Pros If you formally used Microsoft excel and finally changed to a Mac you will be blown away how great numbers is. Although similar style combining with the Mac experience you will see the difference. I love it. Cons Love Apple and all of it software. " March 19, 2022 5.0 Pros The capacity to "collaborate" with others. The allows me to make live changes and for my boss to do the same, instead of going back and forth. It's super efficient. Also, the ability to sum cells. It helps greatly when I have 300 lines of budget to be able to sum cells all the way down very quickly. I am also able to go across, so I can look at month by month spending in a flash at the bottom, as well as sum total to the right. Super helpful. Cons Transition from Excel - figuring where things are wasn't always super intuitive for me, but now that I'm familiar with numbers, I wouldn't want to go back. Cons When importing an excel spreadsheet or exporting to excel, the formulas are lost and only the calculated figure is kept in any given box. I use this or my company invoices and adding up charges. Cons A few cons with the program is that it is less intuitive than Excel. For instance it is hard to find where you change the format of the cell from regular numbers to currency format. Also most businesses I encounter don't have Numbers software so I have to make an extra step to export the document into a pdf or other format that is more universally readable when I send the document to other companies like for billing invoicing purposes. Cons Cannot set page view to see what will printout as I am working. Need to constantly go to "print" to preview how the page is setup and then cancel print to adjust items not sitting proper on the printable page. All Apple lovers surely love this 🖤 Pros I'm an IOS user since 2015 and I'm still addicted to their products. The interface is so simple and attractive. It makes much easier to enter the lengthy functions, equations and more. And Numbers contains plenty of templates itself for various purposes and can use it and customize it as per our purpose. No need to carry a laptop for a spreadsheet since my interaction with this mobile app. Cons There are so many functions restricted on mobile version and when compared to the Excel, it misses some important features. While Excel is certainly more powerful, Numbers is simply easier to use, and it's page layout feature is unmatched by any other spreadsheet program. Pros The best thing about Numbers is how it handles page layout and design. Unlike most spreadsheet program, with an interface that is nothing more than an endless grid, Numbers is blank canvas that allows you to add different table, with each table being its own spreadsheet. This allows for a great deal of flexibility in how you want your spreadsheets to look. Furthermore, Numbers is generally easy to use, especially for a spreadsheet program. Despite the ease of use, Numbers does support some advanced features such as scripting via AppleScript, Smart Categories (which is similar to pivot tables), and a robust function library. Finally, Numbers is absolutely free to use and receives regular updates. Cons The biggest con is simply that Numbers is nowhere near as powerful as other spreadsheet programs, especially Excel. For example, Numbers lacks true pivot tables, macro support (though AppleScript does provide some scripting and automation), and iterative calculations. Pros Graphical UI way better than any other spreadsheet software. Plots and graphs are really nice and can be customized very easily with total control on the output. It perfectly integrates with Apple Keynote and Pages. And they all come for free. Cons Some of the options are pretty buried in menus, and creating equations can sometimes take a bit of trial and error. I've never run into anything that I needed it to do that it couldn't do so I can't imagine that it's less powerful than other options. We are using numbers to track expenditures by division. We are a fairly small company that keeps books on QuickBooks, but we use numbers to keep our 3 divisions "seperate" so managers all know where we stand month to month in our own divisions. Pros I like easy Numbers is to use. Excel was always WAY too smart for me or something. I struggled with it and was always getting lost in it and could never make it do what I wanted. Numbers however just looks and feels like a simpler program. I've never run into anything that I needed it to do that it couldn't do so I can't imagine that it's less powerful than other options. Cons I really haven't had any problems. My wife has tried to use it and has complained that it doesn't do things the way she would like it, but she was trained on Excel years ago while I have been an Apple guy for so long I think like the Apple programs most of the time.
