I hate putting cons in here compared to how bad I consider their competition.
The other platforms we abandoned appear to have been developed by people that understood databases but not fundraising or the technical level of the people who would be using it.
People were frantically texting me asking me for a link to the auction or a QR code they could use and I had NO IDEA how to get that info.
The only thing I struggle with in BetterUnite is the reports, but they are currently working on completely revamping their reporting.

Overall: No-cost donor management, fundraising platform, easy connection to payments and mailchimp.
Pros: As a marketing consultant for nonprofits, I have spent many hours searching for a platform that will provide a robust donor CRM and also connect with fundraising and events. BetterUnite does all of that and more - at no cost to the organization!
Cons: Everything that I've thought that could be made better, I've contacted the Better Unite team and they've adjusted the platform or walked me through some alternate options - no complaints here!

Pros: I love that BetterUnite is a comprehensive fundraising platform with tools for everything; from managing silent auctions, tracking bids, and recognizing donors to event registration, check-ins, guest participation (both in-person and virtual), and more. It’s impressive how many advanced features are available for free to nonprofits. The onboarding process was excellent, and the support was top-notch, ensuring the success of our first hybrid fundraising event. Even for a small nonprofit like ours, with limited fundraising experience, we found it easy to manage tasks like automated communications with guests and generating tax-deductible receipts for auction winners.
Cons: The platform is very well-designed and can handle both simple and complex fundraising setups. However, initially, it took us a little time to fully understand how the payout process worked for the funds raised, but the support team quickly guided us through it and explained the process clearly.

Overall: It was great for our first donor management system. Since it was free, it allowed us the time to learn the system while not also racking up a monthly bill. We could learn at our own pace and not be pressing to get a ROI by using it too quickly without enough expertise
Pros: It was free and easy to use. Customer support very responsive and detailed once you got them on email. They have a library of commonly asked questions and answers
Cons: No live customer support. Submitting a ticket takes time to hear back for anything time sensitive.

Overall: We love BetterUnite. The entire team has been amazing to work with and the annual subscription rate is affordable for our non-profit.
Pros: The BetterUnite Team is very responsive and will work very hard to ensure we have everything we need to be successful. Their training is on point and is included in the package - not charged extra like other fundraising platforms.
Cons: I would like reporting to be more robust and have filters that will enable us to segment according to event, or according to fund. This is a work in progress.

Pros: It's an E2E solution that knowingly covers all the aspects of charity and fundraising events with easy to use interfaces. It connects to most major payment systems and is widely known as a fundraising platform.
Cons: I would like to see a commercial model where the client brings their own merchant processing solution using Authorize.net for example.
