It's easy to use, has a great UI, you're never lost, and the links you share are very short, you can literally bring it up casually on a conversation with a client! If you have a website, business, or setting up a lot of pages for various reasons, Bitly can greatly help you organize them and share them. Pros Sending links through text, email, or short messages are always a pain especially when you need to memorize all that web jargon attached to the URL... never again with Bitly! It's VERY easy to use. Literally just paste links and you're good. It has great functionality when sharing links and you can easily customize the link itself. Cons It has one main function. That's pretty much the point anyway. A must have for anyone that manages social media accounts. Pros We've been using bit.ly since the very first days, when it was just a URL shortener. Since then we've been happy to see it add more features such as deep analytics. We've been using the FREE version for all our clients' social media accounts for the last 4 years. Cons The paid versions are a bit expensive. Also, sometimes it can get a bit irritating when the custom URL you want to use has already been taken. You cannot hold on to URLs for later use. I’m always satisfied with Bitly, nothing else. I really love using this service. It is always been my go to short link provider. Pros Its very much straightforward and do what is needed to be done. Bitly is has also free version, you can still use it without any subscription. Cons There is nothing that I personally don’t like about bitly. This is especially useful when sharing an amazon link on a blog so that the long link isn't clogging up the blog space. Pros I love that I can use this to shorten my website links with ease. Cons It says "bitly" for all the shortened links, even though the ending can be customized. Just branding wise, it's a little annoying but I'm sure it's not that big of a deal. We need to know what works best, what people are responding to, and how we can improve upon that message. Bitly makes tracking simple and easy for us to know how to do that. Pros We make a ton of content and post it across multiple platforms that include all social media channels, plus Youtube and more. We need to know which blog posts, or videos are driving traffic to our sales channels so we can deploy more of that. We've been using Bitly for quite a number of years now. Its super simple for even an entry-level team member to manage. Being able to brand our links with custom extensions and tags has been a huge value to our marketing team. We've created so many custom urls and are easily able to share and track them. With Bitly we can keep our links short, trackable, and looking great! Pros What I like most about Bitly is its absolute simplicity. As a marketer, I use Bitly on a constant basis to shorten and also track our content. I also love the custom link aspect, as I can 'brand' my links, and file them for access as needed. I can track my barcode clicks and count per pages that i need. Nice stats! Cons Limited features. Some you have to pay for, but it would be nice to get for free. :) Sometimes, UI isn't easy to find what you need and it has glitches, i need to click a few times to get what i want. Cons There is nothing that can be marked as negative when using this software, what I would criticize is that the "premium" function is very expensive for what it offers, there are other cheaper options in the market. But of course that must be under evaluation of each user to determine its real usefulness. I've been using it since 2013 and it has yet to fail me. Pros I use it for my marketing campaigns to track the clicks and where the clicks are coming from. It's very seamless deploying new campaigns and creating the tracking with bitly. I can create 10-20 shortlinks within minutes. Additionally I can edit the link if a typo or any other type of mistake slipped into my shortened URL Cons The UI is a bit hard to use and unintuitive. Bitly is great to refine tweets and neaten those lengthy links for a more professional look overall. Pros Bitly shortens (and neatens) links that would otherwise take up too much space in emails. I post on Twitter as part of my business and every character counts, so Bitly is a life saver for short Tweets! Cons In the past I used Bitly regularly without any issues, recently I was asked to create an account in order to continue to use the service. I did create an account and had no struggle since. Bitly offers other options that do not apply to us, but for the service that we do utilize, they have helped us optimize our marketing. Pros Bitly is a tremendous asset for our organization because of the ability it offers to reduce lengthy, bulky website addresses and trim them down to a minimal number of characters. We frequently send out surveys and organizational updates to our donors. Because of the method we use to create these updates, they are often 50+ characters long. In trying to send a link of this length in a text message, we were using the majority of the message to write the link address, which left us with very little ability to engage our audience with the message. Bitly solved this problem for us, giving us a way to maximize our message. Cons We have some donors and supporters who are suspicious of shortened links and are afraid they are being attacked with a virus. This invariably leads to multiple phone calls each time we utilize Bitly's service in which we have to assure our donors that the message did in fact come from us. However, this minor inconvenience is a small cost for the benefits of Bitly.
