We love the capacity to save and upload even more files, the different bible versions that are available, and creative options available for new backgrounds and fonts. Pros The ease of use of this product is what I most like and therefore recommended and implemented it at our new church that didn't already have a presenter program. It has taken us out of the dark ages of needing an A/V room full of people, who may or may not get their cues correctly, to a synchronized system that perfectly triggers stage lights, audio, video, lyrics, and environmental lighting, all with only one technician! Yes, a game changer for sure! Pros MIDI! The MIDI plugin on ProPresenter allows me to control our ‘Environmental Lighting iMac’ (running ProPresenter) we have set up to throw environmental images on the stage walls, and also trigger the lighting settings in our DMX software iMac—all from our ‘Lyrics iMac’! What used to need 3 trained volunteers, (DMX tech, environment lighting tech, and lyrics tech) now only takes one person, because the other two computers are triggered from lyrics slides! And (with a bit of pre-setup on my part) the system ALWAYS WORKS FLAWLESSLY in perfect synchronization! Our system is now so easy and intuitive, my 12 year-old is now on A/V rotation! Cons Sometimes, I have trouble importing songs directly from SongSelect into ProPresenter. Not sure if this is a widespread problem, or something unique to my computer. It powers everything from mega churches to small town assemblies. The cost is a bit prohibitive for small churches on tight budgets, but it’s an expansive application that just does so much, its price tag is justified. Just as with most software, it has a learning curve. You need to put the time into learning the software to get even half of what it can do out of it. But once you have the hang of it, it performs the job beautifully. Pros The functions of ProPresenter, especially version 6, seem to be endless! The team at Renewed Media have seemingly thought of everything a church would need in presentation software. Cons The learning curve is pretty steep for some of my volunteers. If something goes wrong, I have to rescue most of them. Unless you work with it multiple times per week (like I do as a church staff member), it’s difficult to learn the intricacies. It seems to be the standard for church presentation software in our area. Whereas most presentation software seems very linear (move forward or backward through slides), ProPresenter allows you to easily jump to another song or slide at the click of a button. It also gives great features to find music that might not have been part of the planned set list. Pros \- Motion backgrounds stay constant while text changes - Ideal for houses of worship: - interfaces with CCLI to get lyrics for music - interfaces with Bible applications to enter scripture - easy jump between chorus/verse/bridge of a song to follow those leading music - supports a stage display with limited graphics (visible to presenter(s)) - supports a mobile app to run the presentation from another computer - Imports from other presentation software file formats Cons \- Finicky display settings - Sometimes external display resolutions cause problems when other presentation software works fine - Changing display settings while the application is running may cause it to crash Review Source Shane P. August 31, 2018 5.0 I recommend it, but once again, it depends on your budget and what you really need to accomplish in your church setting. Pros So it really depends on your budget and what you want to accomplish, but I'm a fan of ProPresenter. I've used it in two different church settings, and I honestly don't know of another platform that can do all that ProPresenter can do. Sure - there are other ways to accomplish these goals, but you'd have to piece together several different software platforms. ProPresenter is just a one-stop shop. It does all you need done for the visual side at churches. It seems to play well with other platforms, too. It does take a little time to learn - I never received formal training, but I think it's user-friendly. Cons Depending on how up-to-date it is and the device/computer you're using, it can be a little clunky from time-to-time. However, I'm not sure if that's a laptop/device issue or a ProPresenter issue. It's also a little overwhelming when you first introduce this to people who have no experience with it. Whenever I seem to find limitations there is something new released or demonstrated in a training. Cons You are only limited by the specifications of your computer. Often times, the last thing production and worship is concerned about is lyrics, unfortunately! This program helps the lay person/volunteer to get up to speed quickly and stay one step ahead of the worship leader so that the congregation gets “invited to the party.” I’m very happy with the programs ability to allow the user to modify and make presentation adjustments in the moment without affecting what the audience sees or creating a distraction. Pros We need the ability to use multiple screens and this program does that well. Cons Navigating the program has an initial learning curve and can be a little daunting to go beyond very simple presentations. When it is properly set up and functioning well, you will be pleased by its performance. So be sure to compare its features and nuances before you fully commit to purchasing it. Pros ProPresenter is the industry standard for churches when it comes to church presentation software solutions. There are many features to learn and make use of. There are also many Bible translations to select from as well. And lastly, there are solutions for online and live presentations as well. Cons Though Propresenter is the industry standard, I can be cost prohibitive for smaller churches. In addition, there is a learning curve to learning this software, especially as it pertains to conducting live broadcasts. Therefore it is critical that you (1) know what you want from this software, (2) have the necessary funds for the additional equipment that may be needed and (3) have capable individuals operating the software. Whether you need all the features or not, PP6 is intuitive and simple to use and leaves room to grow for most users - I know very few people or churches that even come close to needing more features than PP6 offers. Pros ProPresenter is incredibly intuitive. There are many features that I have not even had a need to use yet, but whenever I try to do something new, I am usually able to simply learn how to do it within the software - without resorting to tutorials, forums or customer support. Cons The display settings - they make perfect sense to me, but in trouble shooting for other team members, this seems to be the main thing that gets overlooked. 9 times out of 10, when someone calls me to help with this software, it has something to do with their display settings. Reason for choosing ProPresenter I never really considered any other products because I was already familiar with several other similar products and I knew ProPresenter was what I wanted. Pros ProPresenter is by far the easiest presentation software to use. I also has a lot of other uses other than just for worship or presentations. I use it for our announcements on the TVs in our hallways Cons There are a lot of bugs. They aren't dealbreakers but they can be frustrating sometimes. And sometimes they persist for a few updates before they are fixed. Sometimes I feel like I have to find the new bugs after an update comes out and then figure out how to live with them until they are fixed later on Reason for choosing ProPresenter ProPresenter is much, much easier to use. Updates happen frequently, so there is an apparent desire to keep up to date. Cons There are some very frustrating things about this program. It can be very hard to learn starting off. It's not overly user friendly and takes someone really figuring out the workings of the program to create a good presentation. Not plug & play like many other presentation programs (most likely not meant to be though) Sometimes the program gets stuck in "Output on" mode with no way of exiting without closing whole program. It effortlessly handles any embedded video or audio and is just a workhorse program for all our your visual applications and needs. Pros We made the switch to ProPresenter to have more options in our creativity, livestreaming, and general overall graphic and visual content. The options it presents the user with are limitless and great for expanding your creativity many different ways. Cons It would be good if there were more 'on the fly" controls to instantly duplicate slides and do more things with special characters/text. I actually find the bigger the task - the more robust it is. If you have one computer dedicated to Propresenter and a fixed connection with your screens you will have a reliable platform. However, if you are hiring a hall, or have only one computer or one portal to access a screen - Propresenter unlike Keynote cannot be relied on to "just work". This has on occasions led to extreme frustration and a public apology from the front that the technology is holding our program hostage. I have used several other presentation software options - I am still happiest with Propresenter. Pros When it works it is really simple. If you can drag and drop, click and delete and are willing to buy a few extra features like Song Select and a few Bibles - its a dream to run - you can teach a new user in 20 minutes almost everything you need to know. Cons When a gremlin strikes - it can be almost impossible without extra help to work around - and if it happens forget about using PP until its fixed. I have had issues with lost libraries, stage display randomly disconnecting and I have never been able to exit the program and reopen it in live time without my displays disconnecting and being unwilling to reconnect at the correct resolution or on the correct screen. PP is not a sharing program. If you treat it it nicely it works well - but it cannot cope with other programs running simultaneously that might want to share your screen. I hope the developers address this issue soon. Life without it would be soooo much more difficult. Pros For setting up and running the visuals for a show, the workflow is very efficient. Particularly important for us is the integration with 3rd party services such as CCLI SongSelect and Planning Center Online. I can set up a Sunday morning service playlist in about 15 minutes ... maybe 30 if there are several new songs that need to be formatted / reflowed. And the UI is simple enough that I can train a new operator (almost always a volunteer) to run a show in less than 30 minutes. Cons Like any full-featured software, there is enough complexity under the covers that it can be intimidating to tackle new integrations, such as using the multi-screen and communications modules. And the program is a bit of a CPU and memory hog on low-powered machines, so it can be a challenge to deploy it to smaller venues. Review Source SK Stephen K. June 27, 2019 5.0 Well worth the investment. If you have multiple venues on site - highly recommend getting the site license! Having the same program (and the same version) in every venue makes for an easy operating experience for whomever is running the program; there's no worry that something will be functioning differently from venue to venue. This is a great all-in-one style program that keeps you from having to purchase a bunch of equipment to produce a higher-end live screen output. Pros The tools that allow you to customize each aspect of the presentation in various ways - and do it independently of the other elements (e.g. foreground vs. background, slide content editing, etc.). Having access to the integrated Bible is a plus when you have a speaker using scripture, and you can pop up the passage on the fly. We also like the ability to run other slide files in a more integrated manner rather than having to minimize one program to use another. We seem to find more features every once in a while that makes our jobs even easer than before! Cons The search bar for songs/presentation files doesn't always bring up the song your looking for in its results. There have been more than a few times when the worship leader spontaneously goes to a song not on the list and/or while entering the actual song list, the needed song doesn't show up. Sometimes in the latter example, we later find that the song was in the archive after all; and we then have multiple copies of the same song to delete. Review Source TW Tim W. It does have a pretty good learning curve if you are getting into more advance setups. It you are just looking to put bible verses and words on the screen then that is very simple. Pros You can layer words over a set background. It also allows you to project different slides to different projectors. It has a stage slide that will let the people on stage know what the congregation is seeing and what is next along with a timer. You can change what on the stage display too. Cons Many of the features are hidden in the program. 2-3 clicks in. It a little clucky when you get into a large setup using multiple feeds and more than 2 separate screen. For a large church using a lot of video and camera work this is probably not the best. I see some people that have had issues but our issues have been very minimal! There isn't a product out that won't have problems but this has been a great experience for our church. Pros Propresenter makes my life so much easier as a worship leader. I like the reflow so I can set up how I am going to do the song. I like the ease of adding a chorus or bridge. Cons I haven't really run into a whole lot of issues and I'm not sure the volunteer who runs it has even come into very many issues. It's dependable & the best choice for us. Pros ProPresenter is the most simple to use professional display software in existence. It gives you all the features of high end character generators, like alpha key, quick editing of text and graphics, but is simple to use and train volunteers on. It is also a dependable video playback device. It's networking features give great options to sync up multiple computers. It transitions seamlessly between all these necessary functions. They are always coming up with more features and functionality. Cons That there is still no simple way to integrate PowerPoint slides other than exporting jpegs. The browser feature has never successfully worked for me when it would have come in handy with online polling websites. The software provides us with the functionality for sound and projection for these events. For the most part, we are satisfied with the overall experience. Pros ProPresenter offers many functions to use during worship services and other times for the church. It also provides our team ease of use for those who are younger once the initial setup has been prepared. It had been easy to learn and work with as it gives us quick setup and changes can be made during events if needed. The majority of the time, it works and functions like it is designed to do. The audio function is helpful as we run all sound from the computer through the software, even if we are not using projection. Cons We have trouble with program crashing and when one problem is fixed with an update another problem arises. We have had a few times that caused frustration with bugs; however, overall the program functions the way it is designed. Reason for choosing ProPresenter It seemed like the best fit for us and recommendation from others who had used the product. The stage display function is what sold us on this particular product. Pros It's very easy to drag and drop my graphics for church announcements into the app and set them up to run manually or as a slideshow. It has a built in Bible feature, which allows you to look up a passage and plug it into your presentation as slides. You can customize your videos to loop or stop upon completion. You are able to see multiple slides at once, so that you can fire whichever slide you want to, without having to cycle through others. You can easily export the presentation to use on other computers. I use this mostly for teaching and announcements during youth group, but it can also be used to display lyrics for music. Cons If your graphic is too large, it doesn't always display as a thumbnail and takes an extra second or two to fire. Pros Pro Presenter is fairly intuitive. It is quick to learn in regards to basic functionality. It is extremely consistent compared to other platforms I have used. I also appreciate the ability to expand via different modules for customization of a churches visual set up and needs. Cons There are times where small flukes in the system cause confusion and the need to restart. If you have to disconnect while the program is up, the program becomes confused and a restart of the program becomes necessary. I have also had issues with stage display showing on the correct screen in preferences but the wrong screen in actual function. Some of the editing options are organized in a manner that does not always make sense.
