October 29, 2021 5.0 Overall, it has been a pleasure to use, with very few hiccups, most of which are probably on the hardware end and not the software end. Pros I think the thing I like most about ProPresenter is that it just WORKS. It’s well organized with a clean and easy to learn layout/format. ProPresenter is robust enough for even the most demanding user to accomplish what they want, while easy enough to teach volunteers how to use it very quickly. Pastor Religious Institutions Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Pros and cons of Propresenter" June 26, 2019 4.0 Except for integration with our main song and roster system and cloud issues, the product is the best presenter system that we have used. Pros For our purposes Integration is everything. Propresenter integrates well with Powerpoint, songselect, and media, to provide a powerful presentation tool. Lyric presentation is easily formatted and styled through customisable templates and editing tools. Developing playlists and display cues helps volunteers to intuitively negotiate the system. Cons While intuitive for operation, there is a large learning curve for editing and setup. Tutorials can be found but sometimes do not cover some of the complex tasks. It does not integrate with Elvanto and that is major for us. Propresenter cloud has provided major problems in maintaining a stable database of songs as multiusers often overwrite and corrupt the data. It is not like google docs! People are downloading and uploading songs and playlists and it rarely works for us. My advice is stay away from the cloud until they Develop a google docs type system. A/V Lead Religious Institutions Used the software for: 2+ years ### "ProPresenter - Perfect for our small church" February 26, 2021 5.0 Our small church was given an iMac computer and I'd seen ProPresenter in use at a different church and it looked like a great fit for us. We loved the ability to have the "live" display up on the big screen at the front of the church for displaying song words or bible verses; but then having the iMac screen be the entire control panel where we get everything ready for the next thing needed on the big screen... it was all right at our fingertips and we could do it quickly. Pros The full set of features that you can use when you need to or keep it really simple when you need to do so. Cons Typically, can be a real pain to upgrade to a new version. We used a rented facility so only had access to the computer twice a week, and didn't have much time to do the update, which typically took awhile.... The only other thing is that switching text to a new font or look is daunting as I recall. Reason for choosing ProPresenter Even though it cost more, it allowed the user to seamlessly move from songs to bible to photos or videos to whatever we needed simply and quickly (quickly is the key point because the pastor doesn't like to wait for the A/V guy!) " January 1, 2019 4.0 I've been using ProPresenter for years and feel like I've watched it grow. I worked at a brand new church where we ran slides and lyrics on two TVs and now I'm on staff at a church that runs multiple screens with IMAG and ProPresenter is behind all of it! Pros ProPresenter always makes displaying media, whether to one screen or multiple screens super simple. I love being able to import Powerpoint files directly into ProPresenter. It's such a HUGE time saver, saving you the headache of having to type everything out again. Cons Just like any software, occasional glitches happen and always seem to happen at the worst time. In our main auditoriums ProPresenter drives all the main screens and a confidence monitor. Pros The thing I like most is the ease of use. It is so easy to show a volunteer how to use the software in a moments notice. Second, the feature set is awesome. Using the modules give a lot of flexibility and control. Our team uses the midi module all the time for cueing external equipment and cueing propresenter. I can not say enough about this software. Cons Overall there are not many con's to this software. If I have a con it would be one regarding the midi module. It's pretty basic as far as the midi messages that can be sent and received. I would like a little more ability here. We had some issues with playback performance (we're edge blending some projectors), but besides that it's been great. Pros A lot of options and configuration. Support for a lot of video codecs. Pros I love the flexibility and ease of use of ProPresenter. It makes things like projection mapping a breeze! Cons The cost is a bit high for smaller organizations, but it’s well worth the investment. AV Ministry Director Non-Profit Organization Management Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Great on the Mac/My Windows experience wasn't as good" July 4, 2019 4.0 Church lyrics and scriptures, primarily, with occasional video, and occasionally a video feed from the camera. Noteworthy - We have the ability using a WireCast utility to feed the ProPresenter display to our streaming computer, which isn't a function of ProPresenter, but a nice way to integrate what is seen on ProPresenter with our live stream. Pros Functionality overall is very high, with many advanced features. Stage monitor options are very strong, being able to customize it differently than the main screens. Ability to take the video camera feed is very good, as well. Integration with CCLI lyrics also is a strength, as well as ability to customize backgrounds. Cons We started on the Windows version, and at that time (2+ yrs ago), we found that the Windows version was buggy, and didn't always follow accepted windows programming standards for handling errors and reporting. We switched over to an iMac running the Mac OS version, and have found it to be much more stable, and we rarely have issues. The features beyond the software on the computer was great (ie - the mobile features - Stage Display on iOS). The integration into CCLI makes adding new songs to playlists simple. Cons No concerns with the software. Anytime we have had a "glitch" or need to know how to complete a task, Support from ProPresenter was been fantastic (and quick replies). Switched from [MediaShout](https://www.capterra.com/p/140318/MediaShout/) We made the switch to ProPresenter due to the all of the conversions (and extra work) that we needed to complete to bring many of our files over. For example: many of the video files were MOV, M4V, MP4 file formats and we were needing to convert many of our videos to a different format to get it to play through the other system. It allows for an easy transition of playlists and files without having to quit the application. The benefits are that it is a reliable software that automatically saves our files, we don't have to worry about missing files or the program crashing on us. Pros I love the easiness of the software. It is very intuitive and does not need long hours of training to take advantage of everything that Propresenter can do. I love that I can just drag my pictures and create my own playlist very quick. Cons The only disadvantage I found is when we have videos with optional captions and pro presenter does not have the capacity to open those optional captions so that they would project on the screen. Pros We love how user friendly and intuitive this software is. Pro Presenter 6 runs our services across our facility and it works flawlessly. We are also grateful that this company keeps innovating for this software. Cons There's not much that doesn't feel intuitive. Sometimes one of our computer lags when it runs the program in one of our rooms but that is more due to the RAM the software pulls from the computer for use. From a technical standpoint the software runs super smooth. I often tell our tech guys that they are like umpires or referees...no one tends to notice you unless something messes up. ProPresenter makes errors a lot less common through not only the smoothness of the software but also in allowing some of the tasks to be automatically performed through MIDI control. Pros Easy to use and understand for volunteers to operate during our Worship Experiences. Cons Couple of minor things that aren't intuitive when setting up to run a show. I can display and do exactly what I need to do and able to be as creative as I can be Pros So, I love the software and I think that it does what it is supposed to do well. It is professional presentation software, so there is a slight learning curve. But...they do well to give you training's as well as man training's online. Here is the BEST thing about the software...I use it ALL wirelessly. I use a stage display (connected to an old iPhone) and I control the presentation from an iPad. Everything connects simply and seamlessly. Cons The only cons, if I had any, would really just be some of the learning curves. It is powerful, but also simple enough that it can be used by almost anyone after a short training session. The ease of adding songs and integrating media makes a ministry which involves frequent new music and highly creative visuals possible. Pros There are many useful features in the software, but the ones that we benefit the most from are: - importing directly from SongSelect online - control screen interface allows for intelligent movement between parts of song and presentations - ease of integrating media - screen templates are easy to use. Once created, they make adding new slides very easy (along with SongSelect import) - ease of adding messages and timers - ability to sync libraries between computers Cons The software is not intuitively understandable for new uses, in many cases. This means that training needs to be provided for people before they can begin to run ProPresenter. I can have someone with little to no experience in video production sit down and begin working in five minutes. Pros I like that you can playback video without any having to use specific codec settings. Cons I really dislike not having a preview and program function that can operate independently​. It is impossible to make significant​ changes to slides or playlists while currently playing back live in production. A second big issue is how slow the cloud back up and sync for this product works. It gets better and better. Our teams LOVE to use it. I find it pretty easy to train volunteers, and love the ability to use the ProRemote to control it anywhere where our wireless LAN reaches. Pros The flexibility and intuitive nature of how functions work Cons There are occasional glitches in the EDIT SLIDE portion of the program. For example, placing a text box and then copying and pasting that slide only to find intermittent shift of the respective text boxes in the copied slides. Never anything I can't overcome, but definitely glitchy on occasion. I also wish that there was a "Copy Attributes" function for any given slide. For instance, if I have manipulated the color of a background, and added a stage display preset, I'd love to be able to paste those attributes to another slide (rather than merely copy and paste the slide). This is most important when I've chosen to manipulate a background and would like to copy that manipulated background to different slide groupings in a song without having to manually recreate the edits for each instance. Pros \-It does not often change, so we do not have to train our volunteers on it regularly -It links with Planning Center Online -Files can be changed while they are being projected Cons \-Our program does not always save what we upload ahead of time, so, some weeks, I have to re-do what I had already done on Thursday. -I liked that ProPresenter 5 allowed us to have multiple applications running at the same time with one license, rather than have to buy multiple licenses. Licenses are expensive for a church, and it is hard to justify purchasing another one when we can make something like Keynote or ProPresenter work, but ProPresenter would definitely be the preference. -Our ProPresenter is incredibly slow and takes about 6 minutes some weeks to boot up, and it is not uncommon for it to freeze; however, we have discovered that since we converted PCO plans to "Non-PCO" plans once they were uploaded, this issues seems to have mostly resolved.
