsoft Excel.

Overall: Numbers is a helpful software. Short and sweet, which fits well into my lifestyle. I am a visual person, so I create spreadhsheets for many aspects of my day to day life. This software is basic and easy to use. It contains all of what is needed, no more, no less. I don't often have to resort to Excel when I need more technical features, so the lack of features does not bother me one bit. I have yet to interact with customer service as I have not had any problems. I appreciate the option to create a spreadsheet with multiple attached tabs so I can easily navigate through all of them without having to save multiple separate pages (which would take much longer to open one at a time, closing the previous). Two thumbs up from me!

Pros: Numbers is the perfect tool for spreadsheets. The number one feature we love the most is collaboration. In real time, multiple team members can edit and add data in a shared spreadsheet with multiple pages and tables. Its reliability, ease of use and well-done design make it a frequently used and beloved tool of ours.

Cons: Apple's customer support is not the best, as we all may know. However, the tool is so popular that there's enough info about it out there that'll likely help you fix your issue.

Overall: Numbers pushes the boundaries of productivity combining design with functionality. It's complexity, yet ease of use make it a tool we'll never be willing to exchange for Excel, or similar.

Pros: When ever I download Excel/CSV files I need an easy way to open/edit edit files locally, I use Numbers. I love the fact it comes pre-installed on my machine, without having to visit the app store.

Cons: I'm not a very demanding user of Numbers, so I'm usually doing pretty basic editing (recoloring cells, removing columns etc.). From what I understand, Numbers is a bit more limiting if you want to do any more advanced calculation type of work. Note, I've only heard this second-hand, however.

Overall: Sometimes working on a local file is the fastest way to make edits before sending to a client. Numbers give us this option, without having to download a third-party app (as it comes pre-installed on our Macs)

Pros: Compared to Excel for Mac, Numbers just feels a lot nicer and smoother to use. It also has a few features (such as checkbox data type) that Excel doesn't offer. It also handles UTF-8 in CSV files much better than Excel.

The online collaboration tools are fine for smaller documents, and the export to Excel function (essential considering most people wouldn't know what to do with a .numbers file) works really well including all formatting, formulas etc.

Numbers also benefits hugely from MacOS versioning, which is almost a hidden feature at this point, but incredibly useful - you can go back to any historic version of your document and restore it, or even just pull a single number or table from it and copy back to your current version.

Cons: As soon as I started using Numbers for larger projects, I started to encounter very serious issues, such as chunks of data disappearing (thankfully I was able to pull them back using versioning). CPU and memory usage also became very high for larger documents (when compared to Excel), and for documents in iCloud, the entire document continuously syncs to iCloud every few seconds making for a lot of data usage if your document is, say, 3MB.

Overall: I still use Numbers all the time for small, quick calculations, as I prefer the UX to Excel. However, having had more than one case of disappearing data in much larger documents, I wouldn't use it for a major project again.

Pros: I recently moved from Windows to Mac and I love how easy it's been to convert my old Excel documents to Numbers. The app retained all of the formatting (minus the propriety fonts). I find Numbers less overwhelming and easier to navigate than Excel. I didn't want to use an exclusively cloud based solution like Google Sheets where Google has access to all my documents all the time (but I don't!). Numbers was an excellent choice! iCloud provides a happy local/cloud medium.

Cons: If you're moving over from Excel or Sheets, it can take a minute to get use to the way Numbers handles formulas and calculations. Working with the sidebar formatting interface is a little different too. You might also not like that Numbers can't just simply convert your old documents. They will need to be loaded into the app and then saved as a native file.

Overall: I use Numbers for pre-invoicing, budgeting, and most of my other business and financial needs now. It's been a wonderful surprise moving over to Mac.

Pros: Numbers is very easy to use and is compatible with every apple device (except apple watch). It is amazing being able to start a project on a phone and pick it up later on a laptop. Anyone that has used Microsoft excel will be able to use this right away and if you never have used either of these it will still be easy to get started.

Cons: I'm pretty sure this hasn't had any big updated in a while so it may be behind on features compared to say google sheets. However, it is still an incredible software to use.

Overall: This came in handy for making invoices, time sheets and a lot more. I could start on my phone during the morning then pick it back up on my computer later on in the day.

Pros: I like numbers, manipulating numbers, projecting numbers, and analyzing numbers, and this spreadsheet software makes it so easy for me to make my projections and analyses in ways that I never dreamt of. It's easy to use the templates or to start from scratch. And the drag and drop feature is a dream.

Cons: I don't think I can truly find anything I don't like about this software. I find it's a lot easier to use than any other spreadsheet platform, and a lot prettier to look at.

Pros: Numbers is very consistent with what you'd expect from an Apple software. The UI/UX is predictably pleasing, clean and streamlined. I'm not sure that it offers much more than any other spreadsheet software, but since I only use it for basic spreadsheet needs (e.g. keeping track of my expenses, or logging the hours I've spent on something), this has not been an issue for me.

Cons: I have struggled on numerous occasions to use the functions (e.g. summing up the values of a column or row or converting them to a different value), despite troubleshooting on the internet, the 'help' function, etc. The templates are also underwhelming.

Overall: We use numbers because we have Macs and some people in the office still prefer to use excel.

It is a good system that can do pretty much everything you would expect from it however due to the fact most people seem to use excel I find myself having to convert Numbers docs to excel in order to send them to people and obviously this can always lead to formatting issues.

Pros: I don't need pivot tables and complex conditional formulas. Thank goodness. In those power-user cases I have no doubt Excel is still the place to go for Spreadsheets. But Numbers comes with a new Mac, runs on most platforms (through the web app) and is just so much more approachable than excel. Getting started is so easy that someone who wouldn't think of using a spreadsheet might just do so thanks to Numbers.

Cons: Power users will likely be disappointed by a lack of complicated calculations (last I checked anyways). I'm not so concerned with that, but numbers' small user base makes it a difficult sell to someone looking for a professional spreadsheet app. Google Sheets is also free to use and is used by MANY MORE people than Numbers. Pity though, because Numbers is pretty fantastic at what it does well.

Overall: I use numbers to open Excel files that are shared with me, edit simple data exports from web apps and build simple planning spreadheets like a project budget. It works well for these tasks and I enjoy using it.

Also, Numbers saves itself and always is reliable. In my years of using it, I have never had it crash on me. Not once.

Cons: There is nothing in my mind that stands out about Numbers poorly.

Pros: It is easy to use even if self-taught. Its very intuitive and does things automaticly that excell does not.

Cons: Really cant think of anything that is not working good

Overall: I had no prior experience with Numbers before and can now make spreadsheets wuth ease. This has help me in my new business and also in my volunteer work.

Pros: The thing I like the most is that I can Work on the same project in different devices, I been using this software every day since 2 Years ago.

Cons: Is that on tablet or cellphone it's still hard to try and drag multiple cells to copy paste, I wish I could work faster in this 2 devices

It will never be Excel, but it's still pretty good.

Pros: Number will never be the powerhouse that Excel is. I'm sure Apple has worked to get Numbers to match Excel in terms of features etc but it has never had the same feel as Excel. It gets the job done and can do all of the things I need it to do, but not without some issues.

Cons: The part I like the least about Numbers (at least the last version I used) was the inspector opened in a separate window that would hide when you worked on the spreadsheet. Excel is nice that it opens on the side and stays in front. The Numbers Inspector is a bit annoying in this sense, and perhaps they have changed it recently.

Overall: Usually packaged with a new Mac computer so it's nice to have the free version.

Pros: I like the ability to add multimedia to a sheet and move groups of cells around. For more graphical data it really outshines the competitors.

Cons: Formula entry is not as easy as Excel but is probably easier for a non power user. (Like when you don't have formulas memorized. )
