Their Support is fantastic and they have added fantastic features to keep up with the ever-changing IT world. Pros Very easy to use and learn. The platform packs makes it very easy to obtain/update drivers. Cons Only cons are that it was very basic to start but they are adding more and more features everyday. Review Source DL Dave L. The functions and features aren't hard to learn and I was able to implement Windows 10 to our desktops and laptops easily without too much frustration (typically user error). Overall it's a great product, especially when you have a small IT team/company and budget, but it will also scale very well with us. Cons The application packs are still a bit flimsy, meaning I could have two .exe's with the same arguments that work great in CMD prompt, but in the application pack I have to tweak the executable location or argument within SmartDeploy. After doing a handful of them, I know what to look for now but it was a little bit of a learning curve. Reason for choosing SmartDeploy Cost, ease of setup and it did what I needed it to do without other bells and whistles that I don't need now. Review Source JS Jeremy S. This software allows me to customize my install packages for each type of PC I am deploying to an end user. The Driver package integration is excellent. Very well done. Pros Customer Service is super helpful. The software itself is excellently integrated to allow you to install and deploy as you would like to any PC you would like. Cons Not really about the software, but, that I had not found this software sooner. Review Source David D. Love the software. Pros I like the fact that I can build a customized image and be able to deploy it to what ever make and model pc we need to. We have various models of dell pcs and laptops and an image was tested on multiple pcs and worked with no issue. I'm also glad of the fact of being able to deploy an image through multiple ways such as thumb drive over the network or pxe connection which is all a great way to deploy with limited interaction. Cons The time that the software takes to create an image is long especially when you are applying multiple driver packs to an image. Review Source Curtis H. We can turn a fresh machine around in under 30 minutes now that we have started using SmartDeploy. What's more, SmartDeploy as a company supports its software. They release updates regularly, new features, and the training they do provide is excellent. Pros I love the use of platform packs to potentially deploy only one image to every make model and manufacturer in our lineup! It makes the process a snap and so easy for a tech to deploy without fumbling through a catalog of images and causing trouble. Cons SmartDeploy could use a little help in the documentation department. Their software is not difficult to use by any means, but sometimes they include a feature that could be better explained. Pros Smart Deploy has a clean interface and easy to use step by step process. No more capturing multiple images for different models of PC....Only need 1 golden image and just pick a driver package. I really like the cloud storage integration. Cons Not much I don't like about it...I'm sure I could nit pick something, but the engineers at Smart Deploy are always trying to reach further and make improvements. The videos easily answer questions so I dont have to hunt down how to do something. Pros Platform Packs make life to much easier. New hardware? No problem. February 4, 2020 4.0 We are moving away from using Ghost in our school system, and Smart Deploy has helped us simplify this process. Pros This product has simplified our imaging process by allowing us to move away from Ghost. Cons Keeping track of licensing is a little difficult at this point, however the team is listening and responded promptly to my concerns and is working on ways to simplify. Reason for choosing SmartDeploy Configuration manager is a very complex solution and Smart Deploy has a simplified interface and is very intuitive to use. Before we used several products including Symantec and Microsoft's solutions, however they seemed very difficult to get configured. Smart Deploy walks you through very simple steps and with the addition of the platform packs, it saves our desktop team the time it would take to also load drivers on our systems. Also, the fact that the imaging process auto syspreps each new system has been a game changer! (configuring sysprep with our previous solutions was often a very difficult and daunting task) Imaging that used to take us almost an entire day now only takes an hour. I am overall very happy with this product. Pros I like how easy this software is to use. Cons I did run into a few problems where some of the driver packs caused blue screens on some of our units. January 23, 2019 5.0 Pros I love the fact that I can create one virtual machine image that is device agnostic and then apply platform packs that contain all of the drivers for any machine I have. I also love that the licenses are perpetual. SmartDeploy has some more really need feature coming down the line that I am excited to start using such as the ability to deploy 3rd-party applications. Cons I honestly have not found anything that I do not like about SmartDeploy. This may be because I came from a Novell environment that used Zenworks for imaging but I think SmartDeploy holds it's own weight against any competitor. Review Source JY Jason Y. I downloaded the trial software and deployed my first image about 4 hours later. Cons I'm having a small issue that I am working with their developer team to resolve. The software didn't support the naming convention of my domain. They are working to modify their software to work with my company's domain. I was told the functionality would be included in the next software update. Do not take this as a negative comment because this is no fault of SmartDeploy that my company named the domain in an unconventional manner. We had a group of 250 specialized, outside the domain computers that were migrating to a new OS version and SmartDeploy made this migration super easy. Before SmartDeploy, we used to maintain six computer images and we can't be happier to maintain only one now. Introducing new hardware into the mix is no longer an issue - just build your driver pack (or download prebuilt one) and start deploying! Pros Ease of use; great time saver for your image maintenance and deployments. Cons When SmartDeploy installation computer is sitting behind a proxy - it might have difficulties connecting to the internet to verify itself and get new updates. Review Source NJ Nick J. July 1, 2019 5.0 We went from taking almost a full day to get a new PC out to one of our branches to imaging computers for an entire branch in just a few hours! SmartDeploy got our image onto our drives in 10 minutes! I was blown away by the speed of this program and how easy it was to use it. We trained our entire IT department how to use it in just minutes. Can't imagine doing this upgrade project without SmartDeploy. Pros It is so easy to use once you get it configured. Cons We had one small issue with the driver for our new PC's not having the PXE driver in the package we downloaded, however this was resolved by SmartDeloy in minutes after reaching out to them for help. Systems Administrator Construction Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Simple and Powerful Imaging Tools" February 19, 2019 5.0 SmartDeploy has cut several steps off our deployment process, helping to standardize our workflow and reduce the errors we were seeing in rolling out new machines. We're also deploying machines much faster as it takes fewer visits to websites for downloading drivers and software. Pros The product saves steps by joining a machine to a domain during the deployment process. SmartDeploy also gives several options for naming a machine during the deployment process. Driver management is simple. SmartDeploy keeps driver bundles for most industry standard workstation, so there's no need to check with every vendor. Cons The install was a little cumbersome. Turned out deployments into a stress free time of the year which compared to how things were done previously was night and day. Would recommend. Pros Given instructions (Video and Documentation) very clear and straight forward. Support for WDS integration Built in Agent and Console made deployment a breeze. Rapid deployment time using both Unicast or Multicast Speedy response from support (Time zone allowing) Frequent Updates Easy managment of drivers Cons Once deployment packages are created for the agent they automatically change to Unattended deployment. Would like to see an option to keep them attended. Sometimes Driver packs would require rebuilding due to version change, not that it took very long to rebuild. Review Source eB ed B.
