### "Awesomeness"

May 14, 2019

5.0

Sketch has been a pleasure to learn and to work with and my clients love the projects we have prototyped together.

Pros

Obviously the cost for such a powerful, yet lightweight program, helps make this an easy choice. I am using the trial but plan to spend the $$ soon to get the newest released version.

Cons

Not as powerful as Photoshop and illustrator but really, it’s not a drawback at all, really. With the ability to prototype quickly, it stands out from all the other graphics programs out there.

### "Great for team collaboration "

September 17, 2019

5.0

The benefits out weigh the con 100%. It is a highly recommended software

Pros

It is easy to use for even a novice designer. The ability to share design pieces among the team is amazing for collaboration efforts.

Cons

There are a ton of graphic designers that know how to use the software. This makes transitioning team members inefficient.

### "One of the best software for mobile application design"

September 26, 2019

5.0

Easy to use after a small period of accommodation. Using it in a small team developing an iOS application.

Pros

It’s one of the easiest software to use for mobile application design. You can easily export the design for any mobile platform.

Cons

It would be nice to make the learning curve a bit easier by putting the major functionality in front.

### "Easy to learn Vector Illustrator"

July 29, 2020

4.0

Overall, as I prefer vector vs raster art, I love Sketch. It's so straight forward to use and I can just really work efficiently with it.

Pros

Sketch is great if you're a mac user and you want to work on a vector-based project. The interface is very easy to understand and is just overall simple to learn to use most of the functions you will regularly use. I also like how you can use Illustrator assets in it.

Cons

Sketch can be laggy when dealing with certain big or complex file types. It's also annoying how frequently it has to update.

### "Almost anything I need for UI design"

April 29, 2019

4.0

Pros

It's full of features, the shortcuts, and the guides and distances while I move objects are really helpful and save me so much time. I do like the way of managing images in the symbols and the possibility to just copy and paste them in every "apperance" setting I need.

Cons

The way it manages symbols is unhandy, setting up symbols and components for a project requires a lot of mnemonic effort because there's no way I can recall by heart all the categories and symbols I already created, it would be really appreciated a system that lets me choose between the categories I already created or create a new one. Another thing is the fact that is impossible to work in teams over the same sketch file. We have to send to each other files or set up a git repository, it's really inconvenient and I think this is where you lose the most of your users.

### "Sketch"

April 30, 2019

5.0

The UI reminds me of GameMaker and Photoshop, it has a nice layout, dark theme, and everything is right there for you. Very easy to play around with it, but hard to master. I usually use this for GUI design and Banners for my games and website. Its very simple to share things with my team as well.

Pros

Features are the number one pro, the amount of stuff this software can do is beyond anything I have used in the past.

Cons

Not the easiest thing to use, it a very complex software, with the amount of features it will take practice before your are able to use it with ease.

### "Fast and user-friendly "

August 15, 2020

5.0

Great software for UX/UI designing. Integrates well with well know services for prototyping.

Pros

Sketch uses macOS component in its ui therefore it's fast and familiar. Also I like wast support for keyboard shortcuts.

Cons

Sometimes I need to open different pages within one documents in different windows but I can't do that right now.

### "Not the best tool in the market"

July 24, 2019

3.0

Didn't like at all. I found myself lost. The shortcuts and ways to do things are not intuitive

Pros

The fact that allows plugins. There are some nice plugins that help you to achieve some stuff that the tool itself doesn't

Cons

The user experience is terrible. Also the prototyping feature is poor.

### "Handy graphics editor tot nu Mac"

April 25, 2018

4.0

Pros

Sketch is very easy and intuitive. It makes easy but time intensive jobs faster, which makes you work more efficient. Is also has a lot of plugins

Cons

The software has a lot of bugs. Sometimes simple shortcuts or copy pasting doesn't work. It's still better than photoshop or whatever for us, but its buggy.

### "Awesome, couldn't ask for more!"

November 18, 2019

5.0

The benefit of using this software is that my business team can make astonishing designs to use on our social media platforms, website and more with an eye to detail without any hard work.

Pros

Everything about this software will stand out from the crowd when comparing it to other similar softwares! It's extremely easy to use and has tons of functionalities!

Cons

It bugs a little bit, but i think that no one will care about it if you know how much time developers need to develop such a beautiful program!

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Sketch

### "Sketch provided an easy way to show off a new app design concept"

January 3, 2019

5.0

Really positive experience overall. Would not hesitate to recommend it to my colleagues and associates.

Pros

I was introduced to Sketch by a graphic designer, who suggested it would be an efficient way to bring my "back of napkin" design files to life. Sketch was more than up to the task, and the ability to easily sync those design files to my iOS device was an added bonus

Cons

It took a bit of familiarity to become accustomed to vector files, but that's more of a skill-set issue on my part than any responsibility of Sketch

### "I used sketch daily to create UI mockups."

August 2, 2018

5.0

Sketch is an easy lightweight tool for creating design mockups at a great price point.

Pros

I like how lightweight and easy this tool is to use compared to Adobe products. The value is exceptional when compared to how expensive it's competitors are.

Cons

It would be useful if some of the drawing tools were more robust, having some features to control or edit rasterized images would be useful also.

### "Sketch changed the way I prototype and design products, making it sooooo much easier!"

April 17, 2018

4.0

Sketch changed the way I prototype and design products, making it sooooo much easier!

Pros

This product was designed for software UX design and makes it so easy to quickly produce quality designs.

Cons

Sketch has tried hard to support many different plugins, but I wish they would just build them directly in the product.

### "A competent Mac alternative"

February 6, 2020

3.0

Sketch worked in a pinch, when I was stuck on an operating system I don't prefer. I don't know if I'd necessarily recommend it as an 'all the time' software, but for my purposes it got the job done.

Pros

When I need to do graphic design, the Mac OS is definitely not my go to. But i've been in a couple situations now where I've been forced to work on one. Windows has a plethora of design program alternatives, but Mac always felt a bit more limited. Sketch is a good option if you can't go the Adobe route. It's relatively easy to wrap your head around, and will have most of the features that you're looking for to create graphics.

Cons

The biggest and most glaring hole in this software is the lack of print design features. There are work arounds you can do by passing files through other pieces of software, but if you're making something for print it's best to look elsewhere.

### "Collaboration and sharing is the right words"

July 23, 2019

5.0

It does the job and I'm happy with the software. It's pretty easy to use even though it can be hard to find some things from time to time.

Pros

We use Sketch for UX and we have a collaboration between Development and Design. We can create everything from symbols to integrate 3rd party plugins. We use it together with other software and it works like a dream. Another thing is the amazing support and the great community. Licensing works fine and the floating licensing works fine. It's the go to tool for wireframing and much more. Worth the buck.

Cons

I can use a lot of time on finding fonts and updating plugins. It's limited to Mac computers which is a shame. We do have a couple of users who prefers windows.

### "Great vector software for the money"

December 6, 2019

4.0

Before working at the University of Notre Dame, I used Sketch because it was inexpensive and allowed me to create beautiful vector mockups for my freelance clients, but once I changed jobs, I found myself gravitating back to Illustrator and Photoshop. Sketch is great if you are trying to keep budget in mind and you have a Mac computer.

Pros

Sketch is one of those programs that shows up and gets a lot of attention because it looks good and costs way less than it's competitors. That is what makes Sketch so attractive. It's only $99 a year instead of the $50 a month for Adobe Illustrator and it has a very intuitive UI which makes it quick to pick up.

Cons

The negative about Sketch is that it was never built for complex vector designs. I find it very useful for creating web mockups, but not so good at complex illustrating. I also find the export features to be lacking.

### "App prototyping can be done in a matter of minutes."

May 5, 2018

5.0

The price is very pocket friendly, for only $99 you secure a license.

Pros

Sketch has an intuitive interface and enables users to start working directly with very minimal training.

Cons

Sketch may be great for designing mobile app interfaces and web pages but it is not optimized for logo design and customization.

### "Sketch is Easy to Learn!"

January 2, 2020

5.0

Great experience overall. Rarely any complications or crashing.

Pros

I come from a graphic/ print designer background, so using this product when doing UX/UI work was fairly simple. When pairing it with Invision, it takes some time getting use to the exporting/pairing process, but easy none the less

Cons

There’s nothing that I have encountered, so far, that makes this software difficult but I know it was a strong learning curve for my coworkers who do not come from a design (any design) background.

### "Great for quick mockups"

September 12, 2018

5.0

I love Sketch, and after the initial 30-day free trial, purchased it. I use it for almost every new project I start, and would totally recommend other web designers use it.

Pros

It’s very easy to use. Asa designer, I’ve used lots of tools. This is fairly barebones, which is great. You don’t have to learn anything new or complicated, and so you can bang out projects fast and easily.

Cons

The stripped-down nature which makes it easy to use, also means it has a limited functionality.

### "The Most Powerful , light, quick, and user-friendly  design tool."

March 30, 2021

4.0

For many years, our organization has used Sketch to create web layouts. It's a useful tool for creating and preparing art files for distribution to developers. If you're comfortable with Adobe and other modelling software, it's also fairly simple to learn.

Pros

Sketch renders graphics quickly and has an endless amount of space, allowing for the creation of an endless number of templates. It enables you to build sketches easily, particularly if you have a design framework in place. Since it's so quick and simple to make shapes, it's ideal for wireframes. It has a large number of community-made plugins. It comes with a variety of screen layouts and re-usable symbols.

Cons

Sketch has minimal animation assistance, and logo creation is not feasible. It's only compatible with Mac OS . It can be difficult to penetrate down into individual layers.

### "Great UI design software"

June 11, 2018

4.0

Easy, fast and cheap.

Pros

Sketch is a good design tool for UI and for UX. It does have lots of plugins to customize your software. It links easily to Invision to update your prototypes.

Cons

Not a great tool to work with raster images, so you still need other softwares to work with pictures, but does a good job for vector images.

### "Great design tools with some unique features"

August 26, 2018

4.0

This application has become standard use in our business for rapid prototyping of (web) designs.

Pros

Performance of this application is great, even on less than stellar hardware. It has a ton of design templates and it is easy to add more or add an external plugin. The prototyping tool that allows you to link images together works great during business meetings. The ability to copy/paste with or without styles/spacing/colors etc. is a great feature sorely missed in some alternatives.

Cons

Alot of the good plugins are created by the community. It might be better to automatically integrate some of these in the main product, to ease the initial use.

### "Still a great product "

June 9, 2022

5.0

Pros

Moved over to Sketch from another big name in the same space years ago and although I don't use Sketch as frequent these days I do still use it from time to time as it's very easy to use and is also good for vector/illustration/icon work.

Cons

The external mirroring app which is used to view real-time designs on a phone isn't as great and usually freezes/crashes so I have to close and restart the app, as well as Sketch itself. Also it can be a little cumbersome having to export screens for prototyping.

Switched from

[Adobe Photoshop](https://www.capterra.com/p/229092/Adobe-Photoshop/)

Far easier to use for app design work.

### "Amazing Design Tool that is Simple Yet Powerful"

November 20, 2018

5.0

Pros

Sketch does not have an intimidating user interface like its other competitors. It offers ease of use but with a ton of powerful features and add-ons. I rarely come across an app that does so much and is still being improved on at a tremendous pace.

Cons

It's really difficult to find a con for this software. Because of the add-ons and its ever-growing community. It offers a variety of tools and library that makes the drawback of the original app disappear over time.
