We are able to pretty much use it as our entire ERP. Impressive. Pros What I like most about Shopify Plus is that it truly delivers the full value of every dollar you spend, provided you make the best use of it. Cons Shopify is built with Ruby on Rails, which then has it's own templating language called Liquid. If you don't like coding, this may not be for you. The customer support hasnt been needed often, but when it has been used, the employees have been very helpful. We will continue using Shopify plus for the foreseeable future. Pros I like the ability to customize the most about shopify plus. As a growing business with complex needs, customization has been important. I also like the customer supper and ability to access beta programs. Cons 100 Variant limit is the worst thing about shopify plus. Though, as I understand it, that limit is about to be removed. COO Apparel & Fashion Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "They overpriced, oversold, and under-delivered on Plus for SMBs " June 20, 2025 1.0 Pros The ability to customize checkout and enjoy lower CC processing fees, as well as other basic features they gate-keep behind plus Cons They fraudulently represented the features and benefits included including priority support and merchant success teams that literally do not exist beyond "growth manager" sales reps reaching out to up-sell you on taking loans or buying other services. Furthermore after we cancelled Plus, they kept billing us for one of its features (POS PRO) that transitioned into a separate active subscription that we never authorized or used, charging us $5k+ over a year that they refuse to refund. There were some features that we really loved but a lot of the features we wanted, we still needed to purchase apps for. We wish there was more support throughout the entire time we were with Plus. Pros I enjoyed having the checkout liquid to customize the checkout process. I also enjoyed having access to the launch pad app. Cons The price for us wasn't worth it. It's incredibly expensive and i think it's more useful for B2B business. We have a hard time using the full value of the platform. Cons Not much to put here, sometimes shopify will update how or where something is shown on the page. Without notice of the change it can cause a little bit of confusion if you are not able to locate the change or adjustment it can be frustrating but nothing that has caused us too much admin to solve. Cons One thing I do believe Shopify has a big room for improvement is the way to visualize reports, specially showing a way to visualize how different collections perform and within one collection which product is selling the best and the worst. If you find it's more than you need, you can check out the other cheaper and free options. Pros Free demo is good to get a taste of what it's about, and it sold me right away. I've used shopify before on personal, small projects, but this gives you tools to manage a much larger revenue stream and be confident in it. The platform is super easy to use if you have even a small amount of experience with eCommerce sites and operating them. You can get up and started very quickly, post new items very quickly, it's great! Cons Some issues with shipping customization that I had to find a workaround for, by updating pricing instead of shipping dimensions since you cant do that. Cons It's hard to say a bad thing about this software. If I had to come up with anything, it would be that I'd like to see a better search function if products don't have item numbers. Ours don't, so when we enter the name of the product and the size, sometimes we're not sure if we're getting an accurate picture of how many pieces have been sold, or are left in stock, etc. Bu the problem is a small one compared to all the plusses.
