That we can get terminals in Staples, can use the dongle, or punch in the numbers, is wonderful. That the approval process was relatively straight forward was also impressive. We've not had to use customer support yet, so can't attest to how easy it is to get something resolved if there are issues. Pros We needed a solution to accepting credit card payments, square gave us a quick, easy solution we were able to setup online, get the reports we need to track the sales easily and even allow us to process in person if we need to. Cons Figuring out how to access some of the reports, what we are paying in fees and setting up the online store was a bit cumbersome. " April 12, 2022 4.0 Honestly I really love square payments it makes it processing payments for my business so much easier, and I love knowing that my payments are safe. Pros I love the ease of use. I love that you can have your square card reader plugged right into your phone for on the go payments. Cons I don't like that I had to pay so much for a square card reader. Graphic and website designer Design Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Great for freelancers and small business owners" April 13, 2021 5.0 Not only is it an easy way to invoice clients, but it also has additional features I like such as sending out automatic reminder emails when the invoice doesn’t get paid by a certain time (the user decides on the time frame for sending out reminders emails). The company has integrated additional services over the years, such as easily managing employee paychecks. I don’t use most of the services since I use Square for freelancing work, but i can still see the benefit in those improvements they’ve made. Pros This software is really easy to implement and makes invoicing and keeping track of payments received a breeze. I love that it gives you the option to add your branding (which in turn gets added to the invoices). It’s also nice that they allow customers/clients to keep their card number on file. I’ve been using Square for around 8 years and I still have access to all my invoices. (That makes it easy when doing taxes. 😄) Since I’ve been using the software for so long I’ve been able to see improvements as they make updates to it. They seem to constantly strive to make it as user-friendly as possible. Cons The first few times I initiated instant transfers to my bank account, I struggled to figure out where that option was. It’s not the most intuitive process. But I’ve done it enough times that it’s no longer a hassle. It's portable, dependable and reliable. Thumbs up from me! Pros What I enjoy about Square Payments Processing is that I literally can take my IPad to a clients home and I can run a credit card thru the Square Processor which plugs into the auxiliary outlet. I absolutely love this. It makes payments with a card, which is how most people pay now a days, a breeze. They are also able to tip on Square Processor. Cons One thing I sometimes don't like, is sometimes it takes quite a few swipes of somebody's card to get it to go thru. However, if I am having an issue, you can always type the card in. Cons Mon terminal square ( 2 ans d'utilisation)fermait automatiquement plusieurs fois dans la journée alors que la batterie était pleine. J'ai appelé pour avoir de l'aide et la seule réponse que j'ai eu c'est de m'acheter un autre terminale suivi de la phrase "nous sommes désolé ". Je voulais savoir s'il y avait possibilité de le faire regarder par leur équipe pour réparation, non il n'y avait pas de possibilité, il fallait je prenne une vidéo et rappel l'assistance . Très compliqué d'avoir du support technique, moi et mon mari on a regarder sur internet pour trouver une solution par nous même et nous avons réussie facilement à régler le problème en fesant un "hard reset" et tout fonctionnait par la suite. Je suis vraiment déçu du service à la clientèle que j'ai eu, il faut s'arranger nous même pour comprendre les problèmes de notre appareil. It is easy to add items in and also put in custom amounts when needed. Cons The square mobile reader is not perfect and harder to use when there is not a flat surface but we can get it the card information entered manually still if needed. The majority of clients prefer to pay by credit or debit card and most have used Square at some point so are already familiar with it. Pros I really like that I can sell eGiftcards through the Square software so my clients can purchase via a link from my website without having to contact me. Also, that Square is compatible and completely integrated with my booking software (MassageBook). Cons The recent change in fees has been a bit confusing. I don't think overall there has been much of a change in what I'm paying, but I have had to pay more attention to the fee part of the transaction as it is no longer as straightforward as it previously was. Pros I was used to it. I did like that they added business banking, too bad they were so horrible with it. Cons Square notified me of suspicious charges, all of which from one day, and all of which were fraudulent. They took 4.5 months to put the money back in my account temporarily. 6 months later they took it back. Some of these were known to be fraudulent from doing a simple Google search. Every time I contacted them I got the same result, they were escalating it to their disputes team and I would hear back 1-2 days. I never once heard back from them. It was only by checking my account that I found I lost the disputes. Apparently there is no appeals process other than engaging an attorney. The high fees along with this terrible customer service and their inability to know what is actually fraudulent make them a poor resource for handling your money. Ease of set-up, ease of use, and ease of reporting have all been terrific. We don't spend a lot of time thinking about it, because most of the time, it just works. A payments processing solution that doesn't require a lot of attention or thought is perfect for what we need. Pros Since we have technicians in 30 different city and states who perform road service on the side of the road we do not see our customers and our technicians do not deal with payments. Square has a machine where you can swipe customers credit cards, but for businesses in our predicament Square lets you go online and run a customers credit card by typing it in manually. We have the option to transfer it straight to our account right away or wait until it batches out at the end of the day. You will ned a zip code and CVC code for each transaction. You can send receipts to customers via email or straight to their cell phone as soon as you run their card. If you have a dispute with a company the process is pretty smooth. Allowing you to enter in information on your behalf of the work that was performed and adding pictures of credit card authorization forms, or pictures of the job being done as proof. I choose Square for the lower processing fees and because the point of sale app is so easy to use. The integration with WooCommerce generally works well with only a few glitches here and there. I definitely prefer my customers use Square versus PayPal. Much nice tracking and reporting with Square. Pros I use the Square swiper to process sales at my local farmer's market -- always works. Very reliable! I also have Square integrated into my shop website (WooCommerce) to process purchases. Fairly easy to set up. Also like that the processing fee has remained low. Cons The WooCommerce-Square integration can be somewhat finicky at times. Probably about a 95% uptime rate -- but once in a while a transaction will not go through. Usually a quick reconnect but can be frustrating. Not sure if the issue is with Square or WooCommerce, though -- they blame each other. ;) Reason for choosing Square Payments Lower fees, easy of use, easy to sign up and start using it. It keeps us from wasting paper. Also, the system moves quite quickly and is extremely self-explanatory. I also remember a while ago there were Square card readers that could be plugged into phones through the headphone jack (back when headphone jacks were a thing) which I thought was extremely interesting. Cons There's not much there is to dislike about Square - I'm not sure how well it works with Apple or Android Pay (or any other kind of virtual wallet), so it might not be as optimal for people to that end.
