Pros Simple and effective. I am always in need of links to send out to others, especially when presenting. This is extremely useful. When using Google Docs as extensively as I do, the links that are generated are really long. Granted, you can shorten the links in Drive, but even those are long and hard for people to remember when typing it in themselves. Also Google's own URL shortner is going away, so bitly becomes the premier shortlink generator. Cons Only one issue I have found is being able to edit/customize the URL. When you get one created that has zero and "o' next to each other, that is often hard for people to follow. Thats when I wish you could change it. I use this for my blog posts, because I am able to change the url to whatever I like. I do really like that feature, and how I can make my web address appear more professional by matching it up to the content. Cons I do not like how the payment situation is set up. I make nothing at all from link clicks, while other shorteners online will pay you each time someone clicks the link. I like that set up better! Pros I like that this resource is free to access and easy to use. I like that custom links can be created, and hits can be tracked. Cons Since the links that bitly generates are a random assortment of letters I do have some concern that users may be less likely to click on them thinking it is spam or going to lead to a malicious site. August 31, 2021 4.0 It comes handy when you need to send a link to someone, and the URL is too long. I use it every time, and the overall experience with it is wonderful. Pros It's efficient, and I think it's the best solution to the problem of long URL's. You just need to enter to the website and paste the link, no more steps. If you're doing marketing/advertising work, it has the option to track the URL and a lot of statistics to read. It's simple and free, and if you need something more serious the packages Bitly offers are great. Cons Paid version is really expensive. Pros The url shortener the offer is great. You're able to do so much with a free account that gives you so much statistics for your business so you know what is working and what is not. The pricing for the paid account isn't bad for what you're getting in return. Bitly is a great service to use 1000%. Cons There's nothing i like least about Bitly from experience. I can click on a link years after it's been created and it's still active. Students are also so familiar with Bitly and like its ease. You don't have to type in http://--just bit.ly and then the personalized ending. Great for teachers! Pros As a teacher, I use Bitly all the time to create links for student assignments. Instead of the long complex URL addresses most documents create, Bitly allows me to shorten and personalize the link. This works well for classes with different periods--same Bitly address with just a change of the period number. I also love that it's free! Cons My only complaint is when my personalized URL is already taken! There are a lot of schools that have the same name as mine. Pros Bitly is a best URL shortener .It has deep analytics which gives analytics for the shortened URLs. The feature of URL tracking is I like most in Bitly.I can keep tracking on the locations which the click performed on the URL. That feature is very important in advertising. Cons The URLs are expensive and URLs cannot be hold for later use .In some android applications Bitly URLs take some time to load other than these there is no issues to mention . By having something that is simple to plug into an email or chat makes the information look better when sending it and I don't have to worry about links being broken across lines or just way too long to send via a chat session. Pros This is a great tool for shortening urls when sharing information with our students. For librarians that do remote reference or just want to send information to our patrons, having the url shortener makes the website information easier to send and less intimidating for students. Simple and easy to use. Cons I've only used the free version thus far, which suits me enough. I wish I had options to modify the link names to make them easier to identify but that is an option with the other paid tiers. Pros I love the ability to customize links so they don't look spammy. The Bitly platform is very simple to use. Cons If you want to have a customizable Bitly link (as in not have "bit.ly" at the front, but a front-half customized for your org), it's super expensive. You also aren't able to delete old links you aren't using, which can clutter your list. Pros We have been using different online links and most of the time, the websites are extremely long. Bitly is our answer to shorten the links, especially when we are adding it to formal emails. Bitly also provide the history of the links you have shortened. Cons It serves it's main purpose, and I have not encountered any issues so far. It's a very useful application.
