While I choose FF for its capabilities, I did not expect the software to have so many flaws the result in incorrect information reporting. Performance measurement is often inaccurate due to sloppy coding. Shortcuts and band-aid approaches are often suggested to fix such issues, but that does not fix the underlying problems with the software. FF needs better engineers and better customer service before I'd recommend subscribing. Pros FF's customization is excellent--when it works. There are capabilities in the software that I have not seen in other portfolio management systems for twice the price. Cons The customer service is pitiful. I have been transitioned from one employee to another in the past two years while trying to address flaws in the software. Employee retention seems to be a major issue. I have many issues outstanding from 12-18 months ago that have never been addressed which result in incorrect, inaccurate, and misleading information to me an my clients. Before recommending FF I'd need to see more reliability, better reconciliation procedures, individually assigned customer services reps, and a better digital help library to use the many custom features FF software promises. Pros FinFolio is highly customizable and the GUI interface makes light work of most reports. The graph and chart capabilities are great--when they work properly. A primary reason I choose FF is because they were willing and able to import historical transactions from multiple portfolio reporting software. The import process is relatively easy, but the reconciliation process (via reports) is cumbersome. The ability to view and report portfolios in multiple ways is rare in the industry. Cons I've cycled through several "customer service" reps since signing on in late 2017. Turnover has been high and responsiveness has been slow. I like the capabilities FF offers, but I've had trouble with several essential functions such as custom report writing, cost basis calculations, and speed. The system was very slow when I first started, but is a non-issue today thanks to some upgrades. We've also been able to speed up the process of implementing and rebalancing our investment models. Pros We liked the value relative to other software we tested out. Cons The conversion from our old portfolio accounting software was difficult, though we expected that regardless of which company we went with. The interface on both the desktop and web app were pretty intuitive so learning the software was still better than expected. Getting the data into FinFolio formatting was time-consuming. Our firm prefers a pricing model of by seat rather than by account or AUM. The high level of customization in terms of how we view information to how we report information to clients has been great. Cons Coming from dbCAMs we have seen several issues with the transition of old data into the new system. Secondly, with every update to Finfolio there has been some glitch that has affected the way we utilize the system causing a stop on work on our end and extra time of my employees working with customer service or developers to develop a fix. FinFolio is the only system that will convert data from dbCAMS+, and we do our best to work with the client to fix any problems we find in the old software. It sounds like you are on our 1.0 desktop product. We'd love a chance to upgrade you to FinFolio 2.0 which is web based and much easier to use. I like the exporting of the billing to upload to custodians. I like the reports when the information is correct. Cons It is very slow. Some of the information that is pulled into the reports make zero sense and if I closeout and restart FF, then the report will make sense. It should not glitch so much. The analysis button should be a little more user friendly or have a user guide that can explain it better. We'd love a chance to upgrade you to FinFolio 2.0 which is web based, faster and easier to use. "Reports make zero sense" sounds like you may be self-hosting and doing your own data reconciliation. Also like the ability to manually enter data and build model portfolios to track performance. Like the ability to build reports that meet our needs as a firm and personalize with logo etc.. Cons Due to the flexibility and customization sometimes it is difficult to troubleshoot and pinpoint problems with reports or bugs that may arise. Sometimes the applications slows down or freezes and have to jump out of specific sections to refresh. This software is lightyears ahead of the competition! It has allowed me to run my firm at the highest level of efficiency! Pros The ease of use as well as the user interface, not to mention the functionality, and flexibility! I've been in the industry for 20 years and I've tried every other portfolio management software and this is by far the best available!! Most of the other software available may have pieces of what FinFolio has to offer, but finfolio is the total package.
