It made HR operations more organized and reduced the amount of repetitive admin work for both HR and IT teams. The platform is reliable for daily use, and employees found the self-service options simple enough without needing much support. There are still a few areas that could improve, mainly around advanced reporting and pricing flexibility, but overall it has been a strong solution for managing employee operations in one place. Pros Rippling helped us reduce a lot of manual HR work by keeping employee onboarding, payroll, device management, and basic IT tasks in one platform. The onboarding workflow is one of the best parts because new hires can complete documents, payroll setup, and account access without multiple follow-ups from HR. Pros I appreciate how streamlined our employee lifecycle processes have been since we started using Rippling. For any type of transition, Rippling takes you through the appropriate workflow so that you don't have to remember or make your own checklists. Cons The way data is organized in "objects" isn't the most intuitive. When building reports, it seems you have to ignore a lot of noise and operate under assumption that you're bringing in the right data. President Retail Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Lack of Payroll Capability for multi-unit franchisee" May 8, 2026 1.0 We selected Rippling expecting it could support a franchise payroll environment where employees regularly work across multiple locations. That proved not to be the case. The platform’s upload and payroll functionality could not properly accommodate multi-location labor allocation. After extensive work with support and leadership, the only workaround offered was manual payroll entry for employees across locations — employee-by-employee and data field-by-data field. Additional issues included: capabilities discussed during sales that were unavailable in the U.S.; double payment of quarterly payroll taxes in the six figures during implementation; delayed recovery of those funds; incorrect refund allocations between business entities; and unresolved rebate/refund commitments. Leadership did acknowledge many of these failures and escalated internally, which I appreciate. However, the operational impact on our organization has been significant. Franchise operators and businesses using POS-integrated timekeeping systems should carefully verify multi-location payroll functionality before committing. Pros Time off tracking was seamless from employee and administrator perspective. Document management system was adequate (although didn't allow editing during the approval process). Pros I am pleased with how rippling brings all hr-related tasks together under one roof (payroll, time-off, etc.) and eliminates the need to use multiple separate applications. I appreciate that the application allows me to "clock-in" directly via my smartphone and view my pay stubs as well. The ability to get approval for time off quickly; and, being able to make changes to my direct deposit information through the system has greatly simplified this process. Cons Anytime there is a new version of the software released by the developers, they tend to rearrange many of the items in the menu system, but do not provide any notice to users. In addition, anytime i call customer service and ask them a question that does not appear in their general help section, it always seems to take hours to resolve. Lastly, the user is unable to customize the dashboard easily; however, the worst part of using rippling is that it becomes extremely slow when every person uses it to run payroll at the same time. I helped us pick out Rippling for our company at Strider Bikes, and we added on the IT bundle because we we're using a free desktop only tool for managing passwords and we were running into a lot of issues with that. Pros I love how customizable the Password management is, (RPass). You can organize through folders, tags, departments and vaults. Each password can have its own sharing permissions which is incredibly handy when managing passwords for departments and team. You can mark a password as "Marketing" and set up rules so that anyone who currently works in Marking has access. Really nice. The other IT management aspect that I really love is when hiring a new employee, I can auto create accounts for Basecamp, Trainual, Microsoft, NetSuite, etc. So handy. Cons When you forget your password for Rippling or Rpass, and you reset it, you lose all of your RPass personal vault passwords. That's a huge risk! I've recommended to my team to save every password in the company vault and just be strict with the permissions because I would hate to spend hours putting passwords in and if I for some reason need to reset my password, all that work is gone. We're a small consulting firm (sub-15 FTEs) running a PEO setup, and it handles payroll, benefits, and device management in one place without making me feel like I need a certification to use it. Onboarding new hires is fast. Benefits enrollment is clean. The fact that it connects to our other systems without a lot of manual intervention is genuinely valuable. Pros The unified platform. I don't have to toggle between five tools to onboard someone, assign a laptop, enroll them in benefits, and run payroll. It's all there, and it mostly just works. The PEO structure also gave us access to Aetna health plans we wouldn't have been able to negotiate on our own as a small employer. That alone was worth it. Cons The support experience can be inconsistent. When something's simple, the documentation is fine. When something's complex, like state-specific employer registration or mid-year benefit changes, you can end up in a loop between chat support and figuring it out on your own. Their onboarding support for our PEO setup was very strong. We had an unusual situation involving an employee without an SSN, and the team handled it well, helping us work through the process quickly and clearly. Pros Initially, we were impressed by the depth of integration across Rippling’s products, especially ATS and HRIS. Following launch, we started working with them both in the U.S. as a PEO provider and in Ireland as an EOR provider. In both cases, they have been responsive, flexible and able to meet tight timelines around our preferred start dates. Cons Rippling is currently not able to pay contractors in local currency, so we are still using another provider for contractors based in the Philippines. It is super easy to navigate and easy to set up. I've never had an issue with it and I constantly have good things to say. There are no bugs or issues. I also am able to update it easily. Cons I've really never had anything thats bothered me about rippling. Sometimes it can be slow with showing other employees in the employee tree. Or PTO can be a little slow to load a times. The consolidation of HR, IT, and payroll in one place has made our ops significantly leaner. Things that required coordination between two or three people now just happen. I don't think about payroll runs anymore - they go out, they're accurate, and nobody emails me about them. That alone is worth a lot. Would recommend it to any company that's hit the point where duct-taping multiple HR tools together is starting to hurt. Pros The thing that genuinely surprised me about Rippling is how much it replaced. Before, we had separate tools for payroll, device management, benefits, and onboarding — and someone on the team was always manually syncing data between them. Rippling killed that entirely. When we hire someone now, one workflow handles their payroll setup, app access, and equipment provisioning at the same time. That's not a small thing. For a team our size, that used to eat up a solid chunk of someone's week. The reporting is also better than I expected - I can actually pull the data I need without waiting on someone else to run it. Cons The learning curve at the start is real. There's a lot of functionality packed in, and it's not always obvious where to find things or in what order to set them up. We had a few hiccups during implementation where things weren't configured exactly right and it caused some back-and-forth with support. Once you're through that initial setup phase it runs smoothly, but I'd be lying if I said onboarding the platform itself was painless.
