CredentialStream is going to help us streamline processes in a way we have not ever been able to do in the past. It adds far more automation for us. It allows us to set up internal and external reporting that will automatically drop in our secure SFTP for pick up, etc. Everyone on our implementation team have been extremely helpful, knowledgeable individuals. The trainers for various pieces of the system have been fantastic, and the overall experience working with the product is giving us so many opportunities for future integrations.

Pros

Our group had a legacy product that didnt do any of the automation that CredentialStream allows. It was easily configured to do so much more for us than anything we had previously experienced. Its out of box set ups allow for ease of editing, reporting, feeding data to required external sources, etc. The process for automation in the system allows for endless possibilities.

Cons

While working on learning the product and building our integration, our group thought that it would be an excellent idea for HealthStream to set up a training database that is already set up in all aspects, with all the bells and whistles set up. This way when a trainer is taking you through a process, you can actually see it happen, rather than them telling you "well it is supposed to look like this," etc. We ran into that frequently during training and had to poke at it a lot to get to where we needed to be. If that DB existed, it could be a place where a new employee could do some training and go play without affecting our production data.Where we were provided an implementation matrix, and a very excellent project manager, there are a lot of involved components that not only require set ups, they require a lot of back end data to be completed before you can do various steps. It would be nice if all the required elements for each of those "steps" were documented in the matrix as well as the dependencies for that step.Finally, when you have a specific training, it would be nice if actual documents, desktop procedures and the like that include the steps being reviewed were provided. Yes we have our training videos for the ones that were with our group, but any combined trainings dont have videos and documents weren't provided on any training. If you're needing to drive the process in CS while a training is going, you cant very well write notes and snapshot steps.

Some of our other regions have the desktop version of CredentialStream and after looking at other producs, talking to the collegues in other regions, and comparing what they have to the newer CredentialStream environment, it looked to be the best product, with expansive growth potential.

Overall, my experience has been wonderful with Credential Stream. It has made the credentialing process much easier even though its more tailored to a Hospital Based organization rather than a primary care/multi-specialty group like our organization.

Pros

I love the widgets and the overall visual experience of the platform.

Cons

The variables are not easy to choose when building reports and a lot of the time it's a trial-and-error process when building new reports.

after 15 months "live" in the system, we still struggle daily with issues/failures/delays in the system. At any given time we have a multitude of tickets open with support. We have lost significant efficiency since go-live, due to extra clicks, extra navigation, slowness, outages, etc.

Pros

Some of the Bolt reporting capabilities are helpful, but there are many variables left to be desired, and creating a Bolt report is not very easy for beginners.

Cons

Automation failing without explanation (and without us finding out until after the fact), delays, outages, slowness, visual presentation (white background is detrimental to ocular health), inflexibility in many areas.

Pros

I was excited about the automations and of how many enrollment applications were available in the system.

It's not user friendly and I worry we don't have it set up to best optimization.

CredentialStream has made my job easier and more efficient. Even though I have just started using this about 5 months ago, I have been able to close out intial and reappointment files faster than ever, and everything is more organized to be able to work more efficiently.

Pros

The organization and detailed system which helps make my job more efficient.

Cons

I am not a fan of not being able to manually add requested privileges, if the privileges did not come through their reappointment application, due to their current privileges already listed; it won't let me add the same DOP twice even though it's will be categorized at requested privileges not current.

I keep saying it will get better. However, our volume is always extremely high and we are expected to troubleshoot all on our own or enter support tickets and wait for replies. By the time we get help, we have already moved on to another priority and have to find time to go back. There really needs to be a single source (several) expert for this system so organizations can have one person from the very beginning that can sit with them to train and go through any questions they have but assess their current workflows and help them adjust for the new system. Even before implementation, it is important to be able to show why we need this information (when it comes to data mapping), and show what happens if you do not have it entered perfectly. It would have been very helpful to state which companies (you use for verifications now) will require a brand new, different agreement than you have now. I have had to learn this as I go and work new contacts as we find time. Our contract review process is somewhat laborious and can take time. It has been frustrating and caused financial loss in some cases when we had a subcription that is paid for but needed a completely new one that doesn't credit any of that payment with the other contract (example: Certifacts) I generally am a positive person and learn things easily. I keep saying to myself and my team that it will get better. It has improved but there are still so many things that could be improved so clients feel more supported throughout the implementation.

Pros

The pros would mostly include the idea of certain things working properly. It is difficult to find the many pros because the implementation has been extremely challenging. The items that can be automated are the pros and reports (although it takes hours to create some new ones and is very tricky). The biggest barriers have been how the structure and set up of support/client services as well as the implementation plan. On a positive note - our privileging consultant is absolutely the best thing and most helpful contact at healthstream. \[sensitive content hidden\] places customer service at the very very top. She is brilliant, knows how to educate her clients but also knows when to step back and let them do things on their own. She is a best practice in your company on client service and expertise. I could not have done it without her. \[sensitive content hidden\] has also been phenomenal. They are very quick to respond. You feel like a priority and they 100% understand their system but also our side of privileging. This is key.

Cons

The implementation planning. It felt like boxes to check off and not actually someone (or a team) sitting down with us to figure out what we need as an organization and team. Looking back, I would completely revamp the implementation program. This is not a critique on people as much as it is process and CredentialStream's strategy. I completely understand the logic of having clients troubleshoot on their own, when appropriate. However, when you are initially learning an entire new system, there should be a high level of physical support for your clients.

Nice options that don't make sense. but we are use to your bad programming, par for the course. we were told we had to as it was going to be not supported, and then it was supported so that was surprise to us. So someone was not telling the truth. we were rushed into a decision. a bad decision.

Wish we would have not switched to this database. Initial onboarding was a nightmare. Constant issues. Not user friendly.

I don't have a favorite aspect of CredentialStream.

Cons

Cumbersome, not intuitive, far too techy when it comes to report creation. Lots of good ideas, but execution falls short. There's almost always a reason why we cannot fully utilize a particular feature

All of the trainers have been wonderful, kind and patient. The system seems intuitive and user friendly so far. Any bugs we have been able to get worked out so far. The payer side of things is lacking for us per our Billing Manager.

Pros

I like how automated that my credentialing process will be once we get it implemented.

Cons

The training is extensive and too much to do prior to the actual implementation.

All electronic verification and appoint process. sending out application is very easy.

Cons

Hub is very slow. providers are complaining it is not user friendly to fill out the application. They are having issues in loading all the sign documents every time.

Overall great! No regrets on changing systems.

Pros

It's an overall great system and a lot of the automation is beneficial. Having reports that can be automatically sent to users is one of the best features. Physicians and APCs understand the system better than most other software. Cloud capability is great. Online affiliations are A+.

Cons

Monthly updates are excessive in a frequently understaffed office creating more issues than resolving; move to quarterly or biannually. Privileges need to be more worker friendly for mid-cycle requests. Report creation can be complicated. NPDB could be integrated for mid-cycle requests.

Despite the high cost it did offer the most features and value for service.

If able to find/afford a new system would change in a heartbeat. Set up took way too long, team members changed consistently, training was lacking. Basically after two years, still unable to populate an accurate, IL Cred Application etc. but made to go live anyway.

Pros

Allows our data to be in one system. Nothing additional to report.

Cons

Navigation. Bolt confusing. Numerous Data entry inefficiencies which greatly affect productivity. Lack of trust in form data and CAQH record populations.

Cons

The reporting features are very cumbersome and overwhelming. Having to map payer forms and program DOPs and other forms is very overwhelming and difficult for someone who doesn't have a tech background.

Initially I was hoping a full electronic process would speed up and simplify my daily tasks, but the multitude of steps has just increased it. The time it took to train, transfer data, build privileges, and get acclimated to workflow processes was unbelievably stressful. The inability to work with providers in correcting privileges is frustrating for the provider and the MSC.

Pros

CS does allow faster review by physician reviewers in the Appoint Template.

Cons

Data integrity following migration from our CVO's former database was lacking and there were no reports set up to test out any variances in data for each facility in our health system. For example. We had many incorrect license institutions pull in and they had to be dealt with 1:1 rather than having a standard license report we could run to determine at-a-glance which provider records had incorrect data; or a batch update process to correct those areas. This should be standard on all databases. The program seems to break with every update, verification plug-ins disconnect, Standards of Practice processes seem to change at every turn. Duplication of data entry fields is ridiculous. Board certification verifications are frustrating especially those under Internal Medicine.

What used to be a three-person paper system is now a one-person electronic magic carpet ride. . . very satisfied with this system and all of its abilities. I would dare say that we have barely scratched the surface of capabilities. And, they are constantly getting feedback from the users and making enhancements.

Pros

I was part of the implementation team and didn't realize how useful this system would be to us. It seemed like we were very methodical in our set up - and now I see why. What we need is where it should be.

Cons

There are idiosyncrasies in the set up/workflow. But once you figure out what menus to go to, it will make sense.

We have effectively automated our credentialing process even though we are still handling paper applications. In our facility, I am the one and only super-user and I'm wearing the hat of credentialer at the same time that I'm trying to implement additional areas of usage for the software and training employees about the use of those modules. I appreciate the support mechanisms we've had in getting the product up and running and customizing it to meet our expectations. I appreciate the annual review with the company to discuss where we are with our project and how we can keep the focus on moving forward with its potential. Overall I'm happy with the product, it's functionality, and the support.

Cons

My e-references are frequently getting hung up in filters. I have tried to troubleshoot, but in the end I've learned that there is not much that can be done about it. E-references was one of the most inviting features of the product. It is unfortunate that it doesn't flow as effectively as an email that I send via my Outlook. Aside from that, there is not much that I don't like about it, but I always have ideas for improvements and enhancements.

Pros

ARM and Privileging. These are good to use.

Cons

Does not have automataic ticklers. Product needs to have automatic reminders for providers for expirealbes.

Poor support response. There are only one of two experts with form editing, ARM, portal, privileges or conditions. Unless you are contacting them about the staff screen, you will have to wait for someone else to get back to you. After so many questions on the same subject, they stop answering altogether. The change of escalation has been unclear. We don't have a dedicated support person so if they don't answer your helpdesk tickets you have no where to go with it.

Pros

It is easier to use what we had previously but product knowledge from support staff about new features is poor. We still can't replace our CMEs out of our unsupported old system because no one knows how to set them up. I do like having the physician portal, it has made things easier and improvements have been made in that area since 1st implementing it.

Cons

It is difficult to customize a different workflow from their standard. Inability to deal with CMEs, cannot edit forms easily.
