Pros

As a lecturer in experience design, this is a wonderful tool for both myself and students. In a 12-week semester, with so much theory to cover, there is limited time that I can devote to introducing a platform. However the intuitive nature of UXPressia, its adaptability and the availability of so many customizable templates and video guides ensure students can quickly get up to speed, with limited direction from me. As the administrator, I feel confident knowing that any little hiccups or questions are always very quickly addressed by the friendly, online support team.

Cons

Perhaps some differently constructed persona templates? My students tend to copy the existing ones without really understanding the contents - sliders in particular.

Pros

The product offers amazing flexibility to customize the various project elements to the needs of my students. Additionally, the speed at which they are able to learn and utilize the tool is a testament to the UXPressia's usability.

Cons

Managing users is a difficult process within the educational context as you have to manually invite users and then manually delete each user. This process can be a little time consuming since this has to be done every term for 40+ users.

Reasons for choosing UXPressia

UXPressia's free pro account for educational use was a huge influence over my choice to use the tool, but the tool's depth, flexibility, and educational content were also important factors.

Pros

So easy to use- very simplistic whilst heuristic. Allows you to capture/ illustrate the customer clearly.

Easy to use out of the gate. It's clear the owner and staff have done their research in helping organizations get started and continue to iterate from the start.

Pros

I like that there are many templates to chose from in sectors and industries. You don't have to consider how to set up different possibilities with teams. Making research and/or assumptions explicit is easy. In addition, having recently added in an image library makes the process even easier.

Cons

Some of the cards are not adjustable. For example, skills in Personas is one block of five sliders that cannot be broken into individual cards, nor can the numbers be adjusted on a sliding scale. This is a small detail but if UXPressia dove into those areas of options, an excellent product would become even better.

The sliders don't have a fixed stop, and you can create your own rating system by customizing it. I teach 2nd year 156235 Social & Digital Mktg, 3rd year 156339 Omnichannel Retail Mktg, & Post-Grad 156756 Digital Mktg. Students have typically never worked at an agency or a business prior. UXPressia helps 'turn on' the students' understanding of a buyer persona, their interaction in the world, and provides a critical stepping stone to create integrated marketing campaigns. UXPressia brings research and data gathering together in a rich visual representation.

Pros

Easy to use and enable my digital marketing students to visualise the CJM prospective customers go on, and then clearly identify opportunities to improve processes or create content marketing pieces to potentially interact and improve touchpoint opportunities.

Cons

Minor bugs over the last 2 years that UXPressia were quick to fix. Otherwise, like any new tool, it took a while to become used to it. Videos you provide and case studies quickly speed up the learning curve.
