It has many options available and can be configured to adapt to the way YOU do things. It's performed flawlessly and gives me the peace of mind I need, knowing that I have both onsite and offsite backup for all my critical files. Pros Flawless integration with Amazon SSS and local NAS. Computer Tech Computer Software Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Review Of Syncback Pro" September 2, 2022 5.0 I have been using Syncback for over 10 years. First in a large university setting in which I was responsibility for securing data for over 50 research bases computers used in multimillion dollar research projects. In the 10 years plus I have been using the software I have not had any trouble with the software. On multiple occasion there were hard drive failures and I was able to get a new hard drive up and running and restore all data in a short amount of time. I also use Syncback on my personal video production systems I use while producing music videos. Pros Syncback Pro is a very cost effective program with all the features you will need to safely secure you data. Saving your information in the cloud or to a second hard drive on you local machine is very easy to set up. Cons I have not found any features of Syncback that I found lacking. It meets all of my backup needs. Pros Ease of configuration, baxkups and file restores. The feature set allows extensive customization if you need it. Cons There is not much I don't like about SyncBaxk Pro. The only suggestions I have for future release:For backups...if the destination folder is blank, just start copying files. Currently it reads the source folder contents before writing to an empty folder Introduce a way for SyncBack Pro to log changed files as they are changed so the analysis phase of source files doesn't take so long before starting to copy. Sr. Systems Engineer Computer & Network Security Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Swiss army knife of copy tools" September 2, 2020 5.0 Lots of file management in a Windows environment: from server to server for migrations or general sync, from desktop to USB drive, etc. Pros It's so flexible. We've used it for migrating very large file servers where we've been able to stage our initial migration then do small incrementals to get the latest versions of some files. It copies permissions which not all tools do. You can use XCOPY and a ton of other tools but this is nice because there's good integrated logging. We've used it for keeping two folders in sync, for backups, and many other file server-related activities. That it's a GUI also means we can place this in an end-user's hands and with little training they can monitor it. We can set schedules as frequent as needed. We've lately been able to use it to move from using a Windows file server as target to using SharePoint. (I see that we can use so many other cloud targets as well.) I really was surprised at how maturely it's integrated. We can connect through the Microsoft API and SyncBack handles the throttling very well. Recently someone changed the admin password for the account we were using to keep everything in sync. This broke the sync. It was a pain to modify all the 20 profiles using this cloud account but then I found from support that an updated to the profile simplified this. I'm glad we had support! Cons I'm nit-picking but a challenge has been that it uses a UI language that isn't quite Windows-native. If you double-click on a job, for example, it doesn't open up for you to modify it. Right-clicking and choosing from a large context-sensitive menu is the preferred way to interact with many elements. SyncBack has made this configurable though, so you can choose what a double-click will do. Reason for choosing SyncBackPro Logging, UI makes it easier for end-users, wizard-driven job creation. Most recently Swapna Naraharisetty responded within hours of an inquiry and provided clear, concise, and easy to follow instructions which fixed me up immediately. Support such as this gives me great peace of mind. Pros I like the feature that allows me to schedule back-ups and the ability to back up individual files, folders, or drives. I maintain archives to which I add, change, or remove items every day. At night, I can rest easy knowing everything I did that day is safe. Finally, as an old retiree on a fixed income and a loyal user, I appreciate the upgrade discount; however, for customers who've remained loyal for 5 or more years it would be greatly appreciated to receive a "loyal user" discount as well. Cons There is nothing I don't like about SyncBack; however, aesthetically, it would be nice to be able to control the color of the font in each Profile. I use background color to be able to quickly differentiate among different profile subjects, and when using a dark background color, it's difficult to read letters and numbers that are black on a dark background. I would also appreciate an easier transition on upgrading: I have so many profiles, it takes a long time to re-schedule, and when I import, I seem to get a lot of older, non-functional profiles I thought I had deleted. Pros Simple to use once the backup profiles are established. Ability to exclude specific files and directories using a mask specification (e.g., "/Obj", or "\*.deb". Ability to launch a file comparison program before backup to see what has changed! It has NEVER let me down, unlike EaseUS ToDo Bakcup which has failed me twice. Fortunately I had concurrent backup with SyncBackPro both times! Versioned backups! Cons The dialogs used to initially create a backup profile seem a little strange visually. I'm used to them, but when I first used SyncBackPro I found these simple dialogs to be actually confusing. The rest of the profile creation/modification dialogs are as expected for an application with so many important options. Great tech service, regular updates, I don't ever remember being let down. For instance, I am presently removing what might be the biggest backup app in the market from my systems. I had three back up sets stored on various forms of storage, I have all back ups 'verify' every backup and when I had a serious system failure and called these backups 'up' for restore, they all said the data was bad. And we're also using SyncBackPro to backup our archives. Pros The pro version is usefull for all task related to data management : backup, synchronize and mirroring. It can be apply on an hard drive or just on one or more directories. It's easy to setup, to schedule and to monitor. Cons I can't find how to print reports directly from the software, it's possible from the browser where the report is shown. They have a variety of versions, including a free one. If you need more features, such as backing up to OneDrive for Business, you'll need to move into a paid version. This software makes it very easy to schedule syncing or backing up to another drive (even external drives) as well as to online storage sites. People forget to do backups, so automating this is key. There is a tremendous amount of versatility in how you configure the software, for example just copying to another locations, or keeping two folders in sync. Give the free version a try to test it out. Cons Just carefully look at and review options to make sure you are making the best choice for your backup or sync. Review Source VR Verified Reviewer Senior Data Architect Information Technology and Services Used the software for: 2+ years ### "used to be my goto syncing option" November 14, 2018 5.0 After researching and testing lots of different syncing solutions, SyncBackPro was easily my favorite, had the right mix of source and destination options, backup/mirror/sync type operations, and automating was doable. I think I really only quit using it when Dropbox came out and I completely changed how and what i synced up. For work network vs local folder, FTP and remote files, SyncBack basically did everything I needed. Now i just don't bother syncing most of that, I have my local stuff backed up to Dropbox or other cloud syncing services, automatic and near real-time. If the system has it available, i'll use rsync and a cron job. I will still use SyncBack for anything that doesn't fit those use cases because it really does have all the functionality you need for either direct backups, mirroring folders between two locations, excluding some file types, pretty much anything you can think of. Pros great defaults, and ability to tweak for different kinds of syncing easy to install, didn't get in the way Cons i think i had some issues between the free and pro, they switched something between times i used it and a free feature was no longer available, so i had to upgrade to pro it was 'another' program to run, kind of clunky using windows task manager + permissions to get it to work smoothly Review Source AV Alessandro V. I'm a geek as well, but I didn't need to use the manual once to see how this all worked. I really like the way that you can group together backup profiles, and by doing that you can set the "backup time" individually / group. The other well thought out feature is the ability to backup files from one (or more) remote machine(s) to the NAS device. (I'm using a WD EXT ultra drive). So I'm able to backup my web sites from a Ubuntu server using SAMBA, nice and easily. So my setup is: Group 1 - linux backup every 15 days (that's how often I backup my websites using VirtualMin), Group2 - normal PC backup every 2 days, Single Profile using Sync and backup continuous, for the disk I have my local storage for photographs . Cons Strangely the only thing I don't like is you accidentally close the program by using the top bar "X". This could be a good place to go back in time and have a "Are You Sure" check box! :) Reason for choosing SyncBackPro Because of a massive mess that Acronis made, that made it impossible to install the upgrade that I purchased from within their own tool,to their web site upgrade page. Acronis support was no help at all, kept telling me I had ordered incorrectly. I ended up writing to their Support Manager and I was sent a very nice apology, explaining it was not me but basically "very bad support". The good news was, by Monday I had found this software. Once I have setup a backup profile I can pretty much forget about it and feel confident that all of my data is being backed up, and if I ever need to make a change to a profile it's really easy to modify the profile with the changes I need. Pros The thing I like most about SyncBackPro is that it is easy to use and it provides a variety of features that can be utilized by any user. Cons There's not really anything I dislike about SyncBackPro, it offers all of the features I need and it has a simple user interface that is easy to use. If the error log is clean (and it pops up automatically when a synchronisation is complete), my data is definitely backed up; I have never lost a single file since I've been using SyncBack, Pros SyncBack runs seamlessly and without much intrusion into my daily work process. It lets me know if there are any errors in the process of copy files from my hard drive to the share folder on our work network. I also love the fact that it does not do an entire backup every time, but only moves across changes that have been made on the source drive. Cons The software could do with a better, more modern UI that is easier to set up. The first few times I used the software I had to double check that the files I had to backup were in fact backed up because I was unsure if the settings I had used to configure the software were correct.
