### "Sketch - Prototyping made easy."

May 11, 2023

5.0

Sketch is a really powerful app that can utilized in many different ways. This is pro software and it has the features for it. I find it most useful when making mockup designs and then prototyping.

Pros

I enjoy Sketch's use of artboards to be able to design on 1 single canvas. With Sketch I can easily create U.I prototypes for different screen sizes. The batch export function saves a lot of time when I need to export in multiple sizes and formats.

Cons

Sketch will definitely take you some time to get used to. The layout can be confusing at first. I don't like that there is no webapp or android app so where and when I work is limited to my Mac.

### "Perfect for App Designers Or Quick Photo Edits"

February 27, 2020

5.0

Editing photos for works and creating app icons for my personal projects, Sketch provides quick work of them both. Could not ask for a better vector program.

Pros

While not produced by Apple, this is a piece of software that you could see Apple designing if they went for a vector editing piece of software. Sketch is transparent in its most used tools, all which perform excellently. Whether you're creating an icon for a website or an app, or simply editing an imported photo, Sketch is incredibly easy to understand and manipulate at will.

Cons

At its core, Sketch provides all the basic tools necessary to be a Photoshop-competitor, it is meant for more of a digital partnership. There are no print-medium settings, so you're stuck creating digital files for digital realms. In addition, you pay for yearly updates as free updates are not part of the initial cost.

### "The best tool for UI/UX Designers. Period."

April 17, 2018

5.0

What I like most is for sure the simplicity. Imagine if they removed everything you don't use in photoshop and added the remaining features in a cleaner UI. Great for mocking up user interfaces. With the new implementation of shared libraries, it's simple to keep all of your assets up to date. This type of feature was requested by users and was incorporated after some testing. This type of thing happens all the time as Sketch constantly pushes new versions of their app.

Pros

\- Ease of Use. It's just amazingly easy to learn. - Lightweight. - The new library feature makes it great for developing a shareable design system. - Pretty affordable and simple licensing system. - Plugins make life a lot easier.

Cons

\- Lack of photo editing qualities. - Can't create dynamic prototypes with angled phones and different effects, I had to use Photoshop and import it to Sketch. - Would love a Cloud Based Plugin Sync for people using multiple computers.

### "The best tool for digital design"

July 21, 2019

4.0

Sketch is an excellent tool that keeps improving with every new update. It has become our main UX/UI tool due to its speed and versatility.

Pros

Having switched from creating all of our digital design work in Photoshop a couple of years ago to using Sketch as our only tool for UX/UI design, we've never looked back. Sketch is a powerful yet streamlined (and fast) product for digital design of any kind (app design, websites, interfaces). It improves collaboration between design and development teams and seamlessly integrates with other tools such as Invision for design presentations.

Cons

A few bugs here and there that are usually quickly resolved by the product team with constant updates.

### "Great software option to consider when working with vector files!"

July 7, 2022

5.0

I have used Sketch mostly for vector graphic work and it has been great. You have to spend some time learning how to work on it, but at the end of the day, it is worth it, because of the options that it gives You.

Pros

The sketch is one of the simplest vector illustration editors that anyone could hope to find especially if they are new to this kind of software. It has a clean User Interface and the key shortcuts are the simplest I have ever seen and used. And the cost is very affordable if You compare it with the options that this software gives You.

Cons

The biggest con for me is that it is only suitable for MAC. At this time I work most of my time in WIN, so when I need Sketch I have to open my MAC. Also, the collaboration option could be smoother to save time when in the project is more than one person.

### "Sketch is still a sompetitive program for web design"

April 20, 2021

4.0

Sketch is still a great product that is used throughout the industry and should be considered when picking the right software for your company. I do wish that they would update the ability to prototype without having to use InVision or another third-party platform.

Pros

When I first started using Sketch it was a great alternative to designing sites in Photoshop. It was faster, cheaper, more streamlined, and built to design for the web compared to photoshop. It made designing for the digital world fun again.

Cons

To get all of the features you need to design and prototype a modern website you have to buy and use additional software like InVision. When you compare this to Adobe XD or Figma, where the prototyping is built-in, the cost can add up.

### "Makes Me Feel Like a Real Designer"

September 25, 2018

5.0

I'm not a designer, but Sketch makes it super easy and simple for me to layout and design websites. Without Sketch, web design would be a complete and total nightmare. I tried Photoshop and other design apps for website design, but I spent more time learning the apps then designing. Sketch got me going fast and helped me learn what I needed to so I could get better at designing faster.

Pros

\- Symbols save so much time and make it easier to place objects in my designs - I'm able to add FontAwesome icons as a font and use them throughout my designs - I can set up templates to help me design faster - Exporting is a breeze and gives me all the options I need for PNG and SVG files - Can continue using the software without updates even if I stop paying the yearly subscription fee -

Cons

\- Feature set is expanding all the time so I feel like I need to keep studying to learn how to use the software - Difficult to find the Pages you need on large projects. Wish there was a way to group pages together - New objects are placed on top in the layers list..I'd rather they went at the bottom - Limited image manipulation

### "Easy to learn and very customizable"

August 16, 2018

5.0

I have been using the software for 3 years and have enjoyed watching its integration possibilities expand. For most everyday design tasks I have replaced the Adobe suite with Sketch app for it's precision and intuitive nature.

Pros

Sketch app has very intuitive and easy to learn keyboard shortcuts that made it very easy to learn and get started on. It combines functionalities of Adobe Illustrator and and Photoshop to make digital design very fast and easy.

Cons

Unfortunately, it is only available on Mac... This limits who can use it, but it's price and quality outshine this downside since I am a dedicated Mac user. It's vector graphic functionalities are a little squirrely, but it imports vectors easily from other platforms.

### "Its on of the best tool for UI/UX designers."

March 7, 2019

3.0

The reason why people are switching to sketch from other software is that unlike Adobe illustrator, Sketch is designed by designer for desgner for digital interfaces specifically. The UI and tools are designed in way that they are easier to use while the plugins help users to go into the detail of a particular action.

Pros

One of the main reason why people choose sketch over other similar software is its plugins. Plugins link Autolayout, Magic mirror and Git sketch makes your life easier. It can be easily connected to Invision for easy prototyping and presentation. It is also extremely easy to learn sketch if you are trying to switch from Adobe illustrator or photoshop.

Cons

I find that Sketch is almost perfect while there are a couple of things that can be improved like the software is only available on Mac OS and not on windows which makes it difficult to share editable files with some clients and freelancers. Unlike Figma, sketch which doesnt allow to access your file from anywhere and also doesnt allow multiple people to work on a same file.

### "A nice tool to design apps & websites"

January 7, 2022

3.0

I'm using it as a frontend developer, so when i open the document it's already created by a designer. I use the sketch document to get the visual aspect of the app/website, exports visual elements etc.

Pros

i like how it is possible to manage content & design. It's easy to re-use components / graphical elements in the document and between documents.

Cons

It's not always easy to export elements from a document (icons / components) as a frontend developer when the designer added many effects on it.

Switched from

[Adobe Photoshop](https://www.capterra.com/p/229092/Adobe-Photoshop/)

It's faster and easier to design app/websites and export elements from it for the integration part.

### "Almost perfect"

October 31, 2019

5.0

I use Sketch hours every day, for everything from a quick wireframe or user journey map though app design spanning hundreds of artboards per document. It does everything I need.

Pros

Sketch is built exclusively for building UI. So extra feature you don't need and almost everything you do. The tools are intuitive and feature the functions you need. Some recent updates that improve symbols and shared libraries make it even better.

Cons

Integration with some plug ins is inconsistent. Craft has many problems. And the divide between design and prototyping, or whether to keep everything in Sketch or sync with Invision is a tough one. What makes Sketch good is it's singular focus on design - adding animations and prototyping could take it down the same road others have and been a disappointment.

### "Sketch is a life-changer for UI/UX design"

March 19, 2019

5.0

Overall, Sketch is a great piece of software for any designer - it's inexpensive, but has a lot of great features.

Pros

I love the simplicity of Sketch. The interface is distraction free and the shortcuts save a lot of time. Sketch is definitely more intuitive to use for UI/UX design than other popular design softwares, mostly due to how easy it is to create/arrange artboards and the prototyping features.

Cons

Sometimes, I do experience lagging issues with Sketch, so if anything could be implemented to improve the speed that would be a bonus. It would also be great if Sketch could include live collaboration features, allowing multiple users to work on one file at any time.

### "Best in Class for Designers"

July 16, 2019

Very happy with this tool, we migrated from Adobe CC

Pros

Part of our job is design some user interface elements for our clients, and Sketch is an essential tool for this job. It provides pixel precise interface, a lot of tools to customize the design and create something really unique, and when you export, the design is crisp. It allows export in multiple formats. Get it, worth every nickel

Cons

I can't say anything negative about it, it does everything we need.

### "Sketch is my number one go to tool for vector drawing."

September 26, 2022

5.0

I've found Sketch to be an incredibly powerful design tool. It's helped me to rapidly prototype and iterate on design ideas. The app is also very stable and easy to use. Overall, I'm extremely happy with my experience using Sketch.

Pros

I like the simplicity of Sketch. It is a great tool for quickly creating simple vector designs. It is also an easy-to-use tool that integrates well with other tools like Invision. It also has a ton of features that allow for a lot of creativity.

Cons

I find Sketch a little bit more complicated to use than other available tools such as Adobe illustrator. It also lacks some of the features and tools that Illustrator has.

### "Best design software handsdowns!"

June 8, 2018

5.0

Pros

Sketch is awesome, the plugin integration, the features, the upgrades, its perfect for designing UX and UI solutions. Couldn't recommend this software more. Its a complete package and with regular updates, it keeps getting better and better.

Cons

Version control could be improved and symbol structuring with prototyping capabilities. When me and someone else is working on the same file, it becomes really difficult when we start to merge our work as it creates duplicate symbols and messes up the files. A way to clean up your symbol library and organize files much better would be awesome.

### "My go-to digital design software"

March 18, 2019

5.0

Just great

Pros

Sketch changed the way I think of digital design software. This is a design platform that's really been developed with digital products in mind, from websites to apps. It is a game changer. The introduction of symbols that one can re-use throughout the design, the ability to easily maintain styles synced on all the pages and artboards, and the ability to see your designs live on your phone are some of the main reasons why I use it everyday.

Cons

Some versions have been crashing a bit, but the developers are really quick at delivering new updated versions to address the issues.

### "Redefined App UI Design"

September 5, 2018

5.0

Pros

Sketch really started a revolution in app and web UI design, building a domain-specific tool for these purposes, unlike the more general tools offered elsewhere. Even as the software has developed and new features have been added, the usability has remained solid, to the point where business stakeholders with no design/tech background have been known to jump in and prototype their ideas.

Cons

Sketch Cloud, while great in theory, just isn't coming together as quickly as I'd like to see. Everything basically works, but the web version feels slow on all but the fastest connections (due to not preloading the next screen when flipping through screens), and display consistency across platforms isn't great (eg transparency displayed as white on some platforms, black on others). It also appears there's no way to hide certain screens from Sketch Cloud, or to hide all symbols – the latter being a pretty commonly requested feature.

### "Powerful tool for designing interfaces while being productive"

May 30, 2018

5.0

Sketch is a tool designed to boost designer productivity when creating interfaces. It supports scalable products really well by having a set of powerful tools to design and iterate. Definitely a must have in your design toolbox.

Pros

Sketch is a powerhouse for productivity in interface design. It's symbols, overrides and plugin system really make design scalable and easy to iterate. Also, it has a variety of integrations with other common design tools (InVision, Zeplin, Atomic and more) which is also a plus to connect your design workflow.

Cons

It is a little difficult in the beginning to get the hand of it, but after that everything is faster to do! Also, it has some initial prototyping tool which helps with basic needs (so don't depend on it for more advanced interactive prototypes).

### "Sketch is a pioneer in the UI design tool market. Definitely a game changer."

April 8, 2018

5.0

It helped streamline my design workflow into one where I could more efficiently work with my other design colleagues and also helped me develop faster workflows.

Pros

I love the ease of use, it is easy to hop on board especially if you are already familiar with past Adobe products such as Photoshop or Illustrator. Sketch is also lightweight and will definitely help with your performance on bigger projects.

Cons

Certain updates do break some of your compatibility with your 3rd party plug-ins. There are recurring bugs that happen at times where 1 update it is solved but the next update it resurfaces again.

### "Sketch is a great design tool that fit all kind of projects."

February 25, 2018

Pros

Sketch has been our go to design tool for years now. I'm using this everyday for user interface like: - Landing Pages - Mobile Application - Web Application We also use this tool to make logos, and other small stuffs. What I love the most is the ability to add plugins that improve/automate some small task and give us the opportunity to be more efficient.

Cons

Sketch is a great tool but has a lots of bugs. Most of the time it's okay because it is fixed quickly by there team. There is a lot of new versions, but not that much of new useful features.

### "My main tool of choice when to create user interfaces"

January 15, 2019

4.0

Pros

I like that it looks simple yet it is a powerful tool. I can create user interfaces, wireframes, site maps, user flows with a few clicks, etc. Even a complete design system can be created using Symbols. Also, there is a huge and dedicated community supporting the product and creating countless plugins. If you are thinkin about becoming a digital designer, I could not recommend Sketch highly enough.

Cons

Sometimes - more and more rarely though- you will run into small annoying bugs. Working with 30, 40+ screens can cause the software to be slow a bit.

### "Reliable, inexpensive, powerful, easy to learn"

July 20, 2021

4.0

Blows XD out of the water, but not quite as collaborative as Figma. For that reason, and its lack of complete prototyping capabilities, it is still not the best in its class.

Pros

Sketch was the first UX design tool I really started to use. I was able to pick it up very quickly. It offers lots of great tools out of the box (such as the ability to cut paths, something lacking in XD). It's fast, mostly quite reliable, and constantly being updated.

Cons

It lags a bit in prototyping capability compared with Figma. You must rely on an external (paid) plugin to handle anything animated or complex.
