### "Far Better Than The Competitor"

December 3, 2019

5.0

I used this software when my church was doing a fundraising campaign and was able to generate beautiful graphs and charts to show our congregation the progress. From then on, I was hooked on this over it's PC competitor.

Pros

Two words. User intuitiveness. Numbers is far better than it's competitors in this regard. Doing even intermediate difficulty formulas is fairly easy to figure out. Now I'm not a power-user. I don't use it for heavy-duty formulas and complex spreadsheets that calculate everything. But for what I use it for, it's great!

Cons

I'm not sure what to say here. As I mentioned in my "Pros" section, I'm not a power-user, so I don't know about all the details of the more difficult stuff. I'm sure it has it's weaknesses (everything does), but as for me, it does what I want it to do and does it well.

### "review for Numbers"

June 16, 2021

4.0

I mainly use numbers for preparing graphs and diagrams for my presentation. The 3d graphs are really amazing in numbers. However if I have large data to work with I always select Excel because there are many core functions missing in Numbers. Also it has an ok integration only with Apple products, however as majority of your colleagues are using Microsoft you need to change its format, which might cause some major issues in your spreadsheet.

Pros

If I need graphs, plots, bars in my presentation then numbers is a program that I always use. It creates much better graphs and diagrams compared to excel. Also it very easy to use for people who do not use spreadsheets regularly.

Cons

There are a lot of functions that are absent in numbers. The functionality is very weak compared to excel. Also you might have problems when you are dealing with large amount of data. Last but not least majority of people use excel so you must convert your numbers file to excel and this might cause the changing of some graphs and plots.

### "Excel but nice"

July 29, 2019

5.0

I use Numbers by Apple for personal spreadsheets. I love to use this app because it syncs and opens really fast.

Pros

Numbers works fast, smooth and perfect on any iDevice. It is Microsoft Excel with a touch of Apple vision. I love to edit or add info into spreadsheets on my iPhone, it is a small screen, but the app adapts.

Cons

It doesn't works with macros. It can be annoying sometimes.

### "A capable Excel-alternative for the rest of us"

February 26, 2020

4.0

It's much easier to use than the alternatives, gets you started faster and all-in-all has saved me so much time over the years.

Pros

Numbers is a capable Excel alternative that's easier to use, faster and produces documents / spreadsheets that are clearer, better looking and more presentable than that of the industry standard software. It covers all the basic features you could need to do anything from quick "back of the envelope" calculations to financial planning and even planning out development, cost and revenue of product development. Getting started with Numbers is by far easier than getting into Excel and it lets you be productive right from the get-go. Also, it comes free with most new Mac's purchased.

Cons

While it is a capable alternative, true "spreadsheet-warriors" will still need to rely on the table-behemoth that is Excel. It simply doesn't have all the features of Excel and it doesn't support Microsoft's .xlsx format perfectly, which means that you can't efficiently communicate and share your tables with those people who do use Excel anyway.

### "Solid Alternative to Excel"

March 18, 2024

5.0

I can’t complain as Numbers is free on MacOS and iOS so it’s a solid alternative and it’s very easy to use as part of a workflow.

Pros

File system allows using Excel documents with few or minor tweaks (renaming the file might be necessary)

Cons

It’s a bit harder to master formulas but there are many work arounds if something doesn’t work properly.

Switched from

[Microsoft Excel](https://www.capterra.com/p/176574/Excel/)

Excel is too pricy and Numbers is already available for free on Mac on iOS along with Pages and Keynotes that are solid alternatives to Microsoft Word and Powerpoint.

### "another great option from apple"

September 3, 2023

5.0

Really, like all Apple products, I love it.

Pros

In my case I use it a lot with the iPad, which allows me a much higher integration and fast and good results.

Cons

sometimes file compatibility may fail, which is normal between apple and other brands

### "Typical Apple Experience, Unparalleled Integration"

March 12, 2022

5.0

Overall, Apple numbers is great in the fact that its free with your mac device where as office on pc is moving over to SAS or a hefty license fee.

Pros

Obviously this is an Apple product so it's just as you would expect. It integrates seamlessly across all devices and having access through the icloud browser platform is also super convenient.

Cons

Apple numbers is definitely no replacement for excel, it sometimes feels like a stripped down version of excel akin to google sheets.

### "A must have!"

June 8, 2022

5.0

We track inventory, sales expenditures, and even project lists with Numbers. There's so many uses for it.

Pros

Apple Numbers is everything you need in a spreadsheet program. The toolsets are laid out logically, and its easy getting up to speed in using it, even for a first time user.

Cons

There are some built in templates, but not as many as you might find useful. Yes, you can easily build your own from scratch, but a few more included templates would make Apple Numbers even better.

Alternatives considered

[Google Sheets](https://www.capterra.com/p/169718/Google-Sheets/)

Reason for choosing Numbers

Numbers is laid out much more cleanly than anything else in its category, and it includes many more options for customizing things exactly to your liking.

### "Numbers review"

March 8, 2019

5.0

Pros

I love this software. It offers a lot of the functionality of Microsofts Excel or Google Sheets for Apple products. One of the best things about it is being able to access it in the cloud no matter where I am.

Cons

If you are used to Excel, it does take a little getting used to before you will feel comfortable with it. A lot of it is similar to other Spreadsheet programs, but every once in a while you will need to hit the search engine to figure out something that you know how to do in a different spreadsheet program but isn't the same in Numbers.

### "The cleaner, more intuitive form of Excel"

June 26, 2018

5.0

Pros

We use Mac computers and Apple portable devices for everything and, in turn, use Numbers for all spreadsheet documents. In conjunction with iCloud, all docs are saved and sharable between devices. The interface is clean and intuitive (logical). Unlike Excel, there's very little learning curve. Lots of easy templates to jump in and start using right away.

Cons

The only "con" would be that the desktop version is a bit of a RAM hog. Maybe because Numbers tends to be rather visual and graphic, it tends to bog other graphic-heavy programs down slightly.

### "Surprisingly full featured"

April 24, 2019

5.0

This is a great piece of software for smaller or personal projects. I wouldn't commit to it for team based projects because it isn't an industry standard like Excel or Sheets from Google. It's aesthetically pleasing and works from any web enabled device through iCloud. This automatic backup feature is really nice and convenient when you're on the road.

Pros

The interface is easy to understand and very Apple-esque (of course). Syncing with iCloud means you can pick up where you left off on mobile, iPad or from any web enabled computer. This is a huge plus for me as I travel so much. The interface is VERY aesthetically pleasing compared to Sheets or other competing services. Additionally, this product is free with many Apple devices. Can't beat free.

Cons

At the end of the day, compatibility. Everyone uses the industry standard Excel and this aint it. For collaborative reasons, using Numbers can be a detriment. However for personal use this is a wonderful piece of software.

### "Great data / financial management tool."

April 20, 2023

5.0

I love it, it's maybe less cost efficient compared to that of Microsoft Excel but it's definitely more user friendly and graphically impressive.

Pros

When I moved into a deeper analysis of budgeting and spend analysis, the tool was really useful to visualise and action adjustments via the spreadsheet through numbers.

Cons

It's more or less exclusively an Apple product so you can't to some extent get the best of it without being on Apple device which is fine for me but for others may be frustrating.

### "Good design but less functional than Excel"

February 8, 2021

5.0

I use Numbers to compile lists of contacts. It's usually enough and pretty.

Pros

The user experience for Numbers is much better than Excel. Designs are more human pleasing. Comes with Apple and I don't need to pay to install it.

Cons

Though it is designed with many formulas in just like Excel, it's not as functional. Sometimes with more complicated graphs, I'd still use Excel.

### "Great spreadsheet app, well integrated"

December 19, 2018

4.0

It is great for quick calculations in time and effort to get visual representation of resouces used when and on what those efforts has been used (kind of Gantt charts) as well as to quick glance of some aditions on the fly on the phones.

Pros

As a OS based kind of app (designed to be integrated with the OS features) this application works seamlessly within MacOS and iOS, great cloud integration and easy to use, great combination of templates if you dont want to start from scratch, and does a great job converting MS Excel files and/or exporting to MS Excel. The app does what its supposed to do, and does it gracefully. It has a great explanation of Function uses and is great for collaborative work.

Cons

Coming from MS Excel it lacks some of the functionality in complex operations, and if the functionality is there is not that clear how to get to it, I haven't managed to combine formula results in between pages to add to a more complex formula.

### "Excellent alternative to Microsoft Excel for MacBook users"

June 24, 2019

4.0

I believe that people used to second guess MacBook users given softwares like Microsoft Excel that are not very MacBook-friendly. However, apple has created an excellent alternative with Numbers, that automatically recognizes your excel of cvs files, opens them smoothly and lets you work them in a very user-friendly way.

Pros

Excellent alternative to Microsoft Excel for MacBook users: it allows you to work with large datasets, perform simple operations and end up with useful and presentable output. I use it every time I need to open files in excel or in CSV format.

Cons

I wished it would make it more simple to create functions to save time for users who have to perform the same operation in cells repeatedly within a file.

### "Free web-based spreadsheet. Great for use on an iPhone or iPad."

March 14, 2018

4.0

It works on any device that can connect to the internet. It is free with an iCloud account. Collaboration works flawlessly, in my experience. I just love being able to create and work on spreadsheets from my phone while traveling.

Pros

This product is free with any iPhone, iPad, or Mac. I love being able to create simple spreadsheets on my phone. You can collaborate with other users of the software live. It is effortless to create PDF and or Excel copies of the spreadsheets to share with users that do not use numbers or have minimal experience with spreadsheets. Apple devices are not required to use the software, anyone that has an iCloud account can use the software on from the website.

Cons

As an expert user of spreadsheets, I most likely design far more complex spreadsheets than the average user. That being said I found some complicated formulas are difficult to create on the iPhone. I discovered that many of my older colleagues were very hesitant, even to try to learn a new spreadsheet software. It would be nice to have some video quick reference guides made to Apple standards to help with earning the conversion of some of these possible new users.

### "Love Your Spreadsheets"

December 18, 2018

5.0

Much to the chagrin of my Excel-using colleagues, I've been using Numbers for years. I just enjoy working with it more than Excel.

Pros

Sometimes it's hard to love the kind of work that involves spreadsheets. But numbers makes it possible. With the classic Apple polish on the interface and snappy responsiveness, it makes spreadsheets pleasant to work on. Exporting to Excel, CSV, and PDF means that it's truly cross-platform. You don't have to work with a bloated interface just because your colleagues do.

Cons

I wish the formula function was a little bit easier to use.

### "Spreadsheet for Apple Users"

July 30, 2019

5.0

Numbers is a great tool for day to day calculation requirements.

Pros

Numbers is a simple calculator for all apple devices. It is very user-friendly and anyone can easily learn how the software works. It has a variety of functions. Tables, graphics, diagrams, photos can be added to the sheets. Compatible with Mac, iPad and iPhones. So sheets can be created using a mac and can be edited by using an iPhone on your way home.

Cons

The mobile app interface is a little difficult to work with. Sometimes loading of files from the cloud can be a little slow.

### "Freelance Work"

January 20, 2019

5.0

Overall I've had a very positive experience with using Numbers, and it is my spreadsheet software of choice that I use on a regular basis.

Pros

I like how Numbers is easy to navigate and, for someone who is not fluent in the mathematical formulas, is easy to use to create spreadsheets that can calculate different accounts. I use it to keep track of my budget for the month, my expenses and incomes, and other freelancing tasks.

Cons

There isn't much negative to say about Numbers. Sometimes, the program runs a little slowly but that could be because of my old computer.

### "Numbers is the best spreadsheet program on the market"

September 17, 2021

5.0

Overall, I am very pleased with what Numbers has provided for me. It is very simple in nature, but effective at what it aims to achieve. I would recommend to anybody in need of a spreadsheet tool.

Pros

Excel has long ruled the spreadsheet market and for a while, I believed that was also the case. That was until I started using Apple Numbers with my Macbook Pro. Numbers has been a seamless transition and allows me to list everything I need with an aesthetic look. Ease of use and focus on design is what makes this program so effective.

Cons

While I don't have issue with this, others may find that Numbers doesn't provide the overabundance of customization options that come along with Excel. Lack of functions may be a difference-maker for some.

### "Great Spreadsheet application"

December 10, 2021

4.0

I guess if you need to make professional formulas or spreadsheets I would advice Excel instead of Numbers. But if you do not have office installed on your Mac, Numbers is suitable for your requirements as well.

Pros

\* Very simple application. Easy to learn \* You can create different spreadsheets at different pages. It is a good feature.

Cons

\* I am not able to export to OpenDocument Format \* To be honest, if you compare it with Excel it needs to improve itself.
