### "Mostly great, sometimes a challenge..."

February 23, 2026

4.0

Fairly user friendly, but seems like features frequently have glitches or difficulty in determining how to go about making the edits I would like.

Pros

Used across all kinds of fields for all purposes. Most people versed on its use, comfortable with accessing.

Cons

I currently dislike the feature of opening photos as a PDF, which requires me to use my Adobe subscription to export the created PDF as a jpeg file when it started out as an image file. Can't find a setting to change it.

### "Solid PDF Reader with Limited Free Features"

June 13, 2026

5.0

Adobe Acrobat Reader offers good ease of use with a simple interface for viewing and basic editing PDFs. It provides reliable PDF document management and useful signature and signing tools for everyday tasks. However, its file conversion and advanced features are limited without a paid plan, which affects overall value for money. Customer support is helpful but mainly geared toward paid users. Overall, it works well for basic PDF needs but feels limited for advanced use.

Pros

VALUE FOR MONEY Adobe Acrobat Reader is a solid free option for basic PDF viewing and commenting, but many advanced tools (like full editing and advanced conversions) require a paid upgrade, which can feel expensive for casual users.

Cons

What I liked least about Adobe Acrobat Reader is that many of the most useful tools are locked behind a paid subscription. Features like full file conversion and advanced editing are limited in the free version, which affects overall value for money. It can also feel a bit restricted when you need more than just basic PDF viewing and signing.

### "Adobe Acrobat Reader, sometimes upgrades just add bloat"

August 15, 2026

3.0

While I was satisfied because of the fast and smooth opening of my project, about 140 pages, I didn't enjoy the chaotic feeling I got because of the many many tools and icons to chose from. Due to the high cognitive overload I lost the big picture. To me it looks like the loading of the pages etc. is substantially slower than before. The user journey is effected by those problems and this will cause a higher bounce%. The possibility to synchronise documents and reading progress when using Adobe's Cloud Storage, was a nice surprise. An useful new feature that I like. Because Adobe Acrobat Reader can feel slow and heavy, and some important usefull tools aren't present in the free version, I would choose a tool that is lighter, smoother and with less friction.

Pros

Adobe Acrobat Reader is an universal oriented program. It opens almost every PDF, big or small, across several devices, OS, and computers.

Cons

Adobe Acrobat Reader has this many (big) pop-ups/prompts and ads. Almost an agressive way to push you to upgrade to the Pro/paid version.

### "The standard for PDF’s"

May 16, 2026

5.0

Pros

Adobe Acrobat Reader is frequently updated which make it the benchmark standing for reading PDF documents, so much so that it's almost all i use for documents.

Cons

Overall is okay for reading pdf, you are unable to do more with it instead switch to Acrobat without "Reader" in title. Not free but you could do edits like filling out forms or adding you signature.

### "Adobe is the gold standard...just the best!"

August 26, 2025

5.0

I use it often for my proofreading work and enjoy how easy it is to use. It's great having a paid version where everything functions well.

Pros

It makes me feel more confident using a big name brand like Adobe. It has all the features that I need.

Cons

It is a bit of a learning curve to figure out how to work Adobe, but once I got used to it everything was working great for me.

### "Awful, clunky, obstructive, pervasive and persistent. Avoid if possible."

March 7, 2026

2.0

Frustrating, and ultimately I switched to PDF Express for the versatility, cost and utility. If I could surgically excise Adobe from my PC and Android phone completely, I would, but it's like a leech.

Pros

It's widespread and easy to access - most people and companies know it and can format products using it.

Cons

Everything else. It's pervasive so if I want to use another product, it insists on insinuating into startup. The interface is so different from Microsoft products, and so unhelpfully obstructive or limited, that I found working with it frustrating. Saving files is a pain. Why mess with something that worked (ie the MS Word-like save dialogue, that Acrobat USED to use?). Highlighting function is very glitchy. And updating to the full package Acrobat is glitchy, most functions go unused, and its no better.

Switched from

[Soda PDF](https://www.capterra.com/p/226942/SODA-PDF/)

I wouldn't have, but it was necessitated by a switch into a new laptop and compatability issues. Soda PDF (and what I use now, PDF Express) are so much more versatile and user friendly - and cheaper.

### "Acrobat and ME"

July 10, 2025

4.0

I have been using Acrobat Reader for several years and it does the job it is meant to do. Open PDF's, Sign PDF's with ease of use.

Pros

I like the app better than the web version of opening .pdf's. Free is always good. This is a good tool to have in your arsenal. The Look and feel just seem right. This app has been the universal go to App for PDF documents since I can remember.

Cons

I don't like the fact that if I have a Acrobat Pro version installed I am required to sign in to Acrobat Pro instead of just opening the Reader version.

Reason for choosing Adobe Acrobat Reader

Ease of signing contracts from an iPad is slightly better I feel.

### "Fabulous Application for Editing Documents"

February 27, 2025

5.0

Fantastic. As a daily user, I love this application. It has made my life way easier and work output stronger.

Pros

The versatility of the application while editing documents. A huge perk is the automated font match when editing 3rd party files, which saves an extreme amount of time.

Cons

I find that the application glitches, especially when you are working with multiple documents at once.

### "Greedy for your money and stripped out simple tools from Free Reader!"

May 12, 2025

3.0

Garbage, they are about one of the greediest software companies out there. They have so many other products to make money from and they chose to scale-down the free Reader, which forces you to buy or, like me, went elsewhere.

Pros

It works with most all pdf files and is free to download.

Cons

Adobe removed the majority of the simple tools that used to be in the free version. For example, I can no longer rotate a pdf, you need the pay version for that. And forget about annotation, nope, gotta pay for that too. Way too greedy for us to recommend to our customers. We send them elsewhere.

### "nice tool..."

April 13, 2026

Pros

It is the industry standard for reading PDFs, ensuring that documents look exactly the same across Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS.Users often highlight its robustness, noting that it rarely crashes even when handling large or complex files compared to basic browser-based viewers

Cons

Users frequently report that the application is "bloated," often consuming significant system memory (RAM) and causing slow loading times, even on powerful hardware.

### "Great for PDF Files"

May 7, 2026

5.0

Overall, Adobe Acrobat Reader is a dependable and easy‑to‑use tool for handling PDFs. It’s great for reading documents, filling out forms, and adding quick notes without any stress. Even though it can be a little slow at times and some features require a subscription, it still delivers a smooth, trustworthy experience that most people can count on.

Pros

Adobe Acrobat Reader is super reliable for opening and viewing PDFs without any hassle. It loads documents quickly, keeps everything looking clean and sharp, and works well across different devices. The tools for highlighting, commenting, and filling out forms make it really convenient for school, work, or everyday tasks. It’s one of those apps that just does what you need without making things complicated.

Cons

Sometimes Acrobat Reader can feel a bit heavy, especially on older devices where it takes longer to open. A few features are locked behind paid upgrades, which can be annoying when you just want to do something simple like edit text. The interface also has a lot of buttons and menus, so it can take a minute to figure out where everything is.

### "A Great Business Tool"

November 24, 2025

5.0

The way we can convert files, easily use this program, and share and upload docs with colleagues or friends makes this app so easy to work with and so nice to have to luxury of ease and simplicity with the access to do pretty much about anything within a pdf. I also found a cool fact about Adobe. They coined the termed abbreviation "PDF" back in the 90's and has now fill reign and autonomy for that term. Just pretty cool in my opinion.

Pros

I liked most how creative and invasive you can get with the documents. You can add anything you want, sort it how you want, shrink, crop, trim, even overlap with another document. In terms of a business standpoint, it is a great tool to have.

Cons

There aren't any things i can say negatively about acrobat reader, you could pretty much do anything on the document that you're editing, just be sure to save it before you exit

### "LIFESAVER=ADOBE ACROBAT READER"

February 10, 2026

5.0

I have had nothing but a great experience with Adobe reader and as I mentioned before it is a LIFESAVER when it comes to going through all the documents, medical records and everything needed on a daily workday

Pros

Adobe reader is honestly a LIFESAVER on a daily basis with having to review and go through legal documents and client paperwork. It went down a few days for us at the office, and I had a hard time functioning. That's how I know its amazing

Cons

I really have no bad or least favorite things about adobe reader. It truly is a lifesaver during work but all platforms have issues if it crashes or the account has some glitches with a company account. That's normal though and that can happen with anything!
