### "Process automation"

November 20, 2025

5.0

My experience with ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager (NCM) is related to the tasks of automating network infrastructure management, change control, and fault tolerance through timely configuration backups. 1. Deployment and initial configuration When implementing NCM, it performed: deploying a server on Windows/Linux; connecting network devices from different vendors (Cisco, Mikrotik, Huawei, HP/Aruba, Fortinet); configuring credentials and access profiles; integration with OpManager and ServiceDesk Plus to automate incident handling. Plus, the process of connecting devices is quite simple, but for some models it was necessary to manually adjust the backup/restore commands.

Pros

Here are the main advantages of ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager (NCM), which are most often noted by administrators and which are considered the strongest sides of the product.: 1. Centralized configuration management You can manage the configurations of all network devices from one location — switches, routers, firewalls, and Wi-Fi points. Saves a lot of time when working with a large number of devices. 2. Automatic backups

Cons

Limited parsing and template capabilities Automatic configuration parsing does not always work correctly with: non-standard configs, by specific vendors, complex ACLs or firewall policies. Sometimes you need to manually add templates.

### "Positively contributed to the enhancement of company’s operational stability"

April 10, 2025

4.0

With the help of Network Configuration Manager, there has been an improvement of the reliability of change control. It has become the norm to check device statuses, check for policy adherence, and to develop new changes here and there for testing.

Pros

I like that in the ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager the tool offers an instant rollback to the last saved configuration. I have learned that from a faulty firewall rule I can quickly restore and continue my work without having to spend time to configure from the scratch, or else it would lead to much more downtime.

Cons

It has a very effective automated backup feature which suffers from failing to perform the backup if the network traffic is very high. This compelled me to create outside alerts to avoid getting realize some backup milestones during such moments.

### "Enhanced our change management discipline in several ways"

April 10, 2025

4.0

In my opinion the overall experience has been quite relaxing. From the above statement, the following outcomes are notable: I can now monitor as well as review command changes from an integrated cockpit while being compliant to the internal audit policies.

Pros

I found the real time configuration alerts very useful to track unauthorized changes throughout many routers and switches. It also allowed me to address problems before getting out of hand especially during the time of critical maintenance this made the oversight of the network much more reliable.

Cons

One challenge I came across was that some of the firmware vulnerability scanners do not scan few of the older Cisco device so there are some areas uncovered. For those I had to use manual checking of which significantly hampered my full compliance exercise.

### "Centralized control for diverse network environments"

April 25, 2025

4.0

Pros

It is noteworthy that Network Configuration Manager supports multi-vendor environments exceptionally well. Having to configurer numerous devices from many different manufacturers has been made easier through the use of this tool allowing us to have a on Stop tool instead of many tools.

Cons

I noticed that while performing tasks related to configuration in the high traffic zone, a little bit of time might be taken for the same. Although it is not severe, latency may be problematic for time-sensitive operations.

### "Raising the level of protection of our network and compliance"

April 26, 2025

4.0

Pros

In the area of reporting Network Configuration Manager shines and offers almost everything a compliance manager could need. Creating reports based on specific standards such as PCI and HIPAA has also helped in preparing and passing through audits effectively.

Cons

There is always duplication of alerts for the same event, meaning that the team receives many alerts, and it gets boring after sometime. The idea of adjusting some alert thresholds could increase the level of practicality.

### "Easy tracking of configuration change in large network systems"

April 27, 2025

4.0

Pros

It surprised me that I could turn the configuration of a few tens of device to the same settings at once without the separate logins and scripts. Using the Network Configuration Manager, I can revert to earlier versions if the experimental changes are not ideal.

Cons

The device support library can occasionally be slow to incorporate new hardware products in the market. After installing models that are newly developed, I had to deploy backup scripts or templates myself.

### "An essential backup brain for network teams"

April 17, 2025

4.0

Pros

Network Configuration Manager also has a rollback feature which can be synchronized with automatic backups. Finally, the history of backup archive makes me comfortable with the idea that I can easily audit and restore devices older states if they are required.

Cons

Scheduling of compliance audits is a little formulized through the scheduling interface. I have not been able to achieve an exact match of scans with off-peak hours especially where I have designed my own custom policy sets.

It is very effective to be able to schedule configuration backups on multiple devices in various locations at equal ease. Network Configuration Manager from ManageEngine let us easily keep track of the device, as well as perform update and restoration of configurations when necessary to minimize the time off-line.

### "Gave us efficient firmware vulnerability management"

April 22, 2025

4.0

Pros

I like the firmware vulnerability management feature. The scanning feature of ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager where it is able to identify known vulnerabilities of a device and provide details of them such as CVE number and severity level has strengthened our pre-emptive safeguarding strategy.

Cons

There is a discontinuity in terms of the database synchronisation resulting in the delay in the identification of new vulnerabilities. This is dangerous if not closely monitored due to the delay involved in the process.

### "Improving the network reliability by automation"

April 25, 2025

4.0

Pros

The automated configuration backup in ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager gives satisfaction. Being aware that device configurations are usually synchronized and can be easily repaired in a short period in the event of any problems has enhanced our disaster recovery plans.

Cons

The firmware vulnerability management appears to be a bit slow in providing the most recent updates of CVE entries. This requires follow-up by manual checking to ensure that all the vulnerabilities are closed as and when they are discovered.

### "Helped preserve configuration consistency across the infrastructure"

April 22, 2025

4.0

Pros

Using ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager, I was able to easily identify configuration deviations on the network devices. I always get notifications whenever device configurations go off the normal standard hence am able to attend to them before they cause service interferences.

Cons

Some baseline comparison reports do not, nonetheless, capture slight syntactical variations, especially in sets of custom commands. This has been achieved by hand analyses to identify mere mistakes with more pronounced effects on the results.

### "Secure our network with intelligent backups"

April 27, 2025

4.0

Pros

The preference for frequent automatic backups across all core devices of the Network Configuration Manager was particularly beneficial in the case of disaster recovery. It was possible for me to store multiple versions of the configuration and you could easily restore the systems.

Cons

The issue is occasional and mostly noticeable during facility maintenance when the real-time configuration comparison might confuse very large multi-context firewalls, thus causing minor delay in the generation of the config diff.

### "Held up as a reliable defense against config chaos"

April 17, 2025

4.0

Pros

With the help of Network Configuration Manager I have configured in my organization, I am immediately notified when a certain config has been changed by anyone else, thus reducing future improper changes. The feature to revert back to the last working state without much ado has worked well for me whenever there were downtimes.

Cons

There are some lags if they are set for multiple devices at the same time. It does not coincide with the maintenance hours and as a result I have to schedule some backups separately to prevent interference with other activities.

### "Proactive compliance made easier than ever"

April 17, 2025

4.0

Pros

For me it was useful to use Network Configuration Manager, especially when creating its own custom compliance rule. I set account-specific standards and received automatic reminders about them. It is also wise in managing internal policies that the platform keeps all configuration changes under surveillance.

Cons

During the rapid switching between configurations in numerous devices, it may generate false alarms. This produced a noise to the alert logs and these need to be filtered manually which consumes time especially during mass restoration.

### "Centralized method has centralized our network operations"

April 22, 2025

4.0

Pros

Managing number of configurations across multiple devices with different vendors can be quite strenuous exercise which is not a problem as far as NCM is involved. It is compatible with more than 200 vendors, and this means that the management is also easily doable.

Cons

Some of the devices require intervention for optimization which can take a lot of time. Quite clearly, there are some overlaps, and if the few areas of conflict are worked out, then this feature would be very useful.

### "Useful in enhancing the configuration hygiene of my team"

April 14, 2025

5.0

Pros

I like the way the role-based access control has that means you can grant permission depending on the particular technician. This allows junior admins to conduct only read-only audits most of the time and restrict write-only actions to core team members.

Cons

It often does not automatically start all the services affected by the configuration change by default. I have to log into the device in order to bring the services up after restore, which is time consuming especially when working on emergency backups or rollback plans.

### "Offered useful configuration backup for multi-vendor networks"

April 11, 2025

4.0

I believe that using Network Configuration Manager has made it easier for me in the aspect of compliance and change management. I do not use paper logs or have scripts, which are different from one another.

Pros

I have liked the automatic configuration backup functionality in particular when comparing between different device vendors. It also recognizes changes on the go, stores configurations, and retains historical data; ensuring that I never lose configurations on my devices after updates or manual interjections.

Cons

There was irregularity when it comes to alerting in regards to particular edge routers. At times, the alerts are not fired instantly, thereby delaying the action on unauthorized changes or anomalous behavior in the remote branch devices.
