Good utility for the price. As a single veterinarian mobile practice, it's a good PIMS. I spoke with 6 other PIMS and chose Shepherd, and I'm happy with my choice.

Pros

I'm a single vet mobile practice so I don't use a lot of functions of Shepherd. But the ones I use I like. It's fantastic on a desktop/laptop but really difficult to use on a cellphone (formatting changes and its hard to use). Their customer service is stellar and they are making continuous updates and improvements. The pricing is good and they have ways to get a discount by participating in certain programs.

Cons

It's almost impossible to use on a cellphone. It's functionality isn't great for a mobile veterinarian.

So far have really enjoyed the start up of a business. Cannot speak for transitioning from a current PMS.

Pros

Ease of use and intuitiveness overall. This is a very good system and doesn't break the bank (especially for a start up).

Cons

Needs refinement (but this happens regularly when there is an issue). Usually, by the time I think about sending in a suggestion it is already changing.

### "Overall Good PMS"

One of my favorites. Not too much information like EZ VET is. Would like to be able to see items in groups, such as all the SOAPS at once, or all the client communications at once so I can search it easier.

Pros

Easy to learn and use! Great tracking of every move and who did it. Helps me track if I texted or emailed the client if I forgot I already did it.

Cons

Some of the reports are not as detailed as I would like. I would like to be able to see multiple screens at one time and I have to open 2 browsers to view 2 screens.

Good! Would recommend! It is very user friendly, customer support is always quick and helpful whenever something is wrong or we have a simple question.

Pros

easy to use, communication, scheduling, client management, customer support. If wr ever have an issue or question they are addressed quickly.

Cons

Occasional issues with speed/performance, the continuous updates create integration issues for us. There are a lot of outtages which can be frustrating

### "Shepherd is AMAZING!"

Shepherd has been great! We are a smaller clinic switching over from a very old system, so all the extras from Shepherd are amazing! The automatic appointment reminders to scheduling appointments as easy as a 1,2,3 is great! Having access to speak with someone at the touch of a button when we have a question about the system is great as well! We would highly recommend Shepherd to any facility that is looking to make a switch.

Pros

I love that it is very easy to find your way around! Coming from an older system to this one was a piece of cake, we were able to make the adjustment without any issues.

Cons

That messaging is now being charged for. We had switched to the system when messaging was free, and now we are having to add credits for messages sent.

I personally used DVMax for 21 year and was a little scared to change over to a new system and but I now love it!!!

Pros

easy to learn and easy to use. The ability to jump from owners account to patient's page. Scheduling no problem

Cons

Times when the system is down, and no being able to speak to a live person. Don't care for Sheppy AI

Overall satisfied and glad we switched! The help function is always available if questions arise and the training modules provided were easy and fast.

Pros

Great customer support and a smooth transition from Cornerstone. Software is intuitive and much faster than what we used before.

Cons

As with any change, there was a learning curve and it did take time to transfer the data; the Shepherd team was transparent about the amount of hands-on work that would be required & broke down each task in to bite sized steps.

I have used a handful of different software during my time in the veterinary industry, and Shepherd has by far been the easiest one to learn and adjust to. On top of that, the whole Shepherd team is very helpful and easy to work with, AND easy to get a hold of, which is something I had yet to experience with other software.

Pros

I love how user friendly it is. A lot of things you can figure out yourself just playing around with the software, or they even just naturally flow the way you would expect them to.

Cons

Honestly, my least favorite thing about Shepherd is very petty! That's how thorough and easy to use the software is. I do not like the ID numbers that are populated for patients-I wish they only used numbers and not a combination of numbers and letters.

The last few years have been great. We look forward to many more years of a great working relationship with Western Arizona Humane Society.

Pros

The software continually evolves overtime and accommodates new technology on a regular basis. Regular updates keep us happy and productive.

Cons

We'd have to stretch pretty far to find a dislike. Budgeting the new charges for SMS messages will be a priority as we have never had to pay for on this before.

Customer service is generally quick. Wish there was a phone option. Onboarding is supportive but alot is put on managment when it come to data imput. Recomend really reviewing repoeting functiona prior to switching

Pros

Product is beginner user friendly and very customizablw when it comes to SOAPs and general file and medical record keeping

Cons

Falls short when it comes to inventory customization and financial reporting. Leading in a delay in kpi tracking.

So far we love it. It has made it easier for staff to navigate history, SOAPs, and RX to answer questions for clients.

Pros

Flow of SOAP is easy, looking for prescriptions is seamless. Ease of use AI Sheppy answers most questions

Cons

Having to pay for texts and reminders only being sent by email Sometimes long wait time to get something fixed Not having an option for just ml for injections

Pros

Ease to learn and navigate to reports, as I use the software for reporting to do daily bookkeeping tasks.

Cons

Slow to resolve an important issue for reporting net totals for returned products on the Sales Tax report

Pros

The customer service is amazing. I was assigned a specific person to help with my initial set up and everything was done very thoroughly. The program is also very user friendly and has a good flow. Great value for the cost.

Cons

The system could be made to work better with loading information from previous visits into a recheck SOAP.

Every single person that helped us transition was beyond amazing and patient. The training was simple with the available walkthroughs.

Pros

The software itself is fantastic alone, but the customer service is too notch. Transitioning from our previous software to this one was as simple as it could be- of course, work on our end was involved and sometimes tedious, but it was easier than I expected.

Cons

I would love the ability to have the reminders for preventions update automatically for the quantity purchased. Currently we are going in manually to change them, which works since I created an automatic task to remind us to do it.

I was going to cause harm to something or someone if I had to continue to deal with hippo on a daily basis. No customer support after the first 5-6 months. Literally would take weeks for a response. The new update caused my vaccination due dates to disappear, reports didn’t work correctly (some of them didn’t from the beginning and they could never get the fixed for some reason), signing every chart and medication was ridiculously time consuming so it was making us less efficient overall.

So easy to use, easy to learn, with new features added seamlessly without negatively impacting the clean layout and intuitive functions. Development team has unparalleled responsiveness to user needs and questions.

Cons

I started using Shepherd as a start-up, so I didn't have to switch from a different process/software. That also means I got used to doing things without the integrations that are now available, so I need to step up my game to use all the available features!

Shepherd makes it possible for us to run our house call practice as a small team. Without Sheperd, we would need a full time receptionist.

Pros

Sheperd is easy to use and learn. The support chat is a REAL person and they are the same people day to day so they understand how you need the software to function best for your practice. The support team also seems to have a veterinary background so you can use the correct terminology to communicate with them.

Cons

The biggest con's were that it did not integrate with laboratories, but now they connect to Idexx and Antech so we are happy!

Exceptional. One of the single best customer support experiences of my life, professional and otherwise.

Pros

The ease of use for the full functionality of this software is incredible. I've used software at so many clinics where the program is so glitchy, and complex, they are only using about 10% of the functions (meaning wasting money on program function they don't use) Shepherd is robust, and so easy to use every component of the program!

Cons

Must have internet connection. No offline mode (mobile practice, and some work does not get saved if the internet connection glitches)

Love it! Thanks \[sensitive content hidden\] and Shepherd! I wouldn't have got my PIMS up and running without Shepherd.

Pros

I LOVED getting set up with Shepherd for my start up vet practice. It's stressful to set up PIMS, but they couldn't have been more helpful! I loved \[sensitive content hidden\], the advisor I was assigned to. She was so helpful. I asked her the same questions probably over and over, but she was so patient.

Cons

Hmm, it was all amazing, can't think of one thing I didn't like

Comfort in knowing that my records are complete, and knowing that I have more time to take care of my pTIENTS.

Pros

The software is extremely easy to transition to. There is virtually no learning curve, and coming from someone who is generally technologically challenged, that says a lot. One of my favorite things about the software is the simplicity of it. It doesn't take 10 steps to achieve 1 goal, it only takes 1. When you are trying to take care of critical patients, or any patients for that matter, no one wants to spend more time than they have to putting things in the computer. This software makes our use of time more efficient.

Cons

The only "con" so to speak, was when we were first transitioning, and that also falls under ease of use. Coming from software that was complicate, and all over the place, and took several steps to complete one task, it was difficult to how easy Shepherd is to use. We often felt as if we were missing steps.

Pros

The software is so intuitive, we were up and running immediately. The interface is slick and visually appealing without a busy cluttered appearance. Support is multimodal and rapid. I always have the help I need right when I need it. Data transfer was smooth too. I love the preloaded diagnoses and client information sheets which save me a ton of time at discharge. The customizable physical exam templates allow me to chart as I go with each patient so I am out the door on time and I have had much fewer missed charges. I can't say enough good things about this software, it was the best choice for our start up and I know Shepherd will grow with my practice.

Cons

There are a few features that I would like to see such as a way to email invoices/receipts with one click, however so far everyone I have asked for already has had a scheduled release date and an easy work around that Shepherd could offer in the meantime. This is obviously just a function of it being a relatively newer program and very soon everything I want will be available. I haven't come across any bugs or problems with it functioning as intended so they definitely did lots of beta testing to make sure it would be smooth sailing for their customers.

It makes capturing charges and putting in notes for the patients much easier and proficient. Super easy to use.

Pros

Easy to digest the whole screen when you first open it. Not so much clutter. The ability to drop things into multiple sections in one function.

Cons

The search engine is difficult to find the client or patient at times. Would like to be able to search using phone numbers.

It's so fast! It saves me time!

Pros

My favorite part is how easy it is to use. The tabs are intuitive. There is not too much going on on each page.

Cons

It doesn't yet sync with laboratory or online pharmacies. I believe in time it will. Also I am still in the input phase where I have to enter charges for products etc. I think a larger clinic would have this done for them but, since I didn't have Austin made I am having to do that day by day.
