### "Never failed to restore a known good state"

April 9, 2025

5.0

Pros

I enjoyed copying and creating automatic backup settings of all routers and switches with the greatest ease. That is why even during the most traffic-intensive period, the backups operate discreetly without a hint of slowing down the bandwidth or the device.

Cons

In large operations iit may take me a long time due to fluctuations in the network circumstances, so I have to spread the deployments myself.

### "Improve our network security through strict access control"

April 3, 2025

4.0

Pros

We have also been able to limit unauthorized changes to configurations to only those personnel who are permitted to make changes in the network thus improving our stability and security. The reliability of the system in enforcing these controls is quite impressive.

Cons

It took substantial time whilst still designing the access control levels, but they were necessary during the first phase. Creating and customizing Configlets poses certain difficulties, especially for the fact that the scripting language is not very intuitive.

### "Vital asset in ensuring our network's compliance and security"

April 19, 2025

5.0

Pros

In Network Configuration Manager, I am able to set best practices and policies, verify for policy violations on devices and take action to put right device configurations. This has been very useful in ensuring that the network of our operations is strong and protected.

Cons

As for my observations I noticed that cloud integration is not very strong in the tool.

### "We like NCM"

August 23, 2024

4.0

We used NCM as a replacement for Cisco Prime Infrastructure. We have no regrets in moving away from Prime and into NCM, it's been a great tool for us in managing all of our switches and routers.

Pros

The user interface is very easy to navigate, it was very easy to get all of our devices into NCM and get them backed up. Writing configlets for common tasks (like an ios upgrade) was very easy.

Cons

The Compliance module is not the easiest to work with. Some of the features don't work as expected, it was somewhat difficult to get it to run a configlet automatically when it encountered a policy violation. That part never worked very well.

Reason for choosing ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager

We received a demo of NCM, it was easy to install and configure and start using. The user interface is really nice, access to support from within the product is very easy to access

Overall, we are very happy with NCM. ManageEngine support has always been top notch when we've needed support configuring things/troubleshooting.

Pros

NCM has made managing our network devices super streamlined. We really like how easy it was to discover devices, add credentials, etc. It is super convenient to have all switches accessible from the same interface and SSH into them. The configlets are great as well. Very affordable as well.

Cons

Not applicable, we are very happy with NCM.

Excellent, we plan on continuing to add customers and licenses as we operationalize this in our company.

Pros

NCM has allowed us to identify and remediate firmware vulnerabilities for our customer base. The reporting allows us to provide our customers with reports that assist them in planning and device replacement.

I have around one year of experience with ManageEngine, both in customer environments and with a lab setup on my personal laptop. I find that ManageEngine has a user-friendly interface, making it easy to onboard devices and change configurations. It is also a very effective network monitoring tool for large-scale networks.

Pros

I mostly liked the interface, it was very user-friendly and allowed me to check all the configuration settings and device statuses. It supports network devices from all vendors, making it easy to configure and manage, with straightforward access and setup

Cons

Users, including myself, feel that the customization options are limited and not as flexible as they would like

### "Makes switch managment and compliance easy"

June 18, 2024

4.0

The platform was realitively easy to setup and add my devices. Once I got in the interface, I was able to qucikly setup Policies to confirm that our base config has been applied to our devices out in the enterprise.

Pros

The ability to ensure that certain command sets are enabled/disabled on all switches in our environment

Cons

It takes a while to find certain items. when looking for reports or where I can approve multiple config changes, I found that I have to click around a bit to find the right screen. Hopefully with more use I will learn where to go quicker.

### "ManageEngine NCM"

March 23, 2023

comparing technical support and features Manage Engine ncm is better than other products.

Pros

Device configuration backup is an important feature in ManageEngine NCM. It allows organizations to automatically and regularly back up the configurations of their network devices, ensuring that critical network configurations are always safe and available in case of a failure or other issue.

Cons

ManageEngine NCM supports a wide range of network devices from various vendors, including Cisco, Juniper, HP, Fortinet, and more. It is available as both an on-premises and cloud-based solution, making it accessible to organizations of all sizes.

Reason for choosing ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager

We have done two POCs with ManageEngine NCM and Motadata products, but comparing technical support and features, ManageEngine NCM is better than the other products.

### "NCM is better and simpler than DevOps"

April 26, 2024

5.0

Amazingly satisfied with NCM. We have been able to get by with relative quicker learning curve when we have new team members joining the team. NCM was something they could adopt to easily as compared to Rancid or learning devops tools for managing networks.

Pros

\- It alerts us almost immediately when changes are made on critical device. - Ability to be assured that the backups of the devices are happening and alerting in place if there's a failure due to a connectivity issue. - Point in time snapshot of backup of CLI configuration - Ability to investigate a block of configuration and create reports for multiple devices.

Cons

When the remote devices don't connect, the product is little un-forgiving and doesn't give much information. You have to invoke support to troubleshoot.

### "Features available on Network Configuration Manager"

April 28, 2020

5.0

NCM is compliance with industry standards. It is PCI, SOX and HIPAA compliance ensures data is secure.

Pros

With the current Covid-19 situation, I have been able to make maximum use of the features available in order to monitor our network and ensure business continuity. The reports generated by Firewall features within OPManager Plus are really useful. ManageEngine Support have been very swift in customising reports specific to our needs.

Cons

With all software, you must spend time initially tweaking to ensure the software works correctly. I found it difficult at times to understand the requirements to get the software to work.

ManageEngine's ethic in providing support for their customers is superb. I had an engineer onsite to ensure all my requirements are met. Once I became familiar with the product I was able to request customised reports which I ManageEngine Op Manager Plus team were able to provide.

I am not familiar with SolarWind, unfortunately I was faced with a brick wall when it came to support. Also cost was factor and I found all the features I need would cost more with SolarWind.

### "Useful add-on"

February 27, 2024

4.0

I like it but it took a while to find my way around. The support team are great and very helpful but some dedicated training videos would be good.

Pros

NCM is part of our Opmanager deployment so I didn't know much about it when we deployed it The more I use it the more i found out about it. It has some very useful features and is a very good bolt on for Opmanager

Cons

It is not well laid out. Not sure if this is because it is a bolt on rather than a standalone product but I feel that things are scattered about, instead of everything being under a single menu option.. There are two or three different ways to get to NCM specific components and this make sit difficult to find setting if you are unfamiliar with it.

Reason for choosing ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager

It came as part of the Opmanager suite so it wasn't a proactive choice.
