### "Platform concerns"

June 29, 2019

4.0

Pros

Now that I'm running it on an iMac, it is working very well. However, because I'm running it on an iMac, I did have to spend much more in additional components to allow it to properly function. I do like that the application is now very stable and seems to be able to operate well.

Cons

Although the web site offered support for Windows, it does not run as a 64-bit application. It is a 32 bit application, not fully capable of accessing more available memory and processing capabilities that a 64-bit platform can offer. This should be noted on the website. In addition, whether it was running on Windows or iMac (which I now use), the ability to natively run Microsoft PowerPoint presentations is non-existent. I always had to install MS PowerPoint or Keynote and have ProPresenter launch the third party application. Other presentation software allowed us to play PowerPoint presentations natively from within the screen control software. The video database categories functions could use some refinement. For example, I'd like the ability to see all available background or foreground videos and then filter out categories I don't want to see rather than the category filters only showing me that category.

Reason for choosing ProPresenter

Recommendations by the leadership approving purchases.

Switched from

I was highly recommended to do so by others. "It's the best, all of the others in our industry are using it". I actually didn't want to on Windows. The previous software was adept with similar functionality, and was much more stable on Windows than ProPresenter is.

### "Good, but not as good as it could be."

June 27, 2019

3.0

We use ProPresenter 6 weekly to sequence our worship lyrics and other service visuals except for the weekly teaching portions. Our teachers prefer Proclaim due to its integration with Logos bible software. We also use Proclaim to record our teachings - audio with synced visuals - for uploading to our website. For general worship visuals I prefer ProPresenter 6 by far. While our two graphic-op volunteers are fairly new to worship graphics software, I have been creating presentations using computer graphics software professionally since 1983.

Pros

ProPresenter 6 is good at sequencing images, allowing videos to be used as backgrounds, and the database of user created material works well. The weekly task of creating the worship flow for our services is easy and works relatively well. I like that you can click on graphics and text images to make visuals on the fly. We have used ProPresenter with PowerPoint, Keynote and Proclaim software concurrently and switch between them with almost no difficulties.

Cons

In our particular setup - iMac with a Kramer VGA video splitter, in 4:3 - 1024x768 res. - ProPresenter 6 does not correctly initialize the screen buffers causing us to quit and restart the program almost every time we use it. We don't have this problem with PowerPoint, Keynote or Proclaim. Also, for the price, the image (slide) editing functions are clunky - usable, but not good. Apple's Keynote software (free with every Mac) is a great model for easily creating high quality visuals.

### "First impressions matter a lot."

December 7, 2022

5.0

It is crucial for Marketing Agency to draw customers' attention to the desired product right away. I can rapidly and aesthetically convey the essential details of our offer with ProPresenter. Presenting online is commonplace today, therefore I need software that will let me decide what my customer sees, how quickly he sees it, and if he notices the most crucial aspects. ProPresenter offers a lot of customization options for music, films, and images. In addition to being simple to use, real-time actions, slide displays, and unique effects. My money was well spent.

Pros

This application excels at handling numerous screens, which is something we require. When creating presentations, I enjoyed the variety of tools and how simple they were to use. This program is something we should rely on after it has been set up properly, which is why I enjoy it.An excellent product in terms of priceI appreciate that it has so many wonderful features for different kinds of presentations.

Cons

ProPresenter's lack of intuitiveness is what I liked least about it. Without checking the manual or viewing tutorials, I found it challenging to figure out how to do several things. When such applications are not translated into my language, it is a little aggravating. It could be a good enhancement to have it translated into additional languages, though.Even if it's inexpensive, some folks might not be able to afford it.

Reason for choosing ProPresenter

The software is excellent.

### "Best presentation software I’ve ever used"

July 13, 2019

5.0

I started using pro presenter about 6 years ago, and it was a game changer. At the time I was using a couple different pieces of software to do what pro presenter does all as one program. From Editing slides, playing audio files, organizing media library to the ability to set up seemless transitions in our performances, pro presenter is an irreplaceable part of our work flow. The only thing I would add to it is the ability to make basic edits to audio files. There is no way to make custome cue point in songs or to adjust the volume of songs that may need to be normalized. It will let you do it with videos but not mp3s. Granted this is not a dealbreaker. I can still do all of this in a secondary software then port it into pro presenter, But it would save a few steps if it had this feature. However, out of everything I’ve tried, pro presenter does nearly everything we need from a presentation software. I believe it is an essential tool for any organization that requires use of media presentation.

Pros

It Does the work of multiple softwares. It Organizes our media library, presents audio/visual media, does minor video editing, and allows for a secondary video output for people on the stage for personal notes , timers etc. Allows for smooth transitions during any presentation!

Cons

Needs audio properties editor for mp3s. In order to make basic edits. For example if you want a certain section of a song to play on a slide, or if you have an audio file that is too quiet / loud. It will allow you to do this on videos though which is very nice

Reason for choosing ProPresenter

It was the standard for most houses of worship and we heard a lot of good reviews. And tutorials were easily attainable. We also tried the trial version and realized it pretty much had the ability to do every thing we were lacking.

### "Fantastic software for churches using multiple forms of visual media"

July 11, 2019

5.0

ProPresenter has really upped the level of professionalism and appearance of our Sunday morning services. Fumbling and "dead air" at the sound booth in terms of presentation transitions, etc. have been all but eliminated. It is very user friendly and easy to use as well.

Pros

The ability to let it run in the background while doing other things on the same computer. It maintains your professional appearance while you're scrambling to pull the next thing together in the sound booth.

Cons

We use a remote "clicker" for the speaker. When the speaker is presenting, they can click through their own slides. When the user at the computer minimizes ProPresenter or clicks into another program (for example, pulling up house music or something to have ready at the end of the sermon), the clicker doesn't work anymore. ProPresenter takes over all aspects of the presentation/monitors, it should be able to take over and maintain bluetooth clicking also, while other programs are active... that would be fantastic.

Reason for choosing ProPresenter

There is no alternative product as far as I'm concerned.

### "Best out there"

July 14, 2019

5.0

ProPresenter, overall is absolutely the best presentation software on the market. And believe me, I’ve tried most/many of them.

Pros

I’ve been using ProPresenter since I think version 3...so over the years I’ve become very familiar with the core features and new features they add and improve over the course of each version. ProPresenter is very stable. It does many things very well, and very logically, all while being incredibly straightforward and simple to use. If you’ve ever turned on a computer you can basically navigate the core functionality. Which means training people to use is is dead simple. It’s darn near a case study in great UI/UX.

Cons

The templating needs a makeover. Creating a template is far less useful than it could be. It “works” it just hasn’t been extended far enough in my opinion. I would love an option to actually template slides with different fonts, weights, etc, and then simply apply that template and it’s styles to a new slide. It would save me hours every week. I also think they should add a “Styles” panel that allows you to apply styles independently of templates. The other areas I’m hoping to see some improvement in are playlist locking, an audio bin makeover, and when resizing previews of imported PowerPoint slides, the JPEG resizes too instead of just the natively created PP content. That last one is actually pretty crucial.

### "The Industry Standard"

November 13, 2023

4.0

It's the industry standard for a reason. There's nothing else like it.

Pros

Easy to use once you get the hang of it. Quite versatile. Very powerful. So easy to import and edit songs and scriptures. Integrates fairly easily with other hardware and software.

Cons

Sometimes, the updates can cause glitches in the program, resulting in the occasional crash or spot of chaos.

### "Love ProPresenter... Still the best"

July 10, 2019

3.0

I've used ProPres and PVP since 2006. I've chatted with executive at conferences and he's a great dude!

Pros

I LOVE how easy it is to make slides and display them. Organizing songs is with the arrangement has been key as well since that feature was released. We also love the alpha-key support. We really use ProPres for it's slides... The other features are nice, and we occasionally use them, but the main function of ProPres is displaying lyrics and slide-based (powerpoint-esc) games and sermons. My favorite "feature" is how easy it is to train a volunteer on. In Student ministry I can sit a middleschooler in front of ProPres and in less than a minute they can run a worship set... There is much more to learn. The basics are SUPER easy.

Cons

There are a ton of "bugs" that seem to never get fixed. When I say bugs, what I really mean is un-intuitive workflows and feedback. For instance, - when I have two text elements on a slide, and I reorder the layer order, sometimes they both disappear - from the layer list until you click on it again. - The Twitter feature (when it used to work) would crash the app about 50% of the time. - The "web" element and "Web Browser" are frustratingly slow and unusable. - Sometimes we get a delay on the second output of the BlackMagic ultra studio, so we get a black ghosting. - I've lost trust in undo/redo. I have no idea what it will do or not based on bad experiences. I can't think of others, but there are little "bugs" we find all of the time where you'd expect a button to do something (and it may have) but the feedback to the user is missing so you're left guessing.

Reason for choosing ProPresenter

It had the feature set we needed and the alternatives are much harder to train volunteers on.

### "Excellent program that is worth every penny and every moment of your time!"

November 8, 2019

5.0

Overall, ProPresenter has helped to advance my organization to the next level of being technologically efficient and professional. We depend on it for everything that happens in-house regarding services, and it has done an amazing job of assisting us and our representation to the public.

Pros

Where do I begin?? This is an absolutely fantastic software. As someone who helps facilitate not only the Communications department at my organization (religious institution) but also the media and our weekly services (inputting videos, presentations, music, miscellaneous), ProPresenter has proven to be a life-saver and keeps everything in one place (you don't have to click through a bunch of prompts to get to what you need). What I like MOST about this software is the ability to see all the services on on screen; for example, in the lower left corner of the software, all our services are listed: Sunday morning, Tuesday prayer, Wednesday ministry night, Thursday rehearsal, and any Friday or Saturday special services. You can easily click on the service and all your files will show up next to the service -- media, music... whatever. And ProPresenter automatically saves all that data and stores your files, backgrounds, etc so you aren't having to start from scratch every time! I could go on and on about how big a fan I am of this program!

Cons

I don't have anything particularly negative to say about ProPresenter, but if there was one thing I would request better effort on, it would be the ease of creating slides \*through\* the actual program... it takes quite a while to create the slide, edit the text, font, colors, positioning, etc, and then present it. I've learned to just have everything ready through Keynote (using a Mac) or even Powerpoint in certain situations.

### "ProPresenter Review"

July 5, 2019

4.0

ProPresenter overall is a great piece of software. I think it tries to provide an all in one solution to presentation software and does a decent job. I do think video could do with looking at and the way it handles changes to outputs.

Pros

The software is easy to use. It's fairly simply made from a first glance. The more you use it, the more features become apparent, like most softwares! The ability to add more and more can become a little overwhelming we have found it best utilised as a lyric and image presentation software and we tend not to use any of the modules as we find dedicated hardware/software is better positioned for this.

Cons

Video playback and the way it handles new or changing outputs of the computer. Every single time an output changes ProPresenter needs to be closed and re-opened to detect the change, often leading to a crash or spinning beach ball before you are eventually able to force quit the application. Video playback has let us down on numerous occasions. We find that using the recommended codec doesn't always produce the best results and video features are a little laking. It would benefit if videos were handled better. There seems to be some caching that takes place and unless the videos are short we have found ProPresenter to struggle with the content, while using another software on the same machine, with the same files the computers doesn't have a single issue.

### "Great program for Church media production"

September 4, 2019

5.0

Pros

There are other programs out there that can do the slides or video recording, some of them free. Where this one truly sets itself apart for churches is the integrated bible module, and songselect. Our church does not stream the video to screens in the church. We record and stream with a different computer. The propresenter computer is used primarily for putting lyrics and verses on the screens for the congregation, as well as playing music for specials. The pastor has been very pleased with the results from this program. We also have a large screen in the back of the auditorium that we use as a stage display, so the pastor and worship team can see what is going on without having to turn around. I also love how many video tutorials are out there from Renewed Vision and others on how to use different functions. We are not an overly large church, so there are certainly features and modules that we have not even began to use.

Cons

As far as I know, you cannot import keynote files (MACs version of powerpoint). To import slides other than those generated by propresenter requires a powerpoint license. One other feature that it is lacking at this point that I would love to see added are customizable hotkeys. For instance, say I would like to quickly select a different template for the verses in the bible, it would be great to have a hot key for that instead of trying to navigate through the menus on the fly. Another feature would be for the verses within the bible app to have a "fit text to slide" option, similar to a feature already available for user generated slides. The bible module does not offer quite the same customization as is available for other slides.

### "Great Software With Many Glitches for PC Version"

July 6, 2019

3.0

Our Church has been using ProPresenter since 2014 and overall it's been the best solution that meets most of our needs. However, it's not perfect and has given us quite a few headaches over the years. Hopefully in the future ProPresenter will be given it's own PC development department that will focus on Industry Standards that are common in the PC environment instead of trying to Port over from Mac.

Pros

ProPresenter is pretty great overall. It has so many abilities to allow our church to create custom presentations on the fly as will as prepare in advance. Love how easy it is to import songs, backgrounds, and bible references.

Cons

The PC version feels like a cheap port from the Mac version. It has many glitches when trying to export playlists. It also doesn't allow me to duplicate playlists easily. If I wanted to create a duplicate playlist to use as a template for another service, I have to export it then re-import it instead of just copy and paste like most standard PC software allows. When I do export a playlist, sometimes it never exports and if it does then items are missing or removed from the both the exported playlist and the original playlist.

### "ProPresenter is an Industry Standard for a Reason"

June 26, 2019

4.0

We use it in multiple venues for church services (including video venues). We also use it to feed the digital signage throughout our building.

Pros

I love the features that are present. The upgrades from Pro5 to Pro6 were amazing. The ability to connect with Planning Center, use arrangements and organize a service in a way that makes executing the service pretty straightforward is great! We also like taking advantage of the master/slave feature to have one machine launch content on different screens on our main stage (a backdrop screen and a TV for teaching).

Cons

There seems to be bugs that pop up, and they're pretty random. This is mostly when creating a service. Running a service is usually very smooth. For example, Planning Center connection acts like it's not signed in, but it had been then randomly stop. You have to hit "Logout" and then log back in for it to work. Also, there are some songs that act weird in Reflow Editing (fortunately there are a number of ways to do the same task). In Reflow, when you click somewhere to edit text, it keeps pushing the cursor to the end of the text. Again, this is only on certain songs and random. I also feel like there have been times recently when we'd make changes after our Thursday service in preparation for our Sunday service (which is slightly different), but when we turn things on Sunday morning, it has reverted back.

### "Best combination of value and features"

June 27, 2019

4.0

Propresenter was a definite upgrade over our previous system EasyWorship. The great majority of the time it is a pleasure to use. It has the occasional quirk where media links break and media has to be reimported (even for media that was not moved from it's original location). Another issue I face frequently is Propresenter forgetting previous stage display settings and having to go back into the preferences and re-enable stage display again.

Pros

Getting your media into Propresenter and starting presentations couldn't be easier. Works great as a way to present lyrics for songs and compile a database of song lyrics. There are also advanced features available for power users that help extend the functionality of the system.

Cons

I don't really like the process of creating cues to advance slides on presentations. There could be an easier way to incorporate videos into presentations that run on their own. Also the integration between Propresenter and the cloud service doesn't work great. I could never get it to sync correctly so I cancelled my subscription and went about what I wanted to do a different way. Also documentation on advanced features could be better. Most of the time when I want to do something involving one of the advanced modules or something involving synchronization between my lighting system it involves digging through the internet for a user who figured it out and was nice enough to share their process.

Reason for choosing ProPresenter

Had friends at other churches that were having success with it.

### "Pro tool for Prosumer Price"

June 27, 2019

5.0

We use ProPresenter every Sunday and in almost every way imaginable for a Sunday service. We are able to quickly set in points and out points on videos, make videos loop, display Sunday messages and announcements, layer text over video, do countdowns on top of our announcements and set every thing on timers to ensure service always begins on time. If you know what you are doing to set it up, it can basically run itself. I've been running ProPresenter for over 10 years. It moves with the times and can do more than you knew that you wanted to do.

Pros

Versatility Everything you can imagine for presentation is in one place You can customize almost everything Integrates with other software and midi control Can have multiple users at the same time Customer Support is helpful and there are many YouTube tutorials

Cons

Large learning curve Although anyone can sit down and click on the next slide for a presentation, it takes a while to figure out how to navigate it The sync function, which allows you to work on one computer and display on another, did not work well for me after multiple attempts and emails with customer support.

### "Great program!"

July 8, 2019

5.0

Pro-presenter is how we function on Sunday morning during our worship service. We have utilized many other types of display graphics and they don't compare to Pro-presenter. The other don't cost as much as Pro-presenter but in this case you get what you pay for and pro-presenter although pricey is definitely worth it.

Pros

Pro-presenter works really well and is an excellent way to display graphics as well as many other attributes. We utilize it mainly for displaying graphics, lyrics and videos. Our team has just started to utilize some of the more complex functions but still not to the level of some users as we don't use props and we don't necessary build slides within pro-presenter either. For our limited use it works really well.

Cons

We utilize pro-presenter with screen share which makes it difficult to utilize the web browser as it it doesn't function correctly. When trying to show a webpage it cuts out the 120 pixels of edge blending making it impossible to use. We also utilize the hot folder function in conjunction with a google drive folder so we can drop and and remove items easily from many different people that are not on site. Unfortunately, Pro-presenter has a glitch where you cannot move a file within the google drive folder without renaming it. It doesn't recognize the same file and make you rename it to utilize it. Those are the two issues/concerns we have experienced.

### "No other way to go"

We switched from PowerPoint and ProPresenter blows it out of the water in terms of customizability and ease of use. Such a good product!

Pros

ProPresenter is so customizable from the standpoint of the administrator (setting up lyrics, backgrounds, videos, etc.), yet it is really simple and easy to use for those running it on a Sunday morning.

Cons

ProPresenter has a feature (that I love) where it will sync with my order of service from Planning Center. However, unless a song has been imported straight from CCLI Song Select, it will not automatically import the song into the playlist, even if they are named exactly the same as what is listed in the setlist.

### "significant updates in ProPresenter 7"

February 28, 2021

5.0

ProPresenter has been a consistent and reliable presentation software, with ProPresenter 7 introducing the ability to livestream from within the program and send NDI signals to the network. We use it every week for our worship gatherings with great success.

Pros

I love how ProPresenter leads the way in presentation software for houses of worship. It integrates with Planning Center and SongSelect, and volunteers can be trained without much difficulty.

Cons

There are a LOT of features for new users to get their heads around. Sometimes integrated programs need multiple logins to maintain connection. It uses a lot of system resources when running.

### "Love it - mostly!"

July 8, 2019

4.0

See comments in pros/cons, since we put ProPresenter in it has been a love/hate relationship. We use stage display with the iPad which is great, however, they had a big bug where when the iPad lost connection to the WiFi, the TCP disconnection in ProPresenter caused an instant crash. It took us 2-3 months working with ProPresenter support to get this solved. 2-3 stressful months. Also, it is not PowerPoint, if I have something visually spectacular to do, I use PowerPoint and export it as slides, or as a video. This is acceptable as I see ProPresenter as more of a media aggregator and display than a pure slide editing tool. If you just want text and pictures, ProPresenter works perfectly for that (most of our welcome/announcement slides are ProPresenter) However, it is still a brilliant tool, don't get me wrong. I often think back to the days of using PowerPoint, and trying to adjust something, remembering I have to manually make the same adjustment on all slides. ProPresenter templates make this work so easy now. Integration with Song Select is also super helpful, as is the text import feature, for songs from our old hymn books.

Pros

We have a huge library of songs, and ProPresenter makes selecting the playlist for each service quick and easy Templates are amazing, changing font, background, whatever takes seconds Reflow editor is great, changing how many lines are on each screen etc Stage display on iPad is great for us too Compared to powerpoint, it gives great confidence as to what is actually on the output display Super easy to play imported videos

Cons

Very slow to start up (PC version) "Quirky" - there are a few things to get to know, undo doesn't work consistently, sometimes pasting text into a slide will change the font and colour, other times it doesn't. Don't paste a picture that's too big, that's a recipe for a crash, etc. Sometimes crashes randomly, tends to be more during preparation than production, when doing a lot of editing (hasn't crashed in production in 2+ years)

Reason for choosing ProPresenter

Recommendation, and it seemed like the more powerful, versatile, professional tool

We have been very happy with ProPresenter. We automatically upgrade it every year. I am not sure if we can imagine not having it around.

Pros

We were just using Keynote. This software allows us to do so much more faster and easier. Changes on the fly are more tolerable than before

Cons

If you are not a regular user of the software, it can be daunting to learn how to use it. Once you learn though it is very easy.

Reason for choosing ProPresenter

ProPresenter is created more for "productions" than PowerPoint or Keynote.

We needed a product that did more to help with Worship and musical productions on our Campus. This product is awesome

### "Reliable Solution for our Worship Services"

June 26, 2019

5.0

Pros

We've been using ProPresenter6 for Mac for at least 3 years now, and we love it. Having used different software over the years, this is my favorite. It's easy enough that I can teach someone the basic functions to run a presentation pretty easily, but advanced enough that we can do some really cool things. For creating lyric slides, we're able to import new songs from CCLI, and create an manage templates for different looks pretty easily. One of my favorite features is the communication module. We've used this to communicate to other computers via MIDI, and done things like automating slides, light cues, and audio and video.

Cons

The one thing that frustrates me about ProPresenter is the video library. Particularly organizing and tagging videos. It's simply not intuitive to use. We have different categories set up for backgrounds, announcements, or video clips. If you use the file menu to import a clip, you can't select where it goes from the prompt, it just goes in to whatever category is selected in the video bin, which may or may not be opened up. As a result we got a lot of videos loaded into the wrong categories and I have to do some sorting. It would so be nice to have default video settings for each category - rather than having to choose that for every individual video.

### "ProPresenter: the standard for worship and presentation software"

June 26, 2019

5.0

I have used ProPresenter extensively in churches and in concerts over the past 15 years. It has always been a leader in its class providing a level of functionality that directly supports the highest quality presentation technology for worship ministry.

Pros

What sets ProPresenter apart is its breadth and depth of functionality. The software is very approachable for the novice operator to quickly learn how to run a presentation for a service and ProPresenter can scale to meet the most demanding applications involving the most sophisticated multimedia presentations. ProPresenter offers so many capabilities including seamless integration with other software platforms for planning services and events, managing and recalling media content, and rich visual editing and overlays. The software is stable and robust which is vital for achieving a distraction-free and engaging multimedia presentation.

Cons

Although ProPresenter is very approachable for the novice operator, there is a learning curve especially for the person with overall accountability for managing the ProPresenter environment. Running a service is generally very straightforward. Creating and managing the content effectively takes time to learn and to master. Renewed Vision does provide excellent support materials to speed the process of learning the many features of ProPresenter.

### "Fantastic Software, but comes with a learning curve"

June 27, 2019

5.0

Overall, our church has been very pleased with ProPresenter. It does what we need every week, and looks good in the process.

Pros

ProPresenter comes with some incredibly powerful features, making it a very robust program. It works in layers, so you can change motion backgrounds, song lyrics, and more on the fly. I love that you can edit things quickly or make behind-the-scenes changes on your computer while the audience still sees the presentation on the screen, unaware of what you are doing. Our church loves how we can integrate Planning Center and SongSelect right within ProPresenter, making the assembly our our slideshow much smoother than when we were using "do it all yourself" software (like PowerPoint or Apple's Keynote).

Cons

There is a fairly high learning curve. It has taken some time for our volunteers to feel fully comfortable with the software. Even those of us who use it on a regular basis don't fully know all of ProPresenter's features and are still learning even after three years of use. You have to have a fairly robust computer to not have much lag when working within ProPresenter. Also, the editing features (for text, media properties, etc.) can sometimes be clunky. For instance, in most software programs, it is common to double-click on a word to highlight it and then drag your mouse to highlight the rest of the text. However, when you do this within ProPresenter, when you drag the mouse to highlight the remainder of the text, it actually drags and moves the entire text box. It's a small thing, but very annoying. There are several small annoyances like this. Perhaps a more robust computer would eliminate these small

### "Live production software you can trust."

June 29, 2019

5.0

Previously we relied on PowerPoint for putting content on our screens and running lyrics. PowerPoint was terribly limited and very inflexible. ProPresenter, from the earliest versions, has been incredibly flexible, fulfilling every need we have. The stability and feature set makes it the best product on the market.

Pros

Ease of use, stability, and features. With all of the stress related to live events, ProPresenter is something I trust!

Cons

There is limited functionality with hot folders when used with 3rd party syncing services, however, ProPresenter does offer a subscription based synching service for content.

Alternatives considered

[MediaShout](https://www.capterra.com/p/140318/MediaShout/)

Reason for choosing ProPresenter

MediaShout required Windows and while it provided flexibility for dynamic presentations, it did little for video and graphics.

Switched from

[Microsoft PowerPoint](https://www.capterra.com/p/141633/PowerPoint/)

For dynamic presentations and the need for different outputs, PowerPoint was very limited and required much preparation before any event.
