### "I LOVE sketch!"

March 11, 2019

5.0

Pros

I use Sketch for app and website prototypes as a UX Designer. It is so simple and easy to use. I love that I am able to import library and add plugins. Another great thing is that there are endless resources and templates online to help with mocking up websites! The software runs smooth and the interface is much friendlier than other design tools I've used.

Cons

The only thing I dislike is the "Prototyping" feature to link pages/buttons together is a bit glitchy and does not always work.

Switched from

[Adobe Photoshop](https://www.capterra.com/p/229092/Adobe-Photoshop/)

Perché ha fondato i suoi principi sulla progettazione di interfacce piuttosto che sull’editing di immagini

### "The software that revolutionized design programs, especially for web and digital design."

July 10, 2018

5.0

Pros

This is the software that broke the expensive design software model monopolized by Adobe over the years. It's streamlined, lightweight, open to plugins that enable anything you could want, and has a dedicated small team that is responsive and up to date. Tools are simple and intuitive, and have so much flexibility.

Cons

Some of the recent add-ons for prototyping and animation could be improved, and the cloud capabilities are a little cumbersome at the moment. These are minor elements though, very little not to like here!

### "Great for Wireframing UI Updates to Our Applications"

April 28, 2020

4.0

Great tool for collaboration, conceptualizing and wireframing. We will continue to use Sketch for the coming years I'm sure.

Pros

Relatively easy to use, makes colaborration a breeze. Sketch has cut down on our UI arguments (aka meetings) by probably 50% or more! Our designer can quickly mock up some concept versioning, share with the team beforehand, and we just discuss final details for a few minutes savings hours of meeting time!

Cons

A little bit of a learning curve for the team, but we quickly adapted to the software. Early on we hit a few snags such as importing and configuring our own fonts, but we figured out you needed to import to your Mac, then set to become available for all apps on the Mac.

### "More Than Adobe"

June 15, 2021

5.0

Overall, I have had a very cool experience. I love that you can use other plug ins to get more done and collaborate with outsiders to get a view of your design as if it were live on the website!

Pros

I love that the Sketch software offers so many cool features - most importantly the ability to use type Libraries and symbols. You can modify a font size or symbol in one place it have it update across all of your documents!

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve! And one other thing is that there are a TON of sketch app updates. That can make it a bit frustrating when you have to constantly update your app.

### "Pricey but works really well."

May 6, 2023

5.0

Pros

I use this program intermittently to help with logo work and things like setting up a business card or other high quality, but not too complex graphics...also things like product labels. I think if you are Mac-brained and used to Keynote, you will find this program very simple to use.

Cons

It's $99/year, but that's cheaper than adobe and my Mac brain struggles with Adobe.

Alternatives considered

[Adobe Illustrator](https://www.capterra.com/p/227125/Adobe-Illustrator/)

Reason for choosing Sketch

compatible with Mac and my brain

### "Good App Designing Software"

April 8, 2020

5.0

Superb , user friendly , easy to use even the software is not bugy its run really smooth . i have design many application with less time also Prototyping help me lot.

Pros

I am using sketch from last 1.5 years for designing APP layout, this software have lots of handy future which every designer and developer want. we can create shapes very easily also even we can add svg code of shape so its really handy . Prototyping in Sketch is super easy they provide tutorial of there official site.

Cons

Only problem is this software work on mac os only if they release this for windows then it will very good for them regarding sale and marketing many less people using mac so they must think about to release for windows.

### "Overwhelming with possibilities"

September 3, 2019

5.0

Sketch makes creating a website an easy process between designer and web builder; it cuts the time of making a final product in half.

Pros

There is a lot to explore in this program, which is great. Sketch makes "sketching out" a website or mockup easy—even for the unexperienced in web designers. It's a productive tool in mocking up a site to be sent to a web builder because they can take components used in Sketch—such as heading elements, sizes of photos, etc.—and use them in the actual build. Unlike if you design a site in photoshop, the web builder has to design from scratch without being able to take the Sketch file pieces, which are already made, into the web design phase.

Cons

There is a lot to explore in this program, which can be intimidating. The business I work for purchased the Connection Arrows plug-in which I'm still learning how to efficiently use, but it's a great addition.

### "Great to use if everyone has MACs. "

February 7, 2022

4.0

Pros

It’s great for managing large workflows. It has a good set off tools for vector graphics and there is a huge amount of plugins to choose from. It does great for visual design and mobile wireframing. The interface is easy to use and if everyone has a MAC then it’s good for collaboration.

Cons

It gets slow sometimes and every now and then I have trouble importing vector graphics. You have to pay for Sketch when there are free applications that you can use instead. If anyone in your group has a windows machine, then they won’t be able to use this because it’s MAC only. It doesn’t have real time collaboration which is tough when everyone works from home.

### "Best tool for UI/UX design"

January 22, 2019

5.0

Pros

I got introduced to Sketch a little over 2 years ago, and it has been my helper over the last couple of years. I particularly like the basic and easy setup and you can learn to use the software quickly. Also it's not as pricey as Photoshop, while still delivering most functionality for myself. I also like the export options within the tool for retina (and higher) screens.

Cons

It sometimes crashes/is unstable. For each and every update I would wait and check Twitter is it doesn't have any noticeable flaws.

### "Very Good"

March 10, 2020

5.0

This is a great tool to learn coding with fun and need not to have knowledge about the programming language.

Pros

I have used this software for about 1.5 years and this had made the coding easy and fun. It is all drag and drop you can play with it and have fun for hours.

Cons

Nothing in these 1.5 years have i not liked about this software's feature.

### "Sketch is Good Stuff"

November 23, 2020

4.0

Pros

Sketch is extremely intuitive - even for first- time users. There are a lot of bells and whistles, but honestly, you don't always need them all. It's one of the more firstborn UX and UI apps out there, allowing a fairly good range of design capabilities within the the app itself. Prototyping and sharing are easy. And, the cost is way cheaper than Adobe ($99 flat vs. $52.99/mo). It's kind of like if Adobe XD and Photoshop had a baby. It's more robust than XD but not quite as equipped as Photoshop. You can definitely tell all of the design features (i.e., crisp alignment snapping) were made with UX in mind.

Cons

It would be nice to have even more image editing capabilites within the app. I know it's meant more for UX, but additional design capabilities wouldn't just make it a Photoshop alternative - it could become an Illustrator alternative, too. It would literally be an all-in-one design, workflow and prototype beast.

### "UI/UX prototyping"

December 14, 2019

4.0

Sketch is definitely the number one choice for whole design team for UI/UX projects.

Pros

I really like that Sketch is constantly improved and you can expect updates almost every week. This is really important if you want to keep on with another industry-standard software. Plus lots of useful plugins for free.

Cons

As a motion designer, I definitely can say sketch is not good at all for prototyping, hopefully, this going to be improved with future updates. But you can easily export all files to After effects just with few clicks.

### "Suprisingly Effective, Surprisingly Affordable"

June 26, 2020

5.0

Making daily webpages with lots of specific and interactive graphics would be very difficult to code up without a hybrid visual/CSS-based design program. Sketch combines the two and makes it so easy!

Pros

Being able to spit out the CSS code and text based on visual design of a webpage and framework is a fantastic in-between capability for both designers, web administrators, and developers.

Cons

I really wish that when plugging animations into this software for a webpage that is being designed it would show the animations I'm moving and tweaking within their player box.

Reason for choosing Sketch

Photoshop does a good job of "showing" the webpage in question, but still forces the web developers to simply guess where and how things should look.

### "Simple and powerful"

February 25, 2021

5.0

Sketch has all the features a vector graphics software must have, but beyond that, the highlight is its own user interface and the simplicity associated with it. It can easily be picked up by beginners and also manipulated by more professional users, who will find that it is fast, feature-rich and powerful. It was the standard software used by the design team at my former workspace, and occasionally developers like me.

Pros

Sketch has everything you need to design vector graphics; consider it a more stripped down (and streamlined) version of Adobe Illustrator, without support for print media. It is perfect for and used primarily to develop designs of user interfaces for the web / mobile. Aside from design tools, it also includes prototyping and collaboration tools. Also great is the integration with Zeplin, which is a workplace for finished designs (handoff to developers).

Cons

Sketch's main strength is its simplicity. This can sometimes be a problem when you need more complex behaviour provided only by big suites like Adobe Illustrator. Adobe XD is also getting increasingly better and competes directly with Sketch (on domain).

### "Mighty boost for your creativity"

August 20, 2021

5.0

Sketch has significantly boosted my ability to imagine how things should look like and allowed me to become not horrible at visual design.

Pros

Extremely intuitive, yet very powerful and feature-rich Sometimes it feels like it reads your mind and does exactly what you want, before you even realize it Rich plugin ecosystem

Cons

Lacks basic image editing tools - often need to use apps like Photoshop to do simple changes before using the image Only works on Mac, so I can't collaborate on designs with Windows users

Switched from

[Balsamiq](https://www.capterra.com/p/145723/Balsamiq-Mockups/)

Balsamiq is supposed to be a quick way to do a basic, crude sketch of a view, but Sketch, in practice, allows to create a finished design as quickly if not quicker. As soon as I tried Sketch, I knew that I should switch.

### "Useful UI Design tool"

March 19, 2020

5.0

Overall I’ve found it super useful in my career. I think any UX designer should learn the basics of how to use it in case they’re ever in an organization that is already integrated to Sketch.

Pros

Sketch makes it easier to build and maintain a design system. It’s built with components in mind and allows for easy collaboration with designers and developers thanks to Sketch Cloud.

Cons

I do wish it had more robust prototyping features, like animation, similar to those present in Adobe XD. I also wish it would allow selection of similar items without the need for a separate plugin.

### "The Standard for Designing Screens"

September 9, 2019

4.0

We use this quite a bit to design web, mobile, and desktop experiences. If it's a screen, we design it with Sketch.

Pros

Simplicity and domain specificity. This software was designed and built to enable product, ui, and ux designers to do their work quickly and efficiently—without any of the feature bloat and nonsense you get from those other guys.

Cons

Desktop based makes the workflow challenging when working with a remote team. You have to purchase several other solution (like Zepelin or Invision) to fill in the gaps.

### "Sketch: A Really Great Software Design Tool"

April 3, 2021

5.0

Pros

I really like Sketch's user interface as it is very intuitive to learn and it has a very low learning curve. This is because it is modelled after Apple's applications like pages and numbers. There are many fantastic things about Sketch and one of them is the extensive collaboration features. For example, you can upload your prototype to Sketch Cloud and send a URL to the recipient and this allows them to view, download and edit the prototype. They can even leave quick comments around the prototype. You are also able to create libraries for a team to collaborate in and it is very easy to do so. Overall, Sketch is an amazing design tool and has had many years to mature into a powerful competitor to Adobe XD and Figma

Cons

One of the disadvantages of Sketch is that it is Mac only and cannot be used on Windows computers. Another thing that is a bit annoying the the price of Sketch. It costs 99 USD each year but this is only for one Mac computer, meaning you will have to purchase more licenses for multiple computers.
