### "Great software for large and very robust projects, does take more time than XD"

February 19, 2021

5.0

I like it but I'm moving my team away from using it. We are going to figure out a solution to the symbols issue in XD as overall, XD is a lot quicker to use and to build responsive on. I like sketch but it's just so 'clunky' and in an agency speed and time is important.

Pros

I like the use of symbols. This is crucial to being able to send out successfully to development and makes development time shorter. I like that there are multiple pages that can be used. Really useful for building out different versions, keeping organised.

Cons

Although the symbols are one of the biggest pluses, they are also one of the core issues. They are 'clunky' and make it difficult to iterate quickly. In some ways, components in XD are better than Sketch (asides from there not being a separate page for them, and no ability to build an atomic structure) as they are more flexible. Often I will need to create 8 versions of the same card to accommodate for different instances (sold out, new, reduced, email me, description, no description, 3 lines of text, 2 lines of text etc...) which is very time consuming. XD allows you to do this well. Creating a symbol also no longer sends to symbol page as default which is annoying. Images are one of the biggest bug bares. Images should be locked to scale with frame non locked, like in XD. This makes building responsive a lot quicker. Also just being able to drop in images rather than having to build components with different images as 5 layers down is a massive time hog. File size is an issue. Very laggy and causes my Mac to crash often.

### "Secure platform for designers."

November 23, 2025

5.0

Good. Still used in banks, cybersecurity and government related fields. Has had a bit of a come back recently.

Pros

Easy to use, very secure with solid version control. Definitely better if you are working in a secure environment.

Cons

Can get a bit bloated after a while. Collaboration tools rely on 3rd party plugins. Not as ubiquitous.

### "A streamlined tool for UX/UI designers. "

May 29, 2025

3.0

Pros

Sketch is a good product design tool to work on visuals and prototypes. Sketch’s minimalistic interface keeps distractions to a minimum, allowing you to focus on your design work.

Cons

Unfortunately with the rise of Figma, many companies have switched design tool providers as collaboration is easier.

### "Sketch, a complete design platform built for spectacular creations."

April 16, 2023

5.0

Sketch is a mature and very stable tool. It has simple administration facilities to create a collaborative workspace, and its learning curve is low. Its design tools encourage creativity and it has a set of templates that simplify the work to start a new project. In general, it focuses on strengthening the tools for a neat design and providing extensive types of styles, good color management, and a development interface that manages the history of actions very well.

Pros

Sketch has proven to be a very lightweight and easy-to-use program for designers, and we don't need a lot of processing power to run it. On the other hand, its simplicity of use and its ability to be widely interactive, anyone with design knowledge can use Sketch. Additionally, it can be our main platform when we talk about web design, mobile user interface creation, icon design and organizational branding, and almost anything we need. The layout of the tool and its functionalities are mainly focused on offering the best features to present the best web design and prototyping work. Sketch provides us with grids and an interface to keep our work very well structured, as well as options to customize the main screen based on our needs.

Cons

Sketch has a large number of users who have selected it for prototyping, design, and branding. However, its market is aimed at Mac users, so it is possible that some users cannot take advantage of this technology. On the other hand, Sketch can be used to the maximum by designers who specialize in the area of layout, prototyping, and branding, but for users who do not have experience in these areas, its adoption is a little more difficult.

### "Pioneer in UI/UX design tool especially for non-designers or UX designers."

November 4, 2021

4.0

Easy to use, quick to learn, and whether you are a designer or a developer you can get your designs done in Sketch. Sharing your designs and especially its inspect features helps to deal with developer needs. I have mostly used it for app designs and sharing assets to clients and developers.

Pros

I used to design UI/UX in Adobe Photoshop and illustrator and it has all the features you need but it's too overwhelming and not ideal for quick Ui design. Using sketch feels much more polished and has only tools that you'll need for UI/UX design and not other unnecessary tools. It's much more simplified and quick to learn. No wonder Sketch is getting popular in UI/UX design community and its wide acceptance in the industry.

Cons

\- Not for Windows users, that was really a bummer from the start. I can't say it's a con but the sketch is not a tool for vector illustrations and photo editing. Sometimes when you need to edit the images that you are using in your design or illustration, you can't in Sktch. But you need to understand that it's not the purpose. Sketch is for just basic UI/UX or graphic design tools. Another thing is maybe it was great to have some more features like has in Figma and how it has whole third party plugin supports etc. But as I said nothing major or a deal-breaker.

Switched from

[Adobe Photoshop](https://www.capterra.com/p/229092/Adobe-Photoshop/)

Photoshop is not the ideal tool for UI/UX design it's a beast of a tool but for advanced stuff like photo editing and manipulation etc. I need a simple and quick tool that was specially designed to fulfill the needs of UI/UX designers and Sketch was the only big name back then.

### "Prototyping service first used"

April 10, 2023

4.0

I use it to create wireframe design compositions. The excellent compatibility with cloud-sharing tools of Sketch is highlighted because it facilitates communication with engineers. It's also nice that there is a significant synergistic effect with other tools. It automatically generates CSS. We recommend Sketch if you want to keep costs down. I created a simulation of the service and shared an image before implementation.

Pros

Before the introduction, I was doing web design and application design (wire, mock) with other software, but after the release of Sketch, I changed completely. Compared to others, the cost of introduction can be reduced. Anyway, the operation is light and works smoothly.

Cons

People who are used to other programs will get stuck with shortcuts. There are many pretty excellent add-ons, but the administration is complicated

Reason for choosing Sketch

Simple shapes can be created faster than other tools, and you can use the symbol function and different tool sets to advance your design more efficiently.

Switched from

[AutoCAD](https://www.capterra.com/p/265024/AutoCAD/)

The introduction cost is low compared to other tools, so I believe it is relatively easy for first-time users.

### "Accessible, user friendly yet powerful software "

October 8, 2020

4.0

— Powerful yet simple and intuitive software indispensable in my work day as a digital designer.

Pros

— User-friendly and accessible to designers and non-designers. — User guide is comprehensive and digestible. — Version history ("Revert to.. Browse all versions") gives the option to browse, copy, move, and revert to past document versions which has proven to be a huge lifesaver on several occasions. To my knowledge, no other similar programs offer this feature. — Tools you need daily for layout design, none of the ones you don't (no clutter, smoother performance). — Easily sync to Sketch Cloud in two clicks. — Shortcuts are intuitive (R for rectangle, O for oval– unlike competitors ie Adobe: M for rectangle, L for oval) — User Interface is clean and intuitive, easy to navigate and customizable without being overwhelming. — Compatible with outside scripts: spell check, AfterEffects bridge, Palette Library, etc. — $99 one-time payment is fairly accessible, with updates optional.

Cons

— Color management can be pretty abysmal at times. We've run into issues with clients due to colors not matching on export. — Sketch Cloud does not allow comments like competitors do (InVision). This feature is useful when reviewing with clients, internal QA, internal reviews, etc. — Find and replace is not available for text. — Bitmap editing is available but lowers the image quality significantly

Switched from

Illustrator offers too many features for illustration that get in the way of simple layout design workflow.

### "It's a good design software, especially if you start small"

February 17, 2024

4.0

It's still a great design software with flexibility and ease of use. If you want a cheap, commercial licence, go for it. A lot of integration and compatibility :) Worth the money for sure!

Pros

It is still possible to edit SVG files; it's super helpful and still not supported in Figma. It's a cheap licence if you start with a design.

Cons

Definitely lost the first seat to Figma. Cooperation online, direct changes, no fuss just design is something that is still hard to work on in Sketch. It simply doesn't work in the big companies anymore

### "A tiny bit pricey"

November 23, 2024

5.0

I use it for everything – web design, mobile apps, icons, you name it. Before Sketch, I was juggling a bunch of different programs, and it was a real headache. This is way more streamlined and intuitive.

Pros

Absolutely love how easy it is to create and edit vector graphics. The interface is clean and uncluttered, which makes it a joy to use. And the plugins are a lifesaver! They add so much extra functionality.

Cons

Honestly, can't think of anything major. Maybe a tiny bit pricey, but it's worth every penny for the time it saves me.

### "One of the best UI design tools in the market"

March 27, 2021

5.0

Being a UX and visual designer, Sketch has been the primary software on my computer for years now. Loved the product since its initial release and had been an advocate and a supporter mainly due to how it disrupted the UI design software field. I would like Sketch to improve to keep up with their competition since many designers are now moving to Figma just like how everyone moved from Photoshop and Illustrator to Sketch. Still would recommend any designer to go for Sketch.

Pros

Sketch was the revolutionary software that introduced UI/UX and visual designers with a tool created for that specific task which is creating interfaces. The vector graphic software doesn't limit you there; you are able to create posters, logos or even billboards with its intuitive and easy to learn clean interfaces. The toolbars consist of the standard functions and operators which you usually find in such software. The power of Sketch is beyond the limitations of your own imagination I would say. The symbols feature allows you to create reusable visual components which come in handy when designing multiple interfaces of a product or an app. Going a bit further, these features allow designers to create design languages and design systems very easily as well. There are hundreds of plugins that could be used to further ease the workflow. Sketch also integrates with other tools like Invision (prototyping) and Abstract (version control) which allows the creation of an ecosystem for the designer.

Cons

Sketch in recent years has got multiple competitors like AdobeXD and Figma which sometimes make Sketch fall behind the race in terms of features and functionality. Learning from the failures of Sketch, the competitor products always try to provide better value for money while optimising the workflows for the designer. Major updates from Sketch at most instances lately have been extremely buggy which sometimes even took weeks for them to release a patch. Sketch is only available on Mac which also limits the cross-platform support, unlike its competition. If you are designing a product that has multiple artboards (50+), Sketch tends to become laggy and resource-consuming even on the latest i7 Mac with 16GB of RAM.

### "Sketch from a Person who is not techie"

February 1, 2023

5.0

The problems solved by using Sketch are the ability to quickly and easily create user interfaces for mobile and web applications. Sketch provides tools for creating vector graphics, typography, and icons, and provides features like art boards, grids, and rulers for precise layout. Sketch also allows you to collaborate with other designers and developers, and to share and export your designs in a range of formats. The benefits of using Sketch include the ability to create high-quality user interfaces quickly and easily, as well as the ability to collaborate with other designers and developers. Sketch also allows for easy export of designs in a range of formats, making it easy to share and integrate with other applications. Sketch also offers a range of tutorials and resources to help users learn the product, making it easier for new users to get up to speed.

Pros

\-Sketch is an intuitive tool that offers a wide range of features for quick and efficient design work.-It offers a wide range of plugins and integrations, making it easy to customize the design experience for specific projects.-Sketch is easy to learn and use, even for those who are not familiar with design software.-It has a variety of export options, making it easy to share designs with others.

Cons

\-The pricing structure can be somewhat confusing and expensive for some users.-The vector drawing tools can be somewhat limited compared to other design software.-Sketch does not offer a web-based version, which can be inconvenient for those who need to work on the go.Pricing Comparison to other services:-Sketch is generally more expensive than other design software and services, particularly when compared to free or open-source options.-Paid plans for Sketch are more expensive than Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, but offer more features and tools.-Other design software, such as Figma and InVision, offer more affordable pricing plans.

### "Graphic design oriented to the digital world"

May 13, 2022

4.0

Following this logic of order and registration, we create an additional file called "Style" in which we describe all the elements and their possible variations. With this document it is easier for developers to take separate elements and assemble the site. It also helps to maintain consistency in the work of the different members and avoids problems caused by interpretations.

Pros

A great point in favor, was that we use this program from the information architecture, so the compatibility is ideal, the best thing in web design is that it has an automatic grid system that is very easy to handle. The two previous functions facilitate unexpected changes and corrections, since when changing an element is automatically updated throughout the site. The files are very light, they can be exported in PDF, PNG and JPG, even at twice the size, since when working with vectors, there is no danger of pixelation of the elements. Multiple artboards can be used in different sections. This allows you to develop all the templates of a device in one section and thus have your pages divided according to format. Shape elements, such as a rectangle, are used with the same logic as CSS, so when moving to front you can easily copy the styling.

Cons

It exists only for OS X Mac, which means that all the equipment I work with must use this operating system. It is not good for image editing. It has some basic tools, but to define a style you have to use another editing program first. It is not possible to go back one step when modifying a style, you have to go back to the latest version, so it is necessary to constantly save the changes.

### "Sketch used for creating user interfaces,"

May 12, 2023

4.0

Overall, Sketch offers collaborative features that facilitate teamwork and feedback. Designers can share their designs with stakeholders, receive comments and annotations, and collaboratively rework designs. This has allowed us to streamline the design review and feedback process.

Pros

Sketch offers a wide range of design tools and features to create visually appealing, pixel-perfect designs. It includes features such as symbols, tables, layer styles and a powerful inspection panel, making it effective for designing complex user interfaces.

Cons

Limited platform compatibility: Sketch is currently only available for macOS, which means it is not accessible for designers using other operating systems such as Windows or Linux.

### "A full-featured but simplified prototyping tool"

January 13, 2020

5.0

I absolutely love Sketch as prototyping software - the cons are honestly very easy to overlook because of its overall ease of use. At my company, we use Sketch in addition to other design software to meet our needs - Sketch serves as one (very useful) tool in the design process. It certainly isn't a solution for every design need but it meets ours very well - when we need to throw together a UI for either a demo or for an ideation session, Sketch is our go-to.

Pros

Sketch is easy to get up and running with - even without previous prototyping experience (such as with Adobe Illustrator to build components or using Adobe XD for building interactions), a few hours with Sketch is enough to get familiarized with the software. The inclusion of symbols in Sketch is a huge pro - coming from Illustrator, I was already aware of their application and advantages. That knowledge crossed over easily for Sketch and allowed our team to prototype web and mobile designs quickly and efficiently. Another huge plus is the community surrounding Sketch - their own documentation and a strong community means it's easy to get answers to questions you may have about tooling.

Cons

In building out vector graphics, I still prefer Illustrator. Sketch is limited in the number of features that it has, and I've found that many people turn to third party plugins to make Sketch work for them. That can lead to headaches (additional documentation to learn, maintenance of that third party plugin, getting help quickly for those plugins, etc). Another issue is that Sketch doesn't have support for collaboration. They have a beta version of "Sketch Teams" that will likely be moving into production in the near-future. As it stands, the closest we can get to making Sketch work for teams is Symbols, Libraries and Shared-Styles.

### "I've moved on to bigger better things"

April 25, 2019

4.0

Sketch used to be the leader. It's just not anymore. Use Figma instead.

Pros

Sketch was such a game changer when it first launched. It destroyed Adobe in the UI/UX space but now there are so many players I don't think it's the best option. Sketch is a great tool for web and mobile design. Unlike Adobe products they simplified everything and just gave you the tools you needed to do your job. But like I said I think there are better options now.

Cons

The problem with sketch is it's still a desktop application that produces individual design files on your local machine. This may seem like a small thing but it's a huge problem when you're working witha team and trying to keep versions of your design files in sync. We now use Figma and it's all web based, version controled, and easily shared and viewd by anyone. Think of it this way, Sketch is like saving a word doc on your computer that has to be shared with 10 other people for their edits. Figma is like using google docs where all 10 people can be working on the same doc at the same time and see each other's edits. It's a game changer. So between Figma (my favorite), Adobe XD, Principle, Origami, Invision Studio, and other options, I just don't think Sketch is as good as it once was. (ps... use Figma. It's the best)

### "The ultimate tool for UI and UX Designer"

September 8, 2018

5.0

Awesome tool for designers, Evolving with each release.

Pros

I loved how it's centered to user interface design. We used to use photoshop to design User Interface, though Photoshop is a very robust tool but the features are not UI Design centric, It is capable of doing a lot of things hence UI is not the focus here for Adobe. I love sketch because it is capable of doing one thing and does smartly. Though they have almost all of the basic features required for interface design, Plugins are icing on the cake. If you don't find anything you want the tool to do, 99% chances are you will find a plugin which does.

Cons

The subscription model and backward non-compatibility. You need to renew the subscription annually in order to receive an upgrade and that's okey or how the company will make money. What I don't like is you can't open Newer version of the file in Older version. If you work in a team and 6 people are working on one file, everyone needs to use the same version of the software.

### "SKETCH Helped us to make our design process productive"

August 31, 2021

5.0

We recently got into web and app design industry and with help of sketch our quality of designs improved and it helped us to get more projects and with help of sketch we can get our team members to collaborate on a single design and it worked out really well and we are happy using sketch and definitely recommend if you have better spec device

Pros

the best features of sketch is we can create vector artwork and then import it to make digital devices prototypes , we can scale up the projects and collaborate with our team members using sketch, it is an industry standard tool which is used to create professional designs for digital devices, like web or mobile design. it has all the features that is required for a design tool. we can add multiple plugins and it can handle bigger projects easily.

Cons

there is not much of drawback using sketch but it is a bit costly for business and also the files created a larger than expectations so it tends to slow down the device sometimes apart from that it does its job very well.

### "The best tool for designin interfaces"

November 13, 2018

5.0

The best case of use is when creating a whole user experience and interface, the constant update from the Sketch App team solving problems that shorten time doing multiple actions, being non destructive and acting more as a prototyping tool, helps us to create and iterate more design solutions in less time.

Pros

The best feature Sketch has is the ability for developers to create plugins that help in dedicated actions, such as generate real info like map locations, rename layers and symbols at the same time, populate symbols with real data, etc. That's a GAME CHANGER app, the best part is that the whole platform is non destructive so any alteration you make for some symbol, it changes across the whole project, more powerful if you use the libraries across files. Very powerful and simple interface.

Cons

Sketch alone as a design tool is ok, but you need to know that it needs the boost of the plugins, these plugins are independent from the Sketch app team for they are developed open source, some plugins may not work on each update, and some are discontinued, so you cannot relate that the experience will be always smooth.

### "A platform for designing Creative Artwork"

August 7, 2020

4.0

It provides many useful tools for testing, creating and designing vector-based graphics, prototype, illustrations and many more. It helps in scaling your content automatically and fit it with its various responsive components. It helps in designing live data, animations etc through its integrated tools and various plugins. It allows users to share and export their designs, creative artworks, ideas with other professionals or developers.

Pros

It helps in designing digital artwork. As it is a vector-based editor, it helps you in resizing your art or images in any size and any dimension without affecting pixels and sharpness of your artworks. It is supportable for MacOs and can be used on the Mac operating system. It helps to design prototypes, icons, logos, app icon design, illustrations, vector-based graphics and many more. It helps in designing Ad banners, illustrations, social media images and various presentations.

Cons

If you are working with team members and your team members do not have the same version of the software you may face difficulties. Skilled persons, professionals or experts are required to learn its complex set of features whereas multiple tutorials and videos are provided to learn sketch. It is also difficult to update its plugins. Its collaboration tools also need some improvements.

Pros

Sketch works seamlessly, no matter what. I think performance is one of the best aspects about Sketch. Unlike other design tools I've used in the past, Sketch performs well even when I've got multiple software running or I'm designing a lot of screens. Additionally, the UI for sketch makes the learning curve quite minimal. It references a lot of software I've used in the past but it places all tools available up front, vs hiding it on menus.

Cons

Windows version. It would allow me to work on both PC and Mac's. I don't always have my Macbook available, however Sketch is currently not available for PC's. PC integration would be great and allow me to work from multiple devices.

### "Ideal design tool for app end web developers. Great value for money."

July 25, 2018

5.0

My team succeeded in designing better websites and user interfaces. Using it's symbols we now pursue design engineering as we do with CSS and other technologies. Are design deliverables now are more DRY (Dont Repeat Yourself) and easy to maintain.

Pros

It's really easy to use, even for a newbie designer or a non-designer person. It could be considered for designing and developing web assets and applications UI, from modest to large projects. We had to choose a design tool for websites and web-applications and choose Sketch because of it's price tag (it was cheaper than Adobe suite).

Cons

It is not available for Microsoft Windows users and that's an issue if you want to share project files with developers that use this OS. Another feature that could be overly improved is native SVG support. If you try to export your designs in SVG, which is the golden standard for modern web, be prepared to face some issues. Recent updates fixed some issues with SVG, but Sketch SVG support is still sub-standard.

### "Great overall but still lacking some key things"

November 4, 2019

5.0

I don’t think I’ll switch to a different product anytime soon, but there are competitors in the industry that are nipping at the heels of Sketch.

Pros

Sketch is specifically created for creating graphical user interface designs, and I love that it’s optimized for that use case.

Cons

There are a lot of things that you still have to go to a plug in to do. Sketch has done a good job of wrapping a lot of these things into the native app, but there are still key things that could be improved: find and replace, layer management, creating and editing paths, responsive/adaptive interface management.

Better optimized for UI design.
