Pros: To state an opinion of AutoCad being as objective as you can is clearly a challenge, because it is very versatile software, with distinctive functionalities that adapt to many industries, but I will give it a try:

AutoCad has one of the most extensive tools set you can imagine, that allows to draft in a logical sense almost anything you could imagine through the space of your 'canvas'. From package design, to wire and pipes, props, Architecture, Interior and Industrial design and even Printed Circuit Board designs (Even though there are more efficient softwares for that one).

AutoCad is all about precision and logical designs that follow a mathematical pattern, even though it might be catered towards some specific fields, the possibilities are wide and you may find it useful for something you never really imagined that follows a specific rational arrangement, I could basically describe it as a digital technical drawing software with almost no limitations.

Once you get a grasp of the most basic tools, it is fairly easy to keep everything neat.

Cons: AutoCad is a very complex software, and learning how to use it is not precisely an easy task, sometimes just exploring the tools is not enough. I needed to do a few courses before I was able to get a grasp of it, and I am still far from being an expert. You usually adapt your learning curve towards what you are looking to do, since there is not necessarily a unique way to approach your designs, and the tools logical functionality might feel abstract if you are unable to understand them properly.

The uses you can give to the software are as ambiguous as how you use your tools, and it adapts to your needs but at the same time you have to be aware of keeping your designs coherency at all times.

I believe they should definitely enhance the printing area configuration; it still gives me a headache every time that I am trying to print a one page designs and I end up printing 4 divided sheets because of a misinterpreted printing setting.

You need a high-spec machine if you are planning to design in 3D, it consumes a lot of RAM memory and might slow down or heat up your computer.

Overall: As complex as AutoCad is, learning how to use it is a very rewarding experience when you start to achieve sleek designs.

Even though it takes time, I cannot really state that my experience is a negative one, for the contrary, the more I learn, the more excited I get.

AutoCad's difficulty is very well balanced out with the quality you are able to achieve within the software, and the wide possibilities it offers. Becoming an expert is a must have for many fields, it will surely open many doors.

Pros: AutoCAD has one of the most long standing reputations and extensive product line offerings, bearing out from the basic context of AutoCAD itself, into various takes on what merits a CAD professionalism in the context od many different specializations of CAD-related industries, from fashion, to prototyping, to architecture, to building facets of the construction, development, piping and wiring context of getting into the various takes on AutoCAD releases that feature specializations suited to assist the specialist drafting engineering architect in building development contexts outside of a notably commonplace notion of CAD for architecture, [as I'd come to expect, from experience], whereas the standard AutoCAD is feature-worthy and extensible enough to merit its use in any sort of professional details-and-measurements-driven usage of a need to have access to all steps created during the drafting process, in exacting measurement contexts of producing goods for manufacture, for example.

Cons: As an ambitious digital muti-media artist snd various cottage industries aspirant, of several various pursuits in life, CAD has proven to be somewhat high on the prior-education and prerequisites of knowledge spectrum, as far as a considerably ad hoc entrepreneurial common fare other digital multimedia areas of specialization would not particularly merit a sit down and first off considerable user basis of know how and mastery within a CAD software context. It's obviously good software, but the learning context of being able to appreciably produce a professional product for actual manufacturing specifications would take more learning experience than I've devoted to CAD.

Overall: I've assisted others in establishing a gig basis context, and perhaps an appreciable self-serving basis and context of establishing themselves in a profession of architecture and product design, for example, in which they've had some appreciable experience in, and willingness to devote time on their own, as it were, to establishing a professionalism occupation on the merits of their pre-established education that would suit them in acquiring AutoCAD professional user experience for their future jobs and creations in life.

Pros: AutoCAD is a great drafting tool that has some great built-in functions to assist the designer in efficiently designing and drafting engineering projects. The customization in AutoCAD allows for great consistency in drafting by having custom uniform text, styles, and general features (such as pipe networks, pressure networks, and profiles to name a few), though this customization can also be a detriment which I will mention below. The majority of the interface is designed for ease-of-use, having all of the commonly used features in the ribbon and on the taskbar, while retaining the text commands for quickly accessing features for more advanced users. AutoCAD has widespread compatibility in terms of files it is able to import and read, as well as output formats to other drafting softwares. As I use AutoCAD with the Civil 3D add-on, there are some very helpful 3-dimensional tools that make it easy to draft your intended design with ease and the functionality of having various levels of complexity such as 3-dimensional surfaces, 3-dimensional pipe networks, and all of the associated tools (roadway corridors, grading tools, and surface manipulation.) AutoCAD is an industry standard for a reason - it helps the designer to efficiently and effectively complete designs with a wide variety of tools and options.

Cons: Though AutoCAD offers some very useful tools, some of these tools are complex and there can be a steep learning curve for new users. The bulk of the issues encountered while using AutoCAD seem to happen on larger complex projects. For larger-scale projects where many different drawings and objects are referenced together, it is important for the user to understand efficient ways to link drawings and AutoCAD objects together to prevent file slow-downs and bloating of project files. The dreaded 'Fatal Error' is also not uncommon when working in larger complex projects, especially when using 3-dimensional functions in the software such as surface grading. As newer versions of the software cause older versions to become obsolete, it is crucial that you stay up-to-date with the newest version of AutoCAD if you are planning on collaborating with external parties or consultants. Ensure the machine you will be using AutoCAD on exceeds the minimum recommended software and hardware requirements, as it can be difficult to efficiently use this software on an under-powered computer.

Overall: As I use AutoCAD on a near-daily basis in the engineering field, it has become a tool that is second-nature while drafting and designing. While AutoCAD is an extremely effective tool to help designers and drafters to create drawings that look great and are easy to manipulate, it can struggle to handle heavy project workload with many 3-dimensional objects in one drawing; if you are able to plan and predict what a project will entail, you can plan your drawings accordingly to make sure that there isn't too much content in a single drawing which seems to cause this issue. As a leading tool for engineers, AutoCAD remains an excellent software for drafting and designing.

Pros: As a Cad Draftsman and 3d Designer, I have worked with Autocad in most of the time. It is useful for me to finish my deadline projects, save me a lot of time with the Sheet Set Manager function. When I didn't know about this function, I spent a lot of time to print the drawing files for my company, that's silly of me. I also love the Dynamic block, I really love it. If you didn't know about this Dynamic block function, let's try to discover it and you will see how it saved your life. But I think this function is not easy to use, I have to test it many times whenever I want to create Autocad items for my library.

The other function of Autocad that I love is purge function, I don't say about the normal purge function. I want to say about purge function for a large file, it's a big problem when you use the old versions. But if you use Autocad 2013-2014, you need to install AutoCAD_2013_2014_DGN_Hotfix into your computer. Thanks for God, Autocad company combined this function in the new version.

Cons: My biggest problem with Autocad is Dimension function in Layout. When I did dimension in layout, the value was often changed automatically, for example from 250mm to 250,000mm. I didn't know why? I tried to many times to find out the reason, but I didn't succeed. Many people have the same problem like me. We really got stuck. If someone knows how to solve it, please tell me, I really appreciate it.

The other problem is print in Model. When I need to print multi-drawing in Model I have to use a script, the Sheet Set Manager only works with Layout.

Pros: I feel good exploring the tools of the program. Currently I like to use the PlotPDF tool that converts the pdf into lines and makes the drawings can be drawn in a more comfortable way. I am an architect and I recommend the program to all the people who work with me.

Cons: What I do not like about the program is that in each new version I do not know the added functions. The autodesk company should have an indicator with notifications indicating the new tools and commands that were added. In addition to that the steps to test the new commands. I would like to start a new version of AutoCAD with new tools notifications and view sample videos within the model.

Overall: The benefits that I obtained with this software was the development of architectural projects in a short time. With good appearance and better image when I'm going to present it to clients.and not only use it for architecture but for my daily tasks, make drawings, figures for my friends, to cut and print graphic design forms. A few days ago I was teaching two people to make lines, polygons, curves in autocad. My two friends loved the tool, and are willing to take a course to explore the program. My two friends want to learn to get a job as an architectural draftsman and work as people for their children.

The tool is very versatile, and friendly to the public. Without a doubt it is one of the best software that they have been able to invent. Every day I am surprised more of the things that I can do in that program. For now the only difficulty has been making 3d modeling with the three-dimensional version of autocad, because I still have trouble knowing which tools I can use and which I can not. Also my computer is not adapted so that the program can work properly and runs out of memory space. In the next few years I hope to get the opportunity to produce more money and install the current version of that year, and learn how to use the 3D tool of this program well. On some occasions I tried to make renders in that program and I have trouble adjusting all the lights. The photographs are dark or unclear. I would like to learn with some autodesk videos about how to manage the program in the right way to get along better in this category.

I feel that in the future the autodesk company will have so many tools integrated into the program that they will not be able to resist, all the companies should have laptops with this program. Not only as a means of work, but as part of your lifestyle. For example, I benefit from doing my work as an architect and other extra jobs that have to do with furniture design. Currently autocad is the only tool with which I develop better. The time that I can spend designing and drawing is infinite, because I have a lot of fun trying out alternatives for clients. In addition you can save them in different formats, and the client can check it from his computer without having to go to my office. We can have long conversations about the different options and autocad lets me keep it comfortably as I want. This is one of the most important tools in the area of design and architecture.

Pros: The main pro about this software is its precision on drawings, models and any architectural, engineering, urban, mechanical and other kind of projects you need to make on it. You can use it on many work fields due to its versatility and operativity.

Another thing that I love about this software is that you can work with archives of another softwares by only importing them, and you can export on another formats too; besides, you can select the year version of its native format so you can work with previous versions of this software, increasing the productivity among colleagues.

AutoCAD has been a great support to my academic developement, and I'm seriously thinking about using this program in my professional practice; I would strongly reccommend it to those who are students of architecture, engineering, industrial and interior design and another careers.

This software has been the best choice since I've tried it for the first time.

It's a must on any construction and design company.

Go ahead and use AutoCAD!

Cons: One of the things I like least about this software is the fact that its interface is a little bit confusing sometimes, and it could be complex too if you misconfigure it; even though there are configuration buttons, sometimes they are confusing or they hide another things and drives you to desperation on how to find some things. So, my recommendation to the software programmers or developers is that they must find a way to make things a bit easier to the users in that matter.

Pros: The experience I have with the Autocad is with the preparation of floor plans, facades and housing location. It has been very easy to handle with geometric figures, lines, arcs, circles, triangles; also allows to change the thickness, lengthen or cut the lines or edges of the figures, fill figures with solid colors or textures. It allows me to make the plans on a scale and print it with another scale greater or less than the one designed. Also, it allows drawing with details of sanitary pieces, hydraulic and electricity equipment. It makes presentations in 2d and 3d which gives an overview of the real design of the house, piece or equipment inside and outside. In addition, you can work multiple windows, copy images from one window to another, copy images from different files, you can export documents, tables and images from other software.

Cons: From this software it is difficult for me to work with different windows, and to select the printing area, for that I adjust the properties of the printer, which makes the printing slower. In addition, I find it difficult to work in three-dimensional planes. In this case, I make two plans one of the floor and another with cuts that show the heights of the walls or facades. It requires computers and monitors with higher requirements, for large plans plotters are needed; however, the plans can be adjusted to small printers, but the letters and numbers are so small that anyone can not read them.

Overall: The benefits I have received with this software have been: Being an engineer, he worked in the engineering area, especially in the area of civil engineering and architecture; I am dedicated, mostly to elaborate housing plans, as well as land location. It saves me a lot of time, because it allows to make modifications before printing, which I could not do manually, also, when the floor plans are the same, this can create copies and make the electrical, mechanical drawings without having to do the plan again. Also, since many planes are the same, those pieces can be copied from one plane to another, details that are required. You can rotate the plane, do 3D, change line thicknesses, color, add plants, vehicles to create the final design environment. It allows me to work from my house, and send the plans by mail at no cost. Previously, I had to print and mail physical plans or CDs. Make the details, at the scale of your preference and with all your minimum accessories. The presentation of the plans are of higher quality and precision and reliability. Also used to make figures for billboards, designed billboards with real dimensions. You can export and import images between softwares.

Pros: It presents a versatile interface that allows users to adapt the menu bars to their most frequent uses, since in AutoCAD converge engineers, geographers, surveyors, surveyors, architects, interior designers, graphic designers, artists of computer animation, among others as well as the respective students and professors of the mentioned areas.

Over the years they have improved the drawing commands and transformed them into simple commands to those that we had to develop by programming or repeating sequences to the users of the versions of the 90s and the first decade of 2000.

It offers many facilities for the management of a great diversity of functions, with very variable scales of representation that vary from 1: 1 to 1: 25,000, adjusting to the needs of the clients.

The printing of products made in AutoCAD are very easy to use, as long as you have basic knowledge of scale of representation, pen handling and intentions of the scales of colors and thicknesses.

You can save the data as a pdf file, where you maintain the ability to turn off or turn on layers of information. additional to this you can also export your products to the universal dxf exchange formats or as dgn.

On the other hand, you can manage information collected by means of UAVs, total station or topographic survey, data that will present the height values required for the 3D interface.

You can download the product and manage the acquisition of the license online.

Cons: The 3D interface that offers a lot of similarity to the animation programs consumes a lot of graphic memory, the resources of the PC are compromised in the 3D files that have a lot of detail.

Autocad does not work on open source operating systems, it only deploys on Windows and MAC.

The users must know the fundamentals of pluggins, topology and scale, otherwise they will invest many hours in solving the errors caused.

The cost of the license is high compared to other solutions, without underestimating those of open source, where some have taken giant steps to cover the basic needs of users.

the management of the topology and the relationship of the entities drawn depend on the expertise of the user, there is no basic guide that allows you to reduce the load of erroneous data due to ignorance. The program requires a PC with good configuration, since it has innumerable functions that you may never use.

Overall: Through AutoCAD I was able to load data in a GIS by exporting the DWG files, drawings that were made in 1990 but have not been updated and that were required as a cartographic basis for updating the cartography of the small cities of Venezuela. From this process I have been able to make risk mitigation proposals, based on the unmodified topography of the time, they remain in force and that nowadays, it is very expensive to make a new capture.

I also collaborated on a project where the parcel survey of several poor areas in Caracas was updated, everything was processed in AutoCAD and linked with photographs and legal documents through attributes management. The program is robust enough to accept around 10,500 links in a multiscale file, neighborhood, block, plot, floor.

AutoCAD can interact with many apps ranging from basic photography to databases and word processing.

The facility provided by AutoCAD, to import and export data makes it a fundamental tool in the processes of capture, editing, processing and maintenance of spatial data, the Drawing app is superior to the GIS.

Pros:

It really is too useful and has too many functionalities in addition to many ways to do the same thing, so you just have to find the way that best suits you. For me it was not at all easy to use it at the beginning, it's like you open the program and it overwhelms you all there, but once you have it is extremely easy to use. Honestly it is a very extensive program and has additional extensions that you can add later for your particular use. There are functions that only civil engineers use, there are functions that only mechanical engineers or electrical engineers use, so I think it is very difficult to use the program in its gigantic totality, but that should not overwhelm you. Honestly it is not necessary to take a course to learn how to use it, on the internet this is all you need and after you understand it, it will be the best specialized drawing program you will find.

Cons: share the drawings and the different versions you have, because if you save a file in a version, it can not be displayed on another computer with an earlier version, so if you have the latest version, you should always remember to save the file in a format the previous versions. And Plotting a plane and the scales, that process should be more intuitive, it can really become a nightmare to move from the screen to the paper.

Overall: I used AutoCAD throughout my university career and in the professional and labor fields. As a civil engineer, this is a program that you use almost daily.

Pros: I like it, because this program has extensive editing capabilities, which make digital drawing of building plans possible, fundamental in any study of architectural design or industrial engineering, making large structures with all their phases, giving different views of the plane, that allows to obtain the sanitary installations, electrical installations, distribution of beams in the roof, the landscaping and even the location of the distributions of the space with the furniture that occupies it. The divisions, thickness of walls, width and height will have the exact measurement as raised in the place of the building, each part will have its measure, as well as the location of objects that will be part of the project, all this in function of a better distribution of space. In the same graphic template several proposals can be made and in it can be opened tabs to carry out the specific design of the sanitary parts, electrical parts, part of the roof, part of beams, facades, among others, obviously each structure must be expressed from separate form.

Cons: The bad thing is that the program requires a good and powerful computer since they always add new features every time a new version comes out and it is heavier in each new version, I firmly believe that we have to have more resources in our computers to be able to solve adequate.

Pros: It allows me to digitize plans quickly and safely, I can identify each element on the plane by creating its attributes individually. I can also associate the information with an existing database. Your final product is generally compatible with other CAD programs. For the cartographic production it is excellent, since I can easily manipulate all the symbols and regroup them on the map individually. I can create geometric figures keeping the independence between them. When I digitize maps I can differentiate each of the cartographic elements, I can digitize them with satellite images and with maps. I can use database and associate it with the elements of the map without altering the information. From the digitized data and the attributive information I can produce cartographic maps with excellent marginal information and complying with the basic norms for the creation of cartographic maps and plans at scales of anything that one wants to represent, such as pipes, houses, shopping centers, buildings, etc.

Cons: It takes a lot of memory on the computer for processing. The acquisition of the license is very expensive. It is portable to us. High performance computers are required to work comfortably. It does not allow the georeferencing of satellite images. I think the hatch feature needs some tweaking. Often times the program won't hatch, thinking my lines don't meet up when in fact they do. Sometimes the dimension lines can interfere with the hatch reading the lines correctly.

I first used AutoCAD in early 2000 and have like the improvements sinc

Pros: I use this software for drafting and every drawing need a draft. Another feature is to import file and this file get a picture and trace out that picture and drawing. I have seen it used for things like creating blueprints for buildings, bridges and computer chips to name a few. AutoCAD is 2D and 3D computer aided drafting software application and this makes it easy sometimes I will edit with pencil after doing a print.

Cons: I really dont have much bad to say about Autocad as the application has gotten better over time the only thing I would just say is the performance and compatibility with RAM and the memory you need free on your computer. Also, the updates from Autodesk are a little tedious and can slow down your performance but you then only need to downgrade your service packs and problem fixed

Pros: Working in AutoCAD is much easier than working on paper. We saved a lot of time and it's much simpler than that. Doing it by hand can be tedious and we also have to consider our prolixity when it comes to doing it on a sheet.

As Autodesk is launching new versions, they do not change much with respect to the previous ones so that the user does not have to update to something completely unknown. The latest versions are very similar, except that they add new small functions.

The configuration to print a drawing in AutoCAD in different formats is very easy. There are many formats included and we can adjust colors, margins, layers, among many other aspects.

AutoCAD has been linked to multiple platforms, with the benefit of being able to export and import files of all kinds. For example, we can bring an image or a block to the software, among other applications.

Cons: The main disadvantage is the high cost of the program, since the license costs a few dollars.

Knowing how to use the software fully requires a lot of time since there are many functions that are not so well known, and even that they are of little application, since they are very specific.

It requires a very powerful computer to work with the latest versions (especially in 3D). At least 2GB of RAM, 2GHz processing speed, and a space greater than 100GB on the hard drive.

If we make an object in 3D, with many details, brightness settings, brightness, details of materials, for the best commercial computer we have, it usually slows down a lot. There are better software to make 3D drawings that are more sophisticated, with more functions and that do not slow down so much when working with a very heavy file.

Overall: With autocad I learned to design with a computer, I learned to model, I learned CAD, it was my initial school.

Great software with a huge capacity for drafting.

Pros: AutoCad can be used easily to draft in many types of industry. As an architect this is my standard Cad software, I use AutoCad daily to make architectural projects, construction plans, reviews, make presentations, export drawings to other programs, etc. With its useful tools and commands as, layer, types of lines, styles, printing scales is quicker and easy to draft all my ideas and then fill them with all the information that the project require. I can handle all this information very organized and make corrections easily when I needed. AutoCad also offers preciseness which can be always used in the calculations of the project.

Cons: I use AutoCad for my Architecture projects, which is a field that requires a lot of graphic vision. Maybe AutoCad could advance in the field of aesthetic options, more hatch and patterns for example. Also, the hatch often gives me errors and it's a bit difficult to apply or tend to lag at times. It's not very good when it comes to just making 3D Rendering, I have to definitely use another program to do it.

Another disadvantage is that AutoCad is being relegated by BIM programs specially Revit in which you can handle more information in the model and easily make modifications on the file.

It is a software that we use for the design of our products, with which we draw our solutions.

Pros: I like the almost unlimited options you have to draw. I like the numerous menus of options that it has, as well as its automatic adaptation for each case. The use of a command line to manage the software makes it easier to use and therefore its use. Easily integrates with resources and files from other applications. Its integration with other programs of the autodesk suite, makes its use in the design of engineering projects almost indispensable. Its precision is remarkable. The integration for the use of this software for the handling of the plotters and equipment of exit helps notably in the operation of production.

Cons: I do not like that it has limitations to handle more than 600 thousand points. When we have needed to manage several .dwg files of different versions, the software can be fragile, it hangs up or it just comes out. The availability of help on errors is not so good. The network licensing system, for the moment of its activation must be easier to activate in the work stations. The management of vectorized images is not as powerful as it can fail faster if this number of images are larger when they are in the same plane and that is a problem. External references can be more versatile and easier to handle and even for different network locations and protocols.

Pros: I like the fact that this software is used by so many different users and businesses across industry. Most of the time, if an associate cannot have access to the more expensive 3D platforms, they will more than likely have access to ACAD.

Another great point is that it is always backwards compatible, so no matter what version the other parties are working in, I can still save my drawings in an older version format for them.

Cons: The software has been evolving over the last 20 years as I have been using it. Some changes have been good, others have been an attempt to keep up with other popular 3D packages. This has led to some very complicated tasks but most importantly, the software seems to get clunky and use up a lot of processing power and memory when installed. A small price to pay to have the daddy of them all available to you.

Overall: It just keeps you in the loop, allows you to view drawings from a wide range of industries from construction to architecture to engineering, all freely able to collaborate on the same platform.

Pros: Autocad is a more than capable designing tool, it features hundreds of different options that guarantee an outstanding overcome in any architectural or general object or space design project you might face. As a non-professional designer, I have found it very convenient to use this powerful software. It might be a little complicated to get the handle of ir at first, eventually becomes a necessary tool for completing complex 3d-2d drawings, Moreover, thanks to its sleek presentation (especially if you count on a powerful pc, which is my case), three dimension projects can be seen with superb level of detail, facilitating the display of each one of the elements that althogueter make up the construction in general, as well as the planning and execution phases of the projects as well. AutoCAD has proven to b immensely relevant for me because it allows to be more efficient, time and money wise, since I do not really need to hire other professionals for the completion of my projects.

Another cool feature of this software is how well presented it is, offering a wide set of options to work in the preview, I can work on the frame, the legend, the graphic scale, just to name a few, I can even insert several images, according to my needs.

Cons: Considering its nature, this software might be a little complicated to use for newcomers or amateurs in the field of architecture. Plus, its price might be a little high for some people as well. However, these are not serious issues.

Overall: I truly think that no other program in the market nowadays offers what autocad does, its tridimensional design options can really make up for its high cost and somehow complicated usage options, Nevertheless, every time I have the options of creating accurate detailed objects, well delineated, with desired backgrounds and colors, I feel that I really hav the appropriate tool.

Pros: It has several advantages among these are the following:

In my own experience when I met this program being a university, I found it was time-saving, since once you learn how to use it, you can make plans more easily and quickly. It has many functions for different areas of engineering, such as mechanical, civil or electrical, electronic, metallurgical, which makes it very broad software, apart from being very dynamic, it is only with a tutorial that you start using it. It is not necessary to take a course or diploma, It uses command and codes and buttons and is very friendly at the beginning. The design software replaces the drawings by hand with automated processes.

Cons: One of the biggest disadvantages is:

You must have a computer with high memory capacity, because if you have many drawings or designs, this program will be slow at the time of operation.

The program has a high cost, due to its license.

Knowing how to use the software fully requires a lot of time since there are many functions, and even that they are of little application, since they are very specific.

AutoCAD can not edit the line and location as freely as the edition programs-- illustration and overlapping lines and line thicknesses are limited to a few options.

Overall: Contains associative arrays, point cloud tools, active geographic and cartographic location, enhanced interface, ribbon gallery, help window, intelligent dimensioning, coordination model, image-based lighting environments, import of pdf files, share design views, Autodesk writing application, lines and brands of smart centers, Autocad 360 Pro mobile application. And most importantly, you will use an excellent easy work tool, practice to create, read, and modify designs in your workplace and it will be very useful.

Pros: The only pros about it is that everyone uses it so it can be used to open drawings from other firms.

Cons: It is not fully compatible with free-cad or Draftsight applications, it will give an error message saying the file was not created by an Autocad application even though there is nothing wrong with it and the file opens fine after closing the warning box. The biggest problem is sending files to people with earlier versions of CAD, they make it where you have to either buy a new copy of Autocad each year or the people sending the file have to save it down to your Autocad version. They have also eliminated or made it difficult to have auto-cad classic view instead of the ribbon. The new Xref manager is horrible unless you remember to type xrefclassic. The newest versions are also slow even on the newest PCs with core i7 processors and higher amounts of RAM.

Overall: Too many clients need to have you save it down to a previous version. It is harder to customize than the older versions of CAD or Autocad alternatives.

Pros: -You can use it on many work fields due to its versatility.

-You can work with archives of another softwares by only importing them, and you can export on another formats too.

-Its reccommend to those who are students of engineering and other careers similar.

-It easy to handle with lines, geometric figures, arcs.

-It allows to change the thickness, lengthen or cut the lines or edges of the figures

-It fill figures with solid colors or textures.

-It allows me to make the plans on a scale and print it with another scale greater or less than the one designed.

-In addition, you can work multiple windows, copy images from one window to another, copy images from different files, you can export documents, tables and images from other software.

-You can save the data as a pdf file

-It complete all the basic requirement to work in 2d.

Cons: -Its interface is a little bit confusing sometimes

-Autocad work on Windows and MAC.

-You must have a small notion of how the program work, if not, you couldn't start even to make a line.

-You could know the basic with a tutorial when you install the program, but you will be more successful if you are take classes

-You have to know something about design to use this software, this a specialize software, the set of feature are huge but if you do not know anything about design you won´t know how to use this software.

-It is not suited for 3D beacause it requires high-quality computer hardware that can be costly and the people need to be trained how to use the software that also can be expensive.

Pros: They have useful commands to make the drawing, such as: points, lines, circles, rectangles and allows to join them with precision. You can move the objects, copy them, make symmetries and place them in another position. With this program, third-dimensional designs are made and realistic renderings are made. You can print on different scales and make detailed plans.Blocks of parts of the drawing are created, to later copy and paste them when required.

Cons: It requires a computer with a lot of memory to make renders, it is not compatible with other design programs, such as Skepchup, since when importing it, you have to revise the scale.

Overall: It allows me to make the design of offices, construction projects and details of works that I apply in my daily work. I can modify them, add new areas and use them as bases for new designs and it facilitates the work in the work, since when printing it in the appropriate scale it can be interpreted by the technical personnel in the construction.

Pros: It is a program that contains everything, everything that is needed in it, it can be used for a professional level of architecture or design of any kind, the new updates are very good. the 3D CAD program offers 3D modeling and visualization features and functionalities.

Cons: What I do not like is that the prices are outside a reasonable range. Also now with monthly or annual payments, are limiting the use of this application, which in many occasions are for university users who are starting their career and do not have the money to acquire this program.

Yes, they have different license quotas for each type of person, but even the most basic one is an expensive thing to do annually

Overall: The program on many occasions is not very efficient, the updates have made the program much heavier and it uses many requirements that can be indispensable, it can help a lot to try to make the program not use many resources so that it can be of better use.

Pros: The capabilities of the software are just endless. Starting with the possibility of being able to draw with accurate measurements, and then scale it as much as you want with annotative scales, up to being able to create 3D Models. This software is almost essential for every architect or industrial designer because there are just a few similar softwares out there in the market, and non of them do what AutoCAD does, you can change layering, apply text, dimensions, surfaces, solids, meshs, you can do xrefs, etc etc.

Cons: The only cons that I have experienced, is that this is not a BIM software, and now architectural firms are using BIM more and more. So, you're not going to be able to get everything done just by modeling your project. However, Revit from AutoDESK (the same company that created AutoCAD) is BIM and actually is pretty awesome to work with.

Overall: Endless benefits

Pros: I like autocad because it offers a set of work tools that guarantee a professional quality work, because it allows to design a series of details in the plans and objects necessary for the execution of work.

is an excellent program for the design of plans and objects of innovative character that allows to make continuous modifications until reaching the ideal design for the client.

has the ability to make designs with colors, diverse views, and exact measurements.

I like the tool in three dimensions because it allows to show the client a design with precise detail, being very important to satisfy their needs.

Cons: I do not like the program because it is difficult to use that requires an hour of dedication for learning that allows you to design plans and objects of professional quality. I consider that if they make adjustments in the tools with aims that all the professionals and not only for engineers and architects, I am sure that it would be easier to use.

Overall: Autocad is a tool that we have used for the projection of ideas in planes and objects in three dimensions, before starting the execution of the distribution plans of the sewing machines in the plant, or modifications in the structures and infrastructures we carry out the design in autocad to define the strategies to be taken.

the use of autocad to project the ideas before starting now allows resources because you invest in the planned and verified but not in ideas without technical foundation.

I've been using AutoCAD for decades both in electrical design.

Pros: I was able to sit with a book and teach myself enough of the capabilities of this product to get a job. It is intuitive and flexible. Once I was at that job, we were able to customize the product to meet our specific needs. It can do just about anything you need it to. There are capabilities that advance users can access that don't get in the way of other users.

Cons: It's a bit too expensive for us to give copies to everyone that could use it, so we give it to those who need it. It would be nice to be able to give it to more folks in the office, but I understand that to keep the software up to date and continuing to develop, they need to income. Just because I understand it doesn't mean I like it. :)

Overall: We're able to take drawings from other designers, to integrate their info with ours. With the software, we're able to quickly incorporate our information into the drawing packages that we send out.

Pros: It is an unbelieaveable complete program. If you require a professional drawing for ay type of project, you can be sure that this program has all the necessary tools to make such drawings.

It's interface has a graphical representation of all the tools the program has, and they are organized in a very intuitive way, which is helpful for any person who is a beginner with the program.

It also has a feature that allows you to use any tool by typing the command assigned to such tool. Which is a huge help for any skilled user of the program, specially when you want to be time-efficient.

Cons: It might be a little difficult for any person beginning with the program, but with plenty practice you can be a very skilled plan drafter.

Overall: It helped me through my studies for my Civil Engineering degree. And it is an important tool to use during my daily work.

Pros: As far as the drafting tool is concerned, it is unmatched and definitely most popular one. Fast, reliable and precise. In the architectural work it's great for making quick underlays for further 3D processing in BIM software. The 3D modeling is quite complex with all the coordinate system setup but AutoCAD is very good to create precise 3D models from technical documentation.

It keeps compatibility between different versions. The integration with other Autodesk software is very good.

Cons: The next new versions follow very quickly so yours gets outdated quite fast. There are some very good ideas from other CAD software vendors, and I'd love to have them implemented in next versions of AutoCAD. Better research and listening to the requests of users would be desired.

Overall: I've created a lot of big to small scale successful projects.

Pros: As an architecture student, I need to take my projects to the digital projection and AutoCad allows me to link with other programs to better visualize and present it. In addition, its functions are totally useful for those of us who are in this profession. It allows to include text, delimit, make cuts and others. Like all programs, it requires knowing the commands and thus be able to obtain better results when drawing.

Cons: Sometimes for having so much information and including more and more layers in the drawing makes it a bit slow to load, but also due to the capacity of the computer (Laptop or desktop) where this program is installed, the rest is great help and with the right license, correct handling is the best that can be possessed to design and design the design in dimensional and three-dimensional form.

Pros: It is very flexible and can be all things to all people. There are a dozen different ways to do everything, some are easier than others, some are just user preference. Overall this is a strong program that has matured well from the early days. There are very few bugs and nothing major. Bug fixes are usually handled quickly by AutoDesk.

Cons: It is a complex program to learn. It takes a great deal of time to learn to use all of the features. Truth be told most users only use a fraction of the features available to them.

Overall: AutoCAD is a great highly versatile piece of software. It is highly customizable. There are a multitude of third party applications that can be added on to get a custom feel without being a programmer. This is not a sit down a sit down and start drawing type of software. It takes time to learn but once learned it becomes an extension of the user.

Pros: I have been using AutoCAD for many years now and have seen the way the software has progressed over the years. What I like most about this software is the cutting edge and ahead of its time design tools that it makes available to its users. It has so many features and options that possibilities for designs are almost limitless. It is hard to get stuck when designing or drawing using this tool as there are many different ways that the software can be used to achieve desired end results and in this way sort of caters to individual user design preferences and ways of developing a design which can be quite subjective.

Cons: There isn't anything much I dislike about this software. The only downside I would say for me personally is that sometimes with complex design in different views, the software might get a little glitchy, as in some lines seems to "flash" or appear and disappear as the model is being rotated, but once stationary everything shows up perfectly fine. This could be just a matter of refresh rate, but again this is not a huge deal and does not take away from the value of this product as a whole.

Pros: It is a very precise software for 2D drawing, ideal to design from small objects to large projects, its commands are very efficient, being able to work in layers allows you to work more efficiently, line thicknesses are very useful for the presentation of projects since they give a very good image to the results of the plans. Although it is a bit complex to learn it, the layout is incredibly useful for mounting presentations in different formats and scales.

Cons: Your 3d modeler has not left me at all satisfied, neither in its previous versions nor in the most current, has inefficient commands and there are other tools in the market that are more accessible and give you much more professional and optimal results. 3d modeling is slow and unpleasant when using it.

Pros: There' re three thing I like about the software, the built in database of electric installations, architecture standards and pre elaborated blocks, the ease of adapting more personalized formats and the possibility of generating views in three dimensions (3D) with their rendering finished of a project

Pros: Robust linking and organization tools. File formats that are easily transferred to other programs. Relatively simple UI.

Cons: Performance issues abound. This program uses more RAM and CPU power than it has the right to. A lot of freezing and hang-ups even on beefy machines.

Some very frustrating UI decisions and limitations with commands.

Overall: This program is on the out in terms of office use, but it has proven pretty reliable. The drafting tools are adequate and fulfill most of the challenges when assembling a drawing. There are some major gaps and omissions with the tools when compared to other programs like Rhino.

Performance issues are the biggest road block that Autodesk hasn't seemed to iron out over the lifetime of the product. It still chugs and freezes at inopportune times, particularly between model and paper space.

Pros: It has a great variety of commands that I think are perfect for the development of projects in 2 dimensions, some commands are very efficient and make the drawing work much easier, the files are very light and working in layers and thicknesses of lines improves the performance of the software.

The polyline tool is perfect for the work of projects with many lines and vertices.

Cons: The 3d modeling was useless, the commands are very little elaborated in that area of project development, some commands must be improved to draw on the z axis to draw contour lines easily from a 2d view.

Overall: It is really a very useful software, also its dwg format is very versatile to import it to other complementary softwares, it is very precise to measure and work with very rigorous metric parameters.

Pros: AutoCad Is a program that allows you to represent all types of projects with accuracy, it is perfect for calculating spatial measurements in three dimensions. I can be used for any type of desing projects.

Also, the interface configuration allows me to handle colors that affect visual exposure less.

Cons: In general:

I use commands to do any modeling operation, so I think the interface of the buttons is a bit useless, hiding it and showing it only for special cases. It is a bit annoying

In particular:

The divide operation (DIV) does not have the same logical sequence of other operations. It should work with the same logic, such as Trick (TR) or Extender (EX)

Overall: I used autocad during all my academic preparation, and it is essential for any architecture company.

Pros: What i like the most about this software is that it base his sistem on the basic of the desing so, all you need is to have a bit of spacial habilities and start create. Also this tool can be used for engineering (in all his fields), architecture, earth ciencs, and show visualy what do you want to create. You have many propieties about starting a desing, that you can play with you options until you can adapt him to you proyect.

You can change your platform for working, and put the background in a color you prefer, and put the pointer bigger or smaller, depends on what you want.

Cons: may be what i don't like about autocad, is when you start to using the program if that if you don't have a small notion of how the program work you couldn't start even to make a line. you could know the basic with a quicker tutorial when you install the program, but you only have all the codes and comands and new buttons, that can be tricky to use at the very begining.

Overall: i started to use Autocad when i was doing an internship about mining engineering, and need to create a flowchart about a mineral processing plant, so i start to create everything since cero. Thanks to that, i begin to develop habilities with the diferent tool that autodesk offer and got important jobs for me and my experience career.

with hard work i can create topographies plans, flowcharts, develop of a mining front of production or development, also structures for the office or mining processing plants, all that habilities and a lot more make me stand out for my name and my career.

Comments: This is a must have in your tool box. There are other programs out there that may do the "same thing" however, they will not have the seamless process of sharing drawings for one company to the next. Everyone has Autocad. Everyone. You should to. It is a must for your work flow.

Pros: AutoCad can do anything you need it to do. Also it is know world wide and in the drafting community it is the top program to use. Plenty of support both from the company as well as individuals who teach shortcuts/methods online.

Cons: While Autocad is world wide and know throughout the drafting community, it is a program that you need to be properly trained. You can try to learn it by your self, however you will be more successful if you are take classes and join yourself with others in that learning process.

Pros: Power makes drawings in 2D by layers and how easy it is to manipulate the basic options to be able to draw in the program.

The simplicity to be able to scale the drawings and convert them to PDF files to print them.

Cons:

Your level of complexity to make pieces in 3D and then get the different views.

It is also a program that is not compatible with other CAD programs that are not from the same company.

In autocad you can not simulate effort states or animations of the 3D pieces that are made, where it is also difficult to assemble a set of pieces to form a single one.

Overall: I managed to make several plans, which were required in the different subjects studied in my mechanical engineering career and thus be able to deliver a design or projects with all their detailed plans.

Pros: It uses precise measurements and Autocad has been a leader in the design field for many decades. Although google sketchup may seem intuitive etc for quick sketches to throw around, Autocad is very precise and works from a measurement perspective. Mech, Civil and other engineers should be using this or Solidworks etc.

Cons: It is pricey, and the installation files may force you to use and store projects in only certain folders. Also files are not cross compatible with other platforms and even other versions of same software so as 3D printing becomes more ubiquitous, the user has to be aware of the right format to share during collaborations.

Overall: My firm got all the benefits, I personally just got to design cool looking things.

Pros: It's efficient, simple and widely used among other disciplines in the industry. I appreciate that Autodesk offered free education version which helps graduated students to catch up faster in their professional life. It's easy to learn and satisfied most of the tasks that I required Autocad to do.

Cons: Can't seem to tell the difference between each upgrade. Hatch is still pretty bad and sometimes printed funny. Sometimes I still relies on lisps to resolve my issues. Feel like AutoCAD is a bit stagnant while Revit is catching up so fast. Stilll experiencing mild hiccups in editing blocks and switching paper space.

Overall: It's an industrial standard software. It's important in doing quick draft and communication with other construction disciplines.

Comments: Overall we have used Autocad for several years and have found that despite its small flaws, it is still far in away one of the best options for almost any of our clients cad work. The current build does fix many if not all of the issues we have encountered previously.

Pros: Excellent and much improved interface from last version we used (2011) , also, use of 360 app makes cross platform workflow very easy and effective.

Cons: Crashes still occur, not as often as with previous versions of Autocad, but its still a slight issue. We have had to set our autosave to far shorter intervals to ensure data isn't lost once a drawing is in process. This is fine for simper line plans but some of our 3D models and parts become slower to work with due to the save happening more often.

Comments: I think most A/E firms will need to use AutoCAD even if they invest in and use another program for the bulk of their work. Improving the intuitive use would go a long way to keeping it around and attracting new users.

Pros: I like that it is so widely used. I've worked in different regions which rely on various software, but everywhere and almost everyone knows how to minimally navigate AutoCAD. I do wish that most A/E firms would move to a product like Revit, but until that happens it is nice that there is a common platform available to all at a reasonable price.

Cons: There is still a lot of technical and finicky controls that are not easily navigable to the average consumer. AutoCAD is potentially powerful, but many of those capabilities are "hidden" from the typical user. Revit may be expensive, but the added investment is worth it as you can put so much information into your model. In Revit, once the 3D model is built, it offers so much more in terms of information and interactivity and I believe it is far superior in putting together a coordinated drawing package quickly and easily.

Pros: The software is somewhat intuitive and allows even novice users to prepare drawings with only limited experience. The software also allows experienced users to create professional drawings for conceptual as well as building uses in a short span of time. Required drawing revisions/changes are also easily performed and can be reverted should the need arise.

Cons: Sometimes the software will get bogged down making the drawing process slow and tedious. This is usually corrected by saving and restarting the program. The software also has major updates every few years usually requiring the users to have to search the help document or the program to learn where certain features are now accessible.

Pros: 1. A good choice for computer-aided mechanical design.

2. You have the opportunity to verify your 3d designs so that each detail matches what is going to be manufactured.

3. Availability of several formats for printing the plans.

4. Your files can be used by 3D printers and thus carry out the manufacture of the products.

5. Its interface is very friendly. Certainly you need practice to know the advantages of each function and how they operate.

6. As a project engineer, allows you to have control of your projects and work in conjunction with your work team.

Cons: 1. It is slow if you are working with complex 3d designs.

2. Sometimes the program is closed or hangs up and some of the plans are lost.

3. It is an expensive program.

4. Although there are some free licenses for universities, they expire after a certain time. For universities in developing countries it is very hard to afford licenses. Therefore, so many engineering students do not have an opportunity to have a deep approach with the program.

Being an architect my experience with autocad is very good. It is very easy to learn.

Pros: it complete all the basic requirement to work in 2d. It has auto specification check feature , It has reduced time to design as drafting take alot of time . It offers easy reuse of the designs , The costly mistakes in the design or the production can be avoided , And you can modify the existing ideas that saves the time

Cons: it is not suited for 3D as it has fewer options ., It requires high-quality computer hardware that can be costly .The people need to be trained how to use the software that also adds to the costs , And it requires a PC

Overall: Any changes in manually drafted paper drawings would require the draftsman to draw the drawing again. But in autocad we do the changes in the same drawing and save the time.

Pros:

It is an effective tool for the professional and student architecture, engineering and basic drawing, has extensive editing capabilities that allow the user an exact and optimal design, its interface is very pleasing to the eye and has multiple options to select the same command, allows printing in different scales and formats to suit the user

Cons:

It is an oversized program, that is, it has a large number of little-known and unused commands, depending on the large number of designs made in the same file, this system creates obstacles in the system that do not allow its continuous use, at the risk of generating errors that close the program without previous saved

Pros: ideal to make plans 2d all the work of drawing of architecture is done very fast and efficiently the commands allow you to solve complex shapes and streamline drawings of greater difficulty, the 2d interfaces is very clear and precise to quickly learn the use of software

Cons: its 3d version is very complex and uncompetitive with the rest of the softwares of the branch, performing renders is very unproductive with a lot of dedication time and does not end well, it still does not have a library of tools that allows downloading and using elements previously performed optimally.

Pros: Autocad is extremely powerful, it is a drawing tool that can work for any type of situation, we have created electrical, mechanical, civil and architectural plans with it, also room designs and layouts. It has so many features that make the use of other cad tools unnecessary if you can afford it.

Cons: It can be overwhelming, since there are so many comands you need to know just to perform the most simple actions such as drawing a circle or a line, it could be more streamlined. Also it is really expensive.

Overall: Autocad has helped us create precise drawings really easily, it's libraries are so complete that most of the drawings are almost pre drawn. If you can afford it's really high price then it's totally worth it.

Pros: When it comes to designing, AutoCad is as simple as it gets. They make the changes required to keep up with the times but keep enough the same so that the older users can keep up with little to no issues. From basic lines to more complex modeling, there's not much you can't do. I've used many other AutoDesk softwares such as Revit, Civil 3D, and Inventor. They all take notes from AutoCad. Any company that ever has to draw or design must have this tool.

Cons: The modeling in AutoCad is fairly complex and cumbersome. I'm in the Structural Steel industry and we use AutoCad for very small and quick sketches. Anything more complex than a couple of lines and some text gets put into our 3D modeling softwares.

Overall: This software is as simple as it gets when it comes to drawing. That's not a knock, but a compliment. Having this software readily available is unbelievably helpful. There's not always a need to have to go in and model something in 3D. Being able to sit down and sketch up a handrail or ladder in a matter of minutes due to having blocks to work off of is incredibly helpful to our organization.

Pros: AutoCAD does an excellent job of cramming an extreme degree of functionality into one program and still have a logical interface. The large user base has also resulted in an extensive user support base - looking up a problem will almost always result in a solution.

Cons: There are regular crashes or freezing when working in complicated drawings - particularly when using advanced features. Many of them are not caused by anything identifiable and the only solution is to save often.

Overall: I'm willing to put up with the occasional frustrations simply because there is such an enormous benefit to handling large tasks in AutoCAD. The ease of use, flexibility, and functionality have earned it's place in the industry.

Pros: If you are looking for the best software to make a great design or planning a new house, building or urbanization, Autocad is the software for you. This software offers a lot of tools to make draws, the features are virtually endlees you can draw, measure, analyze angles, make 3D models, print, set work spaces, set how many layouts you want, and so many other features. With Autocad you can design anything you want in a very shor period of time.

Cons: You have to know about architecture and design to use this software, this a very specialize software, not for everyone, the set of feature are huge but if you do not know anything about design you are simple wasting your time using this software.

Overall: With Autocad we can redesign a huge amount of spaces in the theaters specially in the old ones, we do this job in two times, the first was direct in the place doing the measures and fixing details, the second was, making a draw in Autocad and fixed the spaces to improve and the activities that we have to do to remodelling the theaters.

Pros: I have used this Software for about 20 years, I think it's fantastic! With a little practice, this Software is useful to do whatever your imagination or your knowledge allows, from the most basic for schools to the most scientific or technological you need. I have made many architectural designs and other branches and I still think it is super versatile, useful and additive. Once you know how to manage this Software, you think about doing almost everything with it.

Cons: Although the platform maintains some of the characteristics of the previous update, many times you must spend a little time in returning to the environment created, which will always be a better update. The other aspect is that it is an expensive Software, but it is worth it.

Overall: It has many commands that if you know how to use it, they make your work easier, giving you time. Convert files from other design software to linear or vice versa. The 3-dimensional design options work very well. You can go creating specific libraries of the area that you need. You can make very good presentations.

Pros: Working in AutoCAD is more feasible and practical than if it were to be done by hand. It reduces the time frame to deliver a project and is simpler. It's linked to multiple platforms, with the benefit of being able to export and import files of all kinds and upload them in AutoCAD 360 or A360. Practicality ease in the modifications and order drawings and design change requests.

Cons: The initial cost of ownership is high. Requires high specs for processor speed, high amount of storage and an up to 8 GB to run it smoothly and get the most of it. Takes a lot of time to get the most from all the features and options since they are very specific.

Pros: It seems to me an efficient program, with respect to the activities that must be developed as professionals in the area, it is a program that facilitates the creation of plans, be they from any branch of engineering, topography, architecture, among others related, since It is easy to use, the tools are well designed for the user to develop quickly and efficiently. the 2D and 3D works are of high level, the graphics are excellent, the impression is easy to adapt it to the desired scale. I recommend the use of this program extensively.

Cons: As for the cons you could comment, there are some functions that are not used so often, therefore there should be an option to hide them and give more priority to others used, they should also do a tutorial for beginners, how to use the pre-established tools , that is interactively with examples to help new users, in the learning process or simply to refresh the memory of regular users.

Overall: the benefits obtained with the use of autocad is the speed with which the problems are solved when generating an architectural, engineering or topographic project since time is saved in the execution of plans obtaining topographic surveys with the introduction of coordinates, the base for a floor plan is already obtained. In the area of architecture you get the floor plans and 3D views of them giving a better view of the final result you want to achieve. In short there are many effective benefits with the use of this program.

Pros: Autocad is extremely flexible for various users who posses little to significant level of experience. It has basic functions/ tools aswell as more advanced for those who use it daily.

The layout can be changed to suit preferences which is extremely useful with a release of new versions, saving you tremendous amount of time from having to learn where all the tools you have come accustom to went.

The ability to set every single setting you can imagine makes this extremely powerfull software with endless capabilities.

Cons: Due to endless capabilities of this software there are large number of functions/ tools which, if you are new can be daunting and overwhelming at first. To use this software proficiently, the user needs to invest significant amount of time for self development.

Overall: The concepts you visualize can be quickly brought to life using this 2D drafting package. The large number of tools, tutorials and functions help you tackle almost anything you can think of and removes any limitations other software packages might impose.

Pros: Application of much potential for design, creation and editing in engineering, the most popular. It has no margin of error in the calculation of points and is accepted by our customers at all levels

Cons: As a platform administrator, the things that our AutoCad users have complained about the most is that when it exceeds a number of points the program tends to give memory errors, which means that it has to invest in a much more efficient hardware, and therefore more expensive. Additionally, in the printing area, it seems that AutoCad is disconnected from the printing system of the operating system when it comes to sending a map to the Plotter.

Pros: This is the industry standard in creating 2d vector dwgs. All other vector programs like Adobe Illustrator and others have import options to bringing in AutoCAD dwgs (there's a reason for that). Its the program taught in most architecture/engineering/drafting schools and is what Revit modeling program is loosely based on. All 2d drafting starts here.

Cons: Once you move on from the 2d space to 3d, you will see the limitations of AutoCAD. This is strictly catered for 2d dwgs and it is very difficult to link dwgs across separate files as you would be able to do in BIM programs.

Overall: This is the base of the pyramid. You can't go anywhere in drafting without this program.

Comments: We love using AutoCAD, unfortunately Autodesk doesn't make viable business sense with their subscription services.

Pros: AutoCAD has been the standard computer aided drafting and design software for well over 20 years. It has an ever-increasing list of features which, at times, can almost be overwhelming. It's help menu and community forums help new AutoCAD users navigate the software efficiently.

Cons: The biggest drawback, in all honesty, is the 2016 switch to subscription only purchases. The lack of perpetual licenses and the annual subscription costs give all small to medium business owners pause, as this can cost several thousand dollars per person per year!

Pros: Its the original computer aided drafting software and has been used by everyone in the construction industry. Its solid and works great. With a little bit of training its pretty simple to use and doesn't require extensive knowledge of 3d software. It does have the feature and is a good start into the 3D world. I love its compatibility with all other autodesk products and can't be linked into Revit easily. Its cheaper than Revit though and is bundled with that as well. Most fabricators and shops still use it so its a must to have if you are in the construction industry.

Cons: Its definitely a bit old school and not really the software you should base your practice around. Its BIM capabilities are very lacking. It does have some 3D capabilities, but the interface is cumbersome and not easy to use for first time users.

Overall: It helps me do the things I need to do for my job. Its a good design tool and allows me to view work done by other professions.

Pros: which is a relatively accessible tool, especially for students,

it is a functional, productive tool thanks to what it is to use it is a software that is compatible with almost all types of pc in the market, something escensial so that many people can use it.

Cons: the way to make radios, curves and calculation area should be more precise.

does not present its own table to export points, but depends on the excel for it.

should have more types of hatch and present a function for the calculation of volumes of regular figures

Overall: the software simplifies and optimizes my work

Overall pretty good and smooth experience with the software.

Pros: 1. Down to earth basic functions.

2. Very flexible. Can do pretty much everything we need, either 2D or 3D, for office or the field.

Cons: 1. The software does go freezing or crushing and sometime couldn't get recovered.

2. The file size goes up so easily and often over 20 MB, especially when drawing in 3D, which means couldn't send to others via email.

3. The fonts, publishing color file (.ctb) and X-refs are not transferred when the CAD file is sent to others. Hopefully it could be some library built-in with the file itself.

Overall: Creating contract drawings, shop drawings; 2D & 3D coordination

Pros: I love autocad for 2D sheet metal programming. It allows me to keep different features on part geometry on different layer which by turning on and off I can create CNC programs which requires that flexibility. This software .dwg or .dxf files are being used as input for sheet metal press brake programming and it makes the job so much easy

Cons: Not much to complain about other than the license cost. Other thing I can think of is when licenses are shared I have to wait till someone releases the license.

Overall: Flexibility easy to use used as input to lot of CNC softwares

Designing is made easier with the latest version of Autocad and the shortcuts within.

Comments: I have been using AUTOCAD since Version 10 way back when. Occasional usage and gaps between employers has created new learning curves (for me) since I am self taught. I truly enjoy the program and use it proficiently now.

Pros: Easy to use short cuts expedite maneuverability while designing. I use this product to create from crude pencil sketches provided by our sales team. My co workers and associates are constantly amazed at the higher level of professionalism our blueprints and plans have become.

Cons: Searching through all the date to locate certain aspects (without any formal training) is cumbersome.

Pros: What I like most is the functionality, it's as simple or as complex as you say it is.

It is a powerful design tool that allows you to draw from a simple plan of a house to a three-dimensional model of an airplane with every detail.

Cons: You must have a previous training to be able to draw a line. Some functions are somewhat complex due to the great scope of this powerful tool so it is not advisable to use it without help if you are a beginner.

Overall:

I do not know what I would do without it, it is something essential in every home and office, for the design of any element that is desired.

Pros: I have been using this software since 1997, and it's still one of the best for 2d drawings. User-friendly, with a good interface for all the most common function. There are tons of hidden function that might be easier to use, but if you learn the tricks it works perfectly.

Cons: I am not a fan of the 3d drawing system, especially for architecture.

You can export the files and work easily with other programs (like Adobe Illustrator), but sometimes I experienced glitches exporting and importing files.

Overall: Easy to use, flexible, easy to share information and files

Pros: I have been using AutoCAD since release 14 in the late 1990's. New tools and commands have made drafting and design that much easier. Plans can be drawn up in minutes and hours, not days.

Cons: The bugs in AutoCAD can be down right annoying. Autodesk Help is not all that helpful most f the time, when it is a widespread bug. Look toward Google in order to help resolve a lot of issues.

Overall: Makes my life that much easier. Having been in manual drafting to computer aided design.. makes anyone's life that much easier...until the software bugs start...fatal errors before saving, etc. But at least there are backup files.

Pros: Works well all the time.

Cons: Expensive. Updates rarely have added functionality that we use.

Overall: I have looked at other drafting software because AutoCAD is mighty expensive. But when we consider that everyone in our organization is already producing with the software and it is what all of our consultants use, no other system seems worth the money that might be saved in the long term. We have never had issues with reliability or functionality. It does everything we need it to do and much more. I have never used AutoCAD LT, but it may be a good option for small organizations that do not need all of the functionality of the full package.

Recommendations to other buyers: AutoCAD LT may a good fit for smaller organizations and individuals.

Pros: I like that it was fairly easy to learn the basics of the software. I was able to adequately

use the program with very little time learning the software beforehand. I also like how well the software helps you learn more of the functions and features that it offers, the more that you use it.

Cons: I dislike that the software has seemed to reach a plateau in its capabilities. It seems that other software that provide similar services have caught up to AutoCAD. It seems that AutoCAD is progressing slower than other software.

Pros: Our design team utilizes AutoCAD extensively as part of our 2D design process. For plan-based drafting, it is the defacto standard. There is a wealth of tools available to speed up the drawing process and it is fairly straightforward to write code to automate and extend capabilities.

Cons: The user interface tends to change without warning between releases and not as much care is given to backward compatibility. Even though it is capable of design in 3D, performance suffers a lot and we found the tools to be rather buggy.

Pros: It has a comprehensive set of functions for drafting any civil and mechanical drawings. Having used it for many of my research projects and it always works well and satisfies every need. AutoCAD is feasible to produce both 2D and 3D drawings, which can be later imported to finite element analysis software, such as ANSYS APDL and Workbench, SAP2000, and ETABS. Compared with the other 3D drafting software SolidWorks, which can be imported to finite element analysis software as well, AutoCAD has a more generic setting to produce drawings in the aspect of civil, mechanic, etc.

Cons: If using the academic versions of AutoCAD, every drawing displays a plot stamp or watermark when it is printed, which may not look professional when use it for professional, commercial, or for-profit purposes. This software would freeze when many plots open at the same time.

Pros: It makes designing a home or commercial project easier than any other software available. Plenty of tools, and some customization is available.

Cons: Way too expensive for the common designer to afford. And now we have to pay yearly too. It's too much overhead at times.

Way too many tools available, AutoCad tries to be everything for everyone. Most designers use 10-20 commands about 95% of the time. Could be boiled down while still maintaining the core engine and capabilities.

Overall: Faster, more complete Cad design of construction drawings.

Pros: I like how this software, only does exactly as you tell it to do. I may not have some of the fancy facets of specialized software, but it is pure in its ability to be exact, and demands creativity for certain problems to be solved.

Cons: What I dislike is always part of what I like the most, AutoCAD is not going to be doing most of of the work for you, so some tasks become drawn out or repetitive.

Cons: it s price. it is very expensive, and in the market this time there are a lot of programms that offer almost the same with 1/3 of the price

Overall: it is the top plan drawing programm in the world, with a lot of collaboration with other engineers who use it. almost all my collagues have it and it is easy to use each other drawings. it has a lot of 3d objects too, and is great for rendering too.

Pros: The core of the program never changes, despite all the iterations. Easy to use, quick to pick up, and effective for any level of planning or design.

Cons: I don't like that the program in it's later iterations, requires an upgraded operating system and using it on some newer operating systems can result in crashes or freezing. It can also be annoying to some users when newer iterations completely change the layout and interface, which can be a serious learning curve for users that have dealt with older versions.

Cons:

I think the only defects that this has is that the type of language that the program has, from there on out I did not see anything wrong and that is the opposite is an excellent tool!

Overall: my experience with this great software was wonderful, it helped me a lot in the tasks and jobs that leave me and to this day it continues to help me very well in my work as such, I recommend it a lot, good application and with very good tools, I am very happy with this software!

Pros: It became "de facto" standard. Everybody in engineering world is using it. And once you adopt it, hardly you can do your business without it. Having its own standard for generated files (.DWG) ensures fully compatibility for all the historical versions, and support for them is great. Nowadays, using its online tools for collaboration makes things even easier.

Cons: It is really expensive for users that need only few options of it. Of course, you have free viewer tool, but in case you want to set small change, or some simple edit detail, it cannot be done without full version. And price for such use is extremely high. You have different products on the market that do quite the same thing, but because .DWG format is closed by Autodesk, you can never be sure that real format compatibility will be satisfied.

Overall: Must have engineering software tool.

Pros: As an architectural designer, using this software makes my job easier and faster with its tools being reminiscent of traditional drafting techniques.

Overall: In my young career as a professional, I must say that in terms of 2D drafting, this software is the cream of the crop among others. But in the case of 3D modelling, I won't recommend this for it is quite hard to understand and eats a lot of space in your RAM.

Pros: AutoCAD has been consistent with steady improvements for years. This is the industry standard when it comes to 2D/3D CAD. It typically works very well with other vendor applications (electrical, piping, stress and simulation).

I can draw a plan, and sections of a desire point, indicating the point ID and depth and soil characteristics. In addition, I can insert tables to import the laboratories results to complete the geological information

Cons: I don't like the printing capabilities of the software because is too much to deal with in only one step, I mean the paper size, the format for the layout, the color schema for layers, the printing style for layers and the final output

Comments: Besides the computer errors that you will experience from time to time. This software is actually very good. Learning can also be somewhat easy if you have a good knowledge of this software. I will still recommend others to purchase the software.

Pros: I like the fact that you don't have to be a seasoned engineer to use this application. Those that are still learning will be able to go right away and start creating. If you are a seasoned engineer then the work that you create will actually be great. This gives you such a great field of moment that you can see for yourself how something will move or stand.

Cons: The problem with this is the software is that purchasing this is super expensive. The training along can also be expensive. So I hope you have a large wallet to undertake the massive amount of money that this will need.

Pros: From its beginnings in the 80s, autodesk redefined computer-aided design (CAD). With improvements in stability, fidelity and performance in 2D drawings, import of PDF files (import geometry). In the 3D section there was a substantial improvement in performance, it also has an app store with collaborations to make your work easier.

Cons: Autocad is not a simple application not everyone can handle it, it requires previous technical knowledge to draw (architecture or engineering) and its strong point is also your Achilles heel, because being so specific can become very complicated when you need to do something simple

Overall: I used autocad many times throughout my career because it is an essential requirement, but nowadays there are other applications that do the same job in a simpler way, as well as other autodesk versions ... but in short if you want to learn how to use CAD As senior professionals would do, this is your tool.
