Pros It is easy to use, works well with SongSelect (CCLI) to download Song Lyrics and supports video backgrounds. It can integrate PowerPoint Slides and even has Bibles available. Cons Update screen can have the tendancy to lag, sometimes PowerPoint imports freeze when using native PowerPoint settings (for animations and graphics). The ProPresenter Remote Works 90% of the time, when it doesn't work it can be really frustrating. Pros The ease of use is incredible. I love that you can order the service in from our pre-service slideshow, pre-prayers, worship lyrics and videos (which we pass to or video switcher for overlays with the SDI Module). I also love the songselect integration! Cons I do wish that the library search worked better. When I search for a title, I still have a lot of songs that come up of a different title (I think because that song title is in the lyrics of the song) Reason for choosing ProPresenter Because it was the industry standard Review Source JI Johnathan I. Pros All in one, nothing else needed for displaying for services. Cons Text input/edit bogs down the software over time when building a program for a sermon. Needs some kind of drag and drop options for custom built midi controls and stage display. Going 4 or more into an menu to add the same midi display to forward a lighting cues 10 or more times in a service is cumbersome. It's a little pricy considering all the free programs or relatively cheap alternatives out there, but this one has all the features and it works. It's simple for a church of any size to get on and just use, it's the only presentation software I recommend. Pros I like how easy this software is for the end user. I can pull someone who has never seen it before and they're able to click through slides and videos without any issues. The initial setup is also very straight forward. Cons I feel like there are some features that are nice, but do not translate well to the final end product. For example, trying to show something from a website (i.e. a video from our website) we could not just click the web browser section and go full screen within ProPresenter. I've been a user since PP3 (maybe one before that, it was around 2008) and there have been certain features like this that have not worked as we thought they would. Reason for choosing ProPresenter Ease of use and it's the standard. We have a lot of tours and conferences through our church, and everyone just shows up with their PP file and it's a simple setup. Very powerful software that is still easy for the end user. The editor putting together a presentation is where the creativity comes in keeping the operator functions simple. Pros Ideal software for church projection of just about anything you could imagine. Version 7 added lots of functionality for live streaming. Having a networked output feeding a second computer with transparent lyrics on the bottom third of a live shot is great. Being able to send both that and the full live output via NDI is a huge plus. Cons Changes in version 7 are good but were a little confusing at first. The library becomes universal which seems good but was hard to find. Sometimes software versions move items around with no real purpose. That seems to happen with upgrades sometimes but they are not unique in this. April 23, 2018 5.0 With minimal instruction, most people will be able to operate the software. Programming for operation will take more time and care, but is doable for anyone with computer competency. Pros The software is easy to install and to use. The actual operation of the software is very simply and can be taught quickly and easily. The programming and setup takes a little more competency; however, most users will find that it is not a difficult challenge. Cons Some of the default settings are counter-intuitive. For example, the default setting is for the confidence monitor to be disabled. Also, some of the features are confusing, such as "hot folders". Have used the last 2 iterations with very minimal issues. Updates are usually well done. Pros A single program that does absolutely everything you would need in presentation software. Massive database of resources, tons of 3rd party support, training videos and plugins are just a few of the nice extras on top of being a top-notch presentation program. Cons It is expensive. I’ve tried to be sure that everything is labeled correctly and we’ve used “overwrite” option and I still have graphics that don’t come through properly. There is a very supportive community available to help. It is a stable program with very few issues and they are constantly rolling out new features. It is expensive. Pros Pro7 is easy to set up, deploy, and manage, but it super powerful! It is built for churches and fits perfectly in our context. We love being able to use it in adult, student, and kids environments--and have it be simple enough for kids to operate but powerful enough to control content on eight different screens, lighting control, and syncing with MIDI simultaneously! We want the technical aspects to be transparent to the worshipers. Pros It's pretty much the industry standard. It has a good interface in concept, and is easy to teach to volunteers. Cons It's Mac software that's been converted to PC, and there are lots of problems getting it to work properly in a networked environment. It's also buggy. I REALLY wish you could put stage display out through an external BlackMagic HDSDI card instead of through the graphics display card. Graphics display cards have DRM built into them and it makes it difficult to convert the signal for routing to the front monitors. Review Source JR Justin R. It's easy to explain to new volunteers who only need to know the limited basics, but powerful enough to doing well in most environments. Pros ProPresenter 7 makes it easy to setup multiple outputs to send content various directions. One of the biggest improvements, especially for use in corporate events, is the all-new stage display editor that allows for extensive customization and output variety. The non-linear playback structure makes it easy to move around between presentations and to change things on the fly. Cons There are a few UI/UX choices that I would prefer function or look different. A few changes feel arbitrary and the given solutions aren't always easier to use. Review Source BM Barb M. Pros The functionality is incredible for running slides, videos, audio, pictures in our church services each week. The support is great. Cons Because of the vast functionality, there is a steep learning curve. We have been using for over seven years and I'm still learning new and better ways to use it. We use the "Sync" function and we sometimes have issues with it actually syncing on some devices and it syncs items that were previously deleted. Reason for choosing ProPresenter Functionality. It's functionality and flexibility is unparalleled. Pros ProPresenter is remarkably flexible and adaptable to a variety of applications. The ability to display the same content in multiple formats to multiple outputs at one time is a game-changer. We're able to output content to multiple projectors, another feed with a different format to our video switcher, and yet another differently formatted output to a tv as a stage monitor. All seamlessly. Cons The biggest issue I've encountered is the occasional lag. I've found that, even with a well-specced iMac, ProPresenter seems to "chug" through basic things like scrolling through a play list or even selecting slides. Our experience has been fantastic. Pros Pro Presenter is the gold standard of worship presentation software. It has a number of features which set it apart from other worship presentation software products, and is very easy to use. Videos are easily integrated. Changing worship slide backgrounds is simple. Its integration with other products like Keynote, Planning Center, Song Select, and the like are great time reducing features which are fantastic. We are looking forward to adding live video to the mix in the near future, which is another great feature! Cons None really. Maybe just a bit more communication when updates are applied as to how they will affect third party software that we use with Pro Presenter? For example, we use Keynote for our sermon slides, and occasionally the updates will disrupt the overall integration between the two. The time this saves me when I have to put together a service, or change something on the fly has made this an excellent investment. Pros Propresenter was much easier to learn and use than similar software I had used before. The church I am at used another software, I purchased Propresenter as soon as I got here and have not looked back! It also has an array of features that make it a great choice to use! Cons The only con I have had was just migrating all of the song library from my church's other software. That can just be time consuming at first. Pros It can be used in conjunction with live streaming. Cons This software is not in least bit user friendly for volunteers, which is typically what many churches are utilizing. It is geared towards paid and experience media engineers. Pro6 was much more logically laid out for volunteers. Finding where to go for common, simple tasks is made VERY difficult. Also difficult to sync our previous files. Still can't get them all moved over from Pro6. It seems like the more we continue to learn about the software, the more powerful it becomes for our purposes. Cons The learning curve, it takes a bit for new volunteers to figure it out as everything is not necessarily intuitive. For instance getting to the display settings when you add multiple displays. We have had to google solutions for issues like that. Pros Ease of use for volunteers is the most appealing aspect of this tool. As I set up the slides at home, anybody can advance the slides. It even works with a remote clicker which was very handy during pandemic livestream with no one at church. Cons Initial screens setup was not user intuitive and its setup got deleted several times so I need to check every Sunday before worship. Got better but text editing needs to improve. Every time you enter the text editing mode, the text field would shift slightly to cause the "jump" around the screen. Pros Having the ability to go to any part of a song in the moment (while projecting words on a screen during songs) is very useful. The worship leader jumps around sometimes and having the ability to follow them is great! It's also very user friendly. I have taught a lot of youth and adults how to use the program and they are able to effectively use the program after just one or two lessons. The program also makes it easy to change backgrounds on the fly. Another pro to this program is being able to import Bible verses very quickly and easily. Cons Something that could be improved is the ease of editing templates. This is something that tends to take longer than it needs to.
