Pros: ExercisePro allows me to customize programs to patient's needs. I can do it quickly and effectively. The video instruction allows me to spend more time focusing on the core activities of my business and empowers patients to complete the activities on their own.

Cons: The selection of exercises is great. However, the pure number is overwhelming. Sometimes it is difficult to find the correct exercise through a keyword search.

Overall: Increased patient satisfaction. Increase efficiency.

Good variety of exercises to choose from. Very easy to use, print and email exercises.

Pros: It's fairly easy to find the exercises you are looking for - there are several search options that allow you to find exercises without taking a lot of time. It's easy to set up protocols that you use frequently to quicken putting an exercise program together in a busy clinic. Like that exercise programs can be emailed to a client, and that they have short videos that demonstrate how the exercise should be done correctly. It also allows clients to email questions they may have concerning the exercises, and as the therapist, you are able to see if they have accessed their programs online.

Cons: The exercises could be a little better organized in order to find things a little easier at times, but otherwise I really like the program.

We use Exercise Pro Live daily for making home exercise programs for my physical therapy clinic.

Pros: I like that you can print photos and descriptions of each exercise to help the patients understand more fully. I also like the multiple languages feature.

Cons: The search function is challenging. It is not consistent between exercises (for example to find resisted shoulder external rotation you type "resist shld er" but for resisted shoulder internal rotation its "resist iso shld ir." Making the search function more consistent would be very helpful.

Pros: I like the ease of use after putting in patient information. the printing options are a great bonus as well as the video aspects. Another cool feature is client log in notifications. the system lets you know if your client has not accessed the exercises or not. it has a progression implementation that is easy and userfriendly. overriding and adding new exercises is not problematic. the program also has set protocol freatures that can be custom per patient to or changed entirely for your practice needs. setting up your own protocols is also a nice feature to have to make HEP development faster/easier and proficient for home healthcare exercises. and most importantly, it is really good for the money.

Cons: ok, not a fan how you have to input patient information before searching for exercises, I know, first world problem. also, some of the exercise pictures/ videos are incorrect body positions/mechanics. and, i cant find a contact number for customer service which is weird.

Overall: ease of use for myself and the patient. user-friendly and copesetic with needs of my practice and patient needs.

Pros: I like that this software gives good exercise ideas. There are many ways to search but at the same time that can seem complicated at times.

Cons: Some of the exercises demonstrate poor form or a form that I would not advise for my patients. I have found it more helpful to simply demonstrate the exercise and have the patient film me or film my patient performing the exercise properly. Many exercises are too high level for some of the patients that I am working with. These low level exercises may be easy for some to remember but other pts need cues for proper form for something as simple as a sit to stand.

Overall: I have been able to email my patients their exercise program when they are tech savvy enough for that kind of thing. It has been a good resource for our student health clinic, but is not as well received with a more elderly population.

Max, thank you for your feedback. While making a video for the patient can work, the other benefits of our software include pain and difficulty feedback reporting, EMR linking, the ability to print programs ( for those not so internet savvy) and to provide specific sets and reps. And EPL has all levels of exercises, even passive range of motion. Yes certain patients need cues and hopefully those patients have a caregiver to help them.

They continue to make improvements year to year which is all you can ask.

Pros: I like the email ability, video quality, adaptability, and continuous increase of videos. Filtering to find videos is nice along with the thumbnail feature now.

Cons: It would be nice to have done variations of the most common videos. There are some common wrinkles to the most common for injured people. Well people cannot do the plane movements in the videos.

Overall: Patient satisfaction and communication between the patient and PT.

Helpful once I learned how to use the protocols. I like the email feature.

Pros: Great pictures! Video Demonstrations. I like the fact you can modify the text to include additional instructions.

Cons: Educational content could be better. Body mechanics, spine management. I would the ability to add in material about Unsupported Elbow Syndrome (UES).

Overall: This software helped us integrate with new version of QEMR . Faster downloads into our files. No longer have exercises in two places. We pull everything from Exercise Pro now.

Pros: The breadth of exercises including vestibular rehabilitation and hydrotherapy. Customisation is handy as is the ability to still print out the line drawings for some patients.

Cons: The need to add videos to customise an exercise is tedious and becomes a block to doing this. Cost adds up with greater practitioners, it would be good to have a practice subscription

Overall: Better patient compliance

Pros: Continual upgrades in the material. Quick responsiveness to the searches and interface with expanded search options. You can create your own stretch and rehab exercise protocols.

Cons: Some stretch videos are not exactly the way I would demonstrate them for my patients. Some stretches are not named intuitively. You have to learn the names then it becomes easier to search.

Pros: I have liked the transition to online. It has so many great exercises and protocols. I enjoy the ability to have clients communicate via the portal and that I can update their workouts easily, also the video as well as option to have a printed sheet.

Cons: Ya know one thing I would strongly recommend is an app for this as well as the nutrition maker program. People now Realky enjoy the ease of an app and I use Ex Pro to create but then save it to MyPTHub app for clients. It would be great to streamline everything through the app.

Sometimes I find it challenging to find a specific exercise and so have to try several words before I find what I want.

Cons: Many times I get error or server down. I also like that I am able to save my patients individualized programs as new protocols so that I am able to use them for other patients with similar symptoms and conditions. My patients also enjoy being able to have their program emailed to them so that they can see each exercise performed in case they do not remember from when they were taught at their appointment.

Cons: I really have no dislikes about the program. There is infrequently updates to the program that don't jive well with my internet browser. However, these issues are rarely permanent and tend to correct in a week or two. Some of the exercises do not show the exercise correctly when printing the drawing form of the exercise.

Pros: Cloud based

Videos for patients to correctly perform the exercises at home

Wide variety of exercises

Cons: I think the previous Exercise pro had better Protocols focused on more specific pathologies

The compliance feature is not great. Patients doesn't use it. They don't want to click a link every time they do the exercises. An app that reminds them to do the exercises as well as in app selection that you have done the exercise would work much better. Squeezy from NHS has got a great exercise app for pelvic floor that reminds you to do exercises and I can also check their compliance.

For more specialist exercises like pelvic floor, there is room for improvement. Need something that better describes the exercises. I know one can edit these instructions yourself but would have been great if it was there already.

The editing of then exercises is a bit daunting. It takes time and the scrolling up and down to view all the exercises takes too much time.

Everything is a bit all over. Need a more compact quick view (like the old exercise pro)

Overall: Think the patients performed their exercises more correctly because of the video demonstrations

Pros: Videos, Pictures, and written instructions make it easy for the patient to understand the exercises. It is also easy to deliver this exercises to the patient, wether printed out or emailed.

Cons: Most exercises are very advanced and it becomes difficult to identify basic exercises to provide my patients with. It can take a long time to develop an HEP due to the amount of searching I need to do, in order to find the exercises I am searching for. Due to length of time to develop a program, I do not use the program as often as I would like.

Cons: If you are looking to show your patient a single or double knee to chest stretch, the closest thing appears to be a seated lumbar flexion stretch.

Overall: being able to better customize an exercise program

This software was very helpful and beneficial for the patients. It was easy to use and effective.

Pros: Includes exercises for a wide variety of clients, ranging from fitness professionals to rehab older adults.

Cons: Lacking some exercises and stretches most commonly used. I would like to see better variety of hamstring and quad stretch and exercises especially for older adults.

Overall: professional looking exercise program software.

Vendor Response

Abby, Thanks for your feedback. EPL currently has 50 stretches for the knee, many quite suited for an elderly patient. We are happy to help you find them if you contact us or using the rapid search method select knee and stretch and they will appear. And if for some reason the stretch you want is not there, we are happy to add it to our next video session if you send us details on the stretch you want.

Good but sometimes confusing and some of the exercises are unusual.

Pros: I like they layout of the sheet after it's all set up and the options on different print outs. I like how many different exercises there are and they they can be filtered by body part and equipment used as well as level.

Cons: Gets confusing when making a protocol. Had difficulty printing it out. Ends up disappearing. Think ease of use could be improved and look cleaner.

Overall: It's helpful when figuring out new exercises or for showing patients.

We use the program for our home exercise programs.

Pros: We like that there are videos- that makes it easier for our patients to see exactly how the program is to be done. We also appreciate that the patient is able to communicate with us through the website and it goes directly to our email.

Cons: Exercises are under different names than what we use- sometimes exercises are very difficult or impossible to find so we are forced to modify many exercises before sending them to the patient- so as to not confuse them;

Overall: Patients get an interactive HEP.

Pros: Video Quality and volume of exercises allowing for specific instructions, the ability to track compliance is great

Cons: I honestly can not think of one. Only issue I had was learning the system and creating and naming protocols - but once i got the hang of it it was simple

Pros: Web based that allows us to write rehab programs from anywhere! An adaptable program that caters to our needs!

Cons: Like that in the past we could adjust the black and white images for the date grid. If we create pictures and videos it would be nice to draw the B& W image

Pros: It's very simple to design some exercises for your patients and email them to them. In the old days you had to keep sheets of paper of different exercises around and make copies. With this software there are so many choices and the paper disappears as you tailor the exercises to the patient.

Cons: Sometimes it gets a little confusing navigating from page to page. I sometimes forget to put the patient in first and as long as you do that then click create a workout it is pretty simple.

Overall: I like the feedback from patients. The videos of watching the exercises are easy to follow and patients have made positive remarks about that.

The program has a wide variety of exercises and the option of adding your own exercises is brilliant

Pros: being able to add your own exercises to the program has been very beneficial. It allows you to be very specific with how an exercise is demonstrated

Cons: the search function: It would be helpful to be able to use more keywords to find specific exercises. often the options are too general and you can be left with too many options to search through

Overall: I no longer needed to write down/draw exercises so this is much more professional

Pros: Depth and breadth of exercises in the data base. The ability to create your own custom exercise profiles.

Cons: Hard to find exercises you thought you remembered using last week. Time to actually create a custom protocol can take more than 20 minutes.
