Pros With Google Photos I couldn't find my photos because there was no proper filing system and little customization. IDrive is a simple folder system like Windows. Google would compress my photos even when I told them not to. I drive doesn't compress. Google would offer tons of free storage then take it away forcing you to pay. Google would delete tons of my photos and other things without permission or warning. For all these reasons and more IDrive Is a better option that provides more peace of mind. Cons There is always room for improvement and refinement but it's more important not to overcomplicate the program. Don't make any changes that will fundamentally change IDrive from what I originally signed up for. I want to pay for it and forget about it. I don't want the program to become something I have to maintain. Pros Easy to set up and specify which folders to back. There is no need to move all your data to a special folder as there is with OneDrive or DropBox. This is a big issue as it lengthens some already long paths I have. Both OneDrive and DropBox actually corrupted and lost my data, whereas iDrive hasn't done that. I get emails and alerts to tell me if a backup has failed for any reason. Cons No real problems found. DropBox was good for a while, but a recent change in architecture seems to have rendered what used to be a good product something of a disaster area. I messaged DropBox but none of the suggestions allowed me to recover my files. The cost of the product was very reasonable for the great features the software has. Pros This product was very easy to set up. We had it set to back up our server data on a daily basis. I liked that it emailed me a report of the backup status when it completed, or if it had errors. The emails were very easy to figure out if files were unable to backup. We were able to select or deselect which folders to backup very easily. The restore process worked flawlessly and was simple to do. Cons When we upgraded our server to Microsoft Server 2019, the backup job would randomly hang during the nightly job. The only way to get the job to complete was to restart the server. I worked with support for a long time on this issue and we were unable to figure out the problem, so I discontinued this backup solution. Pros Easy to install, to configure and to use. Not invasive and does what is supposed to do without any stress. Cons Sometimes slow in upload. The overall interface could be improved from a UX perspective. April 18, 2022 5.0 We used to have a local "server" and grant access to all local computers to access its files. My worry was always that the local hardrive on that machine would give out and die and i lose all my files. iDrive allows me to back up my files. Pros Ease of use and set up, automatic backups, access all files on all devices and computers, access files via the web from anywhere. Cons I wish I was able to access my files without using local storage space. This feature is available in other competitors. It's not such a big issue but my iDrive storage space is 100+GB and I have some computers that can only access the idrive via the web because the computer is limited in space and syncing my idrive to it will take up the entire local storage space. I've reached out to iDrive and confirmed this feature is not available. Hopefully, they can implement soon. Review Source TH Ted H. Pros Backup is easy and automatic. I get reassuring reports that backup has actually happened. Cons It was hard to figure out where to go to buy iDrive and install it. In retrospect the free version would have provided enough storage but I had to buy the smallest pay version because it was the only way I could find to actually get the product. Pros The restore app is well designed and fast Cons When I rebooted a week after installing, my hard drive was locked. Couldn't boot anymore. Recovery failed, even system reinstall. Had to format the entire Mac and reinstall everything, which took 2 days. Turned out the "continuous backup" hadn't even worked, only the scheduled backup which ran once at night. My Mac is usually asleep at night. Also: helpdesk couldn't get throttling to work. Everything below 100% used only a fraction of my bandwidth: the calculation was wrong. With iDrive I can save ti iDrive all the very old files I seldom or may never need, and delete them from my laptop to free up space for new files. Pros better price than competitors, ability of the application to upload only the files / folders that have changed or been added since last backup, so it is very fast. Cons i was afraid to hit RESTORE, not knowing what would happen. But I think I figured out that I can check-mark the files/folders that I want to restore to my laptop, and iDrive will restore only that which I have checked. It's like any other new software, it always takes a little time to learn its ins and outs. If other options are comparable in price upon next renewal, I would almost certainly switch away for the benefit of better backup software, even though it means having to re-upload everything again. Pros The price is good, based on an introductory special offer. Never an issue until SSO. Because their service was so terrible after jumping through hoops with their terrible senior support team (although their first tier was great), I refuse to support them any longer. The service was Ok but after looking at competitors I decided to give IDrive a shot - been one of the best decisions we've made since we are now backing up critical files including Google Drive for client work. Cons The service itself didn't meet my expectations at all. The interface is responding very slowly. My goal is to move all my files to some cloud to have a backup. So I was uploading quite a lot of data at once. Between 5GB to 25GB. It never shows progress bar so I didn't know if its going to take 3 minutes or 3 hours. But the worst thing was that when uploading process finished I found out it didn't upload everything in the folder. It happened almost always. So I am canceling my account as I need something reliable. The first Backup last a few days to complete (650 GB. apron) ¡, but afterwards each day last less than 20 minutes to backup the new data stored in the NAS. By the way, I've only used 15% of my quota on IDrive. Pros I was searching for a Cloud Service that could keeps my NAS data secure in case of in site failure. And this service offers much more than that. Cons Well, it is not a dislike, but I need to say that in the first hand use of this service, the interface it is not as intuitive (easy to use) as it could be, but nevertheless it only took a couple of "trail an error" to learn how to do it. I believe a iDrive does very good with seamless back up. I believe they manage the portions very well. I believe it’s easy to select what you want to back up. The encryption is very good. The seamless ease-of-use is very good. The technical support is pretty good. Like I said one guy was a little patronizing. However, I believe that was the only problem with customer service. I do think their customer service is very good in their sales were very good. Also the price is out of this world stellar. Pros Weather like most about idrive was, it was truly plug-and-play simple to back things up. It was also very easy to manage the user interface and the customer support was top notch. Cons iDrive took 72 hours to download a 650 GB file and still after 72 hours it was only 71% complete. I ran a random junk Internet test to verify with a different service and it downloaded 275 GB in three hours on my connection I was on the phone with customer service three separate times and they told me everything should be working correctly and they seemed a little patronizing.
