### "Substitute for Excel"

April 15, 2022

3.0

Pros

Pre-installed in my Apple MacBook so for a long while I have to use it as my spreadsheet at home, until the day I joined a family plan on Microsoft Office Suite and managed to get Excel back for personal use. For a free program, it does all the basic functions of a spreadsheet with acceptable degree of sophistication.

Cons

Some syntax is different from Excel so it takes some time to adjust. The notes on the cell have a different format than Excel so when the spreadsheet is re-imported the notes look weird. Some macro didn't work and some more advanced functions which required Add-In were not available in Numbers, so for personal use it is adequate but for real professional work it is still no threat to Excel

### "basic, but so user friendly."

October 19, 2023

5.0

I remember when Numbers came out. It was basic, but so user friendly. And themes lookeed great. this is the positive point of numbers.

Pros

I consider that for simple things, numbers are the most valid option, which translates into day-to-day life. It is true that if you need something more complex, it may not be the best option. But since this is not my case, I am happy with numbers.

Cons

Numbers app for Mac doesn't let you open & save .csv files directly... you have to first save as a .numbers file and/or do the extra step of File -> Export To -> CSV.

### "If you're Mac-brained, it's a no-brainer!"

January 12, 2021

5.0

Numbers makes sense to my head. When I look at Excel, it just makes my head hurt with the countless options. That alone is a selling point.

Pros

I LOVE this app! I've been using it for almost 10 years and a variety of business types: tracking expenses and grant reporting for a small non-profit, reports for non-profit; personal goal tracking, and for the last four years for a small cosmetic formulation company, to keep track of formulations, and data on ingredients. I love how intuitive it is and seamless with Pages and Keynote.

Cons

I wish it was more intuitive with moving things around within the file. You can make different sheets, but within each sheet it's a giant blank canvas. When you move into printing - that's where it can get really frustrating. I would love if it were easier to move things around and know while you're working "this rectangle here translates to a normal sheet of paper."

Reason for choosing Numbers

Excel was overwhelming to me. I just needed basic spreadsheet capabilities, with Mac (and Mac-brain) capabilities.

### "Great spreadsheet application for apple eco system"

August 23, 2019

5.0

I use Numbers on my iPhone to manage my project timelines. It is very easy and accessible any time. All the features that should present in a spreadsheet are available in the application. Very smooth and for the synchronisation with the iCloud it consumes considerably lower amount of data.

Pros

It is already installed on iOS by default. Can collaboratively work on multiple devices and also support sharing with others. Can be accessed from any IOS device. The interesting thing related to free form canvas, the images, charts and graphs can be dragged to any where and place any where. Auto completion of spreadsheet related equations is also another great feature. By selecting the relevant table a graph can be generated, plenty of graph templates are also available.

Cons

There is no any version of this application for android, windows or linux. If we need to access the document from non apple device we have to use the web browser to navigate to iCloud. Other than that it runs smoothly on older apple devices without any trouble.

### "Numbers for easy and quick access"

April 13, 2023

4.0

My overall experience with Numbers has been amazing as it has enabled me to move from different site meetings without having to carry bulky files and laptops

Pros

The most impactful features for me are the easy access to files, easy transfers of data and files and the very user friendly options as a mobile App. I am very often out of office for site meetings. So with the ability to access the files via icloud, I am able to quickly and easily access the files for reviews, updates and sharing

Cons

The major downfall for me when using numbers is the inability to access files in the absence of internet connection

### "Il foglio elettronico per ambiente Apple"

October 17, 2022

3.0

### "Best Alternative for Excel"

October 6, 2019

4.0

Even though I still prefer excel over numbers but I feel that for a Macbook user, this is the best alternative. Easy and similar interface to excel, this is the best software to use if you are a macbook user

Pros

My Macbook actually stalled running excel and it was important that I find a program that would have all the spreadsheet capabilities. I checked numbers and found it to be really good, it had all the same functionality and was possible to convert to excel format which was the most important feature

Cons

Compatibility with Excel and other programs. When saving the file, you have to ensure that you export it in the correct format otherwise the other person will not be able to open the file. Also, due to different platforms if excel file is opened, it changes the fonts and formats so you have to set all the details again.

### "Great Excel alternative, especially for Apple/Mac users"

October 19, 2023

4.0

Pros

I really like that Numbers is available through web browsers to access in iCloud, as well as the native iOS, iPad OS, and MacOS apps.

Cons

There are not too many negatives I can think of for the software. For me personally, it has provided me with all that I have needed.

### "Finally - an alternative to excel"

March 23, 2020

5.0

Numbers is easy to learn, easy to use, and you can even run meetings and presentations from the product with no issues.

Pros

My company mainly uses Apple Products and Macs, so we needed a proper alternative to excel. Numbers has all the features and functionality that we need, including complex macros and functions. It works seamlessly on our Macbooks

Cons

Sometimes I wish there were more customization formatting options for graphs and charts. It would be nice to quickly change the size and color and shape of these graphs without having to re-click at the menu bar every time.

### "We want Numbers '09 instead"

October 17, 2018

3.0

We like Numbers '09 best, then the new Numbers, the least is Excel.

Pros

Compared to Excel, we really like Numbers, which can mix tables, pictures, and text whatever you like. It is so easy to arrange them. It looks very simple, but tedious when you need to find and complete a little complicated tasks. We like the old Numbers '09 easy control panels and quick adjustments.

Cons

The current Numbers is a so call updated version of Numbers '09. It's not true. To us, it's a downgrade. Why not just work on the base of powerful Numbers '09 instead of a brand new version with so much trade-off, just to favor iOS version. So bad decision. We insist to use Number '09 whenever possible. However, we are forced to use the newest Numbers when we want easy iCloud sync and collaboration.

### "Not Excel at all, but still very good"

December 12, 2018

5.0

At the end of the day Numbers is the choice of the worker who is just wanting to add some data and who is not going into the deep with details or who wants to do some big data analysis. For this you better Excel which is worth the money. But students, office workers and entrepreneurs should take Numbers because it's for free and offers almost the same features which you get with Excel.

Pros

It's free, this is a good point, and the quality of the software is also great. So these are the two points which already make it an important competitor. Numbers also has almost all functions you know from Excel and integrates some features to explain them while you are typing them in. This is good for newcomers and students. The interface is good and friendly. It's not the typical office software interface. The software starts fast, this is really cool.

Cons

You can't work on macros which is a big plus if you used Excel by Microsoft and the handling of Numbers when you create charts - especially 3D charts - is not perfect. The file format is numbers, so it is likely that, if you import an xls-file, not everything will work as it should in Numbers. Maybe you can't open Numbers-files in Excel, too.

### "a much more visual spreadsheet"

April 12, 2023

the option to customize existing templates is definitely a plus

Pros

What I would highlight most about this tool is the facility to create fully customizable spreadsheets with images and tables. It is an easy to use tool that gives you much more visual options since you can generate graphics quite easily.

Cons

when you are working with the program you need to save to preview certain changes, this is a small inconvenience

### "Perfect for Apple eco-system"

February 24, 2021

5.0

Great, on Apple device. You can work offline and sync documents automatically online when you're connected again.

Pros

Amazing easy of use. Incredibly fast to find functions and options. A standard for Apple Users, i think other software house must get inspired from it. AMAZING integration with iCloud. You can work offline.

Cons

Perfect integration ONLY on Apple eco-system, for the rest of thw world you need to access to it only trough browser, and sometime it's not the perfect solutions. Not great such as other software in document sharing.

### "One of the bests for sure; but not for touch screens"

July 19, 2019

4.0

In overall, Numbers is free of charge and this makes your concerns reduced. The performance is not the best but above average. I'm happy in overall.

Pros

Well, first of all it's free with all Apple devices. Secondly, the performance for MAC and iOS is the best we have.Thirdly, the interface is very simple and clean. İf you dont deal with complex files with lots of macros etc.; then this tool will work for you properly all the time. Lastly it's compatible with google docs and excel. Although it gives some importing issues time to time, compatibility is very important as it gives you flexibility. IOS versions works well on ipad and iphone. These mostly works properly with more simple files which enables you to handle personal files.

Cons

As said before, import from excel or other software (must mostly excel) can cause some problems. This is generally happens when you try to import bigger files with lots of graphics, data or macro inside. Mobile version does not have full features and I would prefer more options when you click or hold. However this is a natural fact; the more complex you make; the less user friendly it becomes.

### "A MacOS native app that does a superb job generating spreadsheets and graphics"

January 20, 2022

5.0

I use numbers to manage large spreadsheets and generate statistical graphics. Numbers does a great job with large datasets, running smoothly without any sudden crashes as has been the case with other software.

Pros

Numbers is included with every Mac, iPhone, and iPad. The ecosystem integration is superb. You can view your spreadsheet on any device and it updates in real time. The layout of the software is also very intuitive and the graphics are amazing. I didn't think that I would switch from microsoft excel as easily as I did.

Cons

It can be hard for someone that used Excel frequently to use numbers right away. That being said, it will only take a couple of times with the software to get used to where the options are located. I think this is a small complaint. The software is fantastic.

### "A solid online spreadsheet software"

May 10, 2022

Pros

I use this program daily through my iPhone and apple account to process my personal and home budgets. I appreciate that I can share these documents with ease and that updates can be made in a timely manner without much interruption to the flow of work.

Cons

Sometimes I miss the features of Excel when using a desktop and the Numbers software can seem clunky in comparison but the mobile version is far superior to excel in terms of usability.

### "Very similar to Microsoft Excel - But better"

May 26, 2018

5.0

The ability to create graphs, charts, formulas and work with Excel files in a more user-friendly software.

Pros

I may be biased toward Mac. I have been an Apple fanatic for a decade now. In all fairness, I use both Microsoft and Apple products and software on a daily basis. Numbers is amazing because it can open Excel files and export as an Excel file, but it has the user-friendliness of an Apple software.

Cons

Numbers has a few less features as Microsft Excel. If you are a spreadsheet guru and looking to use the most advanced features available, then Numbers is not the best software for you. Excel would be best to use. But if you're like me and you like to ease-of-use that comes with Apple products and software, you will likely find Numbers to be the best fit.

### "Numbers is just like any mac app"

December 9, 2019

5.0

I work numbers to organice my cash flow. I can check or edit it on the go with my iPhone and is pretty simple to upload it to the cloud.

Pros

What I like most about Numbers is that it's really smooth and fast. You can create different tables on a sheet and they work separate to the other. So you can edit them as you like without compromising the size of cells or rows to other table. The iOS, iPadOS and iCloud apps are perfect and have all the features that the desktop app has.

Cons

It doesn't work with macros and dynamic dashboards, that's a deal breaker sometimes. It doesn't have a great community that supports the product, so it's difficult to find help to any problem.
