It also acts as a bit of a CRM database too! Pros We love using square to collect donations and other payments while on the go or at events. Square has a beautiful, user friendly, intuitive interface that's easy to learn and has all the tools you need. Cons The main thing not to like about any payment processing is just the cost of having to use them, but the benefits outweigh the cost. Square is also very competitive. Review Source ML Marty L. Pros Square came in handy doing in person events where payments were needed. Cons Have not used any online features where people could pay/donate from our website. I use this not only for work but also if I sell things personally online such as household items. Its quick easy and the cost is very reasonable. The contactless option makes it really simple to use and helps the person using it feel safe and protected. It can be used no matter where I am and the money goes directly into the account it needs to be in a day or two. I also love the daily reports listed it helps me stay organized and keeps my books balanced. I can look back on any days square was used if I need to recall what payments where collected that day. Cons I feel like the square needs to be charged quite often, the battery doesn't last very long. Also sometimes the square just doesn't connect to my phone at all so it makes it frustrating if the person is waiting and the square needs to be restarted. Review Source CL Cheyenne L. When one client needed to use credit card payment, we used Square Processing as our service to allow that. For the time this service was required, Square fit our needs very well, and allowed us to solve a problem. Pros It was very simple to take over-the-phone credit card processing for a client when the need arose. Getting instant electronic receipts and records was very convenient. Pros I love that the card readers are easy to use and let you accept all sorts of cards including Apple Pay. My only limiting factor is my connection speed or no service, but that is not a factor associated with the square software. Pros After downloading the app to my phone I was ready to start taking payments. Easy to use and secure. Cons The only con at this time is that when I take payments on Friday it is Monday before the transfer to my account takes place. Pros The ease of use of this product is the best selling feature. Having used other credit card processing systems in other jobs, including setting up services from the initial launch, Square is by far the easiest to use. I also love how fast the payments are deposited into my account. I've had major delays in other systems and have not ever had a problem with Square. Cons The only downside I can say is that sometimes the mobile card reader for my iPhone takes a couple swipes to register, but other than that, I don't have any cons for Square. April 17, 2019 4.0 We use this for invoicing daily for our small cleaning business in Ohio. It has streamlined invoicing and payments and saved our company LOADS of time and money. Great work, Square! Pros I LOVE Square for quick and easy transactions. I love that it has an easy-to-use app and an easy-to-use online GUI that make small business sales super-easy. And I love that you can invoice and keep customer records in the Square cloud! (I just hope it doesn't get hacked haha.) Cons The app is not great on iPhone. I've definitely seen some bugs, like when you try and remove the auto-sales tax option (it doesn't let you on iPhone sometimes, but always works right away on Android.) Review Source AP Aylon P. This plugged right into a cell phone and allows small business owners to manage services and goods in a matter of minutes. Location verification is also used in receipt generation and is supposed to prevent fraud (I believe). Note, although I selected square for use, I did so on a personal level for myself, not for my company. Square (or at least the mobile Point of sale products) would not be helpful to a company with more than 10 employees or more than one to two locations in my opinion. Pros It’s very cheap and will allow small businesses to take card payments. I do recommend the model that you set on a table and I’ll tell you why. Cons Before switching to Clover we used Square. The problem with square is that every day customers thought that I’m stealing their credit card information and downloading it to my phone. Yes, people are stupid and it was annoying. Pros Having used other payment gateways, this was by far the easiest to set up and the fees weren't too bad. Cons Not really too much to be upset with. CEO Farming Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Treats merchants horribly and will deactivate your account for no reason given" May 19, 2023 1.0 Great initial experience with mobile card transactions. However, our account was deactivated out of the blue. We reached out to customer support and they simply told us that our account was deactivated and the decision was final. We were not offered a reason or given a recourse. We called customer service several times due to being hung upon. Finally reached a supervisor and we were told they aren't going to tell us why our account was deactivated and they were refusing access to our funds for 90 days. Pros Mobile payment processing, ease of implementation and use Cons Horrible customer service and will not tell you reason for account deactivation. They will tell you to either create a new account or go somewhere else. We could not possibly create a new account with them without even knowing what went wrong. Business Owner Photography Used the software for: 2+ years ### "My Experience with Square " April 26, 2019 5.0 Pros What I love most about using Square to recieve payment for services, is that I can provide a convenience for my clients who want to pay face to face at bookings. All I need is my cell phone and the small credit card reading device that Square provided me, which I keep in my wallet. I attach it to my phones headphone outlet and open up the app and create an invoice for payment. During my account set up with Square a few years ago, I linked my bank account to the software so that all transactions go directly to my specified account, no confusion. Cons There is a fee to use the Square software/service, but I find by adding tax per client transaction, it can help to balance out the overall percentage Square costs per deposit. Pros We appreciate how easy Square integrates with IPad, we utilize our IPad with Square as our Credit Card processor and it works great.
