### "Best software of devops engineers"

January 24, 2025

5.0

I have used jenkins and I'm still using jenkins for managing pipelines and deploying services. I feel this is one of the top software that can be used by devops engineers.

Pros

Jenkins allow us to integrate it with bitbucket or github and manage our pipeline. There are a lot of other plugins which we can integrate with jenkins. Jenkins also helps in automating the process of building the image and deploying services.

Cons

For a new user, Jenkins UI might be confusing. It will take some time to understand the functionalities. And sometimes we face some issue while integrating the plugins.

### "Jenkins is a must for Devops Engineer"

September 18, 2023

5.0

It's one of the most important tools that I use every day while working as a DevOps Engineer. It has helped me in easing my job very much

Pros

We can automate and configure almost everything using jenkins, it can be used to start/stop servers, backup dbs, build and deploy codes in the environments, etc.

Cons

The complete logs may not be visible from Jenkins, but still, the main error can be seen. I can't think of any other problems in Jenkins

### "Versatile program with important features"

April 30, 2024

3.0

An experience of average satisfaction, we did not like that we had to spend extra budget to hire a new software that would bring together the capabilities that Jenkins could not contain enough for our team to feel comfortable, but on the other hand we do accept that it has improvement systems that They improved our developed software.

Pros

A program that in the team generated high expectations for generating build automation, where Jenkins can be configured to automatically execute software builds every time changes are made to the source code, this ensures that any new code integration is tested and verified instantly, making it easy to detect and fix early errors or compatibility issues.

Cons

Under support for Microservices, which in our case and given that our company Google operates at large scale, often with architectures based on microservices, Jenkins could not handle multiple projects and microservices simultaneously, not allowing independent and specific builds and deployments as required. We needed, in this sense, we had to use a program similar and added to the one we already had.

### "Incredibly flexible CI/CD"

August 8, 2022

5.0

Jenkins is one of the most known CI/CD tools on the market. It is outstandingly flexible and can be easily adapted to companies' needs without unnecessary concessions. The enormous number of plugins that allows various actions makes the usage incredibly adaptable. To tell the truth, sometimes plugins are deprecated and old, but the most important ones are quickly updated to the latest versions. Free and reasonably priced paid versions are a huge advantage on the market - it is one of the reasons for Jenkins being widely used across companies. Great customer support and documentation makes usage convenient. What is more, Jenkins has a big community that is actively participating in the project. If any problem occurs, it is probably resolved on the internet - in some forum or in the documentation. However, not everything is so great. The biggest flaw of Jenkins is its lack of intuitiveness. Because it contains a huge number of features, it may be too complex, especially for new users that do not have an experience in CI/CD. Also, the design is quite cumbersome and can look outdated. All in all, Jenkins is an amazing tool for CI/CD and I strongly recommend it to everyone who needs a flexible utility for pipelines management and monitoring.

Pros

Reasonable price/Free version Great flexibility An enormous number of available plugins Great customer service/documentation Widely supported by the community

Cons

Can be confusing The UI is not intuitive The design is cumbersome

### "Easy to understand, ease of use, and sense of the operation of automation and scripting"

March 27, 2023

4.0

As automation of script files and file execution, the feel of operation in the system is easy to understand. I started from a place I had never used, but it felt that way. In a nutshell, it is an image of the Linux Cron and Windows task scheduler. It is easy to manage problems that have been resolved, specific effects and CI/CD processing details. When the agent load increases, there is no need to respond manually; automatic escalation will distribute the load. The file (Jenkinsfile) describing the functions, points and CI/CD processing that contributed to the problem can also be managed in the Git repository as a set with the source code, so it is easy to check the processing details and modify the Jenkinsfile.

Pros

The amount of information in the search results is significant, and it is easy to operate because it is free (easy to stop in case of emergency). A Docker agent and JenkinsX are also available, so they are compatible with the latest technology. Because it can be used not only on-premises but also with Kubernetes, it is helpful because the learned technology can be used for a long time, even if the stage changes.

Cons

Since the configuration screen is displayed in a tabbed format, there are times when you cannot see what you want to edit unless you show it at the bottom of the browser screen.

### "The best free and open source option on the market to task automation"

September 5, 2022

5.0

Around 2007 my team selected it to automate the deployment process and some server maintenance processes. In that time I passed a few days around studing the real importance of the tool reading tecnical papers. We even integrated it with a chat tool so the deployment was performed through the company's chat bot triggered by anyone who had access to the user's contact monitored by jenkins. Over time I came to use it in other companies as developer operator only, most of the time the start of execution was not automatic but always integrated or with github.com or with Atlassian Bitbucket and Amazon CodeCommit. At the moment I use it as a developer and its integration is completely automated.

Pros

Jenkins provides out of the box hundreds of plugins and it is very simple to build plugins to integrat to it. You can choose a development language of your choice and build a script to do whatever you need. It's simple as that

Cons

As it have a high importance in the execution flow, it ends up having a status of superiority towards the operators that it builds as an aura, so it is common for people to feel afraid to operate it in the first moments and if the tool is not well configured with a well-defined authorities for users, it can actually pose a certain risk to the operation. But after it is well configured and after a few days of use, this aura is by passed and its use becomes utterly positive.

### "Staple in the CI/CD pipelines automation"

November 20, 2022

4.0

As typical, the solution has been used successfully for all possible deployment targets from simple make builds into compiled artifacts, through packaging of (non-compilable) artifacts into npm, gems, pypy, docker images and rpms/debs. However with the move to Kubernetes clusters in lieu of simply VMs clusters, Jenkins becomes more of a hustle to implement properly.

Pros

Easy to implement, easy to incorporate into infrastructure, great support due to years of presence and experience from developers garnered throughout the years. The UI gives options for both classic feature-full or simplified BlueOcean approaches. Extendable and working great with 3rd party's tools and solutions. Pipelines typically defined in code in Groovy/Java.

Cons

Java at its core so typical memory and disk usage issues can happen, but can be helped through containerised deployment of it.Debugging pipeline issues often means meandering throughout the code for software and pipeline alike since reported errors can often obscure true source of problems. Not exactly the best option for docker image builds without docker in docker container trickery or Jenkins on bare-metal/VM deployments

### "The best open source business process automation in the market"

May 16, 2022

4.0

Despite its one drawback Jenkins is the most suitable tool for process automation for most businesses. It requires a bit of specialised knowledge but is not so complicated as to require consultation with a specialist. The ability to set up chron jobs and the infinite flexibility in setting up jobs means that companies can use Jenkins to create the most custom-fit solution for themselves.

Pros

Jenkins has excellent process automation capabilities and extensive features supporting it. You can create pipelines and jobs to support CICD projects. You also have extensive flexibility to set up the ideal job fitting your needs. There are also integrations to the widely used version control solutions. Moreover, Jenkins can be used in other programs using groovy and other programming languages. Jenkins is also a locally deployable solution, making it suitable for preventing security threats.

Cons

The access control tools in Jenkins are inadequate for big projects with multiple levels of stakeholders. More often than not, this requires numerous instances of Jenkins running to prevent unauthorised access.

### "Most flexible CICD platform with "

April 27, 2022

4.0

I'm running multiple backup or VM configuration tasks. I like it, but I also see potential issues in the future. Because of that I will think about migrating to another solution in the future.

Pros

I like it's flexibility. You can almost do whatever you want with it.

Cons

Plugins can be outdated, also documentation should be fixed. I also hate that there is no way to configure Jenkins with Database backend (everything is kept in files). Because of that there is no way to create multiple Jenkins instances.

### "Flexible tool, easy to start but very flexible"

May 12, 2022

5.0

It was easy to start using since the user interface gives you already so many options and tools. Eventually, we reached a point where it was not sustainable to keep adding jobs manually and so we decided to migrate everything to code, which is when I discovered how truly flexible jenkins was. We used the Jenkins job DSL to scan the repositories for new branches and then used the Pipeline scripts to actually do stuff on those pipelines, ranging from building docker images to running tests.

Pros

The support for pipelines-as-code is good. The user interface is good enough where it doesn't get in the way but it lets you still do a lot of things, you don't need to code your pipelines but of course you can if you want to make your life easier. My use cases (Running maven or gradle commands, running docker containers) were well supported.

Cons

You need an in-house expert most of the time, since there are of course bugs and workarounds that only a heavy user would be able to navigate. The flexibility it gives you sometimes comes with the price of being too complex if you have simple use cases.

### "Best CICD "

Jenkins helps me to automate ton of manual tasks and saves lot of time and effort. Not just developers, it can be used as reporting tool for code analysis and functionality which will help the management. It is quite easy to setup and orchestrate pipeline.

Pros

Jenkins is easy to deploy and use. The process for onboarding the users and designing pipelines and test automations are very straight forward. It does not need any specific training and the interface is intuitive and supports various programming languages.

Cons

I cannot find any major drawback in jenkins. I personally feel the documentation that provided in the interface could be improved, so that the users doesn't need refer the documentation seperately.

Second thing Jenkins didn't take more space in your laptop because it's run completely run in website just minimum setups only have in your system and more easy to integrate. My side opinion Jenkins don't have the drawbacks it's really very well of all testers.

Pros

The main reason to like Jenkins' is online interface, which offers integrated assistance and real-time error checking, makes it simple to set up and configure. The second thing it's very easy handle and they provide lots of plugins for pipeline project automation testing. Thirdly, there is The Continuous Delivery feature makes software delivery more dependable, automated, and efficient, which promotes better cooperation, quicker software releases, and higher-quality software overall. ### "For all your CI/CD needs!"

September 5, 2023

4.0

I use Jenkins primarily to run builds for all of our repos and execute a large number of automated tests. It is incredibly useful to manage CI tasks and activity across many repos.

Pros

I've been using Jenkins for several years and find it extremely useful in solving any CI scenario from easy to very complex. With its rich library of plugins and active community, it's relatively easy to develop and debug pipelines. I like that some plugins provide embedded pages within builds for things like test reports, commit history, etc. Jenkins can also be easily integrated with a large number of external applications.

Cons

In my experience with Jenkins, I find plugin management to be the most troublesome. It is often the case, that plugins are no longer maintained, lack documentation, or break things with upgrades.

Jenkins is a solid tool that provides a great way to do project delivery and continuous integration. It might require some initial work to get things started but once you do so it saves you and your team loads of time.

Pros

Project's versions beeing automatically generated and updated in our code repository, code repository integration using authentication mechanisms and the ability to define multiple environments with different configurations.

Cons
