### "It's good but not my first choice."

June 6, 2024

4.0

It's alright. The price point doesn't make it worth my while. The AI suggestions are alright. The system could use some tweaking to bring in more accuracy with the content being analyzed.

Pros

I love the ease of use. ProWritingAid is very easy to use.

Cons

When I submitted my manuscript to my proofreader, I was annoyed to hear my document was riddled with grammar mistakes. I spent hours using this software to proofread and it didn't really do what I had hoped...which is to catch grammar mistakes.

### "Accelerate your time to Edit with precision and accuracy"

May 28, 2021

5.0

In addition to customizing software for clients, we also have to write copy- this has to be professionally done based on the client's specifications, and the turnaround time can be brutal. After a few too many problems with Grammarly, we decided to trial ProWritingAid. The depth of the reports, the speed of using the software, and the integrations sold it from that point.

Pros

ProWritingAid integrates easily with our workflow and software in order to speed up the editing process and introduce diversity in the copy, pointing out weaknesses that other software misses. The report that it produces of the writing is excellent, covering areas that were not in our standards.

Cons

In our business, we have to use many custom terms and company names. You can put these into your dictionary, but it is a more manual process than it should be. We were used to being able to import lists of common terms, but there was not an obvious way to do the same, and research into this did not prove fruitful in changing that.

It is a subscription-based application that works online to check spell and plagiarism. It is best to use for the proofreader, blog poster, and content writer to attract the readers to their content.

Pros

It is a subscription-based application that works perfectly for me. It checks the plagiarism It supports both Windows and mac

Cons

It only works in online applications. Sometimes network issues may concern your proofreading

### "Is perfect and far superior to contenders"

August 24, 2022

5.0

Prowritingaid assists me with making texts that are impeccably composed without spelling botches for the composing tasks I accomplish for my clients.

Pros

I like that it assists make my composition with going over better. I'm not the most ideal author and ProWritingAid is superior to gram... in convenience and the data it gives.

Cons

Missed an excessive number of errors - It generally proposes basic things that should be amended. The AI isn't savvy enough, yet, to see it's an end and not a deficient sentence. It enables you to overlook the standard, yet will it miss a genuine mistake then?

### "Wish I had it sooner...but there are some glaring issues."

November 12, 2021

3.0

All that being said, I still feel the plugin is worth it and plan to get the lifetime subscription as soon as my trial is over. Until PRA can sort out its glaring issues above, I have a workaround where I copy the text before saving it — just in case I run into the same issue. However, I can't do anything about the quotation problem; that's on PRA.

Pros

This has improved my manuscript significantly—it works right alongside my Grammarly plugin.

Cons

Three major issues: 1: When editing a manuscript, if you make any changes at all to any dialogue, ProWritingAid thinks you don't have closing quotation marks. So, you have to delete the quotations and re-do them. Every.single.time. 2. Using ProWritingAid with Fictionary is great, unless you spend three hours editing and polishing the most important scenes in your entire book (over 2,000 words worth), and when you exit the ProWritingAid plugin, and get an error message from Fictionary saying you've been signed out because of inactivity (despite being active for three hours). All of that work — GONE. Nothing saved. This is an issue with the plugin speaking to the site. 3. When I reached out to customer support, I still have not heard back yet (over 48 hours ago).

### "The Best Writing Aid "

August 9, 2020

5.0

While I am very keen at spotting other people's writing errors, I cannot spot my own unless it is too late, I either printed a document, published a blog or sent an email. It is embarrassing having the reader focused on spelling or grammatical errors, rather than getting your point across in communication. ProWritingAid prevents these mishaps with its add-ons for essential applications like Chrome or Google Docs.

Pros

One may think a professional writer with a degree in English would not need any piece of software to help with correcting and editing documents... Which would be true, unless that writer is not an absent-minded individual like myself. And here is where ProWritingAid really comes in handy. This wonderful tool keeps my writing in check with suggestions on spelling, grammar and style. I like it not taking over my documents and changing them without my input, like a spellchecker would normally do. ProWritingAid lets me choose and be in control.

Cons

No add-ons for MS Word alternatives like WPS Office or Open Office.

### "Great Product"

July 27, 2022

5.0

I've been using this program for several years as an Add-On with Google Docs and by the second year I decided to make an Lifetime purchase. PWA has always respected the original purchase and given me updates through the years. I would recommend making the Lifetime purchase. PWA works great with Scrivener, too. I also use Grammarian.

Pros

I'm particularly happy that the program can be used within the software I use.

Cons

I have no criticism with ProWritingAid software.

### "ProWritingAid is an essential tool for serious fiction writers"

May 10, 2022

5.0

ProWritingAid is an essential writing tool for fiction writers. It instantly makes your writing better and helps improve slow pacing, sentence variety, emotion, dialogue, as well as the usual grammar/spelling, it can find find cliches, and detect plagiarism. You can even create your own customized style guide. It is very affordable and worth the money. For blogging, I still use Grammarly and have an annual subscription, as I find it better for non-fiction. Hopefully one day I will switch all of my editing to ProWritingAid and be able to cancel my Grammarly subscription. If I could only recommend one, I'd say go with ProWritingAid for fiction, or Grammarly for non-fiction writing.

Pros

I really like that they have a lifetime one-time payment option rather than only a monthly or yearly subscription such as Grammarly. It is great value for money. The software is very versatile and can be used for any type of writing, whether it is fiction, business writing, academic or even blogging and content writing. ProWritingAid also seamlessly integrates with other writing software such as Scrivener, Final Draft, and Google Docs.

Cons

The interface isn't as nice as some other software, and the passive voice tool only identifies passive voice, instead of offer suggestions for what to change. Also, with so many reports and tools to select from, it can be a bit overwhelming at times.

ProWritingAid is a tool I use every week, and sometimes every day. As a novelist, it's a blessing to have a set of tools that elevate my writing, enhance my editing abilities, and shave off multiple revisions on my part.

Pros

There are so many functions available. As a publisher, I can use the tools I need for editing or writing as needed.

Cons

There is a steeper learning curve because there are so many functions. This is not a complaint about the product. It takes some time to become proficient with all the tools.

### "A convenient and informative way to proofread a text, improving language skills."

May 26, 2021

4.0

Pros

I appreciate mostly the easy-to-use web application, enabling interactive work on the text in many aspects of your form. Thanks to the hint system, thesaurus, mini-tutorials and alternative proposals for correction in each of these aspects, I not only get a well-developed text but also benefit from improving my language skills. The software can easily integrate with popular web browsers, extending its functionality for the correction of text fields when filling out web forms.

Cons

The correction proposal sometimes does not match the context of the statement. It happens that the software does not recognize some language errors. I think the software would gain very much for usability through integration with LibreOffice. This integration would be a great help when writing scientific articles.

### "ProWritingAid for Writer "

December 13, 2021

3.0

I am averagely satisfied with this software because, on one hand, it helps to ensure grammatically correct quality writing, and on the other hand it gives too many grammar suggestions that sometimes frustrate the writer.

Pros

After using this software for almost eight months I can say it's a good choice for professional writers to maintain the quality of their writing. Particularly for academic writing, content writing, and causal writing job you can rely on this software. Its smart bots will give you relevant grammar recommendations like your high school teacher and you can choose to use your wisdom for editing. I feel it's better than Grammarly.

Cons

The software is not reliable for editing creative writing, scriptwriting, and the lines where there is maximum use of prepositions. Sometimes it gives too many suggestions and if done accordingly the writing will look very unnatural

### "Only Praise for Pro Writing Aid. "

May 19, 2021

5.0

My emails are smoother and without errors. My printed letters and business emails get quick responses because they appear to be sent by someone who knows what they are doing. I write humour. Humour works best when the writing is smart and competently executed.

Pros

I've written two novels and a collection of short stories in the past few years. They may not be great literature, but they are spelled correctly, the word usage is expansive and not repetitive, and the grammar is better than I could do on my own. PWA shines a light on bad habits and suggests alternatives. Just what I needed. It gently makes you rethink the tricky bits. Every office should be using PWA.

Cons

There are no negatives to speak of. With the desktop app, I can do very thorough edits on big chunks of text so there's really no problem. It's like having a non-scolding expert editor looking over my shoulder.

### "Not a lot of trust that it works"

February 5, 2021

2.0

I was very happy with the trial and bought the yearly subscription. The cost vs Grammarly is significantly less and appeared to work close enough to as well. After I started working in it I noticed it didn't catch nearly as much as Grammarly. It will still be helpful for emails and its not even in the league of Grammarly. Yes Grammarly is the big player but their cost is hard to swallow for my simple business email corrections.

Pros

\-Yearly Cost vs main competitor -Easy to install -Works with web browsers & Microsoft outlook -Customer support

Cons

\-Missed too many mistakes -It always suggests very simple things that need to be corrected. The AI isn't smart enough, yet, to see it's a closing and not an incomplete sentence. It gives you the ability to ignore the rule, but will it miss a true error then?

### "Must have if you are a writer"

May 20, 2020

5.0

I'm using this tool mostly when I'm writing posts for my personal blog. It helps me to do all kinds of analysis over my text and make it better. Although, it is good for every day usage, when it highlights common errors in real-time.

Pros

It has a simple to use widget that can highlight your grammatic errors in real time. Though, when you want to open a detailed view, you can do that by tapping on the widget and it will open a full-featured editor with a lot of data about your writing.

Cons

Sometimes, the widget does not work for some of the text editors on websites. Hell, it even didn't work on the website where I'm writing the review now.

This helps me to write notes that are clear and concise.

Pros

Helping with misspelled words and punctuation. The ease to use the product.

Cons

Using with Mighty Text is a pain, as the icon to open is right over the icon to add the signature in Mighty Text. I swear every time I use it there.

### "The best software for writers and authors"

December 4, 2022

5.0

Pros

There are ton of features that support all kinds of writing I need. They might be too many, but the trick is to select some features that suit for each project. I love how detailed information that ProWritingAid breakdown for their users. It’s the perfect tool for me as a writer and blogger. It’s not trying to change sentences and words into a totally different writing style that does not sound like mine, which I appreciated.

Cons

A web browser extension to check spelling and grammar is not working that well. It will be great if it can get some improvement in the future. I want to do a quick checking, but sometimes it doesn’t seem to work well.

Can't life without it. I've had PWA longer than any other program because it does the most for the best price.

Pros

It does so much for such a reasonable price. I love the reports. It makes me a better writer with all the explanations it provides. It's like having a writing tutor with me all the time.

Cons

It's wonderful that there's so many reports you can run, but it also gets a little confusing sometimes.

### "Works good in combination with Grammarly"

December 23, 2018

4.0

I'm a fiction writer and this is a great tool for finding mistakes your own eyes can't see. Having an objective grammar/cliche/structure checking tool like this is (IMHO) an essential part of the writing process before hiring a human editor.

Pros

\- The 'Style', 'Overused', 'Sticky' and 'Cliche' checkers are highly helpful - The interface is simple, although not perfect - Allows you to check things individually, or all together by using the 'Real Time' mode - One time purchase license (Lifetime) is a great option to have

Cons

\- No dark mode offered on Mac (as of 12/2018) - Still doesn't catch some things that Grammarly does (and visa-versa) - Pricey for what it does, even at the Lifetime purchase level. I think the value should be a bit closer to the $100 mark - Sometimes suggests changes that are unnecessary, or miss marks grammar as incorrect when it is, in fact, correct.
