### "Peace of mind that follows you around"

October 14, 2021

5.0

Pros

First of all, contrary to other similar software I used in the past, this one doesn't slow my computers to a crawl. It does everything it says, does it well, and offers a web version as well as an installable version which can be conjured to use within most windows applications. Great for my Scrivener workflow.

Cons

Bit bare-bone and the windows app seems bulky and clumsy to use at times but under the hood it packs a lot of powerful features and quality tools

### "ProWritingAid for Pros that write."

July 30, 2021

5.0

I believe I have improved my writing, especially in documentation and emails.

Pros

This has helped me improve my English over the past year. I find I get fewer suggestions from PWA. I still get plenty. :-) I'm using this via plugins in several apps. (Most that they support.) I've not had a single problem in over a year of using it like this.

Cons

If I'm editing a large email or document, it can slow down what appears on the screen. I realize that's because it's sending it to their servers. Sometimes this is really fast, so I think it's \*really\* the speed of my internet.

### "Reviewing your writing as you go is a time saver! "

August 8, 2021

5.0

I have used ProWritingAid for years and appreciate the corrections it makes for me in email and writing in general. I find it is helpful and helps me improve my writing in general.

Pros

I love that ProWritingAid is available for any time I write an email in Gmail or Outlook without having to launch it. It has saved me from emailing with missing text or misspelled words.

Cons

ProWritingAid is very helpful, but sometimes you do not want it to correct your text so there were times I had to turn it off for these times.

### "What is ProWriting Aid like to Use"

July 19, 2023

5.0

Polishing he text I produce is a far smoothr and correct process now

Pros

it is transparent. I do not have to enter another app and set up the file and default system structure

Cons

The American grammar and spelling bias!In entering my name for this survey, I dislike being prevented from typing my name as it legally is, i.e. Tarbox-Cooper. Hyphens are part of the English language and nomenclatures.

because ProWritingAid is so much easier to use, it is more often correct. Also Grammarly were in the process, they told me, of changing their policies.

### "It's Cost Effective and Useful"

February 7, 2023

5.0

It's a great proofreader and AI writing software. It's definitely worth the try.

Pros

ProWritingAid is not just for fixing grammar and spelling; it's a full writing assistant that can assist in the sales process or any reason for your writing. Using this software, you can fix sentence structure, find excessive adverbs and adjectives, and show your pacing, sentence length graph, and readability score. With it, you have a personal editor in your pocket. It's simple and easy to use; and flags issues you may not see when hand-reading your drafts. It even offers improvements and consistency suggestions.

Cons

There is no unlimited proofreading in the free version. Despite that, it's a great piece of software. Well worth checking out.

### "If you write fiction...be careful"

October 5, 2021

4.0

Pros

The software is easy to use and integrates easily into almost any place you want to write. Overall, it provides some great information that is very useful.

Cons

It only does OK editing fiction. I find myself overriding it about 40% of the time so that it doesn't drown out my personal style and voice. I think for technical writing and nonfiction it may do much better although I have no experience in that area with this software at this time.

Reason for choosing ProWritingAid

I actually have both prowritingaid and Grammarly. I find they both find completely different issues so I like to run my work through both.

### "A handy tool for finessing writing"

October 7, 2022

Pros

I really like how ProWritingAid picks up on the minute parts of my writing that I may have overlooked in proofreading and ensures I do not let them slip past the editing phase.

Cons

I don't have many qualms with this tool, though sometimes the tone feature can be a little wishy-washy.

### "ProWritingAid is better for Windows users"

November 14, 2021

5.0

Pros

This software has made it easier for me to write clearer content on the web. It catches spelling and other errors that matter to me.

Cons

Unless you're writing on the web, ProWritingAid isn't very Mac friendly. They only have a Word plugin for Word for Windows. I hope they will change this soon.

### "Great Choice for Secure and Smart Grammar Checking "

February 19, 2019

5.0

It literally takes a couple of minutes to figure out the user-friendly tools and setting up reports to review your areas for improvement. The software is currently number one on my grammar checking software list because it does not simply focus on writing mistakes, but also the overall written quality. ProWritingAid ultimately creates a way for you to for you to develop your writing skills while providing a fresh, impacting, unique, and error-free output for readers to enjoy.

Pros

It is a friendly editing, style, and grammar checker software that contains most of the useful features you could want as a professional, newbie writer, or editor. Once you have begun to use it, it takes less than ten minutes to figure it out. The software is intuitive and the toolbar is quick to understand and informative about your errors. It can easily locate repetitiveness in sentences, which I really like. Additionally, writers will be happy to know that Google Docs and Scrivener can be combined with ProWritingAid, which makes it a very convenient-to-use checker. I love that it is inexpensive and costs less than a hundred dollars for an annual subscription compared to other types of grammar software.

Cons

There are a couple of minor downsides like being unable to make corrections when it comes to writing with textboxes online; this feature would have been handy. Second, the software has no extensions available for iOS, Firefox, or Safari integration. LaTex, a popular document preparation system, is also unfriendly with the software. Lastly, Mac users cannot use the software because there is currently no available plugin for Microsoft Word. The advantages weigh out the inconveniences overall and it will only affect you if you are particular about integrating it with other tools.

### "ProWriting Aid for a Newbie"

October 12, 2022

4.0

Thus far, ProWriting Aid has been helpful in editing and proofreading. I plan to continue to use it, despite some of my complaints. I hope, in the future, these may be addressed.

Pros

The options of alternate expression and use of grammar and punctuation checks were helpful. The checks used for the style definitely help one to 'stop and think' about how a passage will be read. Attempting to adjust the writing to improve the 'score' can be challenging, but worth it.

Cons

Once downloaded, can be a memory hog and often slows down my browser by trying to load itself onto a page I don't need it for. Also, the spell check on names and items particular to a text can be frustrating when the words are not added to the Dictionary because it affects the 'grade' of the text.

### "ProWritingAid Indivitual Lifetime Buyer review"

April 23, 2023

4.0

Overall, it is helpful but not the best, and I purchased it assuming it would unlock some exceptional hidden features that are not available in the free version. However, I don't think I noticed any surprising features. But as I have a lifetime membership, I am excited to see upcoming features, which I believe will be available as a lifetime buyer, so I am hoping for the best in the future.

Pros

It gives several rephrases and synonyms for each selected world, if possible. It has a different reporting mechanism that helps determine the problems in long sentences, and it is more inexpensive than other grammar-checking platforms like Grammarly.

Cons

It does not correct the sentence by suggesting grammar fixes; when I recheck the sentence with Grammarly after fixing it via ProWritingAid, Grammarly sometimes still gives grammar errors. Sometimes both ProWritingAid and Grammarly contradict each other. I used the paid version of Grammarly for a few months. I believe that saves time when you have to work quickly during the working day, and quick auto-suggestion works well in Grammarly.Sometimes, when I have to reply quickly to someone with a grammatically correct sentence, when responses are slow, even on a 300 KBPS fiber optic connection, I can't respond quickly, thus feeling messed up.

### "Matt's Review of ProWritingAid"

April 21, 2023

5.0

It is better than Grammarly. Also other programs out there. This program is vital for my work now.

Pros

Word and browser integration. How it also integrates in simple apps like notepad, wordpad.

Cons

It does not have a plug-in for ChatGPT yet, except for suggestion, which is awesome. Does not have plug-in for other very popular programs, e.g. Excel, or maybe have not use yet.

Reason for choosing ProWritingAid

Comprensive. Extensive.

### "Get the best writing experience with ProWritingAid!"

September 29, 2022

5.0

I love my experience with ProWritingAid! It's been a great help in fine-tuning my writing and catching errors I would never have caught on my own. The best part is that it is very easy to use and I can see changes to my work immediately.

Pros

I find ProWritingAid to be an excellent tool. Not only does it help me correct my mistakes such as grammatical errors that I would have missed, overuse of words, and inconsistency of style, but it also gives me tips on how to improve my writing, which makes it easier to read. It is a perfect writing assistant that allows me to track my progress and make sure I am getting the most out of the software.

Cons

I will say that ProwritingAid is detail-oriented, but for me, I don't mind.

### "ProWriting Aid"

June 27, 2022

5.0

I write in batches now and again so I'm not a week in week out type of writer. Therefore when I start my next manuscript I'll need to relearn the software as it has changed so much. Saying all that it is still by far the best as helping me shape my work.

Pros

Ease of use - I run my text through ProWritingAid multiple times for different reasons. Each time it tightens up my errors and suggests better wording until I'm ready to pass over to my editor.

Cons

The new look and feel. I was so used to the last version and how it easy it was. Now I don't use it as much as I struggle with the new interface.

Reason for choosing ProWritingAid

I hear a few podcasters singing your software's praises - gave it a try and stayed with it.

### "ProWritingAid is my number one editor"

November 10, 2022

5.0

I've used PWA for several years. I've tried the others and don't like them as well as this one.

Pros

I love being able to edit my manuscripts right away. It helps clean up the issues and to produce a polished copy.

Cons

It doesn't do well in Google Docs, which is what I use. I have to copy/paste it into a web editor, which requires a few extra steps. And then it doesn't maintain the formatting.

Switched from

PWA is more affordable and easier to use, or it uses about the same as Grammarly without the huge price tag.

### "Great Tool for Extremely Short Texts, Monumental Fail Otherwise "

June 12, 2020

3.0

Sharing my two cents about ProWritingAid that I purchased a lifetime licence for: If you're reviewing texts about 300 - 400 words in length at maximum, you'll be happy with the tool. Otherwise, it's not worth the money. If you need a short-term solution, then by all means go for it but don't pay a buck for actually using the SW. I've been using the Word add-on for over three months now and if you want to use most of the tools on more than 800 words, the tool simply can't handle the 'load.' Usually, it breaks off after a minute or so and you can run the check again which normally doesn't help. You end up wasting a ton of your time and accomplish nothing at all. While the language advice and the correction improvements you get recommended are helpful, you're better off using Grammarly or another alternative if you're reviewing long chunks of text in one go and don't want to constantly copy-paste from Word to their interface and back which is a pain if you have to do that daily like myself.

Pros

Totally intuitive. If you know anything about how English, grammar and vocabulary alike, finding your way through the options and how they work will be a breeze. No learning curve. The tool as well as the report are perfectly self-explanatory. Easy-to-use online interface.

Cons

Useless add-on when dealing with texts of 800+ words. Constant copy-pasting to and from the online interface wasting your time.

Switched from

[Grammarly Business](https://www.capterra.com/p/170306/Grammarly-Business/)

I prefer to purchase software rather than rent it (i.e. renew subscriptions) but I rather pay for regular Grammarly subscriptions now that I know what ProWritingAid has to offer. I can always make more money but the time wasted hoping ProWritingAid would actually return any results when it did not is gone for good. Copy-pasting text from Word to their online interface is not a long-term solution if you're handling dozens of pages of text every day.

### "Use ProWriting Aid"

May 14, 2023

Pros

This software enhances your writing and is a necessity no matter what you find yourself writing. The attachment for your browser is a game changer as well because it can help you on all facets of your writing without you having to open it and paste things in. This is a great product. The lifetime subscription helps save you money as well!

Cons

The thing I like the least is simply the monthly price as it is very expensive. I wish they had a cheaper monthly price.

### "Well worth the money."

September 21, 2021

4.0

I really like it. I'm glad I found the program and I use it almost daily.

Pros

I like this software because it can handle large documents. I've used it to edit a complete novel. It gives me a great help to find misspelled words and troublesome sentences most of the time I don't easily recognize as being problems. In the end, it allows me to produce a polished document that is concise and direct, and readable.

Cons

Some bugs require some work to fix. I've found them on comments in Word for the Mac. They sometimes add comments to the text field, which is a problem. Also, I'd like a tense report. Some of us mix tenses in our writing which isn't a good thing.

### "Vaporware editing software that underperforms your word processor"

September 21, 2022

1.0

The software gives the illusion of being helpful, but once you begin using it, you quickly realize that you spend more time dismissing its recommendations than finding bonafide mistakes and content improvements. The suggestions are far worse than what MS Word offers. I found this software constantly trying to take writing and turn it into something akin to an ESL student's language (unnatural, defunct of style, questionable grammar). This was true for college essays, legal documents, and interview notes. I would strongly recommend Grammarly over this or just stick with MS Word. This software is vaporware that does nothing to improve your writing, but it succeeds in slowing productivity quite well.

Pros

The UI is simple and clean. It installs easy.

Cons

The software "suggestions" often make the writing worse (if followed). Out of 10 "suggestions" maybe only 1 is a valid correction not already found by a built-in editor.

It's easy to use, it isn't always correct for your style - but it makes you look at what you are writing with an editing perspective so it is a great step to add if you produce documents, blogs, research papers etc.

Pros

### "Great tool for writers "

November 27, 2019

4.0

Overall, I find this tool very useful when having to deal with a big amount of text or having to write a lot for work on a daily basis. It does offer a huge amount of insights and information to help you improve your writing skills over time.

Pros

ProWritingAid is a very nice tool to make sure all your content is written properly. It is extremely easy to use and you can set it up in just a few minutes. To start checking a document, you can upload an existing one or create a new one from scratchIt corrects your mistakes and classifies them in grammar, style, and spelling. This allows you to understand where you should improve. I found it very useful in the cases we have to write long manuals. It gives you endless possibilities to get further information about words (dictionary definitions, quotes, etc), same with extensive explanations of why your sentence needs corrections. The dashboard is very complete, and you find all the information on stats about your most common mistakes, key suggestions for improvements, vocabulary, etc.

Cons

As in my team, we usually do not write long documents and we use it mostly for emails and presentations, we have decided to use another alternative tool as we found it more suitable for our purpose. Something that offered a 'check on the go' At the time I tried it, they offered only the yearly subscription and the free trial was 14 days. It would be nice to have other subscription options that are more flexible
