### "Fulfill your Writing and Self-editing Dreams"

October 17, 2021

5.0

Its best feature is the editing, specially warning that passive voice needs to be changed to active voice. Sometimes it offers suggestions, and so far, despite its Americanism (I live in Australia) it has been correct every time.

Pros

ProWriting Aid Premium does all that it promises. I wasn't certain when I bought it, but after using it several times I have found that the program delivers all that it promised.

Cons

It doesn't work across all of the websites on which I have to post content.

### "Best grammar software in the industry! Grammarly can't compete!"

July 31, 2019

5.0

I'm a self-published author running a small press and I couldn't afford to be in business without the help of ProWritingAid's excellent software. I depend on it to deliver clean, readable drafts each and every time I publish a new novel.

Pros

I absolutely love the flexibility and platform support that ProWritingAid offers. No matter which platform or software you use to get your writing done, ProWritingAid supports it — and does it well! When taken feature for feature, comparatively Grammarly and other similar writing software can't compete. And did I mention the price? A lifetime subscription is worth its weight in gold for anyone who considers themselves a professional writer, no matter the medium.

Cons

There are some bugs in the software, and they vary depending on which platform you're using, but they're easy to overlook given the overall value proposition that ProWritingAid offers. I wouldn't use anything else.

Because Grammarly was so limited in how many apps and platforms it supported, in addition to how inadequate and incorrect its correction algorithms were.

### "Early Days Yet"

June 15, 2020

5.0

I'm thinking of restarting my old blog now that I've discovered this product. I'm physically handicapped, which causes lots of typos, "fat finger exercises" and proofreading and making corrections had become a major pain in the butt. I'm also on a tiny fixed income and I need to get it right the first time before a commitment to a monthly payment on anything.

Pros

I'm loving the accuracy and ease of use. I had used Grammarly prior and their product had reached the point where it was helping me less with my writing and spending more effort on trying to FORCE me to purchase (ex: I couldn't even add a word to my dictionary without subscribing first). I decided if I would shell out good money for a product of this type; I wanted to check a few more out. Glad I did. So far, PWA beats Grammarly hands down.

Cons

So far I have found nothing not to like.

### "Too tough to maneuver"

April 1, 2024

3.0

I wanted to like it but found it difficult to use. It was jumpy and hard to make changes. Half the time, I couldn't even place the cursor.

Pros

Nothing. I found it too cumbersome to work with.

Cons

It was too slow—agonizingly so. Whenever it recommended rewording a sentence or paragraph, it would take forever to load the suggested changes. It got to the point where I dreaded having to make them. I also use Grammarly, and the difference in speed is like night and day.

### "Helpful, but…"

May 31, 2023

4.0

It was useful at first to show me what I tended to do wrong and helped me learn to fix the issues. The reports are hard to understand at first and I ended up really only using about three of them. I did not renew my subscription because of how much it slowed down my ability to write quickly in the few minutes I get between other tasks, and because I felt I’d learned enough not to need it as much.

Pros

I like that they have a free version online you can use even though it’s limited. I loved that it integrates with Word, but wow does it slow it down! The report are also a bit confusing and it takes time to figure out what they mean and how to navigate everything.

Cons

How much it slowed down my computer when I had Word open after integrating it.

### "Helped with my Masters."

February 14, 2023

5.0

Pretty great and useful tool.

Pros

I was working on my master's, and this was the tool I used as my first pass at editing.

Cons

The only thing I can think of is that I would often move text around from document to document, and it would forget style suggestions I had dismissed.

### "Great tool for Proof Reading and Grammar Check"

April 22, 2022

5.0

ProWritingAid helped me to improve my writing style. It always provide suggestions and different ways to make by writing looks better.

Pros

I like that ProWritingAid has a life-time plan. For only one-time payment, you can keep it forever. The tool provides me with everything I need to make my writing better and without any errors. The MS-Word addon is very helpful as it fixes my spelling and grammar mistakes on the spot.

Cons

It is a little bit expensive, but not bad for a life-time plan.

### "Improves my image and saves embarrassment"

August 15, 2021

5.0

Makes my work clean and professional

Pros

I like that I can integrate it right into my browser, which is nice for email and blogging, and my writing software (Scrivener) for my major writing projects.

Cons

It has so much capability that there is a learning curve. But that's not really a con; is it?

### "I'm switching from the other Guys"

February 8, 2023

5.0

I'm on day 3 of my 7 day trial and I'm already preparing for a full purchase,

Pros

It offers far more insights into the suggestions than the other Guys. It's a pain in the butt BUT it doesn't let me slip buy with poor grammar.

Cons

It is more complex and it doesn't have a standalone Apple app but I'm adjusting

### "A must have"

January 15, 2020

4.0

it is allowing me to become a better writer and helping me do what i love

Pros

I am loving this software. Especially with the google docs add on. It allows me to pre-edit before I send it to beta readers. I had most of the first draft completed before a friend turned me onto the software. I decided what the heck try the free trial. I can say with certainty I will be purchasing the subscription. Not only does it help with spelling and grammar. it allows me to run reports to see if i have used the same words repeatedly it also has an amazing thesaurus these are just a few of the features i have used so far

Cons

Im only using the free software right now until I get paid so I am missing alot of the functions on the software. that is the only con i can think of at this point. I mean to me it is expensive but it is worth the money.

### "Been using if for several years"

July 12, 2020

5.0

Easy to use, takes me away from my Word processor and the mundane editors there.

Pros

What I like best is the lifetime option license - bought it and done.  I also like its online capabilities, and I also use it as a secondary backup.  I'm able to use it when I'm away from home with ease.  I enjoy (most of the time) as I'm editing my work that the process slows me down and makes me think about how I come across to my readers.

Cons

Nothing, sincerely. Nothing annoys me about the product. Let's face it, it is an editor the most that it annoys is my ego.

### "Better than Grammarly, but still lacking "

August 7, 2021

4.0

Overall quite positive, but several areas need improvement.

Pros

This is better than Grammarly if you're doing creative or fictional writing. It checks for the general rules and gives you a gauge of your writing style compared to the average author's writing style, such as sentence lengths, the use of adverbs, etc.

Cons

The rules are too rigid, many famous writers, especially children's books writers tend to use many adverbs. But for some reason this app flags adverbs as a negative. Also, it the live editing function doesn't work well. It only works best within the actual app, or when you open the tools on Google docs.

### "I love the polish to my writing that ProWritingAid brings. "

May 31, 2020

5.0

Excellent. I really enjoy using the package. The only task I haven't mastered yet is downloading and uploading my work and managing my files within ProWritingAid.

Pros

Its availability constantly. I love the gentle prompts to polish my writing and consider stronger wording. As a newsletter editor, I notice how other writers could enjoy this package too.

Cons

My biggest concern is the use (and overuse) of commas. It would be helpful to have an information box to explain why ProWritingAid suggest the use of commas, as a reminder.

### "Complicated by Necessity"

September 4, 2019

5.0

Pro Writing Aid is necessarily complicated. It's not a tool designed for casual use typing your social media status, but designed to make any serious piece of writing better. It makes excellent suggestions on how to improve the writing, but is no substitute for actually knowing your grammar. Like any piece of editing software, it doesn't get it right 100% of the time. This is a good thing, it throws it back to the writer to make the decisions. I can't imagine my writing workflow without running Pro Writing Aid over my writing to look for ways to improve it.

Pros

Pro Writing Aid puts a suite of powerful editing suggestions at your fingertips. The depth and range of suggestions it offers on a piece of writing make it essential for my writing tasks. It's incredibly powerful, taking many different angles of looking at your writing and how to improve it. A lifetime licence is just the icing on the cake!

Cons

It is complicated to use, which is necessary given what it's doing. If it functioned a little better in Word especially it would make using it a little more enjoyable. Additionally, I ran into a major issue where I had to disable the Chrome extension because it was actually injecting css code into code I was writing. Once it was in I needed to manually clean up the CSS to get it working again.

### "Excellent Product"

April 15, 2021

5.0

I am very happy with this product. It cuts the time I spend on copy editing in half. It also makes me feel confident that I haven't let typos and minor repetitive issues slip past me.

Pros

While this product is not a replacement for good editing skills, it is an exceptional tool for highlighting errors editors often overlook. Especially for book length manuscripts, this is a tool I can't live without.

Cons

This product integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Word and does an excellent job finding errors in web writing. If I could have one wish it would be an integration for Indesign.

### "GRAMMAR NINJA"

October 31, 2018

5.0

Working as a freelance writer, ProWritingAid has made my deliveries to my client(s) a great piece which has made me stand out among the crowd.

Pros

I have been a writer for almost 6years now, and this software has helped me improved so much when it comes to writing. ProWritingAid fixes tautological errors, flags wordiness, highlight tense errors, points at chronological errors, etc. Every writer needs to have this in their arsenal!

Cons

Data loss when program crashes sometimes.

### "ProWritingAid is improving my confidence and productivity"

September 2, 2022

4.0

My confidence has increased, as her my productivity, since I started using ProWritingAid. It's quite easy to use. Unfortunately, it does not integrate with my favourite word processor—TextMaker. I could not use it without internet access. My writing habit is improving because of its suggestions and associated articles. PWA does not maintain formatting, thus requiring final editing in a writing app.

Pros

Grammar and spelling check, style check, and suggestions all enhance my writing. I love the comparison to my category of writing. I find being able to focus on specific areas of writing, such as readability and passive sentences, for improvement a good way to improve my writing skills. It is easy to use with lots of tips/tutorials.

Cons

It sometimes misses tense corrections; rigid in its style suggestions—this may be my lack of experience in using it. I have been using it for only about 2 months. And it's not as portable as I would like, i.e., difficult to use with android tablets.

Good

Pros

Grammar checking. This is something I never understood when I was in school. Some of it is still baffling to me.

Cons

Right now: There is a function under clarity. Curly vs straight quotation marks, that pop up all the time—it's annoying as hell—how can I shut it off?

### "I had Grammarly so what would ProWriting Aid Do for Me?"

May 30, 2019

5.0

I highly recommend and use it daily!

Pros

I love this program! I use it every single day. The Echoes feature is amazing. I'm always shocked at how many duplicates I have in my books and resumes. I don't give a client a product or release a book without using this program!

Cons

Although I love ProWritingAid I also have to have Grammarly because each program catches different errors. It would be nice to have one program the did the work of both.
