### "Numbers by Apple"

August 30, 2023

5.0

Pros

Numbers" by Apple has really improved my experience with spreadsheets compared to other software I've used before. One thing I love is how easy it is to create and manage my projects due to its user-friendly interface. The fact that multiple people can work on the same sheet together in real-time is a huge plus.

Cons

To be extremely honest there is nothing that I liked the least I am fan of it.

### "Numbers - the prettier Excel?"

June 21, 2023

5.0

Numbers is great and since it comes free with every Mac is just a click away to test but one should be aware of its limitations and different approach to formulas in some ways.

Pros

I like the simplicity of it in some ways. The obvious spreadsheet app to compare it to is Microsoft Excel. I use the latter for more complicated analysis but for simple spreadsheets that should look good, Numbers is the favorite.

Cons

Numbers seems more geared towards the marketing team or the communications guru than the geek who wants to crunch data. Once I wade into more complex territory I always switch back to Excel because I know how to do it there and entering the more involved formulas feels different und unfamiliar (more clicking, less typing).

Intuitive to use. Seamless integration with Apple operating systems.

Pros

Very versatile for a free software. I love that it easily and fully integrates with all Apple OS and iOS applications.

Cons

Lacks some of the maneuverability of Excel.

### "Great Spreadsheet Tool, MS Excel Alternative"

April 15, 2021

5.0

Numbers has given me an affordable and convenient way to manage and analyze data. This has allowed me to grow and develop my business and generally makes my life much easier!

Pros

This is a great tool for keeping track of any simple or complex data lists and databases. Whether I'm creating a way to keep track of clients, products, projects, or even generate infographics and analyze numbers and data, I turn to Numbers, both in my professional and personal life. When needed, it is very simple to export files to PDF, CSV, PSV, or Excel and upload to wherever I like. Unlike MS Excel, this software is very affordable and doesn't require you to pay for access every year, and unlike Google Sheets, you can access this tool when you're offline and have a much broader selection of functions at your disposal.

Cons

Various functions and tools on Numbers are not the same as in MS Excel, so if you're working with someone who has the more widely-used software, there are occasionally some compatibility issues.

### "Numbers for Apple"

October 3, 2019

3.0

Numbers has been usefull at times that there is no Microsoft Excel Available, due to the way that it is basically the same product, just from a different company.

Pros

Numbers is a software that has different features, but realisticly its the “excel” version of apple. I liked the most the connectivity it brings with all apple devices and through all aplle softwares such as the document sharing platform they have.

Cons

I liked the least about Numbers the way that it is not compatible sometimes at the moments of sending the document to a third party, meaning by this that sometimes the data gets corrupted or even it changes the physical appearance of the document, so when its opened its a completely different document.

### "Time-Proven System!"

April 7, 2022

5.0

Numbers has allowed us to dive deeper and gain more clarity of our organizations' financial inflows and outflows on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis. Using numbers we've reduced our annual overheard by about 30% total over the last 2 years and increased our overall gross inflow operational efficiency by about 50% in that same time period. We are now working less, while growing our bottom line and impact in our community more than ever before... and we have Numbers to thank for this!

Pros

Numbers is by far one of, if not THE most, intuitive cell based analytical mathematical systems to use for personal or financial record keeping, analysis, etc. It's continued to improve year after year and the ability to insert graphs, charts, and integrate other cells and pages within the same program is uncanny!

Cons

There's now very little I don't like. previous versions of Numbers has issues linking and aligning other spreadsheets and specific cells into different sheets in different categories I had created within the program I had created for our organization. This is no longer the case, and it's actually a strength of the software now!

### "Great for Budgeting"

August 31, 2023

5.0

Overall, this is nothing flashy, but very similar to Excel. The main difference is that it's best used for small data sets.

Pros

This is a very easy to use product that is seamless, as most Apple UI's are. This is a perfect budgeting tool, or smaller dataset product.

Cons

Not being able to work with a ton of data was difficult. Would like to have all work within one product.

### "An Excellent Free Alternative to Excel"

May 28, 2020

5.0

Numbers is an excellent alternative to Excel, and you certainly can't beat the price tag of free! It integrates seamlessly into the Apple suite of business programs, and provides many of the same functionalities that users familiar with the Microsoft Office suite have come to expect. There are some limitations when it comes to navigation and file formatting, but those are easily forgivable when you consider this is a free option. I use Numbers often and would recommend it to anyone who is a Mac user.

Pros

\*Similar functionalities as Excel \*A wide array of functions, equations, organizational structures \*An easy to navigate user interface that feels very "Apple" \*It comes prepackaged free with most iMacs/Macbooks \*Able to export to an .xls file if necessary for sharing with Microsoft users

Cons

\*While it offers many of the same functionalities as Excel, some of the same features are organized in a completely different way, which means navigation/implementation isn't always intuitive. \*While the design feels very "Apple," it can sometimes look over-simplistic for those more familiar with Excel. \*There aren't as many third-party applications that recognize the Numbers default file format.

### "Keeps My Bills Straight"

May 7, 2020

5.0

It really helped me, a budgeting novice, take control of my budget and to organize other projects (home repairs or other projects).

Pros

The reason I use this the most is for my monthly bills. I set up a spreadsheet in Numbers and then track all my spending on bills. The key to this software for me is accessibility. I can input information wherever I am utilizing The Cloud, so that means my phone, computer or even a browser on any computer by logging into icloud.com. So if I want to add a bill, edit the amount, mark it as paid, or access some other spreadsheet I can do it at my convenience. Most of the time its on my phone. It is close enough to Excel that you can learn it easily or convert files between Number and Excel. If you've never used a spreadsheet app, I think you will find it even easier than Excel.

Cons

There are some features that will take a little hunting to find at first, but some searches in the help menu or a web search will help you out on this front. It's a little tricky to use on the phone for some things, but for the most part pretty easy.

Reason for choosing Numbers

### "Great for professional use"

June 15, 2022

4.0

Numbers is a great app for personal, day-to-day use. I have my budget, my little notes, some expenses all organised in Numbers. It feels somewhat difficult though to use it professionally given the fact that everyone expects you to send excel files.

Pros

Despite its nature, this app is pretty simple, offers great customisation of sheets. It sort of lets you focus on a specific area of a sheet instead of sort of thinking of the entire sheet. most useful options are conveniently located to your right.

Cons

Options which show to your right are somewhat limited. You will find that you have to dig a little deeper in the menu options to find the feature you are looking for.

### "Good for quick number workups. Unsuitable for larger projects."

September 1, 2018

3.0

I still use Numbers all the time for small, quick calculations, as I prefer the UX to Excel. However, having had more than one case of disappearing data in much larger documents, I wouldn't use it for a major project again.

Pros

Compared to Excel for Mac, Numbers just feels a lot nicer and smoother to use. It also has a few features (such as checkbox data type) that Excel doesn't offer. It also handles UTF-8 in CSV files much better than Excel. The online collaboration tools are fine for smaller documents, and the export to Excel function (essential considering most people wouldn't know what to do with a .numbers file) works really well including all formatting, formulas etc. Numbers also benefits hugely from MacOS versioning, which is almost a hidden feature at this point, but incredibly useful – you can go back to any historic version of your document and restore it, or even just pull a single number or table from it and copy back to your current version.

Cons

As soon as I started using Numbers for larger projects, I started to encounter very serious issues, such as chunks of data disappearing (thankfully I was able to pull them back using versioning). CPU and memory usage also became very high for larger documents (when compared to Excel), and for documents in iCloud, the entire document continuously syncs to iCloud every few seconds making for a lot of data usage if your document is, say, 3MB.

### "Numbers can rock collaborative spreadsheets"

September 24, 2021

5.0

It’s been great. Apple is always adding new features and it’s simple for new would be excel users to learn. And it’s free!

Pros

Ok, so I’ve done a review on excel but I have to say numbers beats the heck out of excel in regards to sharing and editing spreadsheets. Like just kills Microsoft with a bang.

Cons

It’s only for Apple devices. I understand why but if numbers would work on PC too then it would be awesome. Because it’s just easy snd super great to share a sheet with someone… alas not if they us a pc.

Pros

Easy to use features, clean style, collaborative friendly (within the Apple users community), great at what the program is used for. Personally I used it for work and as well personal needs (wether financial or organisational). Great for team usage as well!

Cons

### "The best free app for your data"

Pros

I like that it's free and I like the fact that I can access it on all my devices. This allows me to work from anywhere and have everything that I need in one space

Cons

### "Reliable software at it's finest!"

May 7, 2020

5.0

Keeping up with payroll and inventory is so simple. If you think it in your mind, you can do it in Numbers. That's how \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] always wanted things to be. It helps keep the day-to-day of managing your assets a simple task. One less headache to deal with in an already complicated business setting.

Pros

The ease of use with Numbers is unparalleled, in my opinion. It comes with the reliability that you expect with the trusted name, Apple. I use it on all my Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, iMac) and do not like using other products. Since it's able to save in either Numbers, .xlsx, and .pdf formats it makes it so simple to send and share with other users. I mostly use it for inventory and payroll information, but the actual templates you can choose from are endless! It also automatically saves your work for you, so you never have to sweat potentially losing your valuable spreadsheet information. You can also add password protection on sensitive information spreadsheets. Definitely can't beat all that!

Cons

On the mobile apps I wish it was a lot more encompassing like the desktop version. You lose some of the features, templates, and functionality that the desktop version showcases.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Numbers

I've learned that software AND hardware from Apple tend to last a lot longer. Now that Numbers is free to all Apple users, there is no comparison. ### "Good software if you have an Apple device but still worse than Google Sheets or Excel"

June 14, 2023

3.0

Working with Numbers feels nice, it is beautiful and to perform stunning presentations it's just the best software but to work with big data or where you have to do many calculations, I feel like I have to trust Excel or Google Sheets more.

Pros

The visual aspect is good, it is just beautiful and it's very nice to do some company reports because it's like mixing Canva with Excel, it takes the best from both softwares in the more hardcore tools but also the aesthetic.

Cons

It does not have that many functions or features than Excel or Google Sheets and some plots are not correctly shown afterwards in these others softwares.
