Just make sure to test and verify your backups to make sure everything is working properly. Pros Has an extensive set of options and features, such as incremental and compressed backups, file versioning and the handling of multiple devices. Cons It does not have unlimited online storage, so you need to pick your plan for now and then spend more as your space needs grow. Downloading can be a bit slow. Pros We use as a backup storage system on the internet. It seems to be doing its job. We like that it is easy to use. Cons The software automatically saves every version of the file changed. This can be easily updated but we have run into a situation where thousands of files were marked for deletion and it ended up taking up most of our storage space. Pros Product came recommended by several articles I read. Installation and setup was easy. Price was in line with other alternatives. And when i had problems with scheduled backup (on my end, not problems with software), the customer service rep was patient and knowledgeable, and helped me sort out the issue quickly and without stress. I am not super tech savvy and found it easy to use. Pros I am an author and educator who creates training videos to help people with an acting career or writing books. It is essential to my business that I have a safe place to store my intellectual property. I can easily share the videos with my editor without having to send thumb drives or meet in person. What a time saver. The cost was better than anything else out there. Cons I can't upload some of my larger training files that are over 2gb. The process is autoamated, a few moments after saving file on comp A you can see it also on comp B. Backuping entire disc or just individual folders is an easy process that a child can do. No complicated computer skills required, just choose files and click Backup Now. Cons After a month of use, I have no bad experiences. I had used OneDrive but I hated it and switched it off. I really like the fact that I have total control over what gets backed up and when. I love that I can also back up my phone having recently had the horrible experience of losing photos on an sd card. It was very easy to install and to get up and running. Restoring files is straightforward and also gives me a lot of flexibility around how I share photos and videos from my phone. That was an unexpected bonus. The initial back-up took quite a long time, but it didn't seem excessive. The pricing seems very fair and there is a good range of choices. Cons The mobile app isn't fabulous (I'm on Android) - I read the help text but couldn't select an individual file for restore. Not really a problem since I have access on my desktop. I have about 300gb free on my home drive so I can't upload more than that because it fills up my computer. After restarting, the storage frees back up on the home drive. I'm not sure why that happens, but for now I just upload small chunks. I'm hoping I'll hit a slow period at work soon and can investigate. Also upload speed is not too speedy.. Pros File system easy to understand. I can understand where specific files are being stored and how to access them if they needed to be restored. Cons I have to upload in small chunks because it seems to mirror the amount of files on my home hard drive under System Data. Then I restart the computer so space frees back up in System Data. January 25, 2024 5.0 Helped me back up a PC that had 1.5TB of info and I needed to do it without me having an external drive with that capacity. So I just got and backed it up online. Upload speed was not super fast, but reliable and I just had to leave the entire process alone until it finished. No hoops or difficulties found in the process. Pros Low price for the first year, for a ton of cloud storage space. Cons You can't see your cloud folder on desktop without the application downloading a copy of the files to your hard drive first. I haven't had to retreive any of the backed up files but if it's a s easy as backing them up is the cloud backup for everyone! Pros I like that offers a lot of space for an affordable price. This was my main reason for switching to IDrive. Cons In my opinion it takes quite a long time for a backup to resume after having been paused. I don't yet understand what incremental backup means but it almost seems faster to cancel and restart a backup than to try and continue with it after being paused. Would recommend. Pros I like that is affordable and does not backup only certain types of files based on your tier of membership. I love that you can encrypt the cloud back up as well as your local back up and that you can create an ISO drive image quickly and easily on an external hard drive. Cons I don't like that it seems I have to do a full system backup over again when I add a new file directory or drive. Even the scanning to verify files already on the serve takes a long time. Cons The login process into the Synology app is really annoying. First, I have to log in with my NAS user. Second, I have to log in with account. Finally, I have to add the encryption key. Then, I can see the jobs and add new ones. There is no option remember the field and If I close the tab in my browser, I have to repeat all over again from the beginning. But this is the problem of iDrive NAS app not the iDrive cloud platform. I especially love being able to partition so that my different machine backups are clearly separate from each other. Pros The software automatically selected our C drive folders to back up. I have used other backup systems where I had to choose folders however, being IT illiterate, it was difficult for me to navigate the platforms in order to set backup for the correct folders. did this for me and saved me a lot of grief and gave me peace of mind. Cons I didn't find anything that I considered detrimental to the use of the software. As I virtually had to do nothing at all I can't complain about anything.
