ManageEngine ADSelfService Plus

## What is ManageEngine ADSelfService Plus?

ManageEngine ADSelfService Plus delivers robust self‑service password reset (SSPR) to eliminate most password‑related help desk calls. Users can securely reset forgotten passwords for Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and other connected systems from a web portal, mobile app, or Windows, macOS, and Linux logon screens. Identity verification is enforced through configurable MFA methods such as security questions, SMS/email OTPs, biometrics, authenticator apps, and FIDO2, ensuring only the rightful user can reset credentials. Password resets immediately update AD and propagate via real‑time password synchronization to integrated applications, preventing mismatched credentials. Detailed audit logs and optional approval workflows provide oversight for sensitive changes, helping IT maintain control while empowering users.

Great experience. Product is reasonably priced and provides a service we need. It always works and create no problems to manage. What every system admin wants.

Pros

We use it primarily for one thing - notifying users that their AD password is about to expire. Because many of our users are not on Microsoft products this reduces issues where their password expires and they do not know.

Cons

I like that it is fully customizable and has multiple options allowing us to dictate exactly what we want to happen

Overall we’ve been very satisfied with AD SelfServicePlus. It just works and requires little maintenance besides updates and cleaning up unneeded users. On the odd occasion that I’ve needed support they have been efficient and have always been able to resolve my issues.

Pros

The product was simple to setup, integrated easily with our user directory and handles user notifications when it’s time to reset passwords.

Cons

There are users who struggle with resetting passwords, not necessarily due to ManageEngine SelfServicePlus, but due to their inability to be able to manage our password complexity rules.

My experience with AD Self-Service Plus is positive. The product is easy to deploy, offers effective self-service password reset, MFA, and account unlock features, and helps to reduce the IT helpdesk team's workload significantly, which also improves user productivity.

Pros

What I like most about AD Self-Service Plus is its ability to let users securely reset passwords and unlock accounts without contacting the IT helpdesk, which significantly reduces the support team's workload. It also helps to enforce strong password policies while the user resets their password and sends the expiry notification to the users when their password is about to expire.

Cons

One limitation I noticed is that when adding a domain, AD Self-Service Plus requires the domain controller hostname rather than allowing the use of a domain controller IP address. This can cause configuration issues in environments where DNS is misconfigured, or hostname resolution from the AD Self-Service Plus server is not working correctly.

Overall, our experience with ManageEngine ADSelfService Plus has been very positive. It has significantly improved operational efficiency by reducing password-related tickets and empowering users with self-service capabilities, leading to faster issue resolution and better productivity. The solution provides a strong balance between security and user experience, with features like MFA, SSO, and audit reporting helping us meet compliance requirements while maintaining ease of use. Despite some minor challenges in initial setup and customisation, it has proven to be a reliable and valuable tool for identity and access management in an enterprise environment.

Pros

What I like most is its ease of use combined with strong security features. The self-service password reset and account unlock capabilities significantly reduce helpdesk dependency while maintaining a smooth user experience. Particularly beneficial features include: Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Flexible options like OTP, push notifications, and biometrics enhance security across endpoints and remote access. User-friendly self-service portal: Simple interface ensures quick adoption across users without training overhead. Password policy enforcement: Seamless integration with AD ensures users follow compliance requirements. SSO integration: Provides a consistent authentication experience across multiple enterprise applications. Audit and reporting: Detailed logs help meet audit and regulatory requirements.

Cons

At times, the initial setup and configuration can be complex, especially when integrating MFA, SSO, and multiple applications. Also, UI customisation and advanced reporting flexibility could be improved to better align with enterprise-specific requirements.

Over all it is a good experience with ManageEngine. Their support staff is very helpful and co-operative.

Pros

Easy to deploy and manage. Providing easy access across the network. It helps to enforce password complexity to all our AD users with single click.

Cons

nothing major but one thing i would like them to improve is the process of applying patches(updates). It is bit tedious work.
