September 9, 2026 5.0 It prevents us from continuing to keep track of everybody on random spreadsheets. We no longer have to manually calculate things such as overtime and health deductions. Employees can simply take care of their own direct deposit when they change banks. Essentially, it eliminates the risk of being in violation of hr laws by eliminating most of the required compliance issues. Pros I love having access to everything i need within one application rather than having to go to five separate applications. The ability to view my past pay stubs and submit requests for time-off are also two features that i greatly appreciate. While it could be better, it generally provides what i need. The barista at work has been yelling my drink orders at me literally right behind my head. Our account rep jessica responds quickly if anything goes wrong. Managers can easily pull up the contact information or employee schedule via the app rather than calling me. I am happy to say that the data stays organized and never crashes. Cons The help section is absolutely terrible. All the pdf’s are worthless to me, i simply want short videos (that i can pause) while trying to correct an issue. Searching for a certain type of report takes an outrageous amount of clicking through screens and the search function is horrible. They continue to “update” the menu just to give it a new look and feel and consequently, i lose where the buttons were located previously. They are pushing this ai feature that only refers back to help articles that no longer exist. I would like them to allow us to hide older checklists as there are so many of them and it causes confusion among employees. It makes collaboration between departments in a big company a little bit easier because you know who to contact! Doing performance reviews is easy too. Finally, there was never a pay day that came late, which is likely in part due to my company, but Rippling did their job too. Overall, this is a solid product! I'll note that my company decided to move to Insperity, which may be related to the price of Rippling. Cons The PTO platform was confusing. I accidentally used hours that were for the next year during a prior year because I thought that I needed to use the quantity of hours that were left. But it turned out the way it added up was more than I had left, and it took away from the next year. I wouldn't have done this if the platform were a bit clearer. It should be easy math, but it turned out it wasn't quite as easy as one would expect! This was not user error—it was a failure in their payroll calculation logic. We were then instructed to recover those funds from employees, placing the burden and risk on us for a mistake we did not make. This alone is unacceptable. But it’s part of a larger pattern. We have experienced repeated system failures, including: Incorrect, system-generated paychecks during offboarding PTO and time-off miscalculations affecting final wages Broken workflows creating duplicate or unintended payments Benefits enrollment errors leading to compliance risks Severe system delays (up to 45 minutes for basic actions) Support has been equally frustrating. Pros We are a small startup that started last year backed by Y Combinator, the same accelerator that incubated Rippling. We use Rippling as our standard HR system and payroll management, which allows us to delegate tax deduction, health insurance, 401K without having to set it up from scratch. As part of the Y Combinator deal, we also get 1 year of free Founder Mode subscription which helps us evaluate the product at no cost which is excellent. Our fundamental reason for picking Rippling over other startup-focused HR companies was the maturity of the platform and their top tier sales team, which can be pushy at times but generally were quite helpful. Cons The sales team was a bit pushy which was not fun. The other issue is that there is feature sprawl in the platform which makes it hard to navigate and worse makes it feel slow and bloated when 99% of those options are not needed for us as a small startup.
