### "So Easy to Implement, I was Done Before I Knew It"

We needed a payment form on our website to accept payments. We didn't want to have to build our own "shopping cart" for this and square payments was a great option to skip that and begin accepting payments quickly.

Pros

I needed to accept payments on my website and I tried using a different program, but the issues seemed almost impossible to overcome, as I am not an experienced website form developer. I easily and quickly had square payments set up on my website and I have never had a single issue accepting payments.

Cons

I have nothing negative to say currently about this product. I had a horrible experience before implementing square payments, so I find this product to be great. I guess I could ask for lower fees, however, they are not all that high, to begin with.

Square payments is way easier to get up and running on a website than Woocommerce. Woocommerce is a good product, but the setup is much more complicated. Square was super fast and easy to begin accepting payments.

Pros

It is easy to use. You can easily access our history in order to issue a refund.

Cons

Occasionally it glitches and crashes but when we call support they usually fix it quickly.

Pros

Square is a super easy super simple app too use. It takes all forms of mobile pay including Apple Pay, google pay, and Samsung pay. It even can use tap for of card payment system which is very important to us at 3 thirteen customs.

Cons

Honestly I have no down fall to this software. If I had to choose it would be having add all the items to the app which can be bothersome at times to search for items to charge customers

We are very happy with the purchase and would recommend Square to other non-profits who need the flexibility and security of payment processing it offers

Pros

The ease of use, reliability and security of our payment process and delivery of an accurate receipt to our purchasers and donators.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve the fist time we used Square, and we needed to call on a more experienced colleague to help us set up the system. However, we are not as tech-aware as others might be so it's probably not an issue for most first-time users. And it would be nice if there were an option for the purchaser to cover our Square expenses that was automatically offered during the payment experience.

I have used Square for 10 years. I have listened to other companies pitches, but stuck with Square, because there is not contract. They are honest as well. Never do they pitch you anything they do not offer. I cannot say that for other payment providers.

Pros

Square is fantastic when you need to swipe a credit card and allows one to avoid the large fees that others require. No contract and buy equipment as you need it.

Cons

The only con is getting a hold of a representative. Note, the solution is so simple that you really don't need help.

Square is great. My customers have the option to pay with a credit card, and even understand that I will upcharge them the transaction fee. With some computer skills, you can make an online store work from your own site, or using one of their templates if you don't care how it looks. Bottom line is that Square gets the job done that needs to be done.

Pros

Setting up Square to accept payments through a device like an Ipad, phone, or laptop, through either swiping or manually entering information, is as easy as it gets. Highest marks for virtual terminal and checkout links, as well as snapshots of important information such as how much is the average a visitor spends, and how much is taken in for a given day. Best of all, payments to your account are very quick, with a fantastic option for instant transfer.

Cons

Hands down, the awful thing about Square, and the thing that could use the most improvement is the Online Store. It looks awful, isn't easy to customize, and takes a bit of knowhow to even get your product or event listed. I've used this for years and keep waiting for Square to make this something that has as much quality as the rest of their service. It doesn't look like they are interested. Also, merchant services through banks charge fees that the average small business owner can't justify.

Reason for choosing Square Payments

Square is easy to set up, integrates the technology you already use, and makes payments for your customers easy, and funds your bank account swiftly. I don't see another small business focused processor that effectively competes. If Square would put some time and effort into making their online store aesthetically pleasing and more user friendly (a part of this service that many won't need anyway) I would give them all five stars.

Pros

When it works it's okay and you get payments quickly.

Cons

When the card reader doesn't work, which can happen for multiple reasons (no wifi, the card's strip is worn out, the reader is worn out, etc.) Square has instructions on their Support page to enter the credit card information manually. I encountered this situation at my last show with 100% of my credit card sales, followed Square's instructions from their Support page, and received an "Approved" response with each transaction. Square's records showed these transactions were transmitted to them as "cash" transactions so they refused to compensate me for the sales. If you use Square, you know that cash transactions are very different from manual credit card input. They do not display fields for you to enter credit card information, expiration date and the code on the back of the card, and they do not ask for the customer's zip code. This was all information I manually inputted with each transaction - but it did not transmit to Square. But again, with each transaction Square responded with "Approved". Square did not acknowledge any problems at their end and would not help me, so I essentially held a "Free Sale" where I paid for booth space at the show in order to give my products away. I have no idea if the customers' credit cards were charged. I only know that I will not receive payment for my goods because Square will not investigate the problem on their end. However, in telling me this they kindly hoped that I would have a "wonderful day!"

My overall experience is A++ since I am able to accept and process payment at a fraction of the cost and without costing me more time and effort.

Pros

Using this software for a couple of years now I really like the ease of use and how it's transferable between all my devices. I am able to access reports, process payments, and more from the mobile dashboard or my PC. It doesn't require that I have or use any additional products or equipment for function. They have very friendly and knowledgable customer service and support. I love that you are able to integrate Square into other systems for a more robust system.

Cons

I wasn't able to really pin point anything that I didn't like or enjoy regarding the software.

Overall, Square keeps winning our business for it's ease of use, reliability, and transparency in costs.

Pros

No per swipe fees and a flat rate fee make Square the most transparent point of sale software of the market. Accepting payments is easy and straightforward. After 10 years of use, we have shopped around and can't find a better, easier to learn interface than the Square system for our high volume storefronts.

Cons

Integration with other software could be better, such as with Quickbooks online. Support has never been great but has improved over the last 3 years.

Pros

Super simple to set up and use! We use this for high school sales, fees, and fundraisers and have had such an increase in sales since introducing Square. We are able to manage an online student store from our campus and take sales with us on the go to games or community events with an iPad. We love that we can track all sales in one program no matter the form of payment.

Cons

Our biggest complaint has been the lack of customization in online stores. There are limited features for design and even more limited features for taxes, delivery fees, etc. I wish these could be customized per item rather than per store.

### "Square: The Good and Bad"

They were my first choice in the beginning, but after the 2 disputes and how bad they handled them, I went back to PayPal. I still keep them for some of my less conventional clients (the ones who don't want to/ or can't follow a link, but rather just give me their info over the phone).

Pros

It's easy to use. Your favorite device becomes your POS which is convenient especially for those of us who do work on the road. You can get instant deposit with an extra fee which is nice.

Cons

I don't like their customer service. You have to pay extra to be able to call their customer service number and even if you do (because I did the trial for premium service), they don't really resolve anything. I also don't like their dispute process. You get very limited time to submit your documentation proving the transaction was valid. Some paperwork takes a while to get from clients. AND...they allowed a couple of clients to dispute charges that were from the year past, which I still don't understand. The worst part of the dispute process is that they'll take the money from your account and then take forever to return it. In both my cases, I had to pay the premium service to be able to talk to customer service, which got me nowhere and then had to email the dispute team with additional information (which you're not supposed to do since they have a form you fill out through the portal). And then, if you have customer who makes purchases for the same amount...you can't do instant deposit because they'll hold the funds to make sure you're not ripping people off even though you've demonstrated to be a credible and reputable business.

### "Great Program, Great functional devises and Inexpensive"

The money I have charged is placed in my account very quickly, and I get my receipt and a report after payment is received. Very awesome tracking system that I utilize for taxes.

Pros

#1 Pro, Inexpensive, besides paying for the devices, $10 for the plugin square, $50 for the wireless multi-capable card insert device, which is less than what Merchant services charges you to rent their device monthly or purchase the fees are the same as any and every credit card fee. that is my only expense after the devices are purchased. In addition you download the app to your phone and you don't even need the device, you will lose 1% more but that is still inexpensive.

Cons

to be honest I do not have any real concerns, the only think that crosses my mind is, what happens if i lose the wireless device, does it save any info on it that can be hacked.

Customizing the POS was super easy with tons of options. The chip/tap to pay reader is super quick and reliable. Gives clients the option of texting or emailing receipts. Being a service provider I love that it automatically prompts my clients for tips so that I don’t have to awkwardly ask them if they would like to tip me. I haven’t yet tried integrating it with my booking software but I like that it has the capability to be fully integrated through that system. I also like that it gives my clients more options on how to pay include touch free options like Apple Pay.

Pros

I mostly work out of my office but I occasionally see clients at their homes so it was important for me to have the option to accept credit card payment even if I was out of the office. It is very versatile and easy to use and customize to your business.

Cons

I have had no issues with the software though I would highly suggest investing in at the very least a chip reader/tap to pay because the mag stripe reader is super hit or miss and isn’t worth the hassle of trying to swipe it over and over again. However, they are good to have on hand for the rare client who doesn’t not have a chip. Also, as far as fees go I haven’t don’t extensive research but my business Venmo does charge me slightly less fees but far fewer clients want to use that option so I feel like the versatility beats that one out.

Cons

Tap to pay on iPhone is only in the United States right now, this feature would allow us to have multiple transactions at once.Their web software is great if you only sell a few products, but we needed more control over display and layout

I love it. It’s been a pleasure to work with, simple to use, full of features that I’m still discovering new everyday, and fair pricing. I love the Mobile features where it can virtually be used anywhere. Overall, it’s been fantastic!

Pros

It’s easy to use, but has many features to it. I have used it for years and I feel they are fair with the costs involved and the money is quick to deposit in my account. I have never had a problem at all with security or fraud. Overall, it is nice to work with and full of extras!

Cons

Honestly, there really isn’t anything. The only problem I have had was a Bluetooth card reader didn’t last very long and Wouldn’t hold a charge.

I’ve used other platforms in the past and I can’t recommend Square enough. They’re a very reliable platform and the customer service is A+. Customers trust processing their transactions through this system and for sellers it’s a very great alternative to other (sometimes even more popular) platforms. The fees also very low. They have apps for every device and that makes the in person payments not only possible but súper easier than others

Cons

I haven’t encountered any issues with this platform so I wouldn’t change anything about it so far

Great innovative service for small businesses and great support/troubleshooting when something goes wrong.

Pros

I love how quick, easy and efficient this system is. I also like how many options they have for devices for your business type. The cost is transaction based which is great and the price is reasonable. You can preset your items/prices for fast checkout. Most software systems support square and you can also checkout right from there.

Cons

The Bluetooth can stop working unexpectedly and my reader doesn’t warn me about when the battery is about to die. You may want to consider the charging dock to ensure it’s always charged.
